Earlier this month, rumors began swirling that Karl Rove may soon leave the White House, in part because he and incoming Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott (R-MS) have failed to get along. The New York Times then reported that Rove would be staying on, but claimed the White House was compensating for his “limited influence in Congress.”
In an interview this morning on Fox News, Lott intensified the growing discord between him and Rove, stating, “I’ve had problems with some of the conduct of Karl Rove.” He added that he has a good relationship with “most of the people” around the President. Watch it:
After Lott said in late 2002 that, had the country elected Strom Thurmond as President, “we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years,” Rove quickly orchestrated his ouster, supplanting him with White House-favorite Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN). During the midst of the CIA leak scandal a few years later, Lott suggested that Rove should resign and that Bush should “reach out and bring in more advice and counsel.”
Transcript:
WALLACE: Senator, over the last four years, though, you did have some harsh things to say about the White House, and I wonder whether you still stand by them. You said Karl Rove should resign. Still believe that?
LOTT: Look, I’ve been in sort of a liberated mode. Some people say that they hope in my new leadership position, I won’t give that up. I do believe in trying to be honest and respectful. I’ve had problems with some of the conduct of Karl Rove. But I have a good relationship with the President and most of the people around him. I think Josh Bolten is doing a great job as his chief of staff. You know, the president and I can communicate, and I want to see him succeed, because he is the President. And we have to work with Democrats because they are in the majority.
One of the victims that Rove threw under the bush has come back to life. The bloom is off of that loser Turdblossom, the pudwipe who lost the senate, house and the majority of governorships with his stupid attack strategy.
I hope that Bush and the Republicans keep Rove right where he is, the Democrats will be winning for a long time.

November 26th, 2006 at 11:12 amThis is just another useless GOP ethics lecture from the old, unprincipled racist Lott.
November 26th, 2006 at 11:13 amI think I smell blood in the water old chum. Let the bloody frenzy begin.
November 26th, 2006 at 11:13 amThis to me looks like a battle between two very evil people that do not want to share power. Slowly turdblossom is loosing his clout among the rabid rw christians. Trent is more than willing carry the torch. (no hood required, dont want to be to obvious)
November 26th, 2006 at 11:24 amRepublican "unity" has always been a facade. Lott and Rove are both mean-spirited iron-fisted bullies. I hope they beat eachother's brains out.
November 26th, 2006 at 11:33 amLott and Rove should fight this battle with guns and knives.

November 26th, 2006 at 12:17 pmHow about hand grenades at three paces?
Lott and Rove are both assholes so it's wonderful to see them calling each other what they are.
November 26th, 2006 at 12:27 pm"Look over there!"
---Trent Lott with hand in cookie jar, 11.26.06
November 26th, 2006 at 12:38 pmSo Lott doesn't want to say "Sieg Heil" to the Rovester anymore? How about continuing to say "Sieg Heil" to the Decider and Dead-eye Dick, Mr. Lott? Just call 1-800-HELLERTH and ask for George...
November 26th, 2006 at 1:04 pmCheers.
Sand-throwing kids on the playground having a tantrum. Imagine what is going on, when nobody watches. Delicious!
Reports like this make me hope they are as desperate as it all sounds. Given the mess that the U.S. is in right now it sounds callous to applaud the dysfunctionality of the Republican leadership as proven by this kind of bickering. But as the Administration hasn't been very functional anyhow, I just enjoy watching those people going for each other's throats.
Maybe one day (I'm dreaming now) one of them is so fed up with the other he'll start to blab and word gets out and state attorneys start listening in and handcuffs start clicking....sigh, just a dream!
November 26th, 2006 at 1:09 pmTrent, you only have yourself to blame
Karl Rove is just looking out for his best interests
That's why nepotism and cronyism are the law of the land in washington
November 26th, 2006 at 1:24 pmWhen a repub comes out and assumes responsibilty for supporting the Cheney / Rove / Bush strategy for destroying America, then I'll listen. Until then, they are simply looking to place their portion of the blame for this mess on anyone but themselves.
November 26th, 2006 at 1:33 pm[...] Lott Attacks Rove, Says ‘I’ve Had Problems With Some Of His Conduct’ [...]
November 26th, 2006 at 1:47 pmsounds like the pot calling the kettle black.....again.
November 26th, 2006 at 2:18 pmNot to worry--Lott will appear on FOX within 48 hours saying "what he really meant" when he said "I’ve had problems with some of the conduct of Karl Rove" was that sometimes Rove wears brown shoes with blue suits and that ain't cool, man.
November 26th, 2006 at 4:25 pmIf this is the maximum we can expect from coverage in the mainstream media on the minority party and its relative insignificance currently - viz., this yakking animated toupeed corpse, then we're in for a whole lot of same-old same-old from MSM.
Which IS FINE BY ME, as it means the supremacy of the Blogs in delivering actual news CONTINUES to rule elections and grip the mind of the U.S. where it counts.

