Something to look foward to in 2007.

    If only we voted Republican

Now President Bush and VP Dick Cheney are going to make out with the Saudi Prince in a hot three-way so he’ll drive up the prices

  2. ForTruth says:

    It’s all the Democrats’ fault!

  3. trueblue says:

I was just thinking about how $10.00 filled my Toyota Corolla’s tank 9 years ago. Now it’s ~ $27.00.
Ugh. What will it be in another year? Two? Five?

  4. freebird9 says:

    up up and away.

We knew it, we knew it. Bush and Cheney and their buds must be really happy. While the rest of us are screwed!!

  5. slum says:

this isnt really news is it? we knew this would happen.

same site has a nifty commentary though > http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1227/p09s02-coop.html?s=itm

  6. slum says:

this isnt really news to anyone who has been reading anything this year. i loved how my coworkers smiled when october came around last year and prices fell. “see?” yeah, i see, now the elections are over so its back to business, see?

interestingly horrible commentary on that same site

  7. Zooey says:

Our gas is $2.57 now, for f*ck’s sake.

  8. trueblue says:

Wow. Then filling up my tank would definately be over 30.00 where you are, Zooey.

  9. Zooey says:

    true,

Isn’t that nuts? They say we’re an “outlying area,” but there are true outlying areas in Idaho, such as frickin’ Kooskia, where the gas is cheaper!

If I can make it down to the reservation, I can get gas for $2.34, which still seems a bit high compared to other places.

  10. DutchHenry says:

Why are we paying $2.57/gal for gas when a 8wks ago it was $2.10/gal ? The Dems should really be looking at this for starters.Call your congress-person folks it’s the only way they will take action.

  11. trueblue says:

$2.33 is the cheapest I’ve seen it on Cape Cod.
    grrrrrrr

Ya’ll need to git yerself a reservation!

  13. ItsJustKarma says:

I am looking at $ 2.89 regular right now. Actually that was before Christmas…
But I can tell You one thing. Buckle up it’s gonna be a bumpy ride. I see $ 5.99 regular at Aloha. Actually not.
Because I believe that whole thing is not sustainable with gas prizes above 4 dollars for regular. With 6 dollar per gallon the ‘great depression’ of the twenties will look like Disneyland in comparison to what we will experience.
Don’t worry though. If Your personal karma is good, nothing will (should) happen to You. People survived WWII without knowing that there was ever such a thing.

  14. trueblue says:

    You’re funny, Zooey!
We do have the Wampanog (sp?) tribe here, but no reservation – that I know of.

Gotta go to sleep. Hard day. Emotionally spent.

    Good Night!
    :)

  15. ItsJustKarma says:

I like the potato chips from Cape Cod.

  16. Zooey says:

  17. veritas says:

Why am I not surprised? Of course, two big oilmen in the white house can control gas prices. Chavez made fools of them by giving away gas to the needy. hah!

  18. Coffins Draped with flags says:

Surprise, surprise. Of course gas prices will be rising. It doesn’t matter who is in power, the cost of gasoline will always rise AFTER an election.

  19. Briseadh na Faire says:

prices went up 5% the day after the election in my area.

how much do you think they’ll go up during impeachment hearings?

  20. JTitor says:

Try living in California where a gallon of gas is $2.87+ in the rural areas. San Francisco over $3.00.

  21. Zooey says:

President Ford died tonight in California, CNN reporting.

  22. QUALAR says:

Nationalize the industry. Could costs us more than the current gouging.

  23. RUCerious says:

Gerry Ford was a good man, a better man than most presidents, but basically a bumbling clod.

  24. Jay Randal says:

Well the news tomorrow will be about the death of Gerald Ford, an appointed president like Bush Junior, who became president after Richard Nixon resigned. Ford lost in 1976 to Jimmy Carter, so Ford was one of the shortest serving presidents > he served just over 2 years.

  25. Jay Randal says:

As for Bush Senior he was a young CIA agent at the time of JFk’s murder in Dallas, Texas, so he has some knowledge about it, but has become senile so he will never reveal it. If he died, then Junior might go totally insane, so I hope Senior lives for 2 more years, till Junior is out of the presidency anyways!

  26. Jay Randal says:

Specter has cancer, so he could die relatively soon. His cancer is in temporary remission, so when it comes back he could drop dead very suddenly.

  27. INSANE says:

Gas prices have tripled in Europe

  28. ItsJustKarma says:

In Germany the equivalent of $ 8 per gallon regular. That’s what my dad told me on christmas.

  29. Curlew says:

Geez…could this have anything to do with the elections being over? Funny how we didn’t have any elevated “terror” threats after the election either. I guess that means Dumbya is keeping us safe, huh?

