Pat Boone’s America.

By Nico Pitney on Dec 1st, 2006 at 10:50 am

Pat Boone’s America.

The right-wing Heritage Foundation held an event this week with “soul singer turned conservative evangelist” Pat Boone. Boone warned of the “new order of Armageddon,” and spoke of the “malaise and apathy of today’s youth. Tears began to fall as Boone lamented: ‘It grieves me the way young entertainers are deriding our leaders.’” He also announced he has written an anthem for the National Guard since “Nelly, Eminem and Diddy and Piddy and Poopy and whoever the other rappers are” had not.

Christianist whackjobs have gone off the rails. pat boone a soul singer? Then alberto Torquemada gonzalez is a civil rights activist

  2. Jeffrey Stewart says:

Is he wearing and orange jacket, pink shirt combination? Enough said.

  3. Ty Hutchinson says:

Is Pat Boone relavent to anyone who is not in a nursing home?

  4. Ugh says:

An Eminem National Guard anthem would be awesome.

  5. Zooey says:

That old weirdo is still alive? Hey christians, he’s an ACTOR.

Did Nelly, Eminem, P didyd know they were supposed to write an anthem for the National Guard? This I gotta hear…

  6. Number Six says:

Duh-huh. Boone was as much a soul singer as Lawrence Welk did speed metal….

  7. The Trucker Pundit says:

That’s just not fair! Poopy HAD a nice patriotic free verse ready to go but couldn’t get a producer to help lay down the beats.

  8. Kermit the Freedom Frog says:

Yes Pat Boone has his fingers on the pulse of America’s youth. They are under such malaise that they didn’t buy his album of rock hits.

The Dixie Chicks made Pat Boone cry. Awesome.

  9. Anon1 says:

Um, let’s see, oh yeah, I DON’T CARE.

  10. New Yorker says:

I did not know the old relic was still around. The religious crackpots must be desperate if they need to dig up dottering old farts.

  11. GodfryDaniel says:

Damn. Guess I better burn all my Poopy cd’s. They kinda stink anyway.

  12. GSD says:

Boone will rap under the name MC Douchebag.

    -GSD

  13. JPV says:

I actually heard his “National Guard” anthem on the radio last week. It is HORRIFYINGLY bad. It really comes off like Boone has gone senile and has totally lost it. The lyrics are amazingly embarrassing. He can’t even sing properly, not that he ever really could. How this loser ever became a famous personality… is beyond me. He has no discernible talent whatsoever.

What also bugs me, is how jerks like him are of critical anti-war people for voicing their first amendment rights, yet he see fit to exploit the current war for financial gain. What a hypocrite.

  14. AshenShard says:

referring to the current status of the xian right … can anyone say ‘meltdown’? I can’t wait until the movement splits. Then we can actually have a side we can work with on some points, and respectfully disagree with on others.

  15. clb72 says:

Holy jumping the shark, Fonz. Put these folks on a one way Love Boat cruise to Puerto Vallarta.

  16. ForTruth says:

I have all of Poopy’s CD’s one of the greatest artists of our time.

  17. DonD says:

After all these years the old fool is still writing letters in the sand. Unfortunately, now they are in the sands of Iraq being washed away by the blood of our troops. “When will they ever learn?”

  18. Sharon Cox says:

Pat Boone.?.Oh I remember, a not so good, not so popular, kinda crooner form the 50’s, geeeees, I thought he died….Oh, he did and now the reich is reserecting him to this junk……LOL….We won, they lost….Time to move forward to 2006….Make mine CCR or Bocheli or the Dixi Chick’s please…Blessings

  19. katy says:

    “soul singer”… “SOUL SINGER”?… i couldn’t get past that… no way…

    “SOUL SINGER”??? AH HAHAHAHAHAAA…

  20. oldtree says:

soul singer? what cracker said that, ever?
pat has been the poster boy for retarded celebrities for a long time. a very marginal talent that long ago realized it couldn’t compete in a free market place.

  21. Hypocrisy Patrol says:

Don’t forget his 1996 album entitled “Heavy Metal – No More Mr. Nice Guy”. He was shunned by every evangelical christian group for singing the music of the devil….He must have had a “spiritual awakening” since then. I wonder if he still has the tatoos and leather vest.

  22. Badmoodman says:

“Seeee the USA in your Chev–rolet…..America’s the greatest country of them all….”… Try as they might, America is not going back to the benign 1950s. And when did Pat forsake his leather and punk look?

  23. The Trucker Pundit says:

NOW when Pat gits to hell, he’s gonna have to explain THIS, as WELL as givin’ birth to Debby “Yeeeeew Light Up Maaaah Lyyyyyyyyfe” Boone.

  24. Badmoodman says:

This story will have a bookend if Anita Bryant weighs in.

  25. el kanuckistani says:

    Deriding what leaders??????????

  26. Technodaoist says:

Anyone get his “In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy” album? Sheer marketing brilliance… Give the grey-hair crowd what they want – current hit angry rock music done in a lounge / big band style. Crooning Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and Van Halen’s “Panama” never sounded so good. Other artists immortalized by this album include Judas Priest, AC/DC, and Ozzy Osbourne…

Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

  27. nitpicker says:

God damn it! Haven’t our Guardsmen suffered enough?!

  28. Lee says:

Pat Boone is already on notice for allowing his daughter Debbie to sing in the first place! To this day, I’m still trying to wash “You light up my life” off of me!!!

Conservative Republican = obscenely weathly, fat, and white!

  29. Pre-emptive Jesus says:

Pat Boone is the devil! I’ma gonna burn them vinyls after I played his album backwards and it said to love your sheep! Devil rock! hehehe

Seriously though, it’s people like this that help drive the youth to vote Democratic.