November 26th, 2006 at 6:47 pmHow thin is the GOPer bench? They brought back two inept has-beens to try and shore up their already-collasped house of cards.
November 26th, 2006 at 6:54 pmGood luck, 'o evil chickenhawks. May your days in hell be both numerous and painful ones.
Mississippi is the most backward, federal government dependent state in the union. Trent Lott probably cost his constituents plenty with his ignorant mouth an arrogant behavior while Senate leader. Both got him into big troublem costing him his leadership post. Has he learned from that experience? Who knows! But if the citizens of Mississippi don't keep his feet to the fire, he should be recalled. Lott should realize that the Democrats now control the Senate and he better is better off if he plays ball with the new leadership if he wants to help the voters in his home state.
November 26th, 2006 at 7:00 pmEds:
You said: "In an interview this morning on Fox News, Lott intensified the growing discord between HE (??) and Rove"
should be: Between HIM and Rove. Always use object pronoun after a preposition...
November 26th, 2006 at 7:24 pmcool, a fight to the death. pass the popcorn.
November 26th, 2006 at 7:45 pmWhat a spectacle, when Trent Lott comes forward as one of the better looking Repugs in power then you know they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. G Bush installation of Karl Rove in the white house was an easy tipoff to the kind of administration he would run, but Lott is simply an idiot.

November 26th, 2006 at 7:52 pmLott is a simple idiot.
It is a big mistake to ever count Rove as down and out. This guy is slicker than Gotti, O.J. & Ruprt Murdoch combined.
November 26th, 2006 at 8:06 pm"...Lott intensified the growing discord between he and Rove" - should be "between HIM and Rove..."
Very bad grammar.
November 26th, 2006 at 8:17 pmBottom line: Rove has no clout with the Republicans in Congress and the Republicans in Congress have no clout with the rest if the country. If there are investigations in the Senate that look into Rove's activities or require him to testify, it's nice to know that Lott will make sure the Republicans don't interfere.

November 26th, 2006 at 8:32 pmLittle grammatical errors like that grate on my eyes and ears as well. Our children will never have a firm grasp of grammar when "official" writings frequently contain glaring errors of basic grammatical rules.
well, well...these Republicans are unravelling faster than I expected.
November 26th, 2006 at 8:34 pmHow 'bout we see another Burr & Hamilton duel with Lott as Burr of course, and Rove as Hamilton? Ta Ta Karl!
November 26th, 2006 at 8:42 pmBut Gotti went down big when he went, now didn't he?
OJ and evil twin separated at birth Murdoch got a fist in the face too recently from advertisers and public both. Don't think they want more.
November 26th, 2006 at 8:44 pmI think what Lott meant when he said "Rove's conduct" was the nightly visits of one certain Jeff Gannon. That's what I'm thinkin'.
November 26th, 2006 at 8:58 pmKarl Rove is a politician's politician. That's part of the job, like the football coach who loses the big game, Rove's job was to win no matter what it took. He lost so he's outta here. The country is better off without him. Now, if he can just take all his friends back to Texas with him ....
November 26th, 2006 at 9:08 pmActually, it should be "between himself and Rove" since Lott is the subject of the sentence.
November 26th, 2006 at 9:40 pmProblem with just what behavior. Does he mean Rove's having sex with male prostitutes behavior?
November 26th, 2006 at 9:52 pm"(W)e have to work with Democrats because they are in the majority."
Fine bit of bipartisanship there -- and an admission that the thugs saw no reason to work the Democrats before.

November 26th, 2006 at 10:30 pmWill be interesting to see who wins this fight: Rove or Lott?
November 26th, 2006 at 10:39 pmComing from the party of bumbling idiots, Bill-Not, your qualifications to speak about incompetence and arrogance are unquestioned. Too bad you can't find anything more redemptive to do than slam "left-wingers" who in reality will get this country out of the toxic waste dump your party of hacks left us in.
If you expect to have "fun defeating us" think again, pal. You and your neo fascist pals will be waiting a long, long time. So enjoy your richly deserved status as the minority party for the next 20 years or so.

