Where will we get the extra troops if kids are not enlisting (wisely)? Why, the military recruiters should set up their tables in the lobbies of the churches of the religious right who were in favor of this war to begin with. After the service they could come out and say 'here take MY child'. Then stand back and watch the outcry.

I concur, until we see the twins in flak jackets, on the front lines, there really is no sense in thinking this will be brought home to the hearts of the first family. Even then, he doesn't seem like the kind who could put himself in another's shoes. Proven, he does not play well with others. John Wayne is too much of an isolationist to understand this is a global problem, caused by himself. It was a sham from the get-go.

Yes, the Democrats will have to suggest the draft be reinstated, but for the reason of more equity in poor kid vs. rich kid. Nonetheless, they will be to 'blame' by the Republicans who got us into this mess to begin with. You may say 'they all voted on it' but that is because they did not have the facts - hidden by our leader as with so many other issues.

For example, remember Richard Foster, the head actuary who went before the Ways and Means committee to say how he had given Bush the cost figures of Medicare; Bush went to Congress with a much less figure and told Foster to keep his mouth shut until after the vote. Later Congress had to scramble to come up with the extra non-budgeted funds because they had voted without having all the facts. This is standard operating procedure, along with enacting laws over the heads of our legislators on Friday nights after everyone has gone home. The media briefly touches on it (if ever). It is promptly buried over the weekend to avoid backlash.

Remember after the first 'election' he was heard to say 'this would be a lot easier if it were a dictatorship, as long as I was the dictator' and one of his assistants laughed. Funny, eh?

If our troops are over there fighting for our 'freedom' why are our rights being taken away? Between ignoring the many highly intelligent folks, trying to dodge giving information to the 9/11 commission even under threat of subpoena, and the Iraq committee (he'd 'take the information under advisement'), letting our Dept of Justice run amuck; lying about hidden prisons, 'we don't torture' (no, he outsources it!) not to mention the silent writing of signing letters to legislation slipping in his evil ways of sneak and peeks, wiretapping of phones, intercepting mail....of course we all could go on and on. Paranoid? Who wouldn't be! It's not just for mental cases anymore. These are the 'freedoms' that our troops are fighting for. Do they know what is going on here?

A touch of humor...Last week I was approaching the parking garage downtown, and driving in was delayed by a huge Hummer trying to slowly drive under the height limit bar so it wouldn't scratch the top of the vehicle. It swung like Tarzan when he finally made it through. Then he couldn't decide which of the gates was higher to approach, taking up the whole entryway. The rules weren't for him. The funny part: It had "HOOTERS" name on every surface and, most of all, a sticker on the back that said 'support our troops.'

We can support them by bringing them home. As one of those 47% of 'unpatriotic' people who had to listen to the spew of 'mandate' I would suggest that since the approval rating has been so low for so long that we declare a new 'mandate' and stop funding the war that George's Uncle Bill and Halliburton keep lining their pockets with. I also agree that Pelosi should not determine just yet that there should be no attempt at impeachment or censure! Hey, if a president can be impeached for lying about a stained blue dress, this certainly would qualify as something worth more than that. All those lives wasted.

Well, at least his vengence is served by Saddam's hanging. After all, Saddam was the one that tried to go after his father.

What a mess he has made of our country. We can't afford even another year. I will take the advice of a prior writer and begin to send faxes to my senator and representative tomorrow. I had been emailing. I don't know how anyone can support Bush, and I think it's waaay over time for us to speak up.

After the first 'election' I wrote to half of Congress saying that the world would not take the election seriously, we would be the laughingstock, and our national security would be compromised because he would divide (thereby weakening) the country. But I guess God told the Decider to go out and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Hmm, if other leaders of the world were to say that God spoke to them, we would think they are nuts. That is what the world thinks of him. And thus, us. Not in My Name.

I have been so frustrated with people who are more interested in who will be the next American Idol winner, barely listening to the sound bytes of the bought off media. They are too busy to read deeper and get their heads out of the sand. Thank you for the opportunity to vent and sorry it's so long.

