outgoing counselor to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, was reportedly “eased out last month because he wasn’t on the same page with the administration. Some insiders felt there were suspicious leaks of his internal memos — taking issue with administration policy on Iraq and the Middle East — in books and articles.”

War Launched to Protect Israel – Bush Adviser
Emad Mekay
WASHINGTON, Mar 29 (IPS) – IPS uncovered the remarks by Philip Zelikow, who is now the executive director of the body set up to investigate the terrorist attacks on the United States in September 2001 — the 9/11 commission — in which he suggests a prime motive for the invasion just over one year ago was to eliminate a threat to Israel, a staunch U.S. ally in the Middle East.
Zelikow’s casting of the attack on Iraq as one launched to protect Israel appears at odds with the public position of President George W. Bush and his administration, which has never overtly drawn the link between its war on the regime of former president Hussein and its concern for Israel’s security.

December 18th, 2006 at 10:13 amStay the course or prepare to be sacked.Sounds well and seems to be the next neocon indoctrination phrase.
December 18th, 2006 at 10:20 amOur Secretary of Shoes has had quite a week, defending the indefensible, ‘easing out’ her top advisor for speaking the truth, rejecting the ISG report, refusing to consider talks with Syria or Iran.
December 18th, 2006 at 10:42 amGee, Condomsleeza, what brilliant move will we see next…shopping at Pravda while Baghdad burns?
Interesting that the Iraq Study Group also linked Iraq and Israel, which was quickly denied by Israel’s Prime Minister, Olmert. By the way, while Israel is called our “ally,” we do NOT have a treaty with them and never have.
December 18th, 2006 at 10:50 ameased out last month
Heh, sounds like they got rid of a turd or something.
December 18th, 2006 at 11:01 amSounds good to me, I hope he was fired with cause! Doesn’t matter if you agree or not, it’s not up to you as a member of something as significant as counseler to secratery of state or not. If you are in the employ of someone, anything that involves your work for them, especially if it is confidential or secret, is just that. Not treating it as such, is grounds for termination at every single workplace that hires people. In the even of being in the Armed forces and such, intentionally leaking information is punishible by the UCMJ. I hope they canned his sorry butt, and planted the boot so far he walks funny for a month.

Well, yeah…
He’s got to go get started outlining those books Condi’s going to write after GWB stops actively destroying this country.

You miss the point. Your comments work in the private sector, but not when it comes to the government. Public officials work for us, the citizen’s who pay for their wages with our taxes. We are the defact employers and we want our employees to tell us the truth and not hide behind some made up privilege to benefit the special interest.
Mr. Zelikow, like many others before, and those who will come after him, is a whistleblower of sorts. We rely on them to make our government transparent so we know what is really going on in this country. It is obvious that those above him in rank believe we should be kept in the dark.
But for people like Mr. Zelikow, we would have never known about the WMD lies, no Al Queda connection to Iraq, the arms for hostages fiasco of the 80’s, the Foley scandal, and the bribery of Dennis “Has turd” etc.
December 18th, 2006 at 12:15 pmHay Douglas, how about Cheney and Rove. Don’t they diserve the same fireing.? I think so, what say you.?
December 18th, 2006 at 1:00 pmThat’s the problem with corporate heads running this government – they believe they are the CEOs and can fire people for talking truth to power.
December 18th, 2006 at 1:03 pmWE are the owners of this government – they work for US. WE need to know the truth. WE need to hear the truth from employees that WE pay with tax dollars – we don’t fire them, even when the truth is painful. Bush, Cheney, Rice, et al work for US. WE are the boss. They treat us, their employers, as children to be kept uninformed about serious matters. That is the condition that must be changed. WE must be back in charge as the employers; THEY need to be constantly reminded that they work for US.
This bunch in office all need to go to jail first…..Then we need to prove to any in the future we will not allow this to happen again…Blessings
December 18th, 2006 at 1:40 pm#9, he doesn’t work for US, he works for Ms Rice.
#10, Cheney cannot be fired, but he can be held to standards, and legal repercussions can be had, rove on the other hand?? the same boot aforementioned. I am an equal opportunity booter…
