Screw Harman. She let way too much slide. The only way to fix our country is to hold those who fixed the intel accountable (ie prison). It will easier without having Harman available for the GOP to point to and say “we’ll, she saw the same intel!”. Kick her to the curb. She had here chance to come up for her country and her party….

  3. The Trucker Pundit says:

What we got here is Speaker Pelosi demonstrating an insane prejudice for any and all Demmycrats what got traces of Bush DNA on their chins and lapels!

  4. Sharon Cox says:

Good job Palosi,……..Kick all the reich leaning enabelers in our party to the curb……Any liebermen types need to go and we the people are behind you….The time is now to clean the house, senate and white house. Investigate, Impeach and jail all the wrong doer’s……Blessings..Peace and truth .

Amnesty International railed against Saddam Hussein in the early 1980s. Rumsfeld said they didn’t know what they were talking about.

Living here in NM, 45miles from Sylvestre Reyes hometown of El Paso, I must say I feel REALLY good about him in this position. He is a moderate, a smart and life-experienced guy who has represented this border area of the country very, very well. He’s one of the few real folks left representing the average person.

Even though I think Harman might be “rehabilatatable” and I really don’t care one way or another about the feud between Harman and Pelosi, I was extremely disappointed in Harman’s “go along to get along” strategy in her role on this most important committee. That might have been the best many Dems could do, given the omnipotence of the Repulican Congress, but it is also why we are in so much trouble today—chickenshit professional politicians who care more about their positions than about doing what is right. That definitely is NOT Reyes, at the very least.

Reyes is great. He’s got intelligence committee experience and he knows the military. He’s a centrist and he’s clean as a whistle. Another smart move by Speaker-elect Pelosi. Nancy Pelosi pays attention to the electorate, which in a sane world should be the way our representatives act.

The last thing democrats should want are “soft” democrats in their leadership. Look at Liberman’s pro-war postition and his hiring of a republican hack. The SOB wants to put a republican operative in the democratic inner circle. Screw Liberman and all democrats who appeased or supported the policies of a disatrously failed president. Whatever disagreements democrats have, they should be addressed now so that they head into 2008 with unity of purpose. Anyone naive enough to believe that Bush republicans are going to change at all is a moron. The Dems should be preparing for an epic battle against an arrogantly defiant president willing to take the GOP down with him. They can’t afford subversive elements within the party making it easier rather than harder for Bush to be Bush. They have to be strong enough to take him on without backing down. Internal division is a luxury they can’t really afford.

  9. Bluedog49 says:

osage, the president has already made it clear that he will not change in the slightest. Democratic proposals???!! He won’t even take the advice of the Iraq Study Group.

  10. osage says:

Bluedog49….That’s my point. If democrats are unified in keeping the pressure on Bush without weakening, Bush will either destroy his own party or create so much dissent within the GOP, it will ruin their chances in 2008. But if Bush can create dissention within the Democratic party, it will work against them in 2008.

These comments show that many, many people are too stupid to vote or be in office…
Those of you who think Pelosi will do anything other than damage the Democratic party, are living in dreamland.
You have been suckered, used and will be abused….you reap what you sow.

    Pelosi did the right thing.
This guy is good – I liked Harmon but she often angered me when she wasn’t tough enough on Bush&Co.

This is a very relevant topic, as I live in Reyes district

That said, I cannot stand him for the most part-In our local elections here, he backstabbed one of the best, progressive state legislators, Elliot Shapleigh

Shapleigh’s GOP opponent ran an incredibly negative campaign, and claimed he had Reyes backing-an allegation Reyes did nothing to dispute

The reason Shapleigh’s so popular here is that in 1994, along with other attorneys-which was his livelihood at the time-he helped launch an investigation into how badly the state of Texas had been shortchanging El Paso of hundreds of millions of dollars over decades

At times, Reyes does the right thing, at other times, he really sticks it to the people living here, as El Paso is not a rich community, and Reyes voted for that obscenity known as the Bankruptcy Bill, one of the most blatant payoffs to one industry in our country’s political history

In spite of Reyes not backing Shapleigh in the last election, and in spite of the fact that the GOP opponent outspent Shapleigh massivley, Elliot won his reelection campaign for state Senator

  14. David says:

It is a sad fact that not only did the Dems appoint Pelosi as the speaker, but then she appointed Rep. Reyes to head the Intelligence Comittee, I am almost embarrassed to be a Dem. Reyes Reps. my hometown, he is an embarrassment, and shameful to our city. Unforunately, we keep voting him in office, raising the question of who is more ignorant us, or him? He is the what is wrong with our Government.
