so now instead of just lying he will be lying under oath, if you will.

I’ll just summarize the events now:

Executive privilege, executive privilege, break for lunch, executive privilege, “What constitution?”, Libby gets a medal of honor and sues the prosecution for $10 million, and I go postal.

  5. RUCerious says:

    dorkster
you forgot the part where dick addresses the judge:
    Go f*ck yourself, your honor.

  6. unbelievable says:

Good… Now he can lie under oath and we can use THAT as a reason to impeach him…

  7. chimpeach says:

What book will he be swearing on? And will it burst into flames when he rests his palm on it? This’ll be fun to watch.

  8. VerbalKint says:

The prosecution should ask that Cheney’s testimony be forbidden on grounds that Cheney is a known psychopath.

His hand will start to smoke if he places it on a bible.

  15. midwestblue says:

I hate to say this, but I’m not all that impressed with Fitzgerald. He should have at least TRIED to charge Rove with something. According to the article, Fitzgerald said that he hadn’t planned to call Cheney. Why not? It looks to me as if Fitzgerald has been a timid prosecutor so far. I hope I’m wrong with my assessment.

  16. Mr Diddy Wah Diddy says:

    Great….call Pinocchio to testify, too!

  17. Marie says:

Has Fitzgerald said he wouldn’t cross examine Cheney? How would it be proven that Cheney lied (and therefore be subject to impeachment). Someone explain how this opening by the defense can be taken advantage of and work against Darth Cheney.
All of America should be sick of the blatant disregard for the law by Bush&Co, and every opportunity should be maximized.

  18. dlet says:

    PRESIDENT BUSH: Absolutely, we’re winning.

FREDERICK W. KAGAN: At the end of that, we would expect that we will have brought the security situation sufficiently under control.

Kissinger wrote, “Victory over the insurgency is the only meaningful exit strategy.”

These nebulous statements just prove these idiots don’t have a clue as to what they are doing.

  19. boy says:

    Fun TIMMMMMMMMMMMMME !!!!

  20. Bob says:

We need another reason to Impeach? Now that’s unbelievable!

  21. dlet says:

    Marie,
Fitzgerald first stated that he did not plan to call Cheney as a witnessed when he was asked about it. When the defense said they would it means that Cheney will be called as a witness and Fitzgerald will cross examine him. Fitz probably thought that calling Cheney wouldn’t help his case. But since he will be used by the defense Cheney’s testimony may be more damaging in my mind under cross examination.

  22. Mr Diddy Wah Diddy says:

How can you tell if Cheney’s lying?
That’s easy…words are coming out of his mouth.

  23. tony says:

    Hell has FROZEN over.

  24. Jackie says:

Fitzgerald is the man. I’d love to see Fitzgerald question Cheney as was done in the movie A Few Good Men. Yes Fitzgerald will say ” I want the truth, Cheney will reply ” you can’t handle the truth”. The results will be the same Cheney will crack under pressure and spill his guts thereby being arrested on the witness stand. What a great dream my Christmas wish is that it comes true.

  25. dumbstruck says:

I wonder if Cheney would jump if there was a huge crack of thunder when he laid his hand on the Bible to be sworn in????

  26. Clyde the Ripper says:

I’ll bet a Fifth (your brand or mine) Cheney takes the “Fifth” or commits perjury. There my friends, is the ultimate in “Win-Win”, “damned if you do-damned if you don’t” situations. I can’t lose but I can sure share my winningswith all that agree when Cheney is convicted of perjury. (Jesus fed the multitude with a loaf and a fish, do you suppose I can provide drinks for all of us from a fifth of Cutty Sark?)

  27. RUCerious says:

Cheney will tell the court to go “fifth” itselft at least 358 times.
On the first day of testimony.

  28. RUCerious says:

Hmmmmmm. I’ve never seen a Bible melt.
    I’d better tune in.

  29. proud conservative says:

Well, It is nice we are all in agreement.
The republicans are just like Hugo Chavez said, Satan himself and that the Democrats are all angels, with wings trumpet, flowing white gowns, having never done anything wrong. They have never lied under oath, never left someone to die in a car, never f— in the oval office, never had a shady land deal, never elected a judge to congress that has been impeached by the congress, never written a book that looks like born if it were written by a Republican. They haven ever-elected people with money in the freezer and assisted by National Guard to retrieve while others are drowning. We are saying we have never written a bill that deceived the voters, never had fraudulent voting cards submitted, never played the race card at every opportunity, never hired attorneys before and election in anticipation of loosing and needing to cry our foul. We are not a party that has a biased media with many stations covering our back side on every issue while not allowing others to hear the other side of the story.
Yep, Bush is a moral man and Cheney a man of dignity but they are never the less Republicans and worthy of all your hate speech

  30. loretta says:

I too had high hopes in Fitzgerald on the case. It seemed to be going along really well and then……stopped.
Oh well, he IS a Republican, after all.

