I see nothing “decent” or “democratic” in the way that Iraq has been commandeered by a regime that is just as brutal as the one it evicted.

One word: NO. Stupid people, like pretty much everyone who supported this war, don’t understand this simple idea. The current sociological climate of the mideast makes religious nuts and religious parties one of the most powerful, and also most unreasonable forces in this region. At this point in history, its a choice between brutal secular dictators and the brutal religious fanatics they repress.

I thought Saddam was an ok guy. If any of you think that the people who have replaced him are any less brutal your kidding yourself. Saddam had a relatively “humane” execution and show trial simply because the AMericans didnt want it to turn into more of a public relations nightmare than its already is going to become. I can guarantee you, the stuff going on in IRaqi controlled prisons now isnt any more humane than they were under saddam’s rule. These Shia death squads and thier electric drills to the head arent any nicer than Saddam goons were. They are all just gangs wearing different colors. And us moronic americans just empowered the gang whose idealogy is far closer to Bin Laden’s than Saddam’s secular government ever was.

Beleive me, before this is over, we are going to be wishing we could just gas large amounts of Shia like saddam did. Just to give you in an idea of the people we are dealing with.. Al Sistani, the bigwig Shia guy, for instance, recently issued a fatwah commanding that homosexuals be killed.
These days in IRaq women are regularly attacked and harassed for not wearing burquas, and BARBERS are being killed for offending Allah by shaving beards.

This is kind of stuff didnt happen when saddam was running the country. His Baath party actually made some pretty signifigant (in the middle east context) advances in education and women’s rights.

But then again, the neanderthal bimblehumper religious nuts that run THIS country are probably delighted that tens of thousands of american soliders have been maimed or killed and nearly a trillion american dollars spend so we could put violent homophobes and misogynists in power in another country.

Yes, these sort of the people are the allleged “good guys” in IRaq. Scaaary..

Why is it that GWB’s daughters must go to Iraq? Last time I checked this was an all volunteer force. If someone doesn’t feel they are ready to commit to the military, they don’t sign up.

No one is saying its safe for American civilians to travel in Iraq. It is a pretty big leap to say Iraq is absolutely safe when a member of the administration says the civil war is nothing more than a creation of the American media. I thought liberals were the ones that understood nuance. Apparently not.
