It’s probably just a tactic to stall Congressional investigations. If Fine investigates with enough independence and determination, however, he might find himself rendered to an unnamed eastern European country.
Go Glen Fine…it cannot be squelched now that the tide has turned against bush and the neocons. The american people resent being spied upon particularly the trampling on our Constitution in order to do so. This must be overturned. Besides, the FISA court has all of the mechanisms currently in place to do this within the law; in fact, there is a 3 days period wherein the wiretapping can occur before the warrant must be applied for. The ONLY reason for circumventing this already-established (established following the impeachment of Nixon for doing just this – ahem!) would be to spy on people whom they would otherwise never get the appropriate approvals….such as political opponents, etc. So tell me one thing: HOW IS THIS NOT PRECISELY LIKE WATERGATE? AND, KNOWING THIS…WHERE IS THE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDING? It is the obligation of the newly elected Congress to pursue investigations and, upon finding prima facie evidence of impeachable offenses, then impeachment no longer becomes a “choice” but a “mandate”.
it behooves all of us to pay close attention to this… for one thing, it’s extremely interesting that, following the mid-term elections, fine’s office NOW thinks it’s ok to open an investigation… for another thing, i am curious as to why fine thinks HIS office will get the appropriate security clearances when the other office didn’t (unless, of course, the people in fine’s office already HAVE them)…

November 27th, 2006 at 4:20 pmGood luck with that. There’s no such thing as an independent justice department with these hacks in office.

November 27th, 2006 at 4:50 pmSorry, the guy might as well be inspector gadget, he likely will have about the same effect as a fictional cartoon character.
