Exley, it’s a shame they don’t offer an award for Most Asinine Comments on a Weblog. That way even a schmegege like you could have a brief moment of glory.
I can’t help but feel that my illuminating and informative postings had something to do with the nomination! :)

I just perused through all the sites nominated for Best Humor and I could not believe my eyes. Out of the 10 listed, only two are even marginally funny — Sadly No! and My Brain Hates Me, both of which can’t compare with sites like Jesus’ General, Opinions You Should Have or Avant News. The rest were all Reichwing knuckle-dragger sites offering the usual skeevy rants occasionally spiced with moronic Photoshopped images. For crying out loud, everybody knows that wingnuts have no sense of humor!
Whatever you do, DO NOT vote for Lone_wacko in the category at my link. He’s constantly pointing out misleading statements by Think Progress and other sites. An equal opportunity offender, his enemies list includes not only this site but Instapundit! And, unlike many other bloggers he actually makes the occasional phone call to verify stories and – unlike virtually every other blogger – is even known to leave his basement once in a while to do some real reporting. Plus, there’s all those instances where he reveals things that the AP, NYT, LAT, and others would prefer to keep hidden.
Sorry – can’t do it – if your coverage of habeas corpus was even noticeable and you entertain an honest debate on Israel’s role in determining US foriegn policy I will think again.
I check this site daily, but the fact that little more is done than attacking the neo-cons (which don’t get me wrong, I agree with attacking their statements) and calling them out when they change their mind is getting tiresome. People change their minds, that’s politics. They will say whatever the public wants to hear to keep them in office. Liberals are guilty of this as well.
So, why not use some of the time spent going through soundbites and dialog archives and come up with some constructive solutions to the problems. Otherwise, all of the publicity this site receives does the country no good. Constructive ideas are worth far more than 10000 negative “but you said this last year” quotes.
This place has become a reference point for where the best answers are located to beat back the right-wingnut machine, and become one of the best resources I know of for the Leftnet’s QRF.
On any given day you can go to most of the top Blogs in Left Blogistan and half of their front page or rec’d diaries will be re-writes of cut ‘n’pastes taken from here or your Emails.
I do have a suggestion for improvement. Thinking Progress on a state by state basis.
In the interests of building on the successes exhibited by Dean’s 50 State Strategy, Think Progress should consider building resources for State driven issues along the same structure of this site. There are very few organizations with the resources to begin building a network that could have the same kindof impact on a more local level.
A HUGE undertaking, but one that will pay off in the longrun.
Imagine the same kindof impact that you have had on national politics being spread more effectively to the lower levels of government (States, cities and towns) more effectively, and you can begin to see a real foundation for Progressive and Liberal ideas to build an even stronger national resurgence of the left.
This has to be the lefts next logical step. Intellectually sound Progressive QRF resources specifically designed to meet the needs of local issues.
Just did. TP, great work.
