Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert:

By Faiz Shakir on Nov 22nd, 2006 at 4:04 pm

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert:

“Thank God for the power and the determination and leadership manifested by President Bush. … I know that Iraq without Saddam Hussein is so much better for the security and safety of Israel.” In 2004, the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University concluded that the Iraq war made Israel less safe because it “has created momentum for many terrorist elements, but chiefly al-Qaida and its affiliates.”

Seems the Israeli lobby is making a full court press in the American media to keep religious hatred alive – I’ve been catching the shocking faux interview of Bridget Gabriel of http://wordofmessiah.org/bridgett_gabriel.htm
who claims to have witnessed Palestinians tearing a baby’s body apart in front of its mother, while the baby’s arm is tied to the mother, and also claims that Palestinians give young women the choice of either being raped or becoming suicide bombers.

Pastor Hagee, the overweight San Antonio rapture preacher, who prayed over Texas Governor Perry just prior to the Governor’s unfortunate re-election, must be getting beaucoups of bucks from the Israeli lobby to keep the religious hatred alive and well in Texas in anticipation of war with Iran?

One wonders when people like Hagee and Gabriel will be called upon to account for yelling fire in a crowded theatre, and for undermining the security of the United States, not to mention imperiling the safety of our military age children.

  15. RealScientist says:

I have no doubt that Olmert and the Likud thugs who back him are doing everything possible to maneuver the U.S. into war with Iran. The Likud view is that American lives spent on Israel’s perceived behalf cost them nothing.

4 Palestinians killed today , AGAIN

JERUSALEM, Nov. 21 — An Israeli advocacy group has found that 39 percent of the land used by Jewish settlements in the West Bank is private Palestinian property, which the organization contends is a violation of international and Israeli law guaranteeing property rights in the occupied territories.

In a report released here Tuesday, the Settlement Watch project of Peace Now also disclosed that much of the land that Israeli officials have said would remain part of the Jewish state under any final peace agreement is private Palestinian property.

  22. Tobey Tall says:

TEL AVIV — A West Bank settler leader denounced an Israeli settlement watchdog group that said yesterday that government maps indicate 40 percent of land incorporated into West Bank settlements is owned by Palestinians.
The report by Peace Now is an embarrassment to Israel’s government, which has claimed throughout the years that the settlements had been established on public lands.

  23. Jackie says:

I don’t blame the President of Israel for supporting Bush. Bush gave Israel the bomb and weapons to kill woman/children. Most of the funding for the attacks Israel is doing is with the support of the Bush Administration. As Israel continues to attack they need the money. If allowed to continue Israel will totally destroy the Middle East with the help of Bush. Don’t worry God should us who’s side he’s on as He allowed Lebnon to stand strong and proud against their attackers. So evil will never win this one as all the lies don’t work against real God believers. Israel was once the chosen ones but lost favor and we see why.

  26. Marie says:

I fear that Israel is going to be the catalyst that gets us involved in attacking Iran in the near future. Bush may be stupid enough to do it on his own, but he will face a great deal of opposition – if Israel gets it started, then Bush will have to jump in to support our ally.

  27. Tobey Tall says:

    27# Marie
    Thats his plan for sure

  28. Tobey Tall says:

4,286 Palestinians have been killed since September 29, 2000.

For 2,000 years there was no such conflict.

The land of Palestine was inhabited by Palestinian Arabs. In 1850 these consisted of approximately 400,000 Muslims, 75,000 Christians, and 25,000 Jews. For centuries these groups had lived in harmony: 80 percent Muslim, 15 percent Christian, 5 percent Jewish.

    Zionism
But then in the late 1800s a group in Europe decided to colonize this land. Known as “Zionists,” this group consisted of an extremist minority of the world Jewish population. They wanted to create a Jewish homeland, and at first considered locations in Africa and South America, before finally settling on Palestine for their colony.

At first this immigration created no problems. However, as more and more Zionists immigrated to Palestine — many with the express wish of taking over the land for an exclusively Jewish state — the indigenous population became increasingly alarmed. Eventually, there was fighting between the two groups, with escalating waves of violence.

    UN Partition Plan
Finally, in 1947 the United Nations decided to intervene. However, rather than adhering to the democratic principle espoused decades earlier by Woodrow Wilson of “self-determination of peoples,” in which the people themselves create their own state and system of government, the UN chose to revert to the medieval strategy whereby an outside power arbitrarily divides up other people’s land.