  30. Rob F says:

    Oh my gosh!
He better be careful or this will derail his career!

  31. Eleminnm says:

How can young people with “malaise and apathy” find the motivation and interest to “deride our leaders”? Because they have great love for their fellow man, energy, and courage, a few of the characteristics of MY savior, Jesus Christ.

  32. RUCerious says:

#20 ! Exactamento ! A soul singer with shoes as white as his pasty face??? My WTF-Incredulometer siren is blasting again.

  33. DrBB says:

Duh-huh. Boone was as much a soul singer as Lawrence Welk did speed metal….

As #27 points out, Boone did do a metal album himself though. And yes, it was just as mind-bogglingly awful as your fondest wishes could hope.

I can’t guarantee that this picture, or any picture is real.
But Hustler Magazine printed this years ago, maybe in the 70’s
and Pat Boone’s lawyers never called.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!! Rapper extrodinaire Poopy got gunned down in NYC this morning. Sources close to the rapper say he had a long running beef with fellow rapper PEE PEE PANTS.

  36. Itsfreakyfriday says:

After warning of the “new order of Armageddon,” he delineated his vision of the new revolution. Referring to the Supreme Court justices, he said, “We need a new Boston Tea Party, only this time let’s not waste good tea — let’s heap a bunch of black robes into the harbor. It won’t hurt the robes. They can swim out and they can re-enroll in Constitution 101.

He then proceeded to remove all his clothes, defacate on the ground and finger paint in the feces. After security guards tried to cover him with a towel, he screamed “The power of three will defeat you! The power of three will defeat you!”, a reference to the chant made by characters from the “Charmed” series. As Boone, age 900, was carried on stretcher to a waiting ambulance, he began sobbing and begging for “my pink Jesus Blanky”.

  37. ForTruth says:

    Very funny Kev kev,

  40. DRxJ says:

    Dammit,
Now I gotta burn all them Poopy Diddy albums I got! (and yes, I did say “albums”, not to segregate the old, but to confuse the young!)

  41. Bluedog49 says:

It’s really hard to believe black audiences have never warmed up to Pat Boone’s soul singing. I’m sure he could bring down the house at the Apollo with his soulful version of “Moody River.”

  42. today's youth says:

“(the) malaise and apathy of today’s youth”

Old people have been saying this since…forever.

What’s funny about the statement is that my younger brother and his friends (20 year old) are smart. Really smart. The internet can be a powerful learning tool when you use it for more than porn and MySpace. In my experience, I’ve found that most self-centered baby boomer’s think they are a whole lot more intelligent and important than they really are.

Future generations of kids are going to be smarter, because the dumbing down of our society is being reversed by the free flow of information on the net. The WWW should be embraced, and the MSM should be ignored out of existence.

However, teacher’s should make sure these kids are learning correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but I’ve noticed that instant messaging and texting has had an adverse reaction on our youth which is causing them to write and spell like morons. I wouldn’t necessarily equate that with malaise and apathy though.

I’d be lost without google and spell-checker programs.

  43. DRxJ says:

The internet can be a powerful learning tool when you use it for more than porn and MySpace.

There’s more to the internet(s) than porn and MySpace?
    Huh, whoda thunk?

  45. IraqVet says:

They called him a soul singer?

Hmmmm…I don’t remember BET featuring him for any award? How did I miss that?

He isn’t even in the R&B section at Wal_Mart! Dayum, that MUST be a typo!

    ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!ROFL!!!!!

  46. Jackie says:

Now they pushed the old timers who made they money and now changed. Pat Boone should write a song about Haggard and as for Pat he’s forgetting his past as if it never happen. Oh those closet doors if you live to long there’s alot of secrets in there. But who can blame Pat it’s all about the money. The only way Pat will see God is in a picture his sins are piling up so fast those white shoes are dirty now.

Yes, and probably white suede shoes too.

    #46 DRxJ

Yeah, my jaw dropped when I found that out too! You can even buy stuff and have it delivered to your house!! Amazing!

I wonder if Pat Boone has ever heard of ‘the internets’ and all their ’series of tubes’ that send ‘the email’.

  51. johnnyk says:

    Gag me……..

  52. johnnyk says:

I remember him from when I was in Grade 3.
    He was old then.

And who said Pat Boone is not a “soul singer”
    I am still LOL

  55. Django says:

I remember Pat Boone as a kid, not wanting to sign Fats Domino’s “Ain’t That a Shame” because he objected to the bad grammar.

Maybe he and Ashcroft could do a duet.

    Comment by Marie

Pat must have written his own bio.

  57. Donnie Baker says:

It’s illegal for Pat Boone to sing soul songs. State Law, you can look it up. I swear to god it is.

  58. James Dokoupil says:

Gee Pat, thanks for the anthem. We really needed that. Very patriotic of you. By the way, I’m having a party for military veterans but I can’t invite you because you never served. But thanks for the song!

    Comment by Django — December 1, 2006 @ 5:03 pm

I remember that statement very well. He even did a milky white version of “Tutti Frutti” that was so lame, even Little Richard took
Debbie Boone to task years later when he chastised her father (not present) in front of her for that disgusting display of arrogance by the alleged “soul singer.”

It’s just not fair. Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Gerald LeVert, Luther Vandross, Rick James, Tammi Terrell, Jackie Wilson , Donny Hathaway and Phyllis Hyman are dead and that sad excuse fro soul is still alive. Explain that to me.

Poor coward; he thought he was going to have an easy time confronting progressives – until he ran into an unappologetic, old-fashioned liberal willing to show him the error of his ways.

  63. freepatriot says:

like pat boone has any relevance in the modern world

based on this statement, pat would heve been a good NAZI

cuz he don’t complain, no matter how immoral his “leaders” might be
