“Sources close to outgoing Maj. Leader Bill Frist tell the Hotline that Frist has decided not to run for President,” Hotline reports. “He will make a formal announcement this afternoon, the sources said.”
Dang. That would have been fun to watch him try for the presidency. Although I don’t think he would have made it out of the primaries it would have been good for some giggles and kept the idiotic image of the Repubs in the faces of the voters.
I would like to announce it here first … I will be holding a press conference this afternoon to official announce that I, like the great senator from Tennessee, will not be running for President in 2008.
I’m disappointed. He would have made an entertaining candidate and I figure, the more clueless Republicans in the race, the more mud gets slung in the primaries, the more their cluelessness is exposed, the better it is for America.
I am planning to make my “formal announcement” that I will not be running for President. Y’all meet me at the corner bar after work. First round is on me.
think maybe he heard from the prosecutors from the SEC recently? or the Justice Dept attorneys investigation Jacko? Maybe it was one of the other notable deals he has that may violate the law, have violated the law?
hard to run a country from prison
Some may not agree with Frist politically, but he has been a man who has consistently stood on his principles.
When he ran for office, he gave his word that he would term-limit himself and he kept it. Regardless of your political perspectives, you have to respect that.
Regardless of your political learnings or convictions, in the interest of future public servants, I encourage everyone reading this to have the grace to acknowledge sincere and decent public service when they see it. Even if they don’t agree with the person politically. To do otherwise, discourages political involvement and expression in this great nation which was created to depend on it.
hey, BeBalanced, isn’t “sincere and decent” public service kind of a matter of opinion? I am willing to bet there are more than a few who would not apply these adjectives to Bill Frist.
If there’s a down side to this (and I’m really pressed to find one), it’s that at least Frist might have brought technology into decision-making……moving it from faith-based to video, abet, with facts still playing a non-supporting role….

Now would that include Frist’s violation of basic medical ethics by diagnosing a patient he never examined? Would that also include his outright lying about his trust being blind when in fact he was actively trading in it, arranging transactions that were directly related to legislation he was pushing? This is a major ethics violation, and probably a crime. But I guess that Republicans consider unethical behavior and lawbreaking to be one of their leading principles.

I do. Frist is not one of those “sincere and decent” pulic servant.
If anything, he is a hack, pretending he can diagnose a person’s physical condition by watching a video just to pander to his base.
Returning to medical practice….I thought that his medical license had lapsed for failing to take continuing education courses….or did he get credit for diagnosing old movies a la TSchiavo ? Perhaps he realized that he is a mediocre politician with limited talent and ignorant of the lives of most “ordinary/non country club” folks. He is a farse…but then, that has not stopped Americans from electing fools to even the highest office. What is with that? It seems voters give more in depth thought to the car they will purchase than the person they elect president.

Okay, BB, I can respect Frist a wee bit for sticking to his promise to term-limit himself. Anything else, absolutely NO! Principles like lying to animal shelters about adopting kittens which he actually killed, insider-trading, video (mis)diagnosis, threatening to do away the Senate tradition of a filibuster, threatening more moderate Repugs like Specter not to allow them a committe chairmanship if they didn’t toe the neo-con line, etc?
That he’s (Frist) going is cause for rejoycing. Now I’m waiting to see if the medical community will allow him to continue malpractice by remote diagnosis. This is all the time I will spend referring to this lump.
Thank goodness for that — Not that there are enough values voters to pull that off without tampering.

Senator Frist, are you SURE you won’t reconsider?
November 29th, 2006 at 10:54 amOnce Frist lost Terri Schiavo’s vote, it was all down hill from there.
November 29th, 2006 at 11:04 amI’m making a formal announcement that I won’t be running for president either. Because I’ve got about the same chances as Frist.
November 29th, 2006 at 11:07 amWhat a relief.
November 29th, 2006 at 11:08 amI was actually hoping that he would run,
He would have been easy to defeat.
He’s got zero charm, zero charisma, zero common sense, and his racist upbringing pretty much guarantees a “Makaka” like comment.

November 29th, 2006 at 11:50 amCould have been yesterday’s poll showing Him to be about as popular as Kerry.
November 29th, 2006 at 12:04 pmFrist figures that the indictments are coming down before then anyway, so why bother trying.

November 29th, 2006 at 12:21 pmOh, and I like that “BeBalanced” handle. A Fox News watcher for sure. Probably a big Bill O’Liar fan.
November 29th, 2006 at 12:22 pmcrappola. I was hoping the good doctor would be the repugnicant candidate, thus ensuring that no matter who the dems run, they’d win.

November 29th, 2006 at 12:40 pmoops, just lost my cookies, upon hearing the news…
November 29th, 2006 at 1:46 pmLuckily, the GOP has plenty of other crooked weirdos to fill in for Fristy.
