Yep. He said this while Prager was demanding that a Muslim Congressman be sworn in on the Bible. Kristof also told atheist authors to shut up—we should only hear from the “fathful” folks, I suppose…
Slowly, just ever so slowly, atheists or agnostics or just scientists are getting a voice, are being h e a r d, have one or two bestsellers – and here we are: “Christians are on the retreat, atheists are winning over, and more intolerantly at that…!”
This is just sick. If there was anything needed to show that especially American christians – their organisations, their spoke persons, their pundits – are completely unfit for discourse, are not used to challenge at all, it was this column.
For years they were telling us that the secularists are winning and the poor christians are retreating. Now the secularists are finally fighting back, and good for them!
Haggard is your new face of “The Right”, or maybe it’s Foley, or Delay, or Ney, or Libbey, or… All upstanding Christians with Christian values of lies, stealing, hypocrisies, and a little funky butt loving for good measure.
Perhaps with the loss of Congress, the Christian right will focus on converting the lost and living righteous lives. They will do more praying about changing our country instead of relying on the Republican party. Instead of fighting abortionists and homosexuals, they will love these people and see their lives change.
Well if you guys hadn’t stopped being Christian none of this would be an issue, so it is the Atheists fault for starting the culture wars.

You’re a christian, Squeegy? Are you in touch with your nuts?
So the culture war is the left’s fault because we hit the right back?
PatrioticLiberalChristian I never stopped being a Christian and those right wingnuts who push the culture war stuff never started being Christian.
Are you sure? I thought once you stopped supporting Bush you automatically became Wiccan or whatever?
But my comment was meant as a tongue and cheek comment, I’m aware their are people who consider themselves Christians, and non-Christians on both sides of the cultural war.
Now go away, or we shall taunt you a second time?
December 5th, 2006 at 8:57 amWho is today’s face of the Christian Conservative movement? It was Ralph Reed, but he couldn’t even win in his election.
Certainly the movement is there, but there is no identifiable face that seems to be out front and in charge.

sure hope ‘egbert’ doesn’t feel the need to spread the ‘love’ here…
and, a part of one, in particular, to watch out for:
…Barak Hussein Obama, a relative of Saddam…
yes, folks, it’s now a ‘fact’ that barack’s kenyan father is related to the iraqi saddam hussein… ignorance really is NOT bliss… save us all…

December 5th, 2006 at 10:29 amDaryll hasn’t ragged on me once this week about Jesus.
Christian Right & Atheist Left? Talk about your absolutes…
The nutty whackjob right created the culture wars, not the left. Kristoff is out of touch with his own nuts.

I wouldn’t be so sure. I bet he touches them quite regularly. :)
I am so sick of the pigeon-holing, either-or thinking of the neocons.

All I can do is throw them out there, and the finest (and Squeegy) will do with them what you will.

You’re right, PLC. Could there be anything between the “Christian Right” and “Atheist Left?”