  31. mr.ed says:

Irv needs a new lawyer. Who would want to have a guy with under 20% approval testifying for him? Hey- maybe that’s the strategy- appeal on the basis of insufficient representation. Damn clever.

  32. ForTruth says:

Will this be by subpeona? And if so, he can object on grounds of national security. Right?

  33. chimpeach says:

    #30 proud conservative

What the hell do you have to be proud of?!!

Tom DeLay? Randy “Duke” Cunningham? Abramoff? Scanlon? Kidan? Safavian? Claude Allen? Tom Noe? Dusty Foggo? Foley? Haggard? Gannon/Guckert? Scooter Libby? Sweat shops, forced prostitution, and forced abortions in the Marianas Islands? Halliburton and other GOP-friendly contractors ripping off taxpayers for billions of dollars?

I don’t have time for this. We’ve been through it too many times before. It’s just too bad about your crappy memory, pal. I wish you could remember just what a scummy, corrupt party you belong to and didn’t have to be reminded of all the investigations, indictments, resignations, and convictions of Republican congressmen and high party officials over the past few years.

When I have time, I’ll compile a list that I can keep handy just so I can cut and paste it into responses to “proud conservatives” like yourself who’ve been conveniently out to lunch every time one of their own gets busted. In the meantime, maybe someone else would like to continue the running GOP rap sheet for the benefit of your horseshit memory.

  34. Zooey says:

Will this be by subpeona? And if so, he can object on grounds of national security. Right?
    Comment by ForTruth

He can object and the subpoena could be quashed by the judge. Or he could just show up and site national security and refuse to answer. Then judge has to decide if “Dick’s” in contempt, and what he’s going to do about it, if anything.

The whole idea of this testimony is super fun, but “Dick” ain’t gonna put his ass on the line for Scooter Libby. End of story.

  35. tom baker says:

That’s way too funny – like OJ’s testimony in his trial. Who’s the giant human tootsie-pop that thinks that douchebag will hesitate to lie because he’s under oath?????

  36. WaltTheMan says:

Cheney is the biggest dick in the current administration.

Available in older posts section for free and at absolutely no charge. You have to read the whole thread to appreciate it.It`s a real gem.

Not so fast;I have one thing I’d like to add to this discussion.

Atleast twice in the last 50 posts, unbelievable said that she ‘doesn’t lie’.
Yet she told me,thus everyone else on this blog, last spring, that her Mother was dead. This turned out NOT to be TRUE.
Now answer your own question: What kind of person would say that about their own Mother just for the sake of winning an argument?
Now you all are beginning to see why I’ve had such acrimony with her in the past.

Just for the record,BnF, I never, ever, insulted her Mother, that’s if you were referring to something I might have said.
She told me her Mom was dead after I said she probably lives at home with her Mom.
All this can be found in the archives.
This is who you are dealing with, and she has no respect.

    Trueblue,

Of course, Unbelievable is offended by any remark about sexuality:

    Men’s peak is 17, and women’s is 40. I’m guessing I’m closer to 40 than you are to 17? :)

    and:

I think it’s a plot by women in their 40’s so they can get 17 year old men :)

I assure you, that’s mostly a guy fanatasy. As men age they get better in other ways. :)

    finally capped of by this:

If I were asked for a one line answer to the question “What makes a woman good in bed?” I would say, “A man who is good in bed.”

    - – Bob Guccione (1978)

    and the email Unbelievable misquotes?

“If I were asked for a one line answer to the question “What makes a woman good in bed?” I would say, “A man who is good in bed.”
    - – Bob Guccione (1978)
    Comment by unbelievable ”

amen to that!!! (care to put the hypothesis to a test? —just kidding…)

Perhaps it is Unbelievable who is envious of my spirituality. She has derided the thought of breathing a cloud away, yet I’ve taught others to do so as well.

Perhaps she was offended because I was just kidding. After all, I have mentioned on these boards that I wear a kilt. And you know what they say about a woman scorned. I mean, to take what I wrote and somehow twist that into insinuating that I, a married man, was interested in having an adulterous affair with someone who lives a couple of thousand miles away takes either dimentia, a great imagination, or wishful thinking.

And Trueblue, as you can see, a shaman would say “Amen.”

There’s another word, a greeting, I say to you:

    Namaste.

  43. expand your thinking says:

As posted by Michell on Her site
Former national security adviser Sandy Berger removed classified documents from the National Archives in 2003 and hid them under a construction trailer, the Archives inspector general reported Wednesday.

The report was issued more than a year after Berger pleaded guilty and received a criminal sentence for removal of the documents.

Inspector General Paul Brachfeld reported that when Berger was confronted by Archives officials about the missing documents, he said it was possible he threw them in his office trash.

The report said that when Archives employees first suspected that Berger – who had been President Clinton’s national security adviser – was removing classified documents from the Archives in the fall of 2003, they failed to notify any law enforcement agency.

Berger, who pleaded guilty to unlawfully removing and retaining classified documents, was fined $50,000, ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and was barred from access to classified material for three years.
