I got an idea. All who want to see an end to greenhouse gases stop driving your cars and stop using products that damage the environment.

Robert, I’d love to stop driving. Unfortunately, in the area I live, Republican legislators have worked very hard over the past thirty years to block any rail transit construction that was proposed. We finally got one light rail line in a couple of years ago and ridership has been far greater than expected. In the first year, it exceeded projections by 58%. If the Republicans hadn’t kept it from being built for all those years, I probably wouldn’t have to be driving to and from work nowadays and our air would be a lot cleaner here. It really ticks them off that the public is demanding it now and that several more lines are in the works.

Meanwhile, Chimpy believes he does have the authority to gut Federal laws limiting lead in the air. He is gutting the Clean Air Act without consulting with Congress.

Chimpy is hell-bent on destroying our great nation. He’s wrecking our military in Iraq and he’s wrecking the environment here at home.

Please spare me the simplicity. I don’t have an electronic doggie collar that zaps me if I don’t buy something unnecessary. I am well aware of this. By control (and I think you know what I mean) is the people that are in position to make major decisions and to follow through with them that would steer our country in the right direction.

Global warming is a complex problem that has no easy solutions. Finger pointing is not helpful.

dlet, who is in control of YOU? I am in control of me and my buying dollars. WE control the economy. If people stop buying gas hogs, then they will be forced to make more alt. fuel vehicles. You kow the best way to punish a business? Stop buying their products.

Then challenge ten people on your email list to do the same.

It’s easy, it’s a doable first step, and it works a lot better than trying to get chimpy to stop his gaseous emissions.

Is it not fair to blame the government when the lead in the wrong direction by undermining existing environmental laws while failing to enact limits on the gases that do cause climate change? Yes we are all part of the problem but the ones in control are the biggest problem at the moment. That is worth blame being put on them.

People are all to quick to blame ONLY the government and not realize that we are part of the problem as well.

Your point is simplistic and does not help to solve anything dealing with CO2 emmissions. Yes, people have to take personal responsibility and try to be as carbon neutral as possible. This does not mean one must stop using everything that requires any form of energy to run… one should instead attempt to decrease the amount of power they use… try buying a fuel efficient car, and turning the lights off in a room not being used, and turning the tv off when not being used. The government should be more vigorous in promoting this kind of personal conservation.
Also, corporations must be regulated to help lower emissions. First off, penalize car companys for producing gas guzzlers. Also, there is technology for many industries to lower CO2 emissions during production, and they should be penalized by the government for not putting these CO2 emission lowering technologies into use.
Its not about halting CO2 emissions comletely, but reducing them as much as we can to a more managable and acceptable level.

Like most other issues in the world, the issue of greenhouse gases isn’t a black or white, yes or no question. Treating it as such guarantees lack of progress.
