This is another case of Bush trying to sound like Harry Truman, who said he never lost any sleep over his decision to drop the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Of course, we know now that Truman did, in fact, agonize over the decision and that it caused him severe depression later in life. In the case of Bush, I have little doubt that the man hasn’t lost a wink of sleep. He has no sense of history, no sense of perspective, and no sense of the consequences of his actions.

Woman’s world is her husband, her family, her children and her home. We do not find it right when she presses into the world of men. [Adolph Hitler, quoted in Lucy Komisar, The New Feminism]

There is a road to freedom. Its milestones are Obedience, Endeavor, Honesty, Order, Cleanliness, Sobriety, Truthfulness, Sacrifice, and love of the Fatherland. [Message, signed Hitler, painted on walls of concentration camps; Life, August 21, 1939]

Many people who think like that are not allowed to wander freely in society.
Wouldn’t a person who would be expected to have insomnia due to the burdens he carries answer differently. Wouldn’t that person likely have commented on how those concerns trouble his mind? A little Bush history: Prescott Bush became Hitler’s banker when he became Fritz Thyssen’s banker. The incredible loot Fritz’s father made in steel, coal, and railroads during WWI was hidden in Holland. Shortly afterwards he was looking to spread some in America and opened a front operation through E.R. Harriman in New York City. In fact, reports indicate that the Bush connections to Nazi money continued through 1951.

The reason Auschwitz was located where it was is because that is near where Fritz Thyssen’s coal, steel, and railroads were. That made it possible for I.G. Farben to synthesize fuel from coal gasification for the war machine there, which made it also possible to synthesize rubber there. I.G. Farben also made Zyklon B gas, enough to annihilate two million people according to the trial testimony of the Auschwitz camp commander Rudolf Hoess.

  62. Tobey Tall says:

I’m not even going to mention that while all this was going on the Bush daughters, those beguiling twins Jenna and Barbara, were cavorting in Argentina, behaving so outrageously that the Argentine government asked them to leave.

I don’t mention it because picking on politicians because of their dimwit children seems to me the second-last refuge of scoundrels, right before Fox News. I will pass on, however, Jon Stewart’s observation that while Argentina welcomed fugitive Nazi war criminals with open arms after World War II, the Bush twins were more than it could take. Makes you wonder what they were doing and whether we can get pictures, doesn’t it?

It’s no wonder Mr. Bush doesn’t read newspapers. After all, what’s reality ever done for him?

  71. veritas says:

And with the cocktail of meds he takes, it’s clear that he sleeps through the night. If he’s sleeping so well while parents of loved ones in Iraq pace the floors with worry and concern then something is definitely “wrong” with this twisted picture! He wouldn’t be sleeping if one of his airhead daughters were over there doing their civic duty, would he?

IMPEACH THIS CHIMPBRAIN NOW! He’s just flaunting his level of unconcern and incompetence in our faces! He’s taunting us to see if we have the guts to “do the right thing” and oust him. What a sicko!

  72. veritas says:

Inappropriately, Ted Bundy also slept “like a baby”, didn’t he? This clearly indicates the degree of sociopathy involved here. If I were him (or his handlers), that’s the last thing I’d be saying publicly when people’s children come home in body bags every day and the family members haven’t had a full night’s sleep since this illegal war began, that’s for sure! What a seriously cavalier mistake made by Bush with this one. This one statement will haunt him for the rest of his life and will become part of his legacy…..

What did Nero do while Rome burned? He played his fiddle. What did Bush do while troops died? He slept like a baby. Something is drastically and criminally wrong with this picture. He’s got to go and now! Soon he’ll be telling us that he thinks Iraq is a joke….how sad for this country, indeed.

  73. veritas says:

CHIMPEACHMENT is the only remedy for this degree of flagrant insanity.

  76. Rosencrantz says:

First of all, I think we all assume that Bush is exactly the type of person who could sleep so well after everything he has done.

Second, it’s pretty sad he doesn’t understand what it really means when somebody asks him, “how do you sleep at night.” By answering “just fine” he proves what an ignorant, arrogant and dangerous person he really is.

