“Frankly, I don’t believe that more troops is the answer for Iraq. It’s a civil war and America should not be policing a Sunni-Shia conflict,” incoming Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) writes. “I do not support an escalation of the conflict. I support finding a way to bring our troops home and would look at any plan that gave a roadmap to this goal.”
I think his previous statement was taken way out of context..
even democracy now cut his audioclip in mid sentence..
December 19th, 2006 at 9:32 pmWill the official Dems stand for anything other than money? They are pathetic. Waffling in the face of a clear, realistic mandate to bring the troops home. Pathetic is the only word for it. But perhaps they are waiting and letting Bush make all the mistakes and take all the blame. The only problem is people are dying in the interim.
December 19th, 2006 at 9:43 pmThank God he cleared that up, I was starting to get worried. Either way Bushie is going to send in another 30,000 troops so that we can be a bigger target to the insurgents, and maybe even multiply the casualties. We need to get out now!

December 19th, 2006 at 9:48 pmAt least someone has called it what I’ve been yelling at the radio all week. It’s not a surge it’s a G-dd-mn escalation.
December 19th, 2006 at 9:51 pmReid needs to remember what election night 06 was all about.
December 19th, 2006 at 9:53 pmChange is needed, he’s a driver, not a damn passenger!
What is the latest on the Bush-McCain Iraq troop escalation?

December 19th, 2006 at 9:59 pmLooks like Chimpy is going to go against the recommendations of all of the Joint Chiefs. Wow.
If all Democrats stand firmly against all forms of escalation the line between the parties will be clearly drawn for ‘08. It will also put most Repugnacants in a horrible predicament: openly breaking with the president on Iraq – like the representative from Oregon recently did (was his name Smith??) – or losing in ‘08. It’s nice to watch them twisting slowly in the wind, but it is horrible that it is at the cost of even one more life lost in Iraq because of this bankrupt and criminal policy.
December 19th, 2006 at 10:00 pmGSD – With the 11% mandate, Bushites feel empowered to do whatever the hell they want to secure the chymp’s leg ass eee.
December 19th, 2006 at 10:21 pmWet-noodle Reid talkin’ smack.
December 19th, 2006 at 10:32 pmHarry Reid is for letting evil defeat good in this world. He should be censured. Then swiftly drug out of office on his ear.He and anyone who is against this war of good and evil should be publicly tried and executed.
December 19th, 2006 at 10:32 pmThank God he cleared that up.
My response:

December 19th, 2006 at 10:36 pmHarry,
Just impeach the useless bastard and help President Pelosi bring all our troops home for the Fourth of July fireworks.
One phone call is all it would take: “Madam Speaker if you can get the Bill of Impeachment to me tomorrow, we can celebrate the first woman President on the day after.”
December 19th, 2006 at 10:47 pmAnsweil Vachette, you really believe that the only way is GW’s? Do you believe that he’s a good job of protecting our own borders? Do you believe that the cuts he’s made (and the recently departed Republican majority) in VA healthcare was helpful to the brave soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan? Do you believe he rushed to get those soldiers all the proper equipment to fight these battles?
You may want to believe GW, but you can’t deny the inaction this pitiful administration has displayed.
December 19th, 2006 at 11:02 pmI am relieved to hear that he clarified his previous statement which was usually reported in an abbreviated form.
December 19th, 2006 at 11:19 pmThere is a lot that remains to be seen when the Dems take power in Congress in a few weeks.
Either way Bushie is going to send in another 30,000 troops so that we can be a bigger target to the insurgents, and maybe even multiply the casualties.
Where’s he going to get them? He’s depleted the forces we have, and nobody in their right mind would sign up now. Sounds like we’ll be outsourcing a few more Blackhawk troops…and they do cost a pretty taxpayer penny.
December 19th, 2006 at 11:29 pmYou blaspheme the Lord God`s name. How dare you sinner. You say it so casually it just slips off your tongue like nothing even happened.I will pray for you.For you salvation.

Give ‘em Hell!
I’m glad Idaho and Arizona are in the same time zone so I can catch all your goodies before I zonk. Soon!
December 19th, 2006 at 11:50 pmAnsweil Vachette – Please don’t pray for me. If there is a God, I know he will be on my side. You know, the side of peace and harmony and NOT KILLING 600,000 F***ING INNOCENT CIVILIANS!
ann – I know it is a stretch, but from what I have heard, we have about 140,000 unused reserve troops that have not seen battle yet. They could easily keep this up for a few more years, just hope that a Hurricane doesn’t slam into Ease Coast, or millions will die on his watch instead of just thousands.

Ah hell, Clyde. I’m so far north, I’m on Pacific Time, so you’ll miss some of my goodies. You’d be up for a refresher course, wouldn’t you? :)
December 19th, 2006 at 11:57 pmBravo to Sen. Harry Reid! Yes Bush butt wants to escalate the conflict in Iraq by sending more troops over there next year! It’s time for the Congressional membership to inform Dubya that unless he resigns, with Cheney, then they will be impeached forthwith!
December 20th, 2006 at 12:12 amI have alot of faith in Mr. Reid.He will vote to keep this war going so we can stamp out terrorism and the Muslims. They are threatening Christianity. This will not stand. When the Roman Catholic Church tell any nation to go to war, they go to war.Nations have no choice in the Vatican`s decisions. They all obey the Vatican.Even the United States of America. Our Vatican is the most powerful govt.and the most powerful banking establishment in the world. You cannot change this. Therefore you must come on board to be spared from noncompliance with the Lord our God.You have no real choice. Not at the end of the day. It`s God Almighty or nothing.