Under considerable pressure from high-placed American Zionists, the UN decided to give away 55 percent of Palestine to a Jewish state — despite the fact that this group represented only about 30 percent of the total population, and owned under 7 percent of the land.

    1948 War
When the inevitable war broke out the outcome was never in doubt, according to U.S. intelligence reports from the time. The Zionist army consisted of over 90,000 European-trained soldiers and possessed modern weaponry, including up-to-date fighter and bomber airplanes. The Arab forces, very much a third-world army, consisted of approximately 30,000 ill-equipped, poorly trained men. The U.S. Army, British intelligence, and the CIA all agreed: it would be no contest.

By the end of the 1948 war the Jewish state — having now declared itself “Israel” — had conquered 78 percent of Palestine — far more than that proposed even by the very generous UN partition plan. And three-quarters of a million Palestinians had been made refugees. Over 400 towns and villages had been destroyed, and a new map was being drawn up, in which every city, river and hillock would receive a new, Hebrew name. All vestiges of the Palestinian culture were to be erased. In fact, for many decades Israel — and the US, following its lead — denied the very existence of this population. Golda Meir once said, in fact: “There is no such thing as a Palestinian.”

    1967 War

In 1967, Israel conquered still more land. Following the Six Day War, in which Israeli forces launched a highly successful, Pearl Harbor-like surprise attack on Egypt, Israel occupied the additional 22 percent of Palestine that had eluded it in 1948 — the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It also occupied parts of Egypt (which since were returned) and Syria (which remain under occupation).

    Current Conflict
There are, then, two issues at the very core of the continuing conflict and escalating violence in the Middle East:

First, there is the inevitably destabilizing effect of trying to maintain an ethnically preferential state, particularly when the exclusionist entity is of largely colonial origin. As we have seen, the original population of what is now Israel was 95 percent Muslim and Christian. And yet, Muslim and Christian refugees are not being allowed to return to their homes in the current “Jewish state.” Israeli peace negotiators refuse to even discuss the possibility of applying this UN guaranteed right.

Second, Israel’s continued confiscation of Palestinian land in the West Bank and Gaza is being resisted by the Palestinian inhabitants. It is these occupied territories that, according to the Oslo peace accords of 1993, were going to become a Palestinian state. However, when Israel continued to take land in these areas and to move its citizens onto it, the Palestinian population rebelled. This uprising, called the “Intifada” (Arabic for “shaking off”) began at the end of September 2000 and continues to this day.

  29. Tobey Tall says:

    Back to My Point

Palestinians ‘own 40%’ of Israeli West Bank settlements

Almost 40 per cent of land used by Israel for its settlements in the occupied West Bank is the private property of Palestinians, the Israeli organisation Peace Now said yesterday on the basis of leaked official maps and other data.

Contrary to official claims that the land is state-owned and that private property is only seized temporarily for security reasons, the leak shows that privately owned Palestinian land has been repeatedly used to build and expand settlements.

The potential embarrassment to Israel is all the greater because it suggests that the use of private Palestinian land is especially prevalent in Jewish settlements which successive Israeli governments have made clear they are determined to keep.

HAVE YOU NOTICED THIS SHIT HAPPENED once Bush got into Power ????

  30. Paul in LA says:

    Olmert is a war criminal.

Israel is a LOT less safe under Olmert/Sharon/Bush.

    • Bush released 450 shoulder-fired missiles to hostiles.

    • Bush released nearly 400 metric tons of high-explosives to hostiles.

    • Bush released cannisters of Cesium and Strontium, and two tons of yellowcake to hostiles.

    • Bush allowed Al Qaeda to blow up the UN building in Basra. Olmert took care of the one in S. Lebanon.

    • Bush allowed Pakistant to proliferate nuclear materiel to israel’s enemies.

    • Unlike Reagan, Bush made no effort to rein Olmert in when he was committing heinous warcrimes.

    • Illegal Iraq invasion helped Hamas win in Lebanon, and switched Iran gov’t from moderate to rightwing.

    • Bush has created a failed state in the southern 2/3 of former Iraq, which will be a permanent cause of anger at Israel and the U.S.

    • With his cronyism, barbarism, and total failure to plan, Bush has shown the Arab and Muslim worlds that America has no concern for their families or their innocent lives.