  30. hypocricy patrol says:

don’t worry…they will drop again before the 2008 election

  31. Matt says:

You MORONS. Gas prices are NOT GOING UP.
The DOLLAR IS GOING DOWN. Please, please,
get a clue, my lefty brethren. It is rampant inflation,
caused by money printing to pay for the war, and
it is going to drive the nominal price of everything
you need to live through the roof, as too much cash
    chases too few hard assets.

  32. Bluedog49 says:

Matt: “You MORONS. Gas prices are NOT GOING UP.
    The DOLLAR IS GOING DOWN.”

The dollar was going down before the last election, chucklehead, but the price of gas went down. Then, it started going up again after the election. If it’s because of a weak dollar now, why was it down before the election when the dollar was also weak. We await your wise and arrogant judgement on this. Educate us please!

Everyone should read the Tipping Point as a good start in understanding what we are in now and will soon experience:

  34. Douglas G. says:

Wise up folks, hasn’t been a new refinery built in 30 years. Until we start building nuclear power plants and getting off oil/coal, and put ourselves in a better position, your going to have to suck it up.

  35. one American who changed says:

Americans can only blame themselves for what is going on now and then. Put the blame aside and get to being the “new” American for the future.

  36. The Radical Left says:

Actually, the outlook is good and just improved again today.

I know the left is praying for a horrible economy almost as much as they are praying for death in Iraq, but no one is buying. People are too busy shopping and driving their Hummers around.

Besides with Democrats in power, you want a good economy. The temptation to raise taxes will destroy Dems who won races in red districts.

  37. Bluedog49 says:

Douglas G, you have been an enthusiastic supporter of a republican congress which gave huge tax breaks to those buying gas quzzlers and cut the breaks for those driving hybrids, so you’re in no position to pontificate on this.

  38. Bluedog49 says:

Open your eyes, chucklehead. The Hummer lots are chock full and there’s a waiting list for hybrids. And, how would you suggest we pay down our debt, strengthen the dollar and balance the budget? Voodoo?

  39. tom baker says:

51 – it comforts me to no end knowing that you’ll be taking it in the shorts just as hard as the rest of us as the dollar plummets, the gas prices climb, and good jobs become a “old-timey” story grandpa tells at the holiday dinner table. fact is, i can take a lot more punishment and hardship than the average righty – any time, any day, any way….

  40. God is a Nihilist says:

“People are too busy shopping and driving their Hummers around.”

Yes, in your little dream world………

    Comment by The Radical Left

What the hell are you talking about? Lets get some thing straight here. For the past 40 years we have suffer the greatest debts under “Republican” administrations. Thats why the true conservatives are leaving this fu*ked up party in droves. Someone buys this debt…hmmm lets see, umm…CHINA, SUADI ARABIA, Japan, Germany, Brazil……This means that foriegn interests own more of America then Americans do.

Under Clinton administration we wiped the debt out and had 251 billion in surplus. In 5 years under the NeoCons we have a U.S. public debt as of December, 30, 2005, it was $8,170 billion (or $8.1 trillion). The Bush administration now sees showing the numbers for 2006 as a national security risk and has not. Presently; The debt equates to $28,412 per head of the U.S. population, or $58,390 per head of the U.S. working population.
Oh but wait a second I got 550 dollors in tax breaks, so the NeoCons must be better…fu*king wake up you moran! This president is killing this country.

    Only assholes drive Hummers.

It was Nikita Khrushchev. I believe he said it to Kennedy.
It’s taken about 40 years but looks like it’s starting to happen.

  45. TerrytheTurtle says:

Roger Roger – where are you buddy? Still gambling on that $1.15 a gallon gasoline by March 21st? Or did you have to pawn your laptop to cover the shortfall on your ARM?

  46. SKdeA says:

    #59, calm down, I’m a girl, not a girly-man!
    Sheesh.

  48. criticalthinker says:

    Re#62

And where did the ENERGY come from to run that 12 volt air compressor, magic?

The problem is that internal combustion engines are INEFFICIENT and can convert no more than 35% of the ENERGY in the fuel into MOTION, the other 65% is wasted as HEAT.

The solution is cars like the Tesla that are plug in electrics, because electric motors are more than 90% EFFICENT.

The gasoline INEFFICENTLY being burned in car engines, can instead be EFFICENTLY burned in gasoline turbine electric generators instead, while the infrastructure for renewable energy based on small distributed networks is built.

Electric photovaltic cells could be put on every building along the space between the sidewalk on the curb on every street, across the vast desert wastelands and so on.

That electricity could be used to split water into hydrogen, so that the hydrogen can be used to generate electricity a night when the sun is not shining.

Plants like hemp and soybeans also produce oils that could also be used to generate electricity.

The sun provides all the ENERGY this planet needs, all we have to do is use photo volitic cells and plants to capture that ENERGY and turn it into electricityy.

What is oil anyway, but dead compressed plant matter!

  49. Zooey says:

    And a asshole.

    Damn. Be nice!