Now that nearly everything the army does has been outsourced to profit-seeking corporations, it hardly matters whether we are losing - much of the excessive profits return to politicians as campaign contributions to fund ads like those that portrayed Kerry as a flip-flopper or fund "independent" efforts like the Swift Boaters, and decent politicians lose elections. Until we have public financing of Congressional campaigns, money will defeat truth. The military-industrial complex was hard enough to challenge before; now that it is peeling the potatoes and doing the laundry, it is practically impossible. We all need to work for public campaign finance. Pelosi's priority list sounds great, but public financing of Congressioinal campaigns did not seem to be on it.
As for not supporting the troops, Congress can set a reasonable deadline which allows enough time for an orderly withdrawal. After that, there would be no more funds. If Bush ignores the deadline, it would be Bush who is not supporting our troops.

Department of defense officials disclose to Bush their strategy for inflicting more damage to the terrorist movement:
“Sir we have been considering the advantage of bringing in more troops but the problem is that the military is too far stretched at this point.”

Bush replies: “Well ok I'm with ya and I'm 100 percent behind you on this how about I increase your budget and we up the recruiting goal?”

Generals reply: Great then that seems like the best approach at this time then.

Walking bag of crap liberal henchman at the Pentagon sneaks out the door runs to MSNBC leaking classified information like a stuck pig. Frantically flailing his arms he screams "Bush is bribing the DOD!"

Stupid idiot prosecutor Fitzgerald does not seem to notice that this is a leak of classified information that needs to be investigated.

Brian Williams puts on his "I'm so very concerned about this looks like someone got caught with their hand in the cookie jar" face and then proceeds to disseminate propaganda out of his mouth like that Blair chick in "The Exorcist" spewed vomit passes it successfully off as news rather than what it is.

ThinkProgress.org does what they perceive to be their part and forwards the propaganda filth along.

You all should be so very proud.

I would suggest that anyone who still believes that war is justified, to read the Nuernberg trials (1946).
It clearly states that any war of agression is a war crime........
It further stated that the defense :"I had to follow orders" does not excuse the acts of an individual.
Look what happened to the German Generals who followed orders - they were executed.

and BTW, the you know why we are fighting Muslims? because they are the last bastion against the NWO. Christianity capitulated years ago. Most of its leaders if not all are part of the illuminati. Many Muslim leaders also are part of the illuminati, but the true mujhideens ( the fighters ) know too well about the NWO and they prefer to die than surrender and they are winning. Pray for them because they are fighting for you too.

Merry Christmas amerikkka,
Things not going the way you planned, not getting everything you wanted for Christmas? I wonder why?
Yes, send more troops into the illegal invasion of a sovergn nation, to fight a war based on LIES LIES LIES all the time. Those sons and daughters will be forced to kill, and possibly die, for your idiot president and his good friend, israel zionist olmert.
I have an excellent idea. Why don't you send the sons and daughters of your elected officials, and all 18 and older jewish israeli amerikkkans, to fight in this war, a war to protect tiny israel (and its huge nuclear arsenal) from those pesky arabs. At least this way, the vested interests of israel will be served by those who feel the need to do so, directly. And if they die, it will not be in vain, as it would be for true Americans. Let zionists fight for themselves, and let the good christian Americans live and love, in peace. Amen, or shalom, if you prefer...

Look for an inside assassination job on Decider in '07...he has become a HUGE political liability to the VP and Poppy, thus all the talk about florida shrub's great credentials (gimme a f**king break!). If the Generals had any cohones at all, they would arrest the whole bunch of them on Sedition and Treason charges. JHawk

Nice
I am happy to hear that America is getting a major ass kicking in Iraq and other places in the world. Our men are good at raping helpless women and killing disarmed people. But the Iraqis are really putting the hammer on the G-dles pigs.

I believe that this "surge" is to have more military on the right side of the ocean in event of a "necessary" attack on Iran. The US government does not represent it's people, and nothing it says can be taken at face value. I would gladly give up my life to prevent Canada joining a union with the US. Fortunately. the more this administation screws up, the less likely we'd be willing accomplices in that fiasco.
