Senator Smith, I support your stand on this never ending war in Iraq. The more we try to do for these people the more they try to kill our troops and steal our money. How many ministers have taken millons of dollars from us and fled to England and france and now live the good life on our dollars. How many more billions of our tax dollars are we going to waste over there due to mismanagement of the funds or just outright stealing. Congress thinks nothing of sending billions of dollars over there with no accounting for but to just send over more so that equipment and supplies are just handed over to the insurgents one way or another.
How is it possible that a country that had all kinds of money and resources before the war can not supply the money for their own water and power and interstructure. What has happened to all the millions of US dollars that was found by the US troops buried in hidey holes and in the vaults around their country??? Who gets all the money from the sale of the oil that is going out everyday? Where does all that money go and who gets it besides Halaburton Exon, Cheveron amd the rest of the big oil companies, and this is so that they can gouge the American people with obscene profits at the same time YOU PEOPLE continue to give them big tax breaks but want more taxes from the middle and lower brackets to pay more so that YOU can give more away over there.
You want to give big breaks to all the illegals that come in here like the drivers lic. Soc. Sec. benifits, med, and special schooling. We had to follow the rules to get a drivers lic and we had to work until 65 to get Social Security but not if you are an illiegal or even an allien. Soc Sec and medacare are getting to be a big joke and not available to those that have worked hard all their lives following the rules and paying into the system only to have their jobs outsourced to someone else and so much fraud that they can't get decent medical care.
You want to make a big splash all around the woeld by trying to help everybody else that just hates us but you don't want to spend our own taxes on our own people that need it
You broke up ATT because it was working to well but you said it was a monoply but yet you stand aside and let the big oil have their way. It couldn't be because of the fact that big oil has owned Congress and the Senate and the rest of the politicans sine they found oil in PA back in the 1800's????????? You can spin all you want on that but it won't change the truth.
I am only one voice and one vote so I know that I don't count as much but there will be a time, and it is coming sooner than you think, that more and more people like me have the same thoughts and will get together. If there isn't some drastic changes made to this fouled up system then one way or another some drastic changes will be made.
I love my country and there is no other like it on earth but you people have been pushing the small folks around just to long and we are just getting tired of it. The war has gone on to long and costs way to much in lives and money, and I cannot see justifing the President asking for almost a trillion dollars for the war effort. The war should have and could have been over if the money grabbers hadn't gotten involved, and Congress let them have a free ride with no accountability..
I am very very sad each and every day that a trooper is killed and there is no end in sight. Bring them all home alive with honors.

Thank you for opposing the troop surge. It feels horrible and helpless to think that our president is not listening to the will of the people and persists in holding onto a deluded belief that we can "win" this "war." How many of our loved ones will have to die for his stubbornness? I appreciate you taking a stand.

This is nothing but pre-emptive strike to unburden Gordo with a formerly popular policy turned rancid. Get it out of the way...the sheeples will have long forgotten his support of this rubber stamp war by the Fuehrer. Gordo has a rotten voting record on importing H1-b and L1 visa holders as well as voting for open borders and not supporting employer sanctions laws passed in 1986. He and his type are the problem. Get rid of him.

I am at a loss as to the childish meanderings of some on this stream. Americas problem is a simple one but the courage to change is the real obstacle. The 'opposites' of both Republican and Democrat are actually 'opposames' meaning that they give only the illusion of being different. Until the American public develop the sophistication and intelligence to decipher and understand the shenanigans of this political system the status quo will remain just that. If you vote for Beelzebub or Lucifer the winner is still Satan.

Impeachment hearings are no doubt in order...The worst kind of rat is a demic-rat, republicans just happen to have been at the wheel. What must happen to save our country and permit the oppertunity for world-wide peace is to identify and destroy the REAL shot callers!!!

A good place to start would be using the harsh interogation methods on those who sanctioned their use on terrorist suspects. It needs to be known who the owners/controllers of the federal reserve are. From what I have been able to find, the evidence all points towards The Bank of England...This along with many other facts suggests to me that the Americans 'WE THE PEOPLE's true enemy is the US government's closest ally.

I'm not convinced that a handful of patriots won the revolutionary war and/or that the US has ever gained its independence. It was simply 'DECLARED', what King George did was brilliant in achieving/delivering his claim to the majority of 'The New Worlds' vast wealth and resources to/for the 'Crown'.

IMPEACHMENT is without any question necessary. But it's also only the start, far from adequate by itself, alone.

But Sen. Smith is fine in saying that the war is criminal the way it's being commanded and US troops keep getting killed; however, that's only a small part of the WHOLE TRUTH of the matter. He is WRONG with regards to the war on terrorism needing to be fought correctly, unless, of course, he really means going after the real criminals involved, the Bush administration, the Israeli govt, etc., etc. The WHOLE war on terrorism is CRIMINAL from the start, from the planning phase that began back in the 1990s. It is wholly full of FRAUD, and the highest treason that could be committed to nation. The whole Bush administration consists of TRAITORS of the worst kind; although dumb, but still traitors and criminal as hell.

One example is that Bush said before launching the actual war on the Taliban regime that they had had nothing to do with the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001; but because they refused to capture and hand over Usama Bin Ladin, they deserved to be bombed, carpet bombed. Ya know, like when he told them that if they did not accept the oil pipeline deal and thereby receive carpets of gold, then they would be getting carpets of bombs, which is bloody well what they got, too.

Oh, no, au contraire, the Taliban had accepted to hand over UBL; it's the US ally govt known as the govt of Pakistan that refused the Taliban handing UBL over.

Of course the Bush administration was aware of this; and MUCH MUCH MORE "things" not told to Americans.

IMPEACH, without any questionability, DO IT. But then put'em all on trial for criminal wars of aggression, on both Afghanistan and Iraq, and Haiti, as well; in addition to trials because of their extreme TREASON! Let's not be partial and overlooked ALL OF THE CRIMES really involved.

[...] Via ThinkProgress, Republican Senator Gordon Smith (OR) is jumping ship. President Bush may not understand that the people have spoken (and as he continues to ignore it, his approval ratings continue to drop), but Smith isn’t waiting for him to catch up: GORDON: I, for one, am at the end of my rope when it comes to supporting a policy that has our soldiers patrolling the same streets in the same way being blown up by the same bombs day after day. That is absurd. It may even be criminal. I cannot support that any more. I believe we need to figure out not just how to leave Iraq but how to fight the War on Terror and to do it right.
bs, I'm not sure, but I don't think the Supreme Court can prevent an impeachment and removal from office. And criminal or civil indictments which could possibly come out of impeachment hearings could be overturned by the Supremes, but Impeachment is the legislative branch's remedy for "high crimes and misdemeanors" being committed by the executive branch. I don't even think the Supreme Court gets involved at all.

I hope people agree with me on one point: it should be obvious to every thoughtful poster on these boards that there is no good reason to respond to anything the Mighty A-hole vomits on to this site. The Mighty A-hole is not here to argue. She is here to provoke. She doesn't deserve a response. My suggestion, again, is to ignore the a-hole. Let her find another group of thoughtful progressives to bother until they, too, understand that it is useless to engage such a low-down dirty excuse for a human being.