November 26th, 2006 at 11:11 pmExcuse me, but the subject of a preposition is ALWAYS dative--where the hell did you go to school?
You wrote: "In an interview this morning on Fox News, Lott intensified the growing discord between he and Rove..."
Try sounding it out...start with "between he"...sound right? No, obviously it should be "between him". So the correct construction is "between Rove and him"--the order of personal pronouns in a subject is ALWAYS last--two egregious errors in one sentence. Holy cow--what's wrong with you?
How do we know you have your facts correct when you can't even write correctly, you cracker hick! Just because I agree, especially because I agree with you, I cannot accept such ungodly poor English--jeepers man, the Republicans will rip you a new one in a heartbeat for this and you'll be discredited for life...we need your voice, so learn to write, dammit!
Or do we just not take you seriously until you learn some proper English? It's PAINFUL to read your stuff--so nobody will...
Is that what you want? Why bother even writing if you drive your audience away with atrocious grammer?

I agree with your correction on the use of the preposition after "between" and am sorry that Faiz has yet to correct this error. However, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones; in other words, learn how to spell GRAMMAR before discussing it.
November 27th, 2006 at 12:22 amI think Karl Rove getting thrown under the bus is great news. Bush will have a much harder time trying not to look like the Village Idiot. Let's face it; "If you've a miserable failure, the worst that could happen is loosing the last friend you have on the Earth!" (Well, Pickles...but she's living in the Mayflower Hotel or something.)
Let the Republicans eat themselves from the inside out. The big picture is that we're watching a very old battleship finally burn in the harbor with GW Bush as her captain. And every single one of them (Republicans) are terrified by that fact.
November 27th, 2006 at 1:16 amSee, this is the only redeeming characteristic of Trent Lott. Good old simple revenge. I like that about him. He has been trying to stab his enemies in the back (or the face) since they did for him and I just plain respect that. I dont like him or what he stands for, but I like that.
November 27th, 2006 at 1:26 amAt last I have found the gathering place of truculent grammarians!
I love the thought of Trent Lott appearing in the dreams of Rove and Bush and saying "I'm baaack."
November 27th, 2006 at 2:35 amRepublican Smoke and Mirrors:
Now that Bush and Rove are free falling in the polls, Lott can use this opportunity to take the attention away from his racism like Rove used Lott to take the attention away from Bush's inept leadership. Criminals facing prosecution use the same tactic, rolling over their buddies to obtain immunity. Lott and Rove crawled out from under the same rock.

Oh, God, please don't be fooled. Neocon's are just the latest incarnation of elitist, plutocratic oligarchs. They are amoral, apolitical, disloyal, treacherous, manipulative scoundrels. They are Democart and Reprublican, Conservative and Independent. Careful here. They lie in wait.
November 27th, 2006 at 5:05 amMost of the comments here are way off the mark.
If you've been around the Senate for a while, you learn that Lott is very well respected. He's a smart, pragmatic politician who left a quite a mark during his term as majority leader and his 33 years in the Senate. He's not to be dismissed along with the neo-con Republicans who occupy the White House and the Executive Branch. Nor is he an ideologue like Tom Delay or Jean Schmidt or Sam Brownback.
Instead of referring to Lott as "old", "unprincipled", "idiot" or "inept" (none of which is true) watch a session of the Rules Committee which he will chair until Jan. He's smart, experienced and knows government. And he's a very crafty politician.
It's more likely that the White House threw him under a bus back in 2002 because he wouldn't play along with their agenda. And now he's back in power with an axe to grind.
Personally, I intend to pull up a chair and get some popcorn because it's going to get interesting.
November 27th, 2006 at 7:45 amWhat's interesting about the whole series of events is that it is NOT Rove who lost the elections. The approach of the Right Wing is clear: They do what they want, policy-wise, and expect their elections expert, Rove, to put enough make-up on the pig to sell it to the people. So far, he's been remarkably successful.
By all rights, "republican" should be a filthy word by now, a schoolyard insult that results in fights. Remember what swept the Repubs into power in'94? The Congressional post office scandal and Clinton's fizzled health care reform. Wow! Compare that to the unending series of disasters Cheney has brought forth!
The Bushies don't care, mostly, about the politics of their policies. They are going to further enrich the wealthy at the expense of average Americans, destroy the environment, delete Social Security, and so on, and then hand the mess to Rove and tell him to win elections. In a way, it makes sense. But not even Karl the Girl Genius could fix this last one.

True. And that says alot about why Americans are voting those bums out of office and will continue to do so. Anyone that supports a racist like Trent Lott or Monopolist War Monger like George Bush will ultimately be voted out by the Populists.

