why would crate and barrel sell christmas items and then tell their employees NOT to say “merry christmas?” ridiculous. they say what they feel is appropriate, and ALWAYS have. and if their employees do not want to offend anyone they usually just say “happy holidays.” if a customer says “merry christmas” to them, they happily say it back. i would really like to personally thank bill o’reilly for making C&B’s employees life a little bit harder… do you know how many people have called or gone into their stores ranting and raving because of him misquoting the company? more than you can imagine!!!!

I used to say Merry Christmas all the time. When I was in Catholic grade school in the 50’s-60’s in Pennsylvania, we used merry Chlrlistmas and Happy Holidays interchangably.

Now I’m so F*****g sick of ‘NUT CASES’ like Oriley, I’m going to say Happy Holidays all the time just out of spite.

talk about small and ANNOYING, how small and annoying is Bill O’reilly? And he decclares this to be a christian country? Based upon what, when was this referendum held and why wasn’t I notified in advance. I think that referendum was held based upon the same criteria as the 2000 presidential election and the result is just as suspect. Let me set the record straight, this is not a christian country (where all the non-believers would be excluded from consideration and destined for hell), this is a secular nation. I am a Christian and I am very offended that Bill O’Reilly slammed Crate & Barrel. For 3 reasons:

1. He has taken the Holy season of Christmas which should be a time of love, joy and peace on the earth, and he has turned it into a media circus. He is using it to stir up controversy and for his own financial gain. After all if we all stopped watching his nonsense and stop buying his books, he would not be as rich as he is.

2. I know someone who has worked at Crate for a very long time and she has never been told not to say “Merry Christmas”. She says it freely without reprimand.

3. As a prominent person in the media, Bill O’Reilly should be checking his facts before he makes that type of a statement on a news show. A lot of people believe him (they should also check the facts). Therefore he has a responsibility to confirm the facts and present only the facts. The Fox network should be making him apologize on his show.

what an idiot!!!! first of all after reading the article it is clear that ms kahn was simply stating that crate will not be demanding it’s employees say only merry christmas. as she went on to say it about joining together with family and friends to celebrate the season. crate and barrel is a socially responsible company that is committed to all of it’s customers. furthermore- let’s all hope that is any person chose to pray at any time and anywhere is this country they would not be handcuffed, as such behavior is protected in the constitution. come on bill, i mean after all, WWJD? i doubt that Christ is that “petty and small” that such things would cause him this distress. let’s all say a prayer for bill that he might somehow dislodge his head from his ass. peace to all, and yes i do mean all, even you bill.

The only reason they use Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays over Merry Christmas is that the Holiday Season itself is about three holidays, and not just one: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.

That’s how I see it, but evidently, that’s not how O’Reilly sees it.

What, are state lotteries going to be boycotted because their scratch-off tickets say “Holiday Cash” instead of “Christmas Cash”, or “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”?

116. If 80% of Americans are practicing Christians, then I’m the pope. 80% may identify with the whole heaven/hell one God thing but they’re not church-going Christians and if you believe that they are, you’re delusional or you live in an unusually concentrated area of practicing Christians.

In another note, you know, I could be screaming bloody murder because Christianity initially stole many of their traditions and holidays from paganism and saying”Merry Christmas” instead of “Mery Yule” offends me but I don’t care. Everybody, businesses included,should be able to do/say what they like, that’s why this is America. Also, I always felt that “Happy Holidays” merely encompassed Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day. So I never understood what that big deal was. The whole thing is idiotic. If people are so Christian or so worried about keeping the “Christ” in Christmas (as I would not even call O’Reilly a pseudo- or hypochristian), why don’t they spend their time doing Christ-like things to celebrate his birth,such as helping the less fortunate, instead of wasting it pursuing this whole moronic non-war on Christmas.
