Yes, but there is still the matter of the bill.

  7. upside00 says:

Is this the picture of the stars of the sequel to Dumb and Dumber? And where is the 3rd chimp, Dickie Boy?

  8. Zooey says:

GWB sez: Hey Rummy, it that a kink in your tie, or are you just happy to see me? Heh heh.

  9. wags says:

tell me that smile doesn’t say “well, blake (it’s blake that’s the new sec def right?) i’ve just shat all over the house, let’s see if you can clean it up without a mop!”

  10. Kay says:

    Who says “opposites attract”?
They make such a cute couple, being both WAR CRIMINALS AND PATHOLOGICAL LIARS…

  11. RUCerious says:

The real question, is Bushies left hand covering up something?

  12. TripMaster Monkey says:

So…how long will it be before the American public realizes that Gates will not do anything substantially different than Rummy, and that the whole switching of the Defense Secretaries was just a sleight-of-hand show for their benefit?

If anyone believes that things are going to change AT ALL with Gates, they’re deluding themselves.

  13. Robert says:

Best Secretary of Defense Ever – at f’ing everything up.

  14. Tuber says:

It’s a good thing that I am not god because the next frame would have included a searing lightning bolt followed by a frame showing two smoldering piles of ashes. I would have let the ashes co-mingle a little bit because, hey, I am a sensitive guy.

Then I would have someone flush them.

  15. AvengingAngel says:

In an elaborate ceremony carried live on all the cable news networks, President Bush and Vice President Cheney feted the disgraced Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld with glowing words, military pomp and even a 19 gun salute. “This man knows how to lead and he did,” Bush declared, “and the country is better off for it.”

Rumsfeld, it seems, will not be held to the GOP’s “Les Aspin Standard.” That is, decisions that needlessly cost American lives in battle cost defense secretaries their jobs, but apparently only if Bill Clinton is president.

    For the details, see:
    “Flashback: Rumsfeld Celebrated, Aspin Slandered.”

  16. ForTruth says:

George pitches a tent while holding Rummy’s hand.

And that missing Trillion dollars is…..?

  18. Fools on the Hill says:

Isn’t the holding of hands “special”. Did the skip off the stage together? The repuglican Freak Show continues.

  19. Jay Randal says:

Bye Rummy and I hope a Taos Pueblo Indian scalps you in New Mexico > lol.

  20. Jericho says:

Helluva job, guys. It was a hard lesson to learn for humanity to be human but I’m convinced nobody thought us what humanity is better than both of you. And now that the sheople have clearly seen the bad path, they are starting to come round again. They learn that war is good for nothing, corporations are psychotic and justice is nowhere to be seen .. yet.

  21. mparker says:

    WTF?

Has this Country EVER before had a President who would so often, hold hands with another man, put his hands on another mans face, rub a bald mans head?

How about wipe his glasses off on the dress of an unsuspecting woman?

Think Arroyo Seco is proud of their part-time resident and full-time scumbag?

    NAWWWWW!!! Not so much.

  23. oldtree says:

off to Den Hague for a nice vacation perhaps?

  24. Raven says:

Well, now we know why they had to wait so long to swear in the “new” Secretary of War..
Takes time to plan a big party, got to make sure every one is happy…..looks like the chief of staff was able to save US taxpayers the cost of at least 2 “escorts”…
Kind of funny how 25 or 30 years ago us guys would’ve been given a hard time by “the establishment” for giving each other a hug. Now that very same “establishment” holds hands and wait for each other in the cloak rooms of Washington D.C…..

  25. Marie says:

    Good riddance.
As for those two in the photo —
One is senile and demented. The other is simply demented.

  26. Leviza says:

    Bye bye Don.

    Enjoy your retirement….

No, you really, I mean it….because you are facing an eternity in a very special corner of Hell after you croak.

  27. turlte says:

Dubya’s a complete idiot. If Rumsfeld’s the greatest Secretary of Defense ever, then why did Dubya sack him?

  28. Wayne A. Schneider says:

#20 And that missing Trillion dollars is…..?

actually closer to two trillion dollars (announced on Sept 10, 2001). And after the events of the next day, they did nothing to investigate the missing money (as far as I know.) Maybe someone has more current info.

Meantime, I wrote another song parody about the Military Commissions Act of 2006. It’s about how we’ve created a “Writless Wonderland.” Click on my name and enjoy.

If I don’t get the chance to say it, I wish all of our friends and visitors here happiness and peace throughout the holidays, whichever ones you observe.

Those kinds of inconsistencies don’t bother the mind of a Right Wing Authoritarian Follower. Authoritarians will just accept that there must be some other reason he’s firing Rumsfeld that he’s not telling us, but we should still trust him. These would be the 20-25% who continue to support Bush no matter how badly he performs his job. They don’t know how not to support him. They really don’t.

  30. paul miller says:

good gracious, good golly, henny penny, known unknowns, unknown knowns, unknown unknowns, 650,000 dead Iraqis, 25,000 US casualities, thanks for the metrics and the memories, Donald, you did a heckofa job, we won’t forget ya lest we forget building democracy is a messy business

  31. PatrioticLiberalChristian(PLC) says:

If only this photo was the lead up to a real Thelma-Louise moment.

    Bush: “You were brilliant.”

Rummy: “Oh no I can’t take the credit baby, you were.”

That sounds like just about every regular troll who visits this site thinking they can convert us to that way of thinking.

If fact, it was IRI, I think who used to say that it was unpatriotic to question the President. Nevermind that the authors of the Constitution told us it was the most American thing one could do…
    .

  34. paul says:

Rumsfeld mismanagement of the war in Iraq obscured his admirable attempt at streamlining and cost cutting at the Department of Defense.
