I wonder if they ask if we should stabilize the country first. Or ask “Should we leave Iraq before the country is stable?†I would be interested in that poll.
What is the difference? I don’t mean that snarky. I really mean, explain what you think the difference is between a stable country and the civil war we have now.
Do you think that the US men and women should stay and continue dying until George W Bush’s Iraq civil war is over?
Kevin thanks for pointing out possible flaws in the poll. You arrived on cue. Do you really think such a high number would be significantly different if your little addendum to the poll was added? Maybe down to 70%, or 60%, the spirit is still the same, most Americans want our troops out of there and disagree with you.
But but but but….What about Iran? Why won’t anyone discuss that here? I’d go serve myself, except I have this bladder control issue right now. Liberuls die now! I hate you all!
You’re so welcome, Happy Dude. Now you don’t have to hijack this thread!
Back on topic, and I stated this in ThinkFast…
Who are these 28% idjits???
It goes back to the fragile little egos of Kevin and his freinds. They cannot bear the thought of any perceptions out there of the US “losing” a non-winable war.
Kevin, besides egos getting hurt, what else would get hurt if the US got out of there, and it appeared to be a “loss”. Let me guess, your first response would be “it will embolden terrorists and they will come here and attack us”. Kevin we have already emboldened all the potential terrorists in the entire planet to attack us directly. No change there.
Do you have any reasons why “losing” would be so bad, aside from bruised egos?
Kevin last I checked we live in a Demacracy, where the will of the people is what is first. I don’t care if you think the majority of America just doesn’t know what’s in it’s best interests. Majority rules.
He probably just tells himself, “Because we are just supposed to win, I don’t know why, we just have to, we always win everything, we are America.”
I think it would be good for the out of control Hubris in this country to “not win” everything all the time. It might save us from becoming another Rome.

To understand this a bit more fully, it might be a good idea to look at the breakdown:
“How much longer do you think the U.S. should have a significant number of troops in Iraq?”
less than six months: 32%
six months to a year: 25%
one to two years: 25%
more than two years: 14%
So as you can see, even more interesting than the 82% figure of two years or less is the figure of 57% within a year.
There might be some people that believe that victory can be accomplished within two years, but only a very tiny, very deluded percentage of the population could possibly believe victory is achievable within a year. These figures state rather eloquently that the primary concern of most Americans is the cessation of this war, rather than it’s victory.
All the new U. S. Congress has to do in January 2007 is to repeal/cancel the original Congressional Joint Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107-243)(October 16, 2002). This action will end the occupation of Iraq immediately. It would pass and become the land of the land with a simple majority vote in both the House and the Senate. After this repeal vote passes, Bush will have to immediately withdraw all the troops from Iraq or else be will be acting illegally and unconstitutionally. If he goes down the route of defiance, he would be immediately subject to being Impeached, Tried, Convicted and Removed from Office. Of course, VP Cheney should be Impeached, Tried, Convicted and Removed from Office first. Can you say President Pelosi?
This repeal of the original Congressional Joint Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107-243)(October 16, 2002) will not be able to be construed as “not supporting the troops,†because it will merely be terminating the troops’ current assignment…
Once again, we see the classic republican “attack the messenger” tactic. The messenger being the poll in this instance.
You will also notice how Kevin intentionally didn’t address any of the 20 posts asking him specific questions. The other classic republican tactic known as “ignore questions you can’t answer without making yourself look dumb.”
I don’t think we can endure two more years. How many have died in the past two years?
This would seem like a Viet Nam redux — keep on trying one more time, keep delaying the inevitable, and when it’s time to leave, pull people off rooftops under gunfire, and the country falls anyway.
I don’t know what is the best answer to this mess, because all of them seem so bad.
I see Bush as having created something he did not consider originally, not enough people were consulted beforehand, too many facts were concealed or distorted, and much was simply lies. Now we are in an untenable situation with no acceptable solution. What would happen if Bush and Cheney were forced out and a new team came in calling for a summit. There would be a huge price to pay for that, but no one is coming forward with anything workable.
As we all know, he rushed into an optional war in Iraq, even kicking out the UN weapons inspectors before they had a chance to complete their inspections. That was the proper time to show constraint, not today when 3.5 Americans are being killed in Iraq on an average day. Urgency should be priority one today.
Bush is an insecure bully. He will always react to challenges with some sort of f*ck you. This time, as he learns that a huge majority wants him to start withdrawing from Iraq, I fully expect him to come to the conclusion that he needs to send more troops.
Well, as it turns out, the mission was not accomplished, the insurgents were not “dead-enders, nor the terrorists in “their last throes” after all.
The Great misLeader has just announced that the “enemy in Iraq is far from defeated”, and that he “will not be rushed in to a decision” concerning Iraq.
He also said that that “we are not going to give up” , which I interpret to mean he is still going to send more people to kill and die rather than acknowledge the futility of his military adventure.
Apparently, Kevin, your left mouse button is broken, else you would have simply followed the supplied link (like I did). Either that, or you’re being deliberately obtuse in a vain attempt to derail this discussion. Which is it, I wonder?
Anyway, the reason aside, all you need do is scroll up to my earlier comment, where I supplied the ‘numbers’ for all to see. Have fun.
Yes we do, and now!

Actually, coming home safe and sound, uninjured would be a win for the soldiers and their families
December 13th, 2006 at 1:19 pmMy opinion
Kevin?
But…but wait! Tony Snow said that the majority of Americans want to stay and achieve victory in Iraq….and Tony wouldn’t lie to us, would he?

Make that 18%, as I now declare myself a mathematical idjit!!
December 13th, 2006 at 1:22 pmSheesh
Tiny Tony doesn’t look at it as a lie, he really believes the verbal “runs” he spews.

These people are so damn predictable.
December 13th, 2006 at 1:33 pmHere’s a poll question that should have been asked a few years back:
“Do you think the U.S. should invade Iraq if there are no WMDs and if we have no plan for our mission beginning the day after we take control?”
I would just like to see the numbers.

Hey Kevin, if “stable” were the goal, we should have left Iraq alone.