Oh yeah, Bush has REALLY helped Israel. What’s his next trick, getting Iran to bomb Tel Aviv?

    bowdler,

i don’t know what you are getting at, but, i hope it is the fact that gemayel was a cia assassination, plain and simple. the bush crime family did it to foment civil war in lebanaon and to downplay the syria-iraq moment of ‘detente’ after thirty years. bush does not want peace in the middle east, he wants perpetual war. the cia killed gemayel

  36. Bowdler says:

33 Bush being responsible is unlikely, because as we all know anything associated with Bush is executed in an incompotent manner. Think instead of who would benefit from this act. Imagine a meeting of the Syrian leaders, and someone suggesting that the best way to enhance their newly increased influence in the region would be to execute Kemeyal. That doesn’t sound right either does it? Who does that leave?

well, it is true that the cia and massad are a bit above bush’s intelligence level… i think we agree that the americans killed gemayel.

check out the newest robert fisk:

That little matter of the narrative – and who writes it – remained a problem yesterday, as the Western powers pointed their fingers at Syria. Yes, all five leading Lebanese men murdered in the past 20 months were anti-Syrian. And it’s a bit like saying “the butler did it”. Wouldn’t a vengeful Syria strike at the independence of Lebanon by killing a minister? Yes. But then, what would be the best way of undermining the new and boastful power of the pro-Syrian Hizbollah, the Shia guerrilla army which has demanded the resignation of Siniora’s cabinet? By killing a government minister, knowing that many Lebanese would blame the murder on Syria’s Hizbollah allies?

  41. stonehinge says:

A lot of folks have criticized “boy” for linking to a reference posted on the Stormfront website. However, the document itself, The Truth About the Talmud, has no association with Stormfront whatsoever, excepting the fact that it was posted on their website without the author’s consent. It now appears that legal proceedings are underway to force Stormfront to remove the document from their indexes.

As for the document itself, it is nothing more than a recitation of the literary or “scriptural” basis for Zionism, precisely as it has been stated in the Talmud. If one sees the information stated therein as damning of Jews, then it is the Jews that have damned themselves, for the document does nothing more than collate what has already been written in the Talmud.

In the same way that thinking people rightfully distinguish Radical Evangelical Christians from the larger body of Christian believers, it is crucial that we begin to recognize the extreme racial prejudice espoused by Orthodox Rabbinical Jews. As painful as this may be for some, this is the only way that the Palistinian Holocaust can ever be resolved. These profoundly racist Rabbinicals, these Holocaust Enablers, have hidden for far too long behind the humanism and enlightenment espoused by the Jewish mainstream.

So, ignoring the potential risk to my own credibility on this forum, I am reposting the link to this important document, but this time the link goes to the authorized destination:

The Truth About the Talmud by Michael A. Hoffman II.

#15 The Likud view is that American lives spent on Israel’s perceived behalf cost them nothing.

How very true. American GI’s are expendable pawns for Israel’s ambitions. This so called “ally” of ours spies on us, and compromises our relationship with Arab countries. Regardless of party in power, things will never change in the realtionship with this colonial nation called Israel.

  44. Paul in LA says:

“If one sees the information stated therein as damning of Jews, then it is the Jews that have damned themselves, for the document does nothing more than collate what has already been written in the Talmud.”

You are spreading a racist tract. Guess what that makes you?

The Talmud is cerca 200 CE. You are trying to blame Jews for a 1,800 year old text most have NEVER READ at all, and almost no one has ever read in detail. That’s called ‘collective guilt theory,’ and it is a common basis for racism.

It is not hard to find Jews and Christians who believe that some Sura in the Koran justifies killing Muslims. Count yourself among those bigots.

  45. New Yorker says:

Looks like the Israeli have elected a Bush clone to run their country. Olmert is an imbecile and an incompetent.

  46. stonehinge says:

You are spreading a racist tract. Guess what that makes you?

Sorry, Paul, but there is no racism in the document whatsover — it is a straightforward recitation of the contents of the Talmud, nothing more than that. You gain nothing here by attacking the messenger with this ridiculous assertion. Your strawman makes you look the fool, not me.

You are trying to blame Jews for a 1,800 year old text most have NEVER READ at all, and almost no one has ever read in detail.

This assertion is simply asinine. Virtually every Rabbinical who has attended Yeshiva has read the Talmud — that is what Yeshiva is all about. Volumes and volumes of the most detailed information imaginable have been written about the Talmud by a very long list of the most prominent of Orthodox Rabbis. Google on Maimonides before you waste our time with another moronic response.

It is not hard to find Jews and Christians who believe that some Sura in the Koran justifies killing Muslims.

First of all, we are not talking about the Koran. However, since you brought it up, I’ll point out that it is rather hard to find Jews and Christians who have actually read the Koran. Have you?