  77. veritas says:

And on second thought, this is precisely where Bush underestimates the intelligence of the people: Everyone knows that psychopaths/sociopaths sleep well at night – either because of the heavy meds necessary to function somewhat normally during the day OR…OR….OR….because they lack the brain chemistry to have the insight into any level of emotion even remotely resembling empathy. Misanthrope can easily be added to this dx as well. This is where Bush got it totally wrong – EVERYONE knows he’s sick and conscience-less….so we expect him to sleep like the deluded baby which he’s proven that he is.

George W. Bush: But the day ended on a relatively humorous note. The agents said, “you’ll be sleeping downstairs. Washington’s still a dangerous place.” And I said no, I can’t sleep down there, the bed didn’t look comfortable. I was really tired, Laura was tired, we like our own bed. We like our own routine. You know, kind of a nester. I knew I had to deal with the issue the next day and provide strength and comfort to the country, and so I needed rest in order to be mentally prepared. So I told the agent we’re going upstairs, and he reluctantly said okay. Laura wears contacts, and she was sound asleep. Barney was there. And the agent comes running up and says, “We’re under attack. We need you downstairs,” and so there we go. I’m in my running shorts and my T-shirt, and I’m barefooted. Got the dog in one hand, Laura had a cat, I’m holding Laura —

Laura Bush: I don’t have my contacts in , and I’m in my fuzzy house slippers —

George W. Bush: And this guy’s out of breath, and we’re heading straight down to the basement because there’s an incoming unidentified airplane, which is coming toward the White House. Then the guy says it’s a friendly airplane. And we hustle all the way back up stairs and go to bed.

Mrs. Bush: And we just lay there thinking about the way we must have looked.

Peggy Noonan (interviewer): So the day starts in tragedy and ends in Marx Brothers.

I don’t believe GWB is capable of understanding, sympathizing or empathizing with what normal people believe he should be “feeling”. He doesn’t “feel” he’s responsible for their deaths or the demise of the Republican party. His best , among many, to my mind was when he, decided for no apparent reason to make (paraphrased)the pronouncement that “it takes a warrant to eavesdrop on Americans and we get warrants.”
When Bush says that he knows why others would expect a person in his “I-screwed-the-pooch-again” position to sleep poorly, he is making an admission.
The comedians and psychologists understand this behavior of Bush. In comedy speak, Bush walks up to his friend and announces, “You know that I’m not sleeping with your wife, right?”
Oppositional Defiant behavior in a teen is a warning of bad things to come. In a president it leads to bombs, flames, international disgrace, hundreds of thousands dead and fleeing and just a tiny backward admission that this is all so very shameful.

In there, for example, he would find that liberals and university professors were some of the first people the Nazis put away.

Flako: “What no praying for the President Bush like you did for Senator Tim Johnson to get well.?”

Flake, why does anyone need to pray for a president who sleeps well and claims he’s in better physical shape than he was when he started the job?

  99. Bluedog49 says:

More on Nazi christianity, thanks to unbelievable:

“My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice… And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly, it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people. And when I look on my people I see them work and work and toil and labor, and at the end of the week they have only for their wages wretchedness and misery. When I go out in the morning and see these men standing in their queues and look into their pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very devil, if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two thousand years ago, turn against those by whom today this poor people are plundered and exposed.”

—Adolf Hitler, speech on April 12, 1922, published in My New Order

Rick, does Hitler’s demonstration of christian faith above mean that he, too, was a “moral man?”

It should not come as a surprise that in finding way too many familarities in comparing bush to hitler,
their followers are of the exactly same mindset.
I am still waiting for Rush Röhm to wear a brown uniform
marching down Constitution Avenue leading SA people like Rick, vinnie, MA and all the other well known fascists. The ‘German – American Bund’ will join instantly.
Good Night America, even though YOUR nights will be filled with nightmares and sleeplessness.

  103. Matthew J. Price (D-AL) says:

There was a little prick named rick,
Who was found to be mentally sick,
Then one day, much to his dismay,
discovered that he had no dick.