November 27th, 2006 at 8:07 am[...] Sen. Lott attacks Rove [...]
November 27th, 2006 at 8:18 amTrent Lott is a jerk. A leapord never changes his spots. Lott is just like most republicans save your own conjuction first and let the others fend for themselves.
November 27th, 2006 at 8:44 amonly us Democrats would correct each other's grammar.........never rejoice when we can gripe..........
November 27th, 2006 at 8:52 amOf course the Republicans, "have to work with Democrats because they are in the majority." Because it would just be silly to cooperate with them othwise, say, to get something accomplished for the public good or other such nonsence.
November 27th, 2006 at 9:05 amWell, well, well, isn't this special? A nasty little fight between Strom Thurmond's white-Sheet and George's Porky Pink Pig. Bring it on!
November 27th, 2006 at 9:54 amAs the rats are leaving the ship they are arguing over who should jump first?
November 27th, 2006 at 10:47 amIt is cool to see them fighting and calling each other names. A couple of years ago they loved each other and focussed this mean spirit attack to all others, except themselves.
Now they can't contain the rancor and vile towards each other!
We are watching the 'dark side of evil' disassemble!
Dis discussion is why American political dis course has de generated. Or is it disgenerated? Lott has had a resurrection, maybe a phyrric one, like Nixon, or Lot escaping the fate of his wife. Rove will be a roving ambassador somewhere, or continue to make millions consulting somewhere, and maybe even win an upset somewhere to redeem himself.
What we are seeing is the dissolution of the Republican Party at this phase or cycle of their dominance, i.e. end of it. Their best friend in ascending to this dominance has been the Democrats. Now they surely appear to be returning the favor.
I hope the Dems focus more on the real problems of this country that the GOPers ignored. I hope they don't dump a pile of horseshoes full of luck to the horse---- brigade and let them survive longer. Sure there is a lot to investigate, but hyper-investigation saved Clinton and made him a martyr. I'd hate to be the committee chairman who overreached and st-Rove-d to place hisself among an overvaunted sleazeball and between he and theirself the full force of the law.
November 27th, 2006 at 11:05 amI wish they'd all just go away.
November 27th, 2006 at 11:30 amRegarding Comments #65 and 67
Irrespective of Trent Lott's 33 years of experience in Congress, a few of which were spent learning the rules at the knee of none other that Strom Thurmond who Lott effusively praised and subsequently lost his job to Bill Frist, does anyone besides me appreciate the delicious irony of Lott's political resurrection in the form of his new role as the Senate's Minority Whip?
I'll bet he's got one of those whips broken-in and ready in his office, just in case those uppity minorities get out of hand again, just like Sen. George "Macawitz" Allen has his noose all set for action, too, at least until his lame-duck term expires.
You just can't make this stuff up.
November 27th, 2006 at 11:57 amTrent Lott and Karl Rove are typical Republicans. Regretably, their confrontation will preempt important news that might otherwise be reported. This was the case with Jeff Gannon (post #38). It was strange that Monica Lewinski (an intern) could smoke a cigar in the Whitehouse and (with the help of a Republican majority) bring about the impeachment of a president, but Jeff (the male prostitute) could spend several overnights in the Whitehouse and not be noticed. Even when exposed, Jeff did not get the intense media attention that Monica got. Maybe the MSM was overly embarassed to find that Jeff was posing as one of them. No matter. I give credit to the MSM. They were smart to leave us guessing if Jeff was smoking cigars too.
November 27th, 2006 at 1:52 pmI can't believe I have actually read all these posts and actually believe all the posts in here about grammar. Who cares about garmmar when this country is in an abyss so deep, not sure the Dems can pull it out, say in the next 10 years. Are you guys kidding me.

Seriously now guys, have you read on any Blog and I mean ANY OF THEM, exactly what it is the Dems/Porgressives are going to be doing or have done now that they are in power. If my grammar, spelling, or puncuation is not proper, please feel free to correct it all, but NOT until you tell me OUR plan.

Read up about this group that Dumbya and Daddy put together and some of thier thoughts and progress about the Irag Screwup and thier suggestions to "fix" it. It's the funniest shit yet, are you kidding me !! And our mainstream media is actually taking all this funny shit seriuosly and passing it on to all of us as real stuff, are YOU KIDDING ME !!
Dems YOU now have the POWER, what the hell are you going to do with it ??
Are you kidding me ...... c'mon show me what your gonna' do !!! And when ya' gonna' do it ?????
