Bush’s cabinet should convert to Islam, that will do away with the pork problem for sure. The only problem with Bush’s cabinet converting to Islam is that it would just add another sect to the sectarian fighting in Iraq… sheesh.

Luckily we have the Dems in power now so we wont see 1 single bill with pork in it.

Luckily we have Roger_Roger posting here now so we won’t see one post that is worth while from him.

My administration will soon lay out a series of reforms that will help make earmarks more transparent, that will hold the members who propose earmarks more accountable, and that will help reduce the number of earmarks inserted into large spending bills.

Of course you are now that the republicans are going going….almost gone.

The Republicans came into power in ‘94 complaining about pork and runaway spending. What did they do? They piled up more pork projects than had ever been seen before. And then they started to cut themselves in for slices of the spending, personally benefitting from the projects, investing in land and then funding projects to make the land more valuable.

There have always been pork barrel projects and it’s only natural for members of Congress to try to win jobs and contracts for people in their districts. But, the Republicans of the 109th Congress took it to a whole new level. And you, Roger_Roger, didn’t have a damn thing to say about it until now. As long as it was the GOP that was getting rich off of taxpayers’ money, you didn’t see a problem. All of a sudden, the Democrats are trying to do something about a legitimate problem that’s killing our economy and robbing taxpayers blind, and you want to hold them to a standard that the Congress has never seen before in its entire history. Get serious.

Way to go, swifty. Did you happen to notice who was running Congress when earmarks became such a huge problem? Did you happen to notice who got their asses kicked in the last election? And did you happen to hear anything about the Democratic leadership’s plans to deal with the problem?

Your record of accomplishments, Dubya, just flat out sucks. So keep your mitts off of this and leave it to a group of competent adults to take care of it. If you want a list of things inside the White House that need fixing, I’m sure we can come up with enough stuff to keep you busy right up until January ‘08, or until you leave the White House, whichever comes first.

Bush’s earmarks come in the form of “emergency spending allocations.” In fact he’s funded 3 years of War spending as an “emergency spending allocation” thus keeping the cost of the War out of the “official” budget deficit. And the Pentagon has been instructed to shift more and more defense spending into this off-budget item, thus masking the true cost of Bush’s Borrowing to fund the War Profiteers.

I don’t see you complaining about any of that. Why the heck not?
