A few years ago the Supreme court ruled that HOA are in fact little governments and have to abide by the constitution. Thus they cannot forbid free speech, political signs were the example. I think this falls under the category. People need to stomp on HOAs whenever possible.

True, but I am not arguing about whether the Bible says God created the world or any of that, I am arguing that Jesus and God are seperate characters, with their own personalities. Jesus was not God made mortal, he was the mortal son of a God. Jesus does not appear in the old testament but comes somewhat later in the new testament, therefore referencing the old one and saying "God did this" is kind of pointless.

God created Adam. The bible states, "In the the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form or void". Read the good book again.

Read the new testament. It occurs somewhat after the old one.

Oh, and while we are on the subject, point out the precise line where Jesus claims to be God. The most Jesus claims is that he is the son of God, and last I checked a son is not the same person as his father.

They are clearly different characters according to the book of fairytales you base your religion upon. Heck they don't even act or speak the same, go read some of the old testement and go read the new one.

You Christians who have never read the book sicken me, because you see fit to come forward, spout crap that has no basis in scripture, and then claim to be guiding me to some greater truth. I read the book because, way back when, I felt I ought to give it a chance and see if it made sense, it didn't but I still read the book and not just as a book of quotations, which is precisely how Christians like you, seem to treat it.

The most Jesus ever created was a few glasses of wine and a whole load of nasty fish sandwiches (They didn’t have any butter or lemons, and besides fish goes with chips.)

Read Genesis.

The Bible is extremely clear on the fact that Jesus is the son of God, and in fact a seperate entity to God, and that God in fact was active during Jesus’ life. Jesus in fact called out to God saying something along the lines of “Father, why have you forsaken me” - He would not have called out to himself with that accusation, he would have known his own motives.

God came in the form of a man. The man was named Jesus. He used that man as an example for all humans on earth to learn how to follow and worship him. The father, son, and holy ghost are all titles describing Jesus.

Deut 5:8-9 (Exodus 20:4): You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God.

While the trinity, a concept borrowed from Egyption and Celtic traditions, is commonly preached by those who have never actually bothered to read the book, it has no more validity in Christians teachings then Fir Trees and a big fat Coca-Cola advert (Saint Nick) does.

As an atheist I do not celebrate Christmas because, well, I don't believe in it, instead I celebrate mid-summer*, but anyway:

For most people Christmas is all about giving gifts to each other. It is a celebration of each other, as much as it is about being together at least once a year, as it is about some religious connotation.

Of course to some Christians the chief issue here is that people who actually like their families have fun over the holiday, and fun is always sinful. Never mind that Jesus turned water to wine and is famous for having compared his blood to wine.

Christmas is not supposed to be a time of mass division, but rather a celebration of having survived the last year, reasonably intact, having managed to corall your family and friends together, and getting presents. The presents are as much a symbol of the fact that there is nothing more fun then giving a good gift.

That this spirit doesn't last all year is because mostly, it doesn't last the one day it is celebrated on, and besides if you had a big feast and lots to drink every day you would do your liver in. People generally do not actually like each other enough to make Christmas every day.

That it is celebrated at all, is because it is fun when it works.

*Mid-summer because I am in the southern hemisphere and its more convenient then mid-Winter owing to puplic holidays.

Wayne, he might be on to something. The virgin birth doesn’t matter. Didn’t happen. Wait, if he wasn’t born, he couldn’t be resurrected, could he??? Daryll and his brother Daryll and his brother Larry are not too bright.

You're not that bright, he existed long before the actual birth. Remember his creations? He came down in the form of a man to preach, teach and redeem our souls. You really need to interpret the word of god correctly. I hope you decide to attend church Sunday because your lack of biblical knowledge proves that your attendance is vital to the redemption of your soul. Have you been born again?
