Gender pay gap narrows,

not “because women are making great strides but because men’s wages are eroding, data show.”

Yep. You can say that again.

    Too…many…jokes…….must…be…strong…….

but since this is affecting men, does this mean something will get done about the problem?

Not likely, since the men affected are of the wrong color and/or tax bracket to matter.

    Zooey,

While I think qualified women should make just as much money as equally qualified men, that is not what this is about. This is another part of the redistribution of wealth and the creation of a slave labor class. A serfdon.

    TripMaster Monkey,

    Your strength is admirable!

Like I told PLC, I throw them out there, ya’ll have to do with them what you will. :)

actually, zooey – you got away easy! but the thread is still young…

but i also think it was a good, logical question, rhetorical tho it may be…
along the lines of my first reaction too…
but spudgeboy is correct… things may change, tho not too soon…

I am sooooo sorry you had to force yourself to be obnoxious, it must have been very taxing on your psyche, are you better now?

I have always worked in behavioral health. Women make the same lousy ass wage us men do in this field. And there are way many more women than men. And if it makes any of the ladies feel better, I have been discriminated against for being a man in a predominantly female feild. I’m not whining, its all good.

    Katy,

The thread is very young, I have a feeling Zooey will be quoted a lot before its over.

It means they will continue to convince shmucks like you to vote against your best interests so you will continue to pay more and get less while the wealthy get to hold onto and keep even more of your money.

Because nothing gets a man excited like a heated discussion about eroding wages.

Unlike you, I don’t need the government to look out for my best interest. I do a great job of that on my own. I earn every bit of money I get. I need to government to maintain the roads I drive on, fire and police departments, and maintain my safety from foreign and domestic powers that mean me harm. Thats it.

Here’s a news flash for you. You are the government. It says so in the Constitution. Look it up. That means you are responsible for making sure the government can do those things that are important to you.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this or not, but government services are shrinking. That’s because big business isn’t paying its fair share, but relies on government handouts from folks like you and me while hiding in their offshore tax havens. Then they manage to convince voters to give them even bigger hand outs and tax breaks by convincing them that they pay too much in taxes. So the little folks get a little tax break, the big folks get a huge tax break and (here’s the big surprise) the government winds up with less revenue. So the tax burden to pay for all of the entitlements that you list gets shifted more squarely on the shoulders of the folks who can afford it the least. People like you.

Say what you like about looking out for your own best interest, the big corps do an even better job of looking out for their own best interest, leaving the working class citizens holding the bag.

I, for one, depend on the government to keep big business from taking advantage of the working man. If government doesn’t, who will? You? What are you going to do, sue them? Without the protections that government guarantees a worker? I’d like to see you try.

CEOs making 400 times the amount of the average worker in a company.

Good for you, you self centered egotistical bastard. Make sure that that you don’t give a flying fu*k about those around you. Jesus wouldn’t want you helping the poor. Fu*ker.

  23. SpudgeBoy says:

ANd yet, you still lick Bush’s a$$h*le every occasion you can.

  24. BanReligion says:

Kevin, you’re nothing but a yes man..

Just want you to realize the things you take for granted, like your
education, did you go to a public school? Do you like safe food? Safe drugs? Well you can thank govt oversight, and regulation for that, how about safe water and safe air? Again thank govt regulation. You don’t even realize how dumb you sound.

Now that you realize that govt works sometimes for it’s people.

If you work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.. A union member and most likely a democrat died for you for those laws too. Have health insurance at work? Thank a union member. Sadly we are seeing a reverse in these trends and jobs moved over seas, benefits cut, we’re working our way to the bottom again, thanks to idiots like you.
People like you have been brainwashed into thinking big govt is bad, well big govt is needed when you have BIG corporations, big populations, and big problems.

Are you really this stupid Kevin? Or just play an idiot for our amusement.

  25. SpudgeBoy says:

Kevin isn’t really as dumb as he sounds. There is no way anybody can be that stupid and still use a PC. Even if they have a Mac.

  26. Kevin says:

You guys call me every name in the book because I believe that wages should not be determined by the government. That if you work hard to earn money that you should get to keep and use it as you see fit. That a person can decide that he wants to make more money he can go out and find a better job. And if you don’t like how a company does business, don’t do business with that company. That’s the power I have as a consumer.

  27. TheToonGuy says:

Kevin, you asked about redistribution of wealth, which (as I pointed out) has little to do with the government dictating wages and everything to do with you losing the money you’ve earned because the tax burden has shifted from the major corporations to the working stiff. But you can’t see that because you’re too busy falling hook, line and sinker for the lie that cutting taxes for big companies will somehow save you money. But the few pennies you save is lost in increased taxes to pay for the infrastructure you feel entitled to – OR – more frequently, it’s lost you in you having to pay more out of your own pocket for services that your local government can no longer afford to provide. Either way, you lose.

Folks that call for cutting taxes as the cure for inadequate government services are like the medieval doctors that call for bleeding the patient to cure them from hemorrhaging.

  28. BanReligion says:

    Kevin,

Well fact is, you are stupid. Your power as a consumer is not as great as you think. You think you have power, but the only business you may influence would be a small business. None of these chains really could care less about you or your business because they know there are 300,000,000 customers just waiting. And since all the large corporations are global, you’re a piece of lint, nothing more. And when you boycott that small business, you only help the Walmarts out even more.

I didn’t once mention wages, I mentioned 8 hour work days, insurance, etc, of course you had no reply because you know I am right. Corporations large and small could care less about you, because once again they have a pool, of 250,000,000 employees to choose from. It was union members that died at the workplace that forced the govt to watch corporations. It’s getting back to that again, with on the job injuries/deaths back on the rise. Thanks to cuts in Osha, etc.

But since you brought up wages, you’re damn right it’s the govts job to enforce labor laws, you want the USA to be like China? That’s slowly what this country is turning into, a country full of low paying jobs, sure you can quit one $7.50hr job and go find another. you really showed them didn’t you? Make more than $7.50? Well look out, they’ll try to find an illegal alien to do yours, or move yours overseas.

  29. Kevin says:

I work for a large corporation. I have good insurance and am paid well. I was not given this job, I earned it. I am not in a union, nor would I join one. I have a 401K plan and I also save money in a savings account. I even give to charities. The idea that if I decide to work harder and move up in the company the government would punish me with taxes and “redistribute” it does not appeal to me.

And yet, that is what is happening. Everytime folks like you call for a reduction in taxes, the wealthy get the breaks, keep the cash and you’re being tapped for more and more to cover for those “essential services” that you demand from your government – because the wealthy are no longer required to pay their fair share. Why is it that you can’t see this? Do you like giving your money to the wealthy to hide in their tax havens? I sure don’t!

You are an incredible tool. Doing the same work…making less then 5 years ago. That is a good thing, right? While the rich get richer? Yup, that is your free market system. You idiots don’t even know what free market is. As for roads and protection…you aren’t even willing to pay taxes. Grow up and join the adult world, little boy.