Thanks for the education! I have lived in Washington and have done business in Spokane and Couer d’ Alene, Idaho (I sold a magic porcelain mermaid doll that grew from 24″ to Five Foot Two if she was kept in the bathtub overnight) while staying at an RV park. Actually we left early the next morning before my theory was tested. Until I just looked it up I thought the time line followed the Washington-Oregon (except Ontario et al)-California borders (actually in Fort Mojave (Bullhead City)) Arizona we are farther west than you are.
December 20th, 2006 at 12:47 amHey Clyde,
Not sure I want to know anymore about the magical mermaid. Heh.
Riggins and everything north is on Pacific Time, south is on Mountain Time. It was a giant pain in the arse when I had to get something done with So ID — the lawyers never needed anything until after 4! My son goes to school in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, and I’m in Moscow.
December 20th, 2006 at 12:57 amHow about the Dems go on the offensive one of these days, huh?
December 20th, 2006 at 1:37 am(Reid): “I support finding a way to bring our troops home and would look at any plan that gave a roadmap to this goal.”
Bush is pretty sure to say that his roadmap is to (1.) escalate (”surge”) so we can (2.) win. Then we can (3.) bring the troops home — except of course for the ones needed to man all those permanent bases and protect our oil supply.
I assume his real strategy is to (1.) hang in there and never never admit we’ve lost. Then (2a.) if the Democratic congress forces his hand, blame them for making us lose, or (2b.) if we’re still bogged down in January 2009, blame his successor for not following through and winning. Meanwhile, (3.) hope for a miracle.

Josh P. @ 20: “… from what I have heard, we have about 140,000 unused reserve troops that have not seen battle yet.”
I haven’t heard anything about that, or I’d be wondering what those troops were trained and qualified for. If they turn out to be mostly cooks, clerks and truck drivers, they might not be much help in patrolling Iraq.
December 20th, 2006 at 1:47 amPlease do not let the muslims gain a foothold in America. It leads to all kinds of communications between them which invariably leads to thoughts of Allah which eventually leads to sleeper cells which eventually leads up to terrorists which eventually leads to bombings which eventually leads to killings. This viscous cycle of Islam and Islamists coming to America must stop now.You let them get setup, and before you know it they are like rabbits or mice, they are everywhere speaking that foreign lingo like no one knows what they are thinking. When we actually do know exactly what they are thinking. They go into a trance and then start murmuring Allah`s name and before you know it that demon spirit has taken ahold of the boy and twisted his soul up in black sashcloth trying to eat it alive for all eternity. This is why muslims and the muslim faith must be stamped out on a worldwide basis.I am all for congressman and senators to keep us safe from the roving bands.Muslims are trying to gain a foothold onto christian ideals and territories. We will not stand for this.I have alot of faith in Mr.

Not so fast;I have one thing I’d like to add to this discussion.
Atleast twice in the last 50 posts, unbelievable said that she ‘doesn’t lie’.
Yet she told me,thus everyone else on this blog, last spring, that her Mother was dead. This turned out NOT to be TRUE.
Now answer your own question: What kind of person would say that about their own Mother just for the sake of winning an argument?
Now you all are beginning to see why I’ve had such acrimony with her in the past.
Just for the record,BnF, I never, ever, insulted her Mother, that’s if you were referring to something I might have said.
She told me her Mom was dead after I said she probably lives at home with her Mom.
All this can be found in the archives.
This is who you are dealing with, and she has no respect.

Trueblue,
Of course, Unbelievable is offended by any remark about sexuality:
Men’s peak is 17, and women’s is 40. I’m guessing I’m closer to 40 than you are to 17? :)

amen to that!!! (care to put the hypothesis to a test? —just kidding…)
Perhaps it is Unbelievable who is envious of my spirituality. She has derided the thought of breathing a cloud away, yet I’ve taught others to do so as well.
Perhaps she was offended because I was just kidding. After all, I have mentioned on these boards that I wear a kilt. And you know what they say about a woman scorned. I mean, to take what I wrote and somehow twist that into insinuating that I, a married man, was interested in having an adulterous affair with someone who lives a couple of thousand miles away takes either dimentia, a great imagination, or wishful thinking.
And Trueblue, as you can see, a shaman would say “Amen.â€
There’s another word, a greeting, I say to you:
Namaste.

December 20th, 2006 at 4:53 am#23. I dont know which “god” you talk about but its certainly not the same “god” I learned about in confirmation classes. Your repeated reference to “god” in your diatribe reminds me more of radical Islamists who fly planes into buildings (”god” willing, of course) than it does the “god” I knew of back when I believed all that christianity bullshit. And, on another note, I’m a proud D from Virginia. Its always a pleasure to cancel out your misguided votes.
December 20th, 2006 at 5:17 amHarry Reid didn’t clarify anything. He flip-flopped. I heard him with my own two ears say that he would accept more troops “temporarily”, to assist our other troops in getting out of that hellhole. I can only assume his office was overwhelmed with telephone calls and emails to set him straight.
Don’t start playing politics with our troops lives. Each day that goes by without getting out, Americans are dying for NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Any Democrat who agrees to any “surge” of additional troops deserve to be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Milosevic, Saddam, Bush, they are are like peas in a pod. There is NO difference between any of them. If the Democrats want to assist this war criminal in killing more innocent Iraqi’s and brave American troops, then they too should rot in prison.
