President Bush and Vice President Cheney repeatedly gushed

about General George Casey over the past year, despite recent claims by administration officials that the President “grew concerned” about Casey.

  4. Zooey says:

Keith Olbermann kicked kicked ass AGAIN with his Special Comment. If you missed it, catch it on the repeat or C&L.

  5. kdoug says:

This is what you get when you run a war with “photo-ops”, politicize foreign policy, ignore the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, Generals and think that having a 3 hour meeting is “working hard.” Casey is just the latest “voice of reason” to be sacrificed at the alter of George W. Bush’s ego. His intransigence can only end with his impeachment.

  6. Bowdler says:

Almost everything Bush states is either a lie or highly misleading. The current argument for a troop “surge” is also so. From what I understand, there are no spare troops. The only way to achieve a “surge” is to increase the tour of the troops that are there, and to decrease the leave of the troops that have recently left. People that argue for or against a surge, are arguing about a non-existent point. It is nothing but further abuse.

  7. Willy says:

Are they also gushing about Bush being the “torture President”. CNN is posting new stories about the abuse at Gitmo. What has this mis-guided administation done to what previously has been a compassionate and fair nation. The good news is that this U.S. will bounce back after macho-boy-weasel-chimp leaves (or is removed from) office.

  8. Bowdler says:

3: unbelievable: Scarborugh is a show on MSNBC. I could see if a person didn’t get cable they might think that the statement “Judd is on Scarborough right now” would be akin to “Judd’s on drugs right now.” As if to say they disagreed vehemently with him. Au contraire. I often agree with Judd, and highly appreciate both Think Progress and The Daily Progress Report. As a show of appreciation any time I see Judd on TV I fire up the computer and try to alert my fellow TPers, as Judd is apperently to modest to anounce his TV appearances.

  9. JerryTheAngel says:

The Congress should forget about conducting hearings on the war when they return to DC. What they need to do is to start impeachment hearings immediately. George W Bush is a raving lunatic who is unfit to be the Commander In Chief.

“I sleep better then most people think” That’s something you would expect to come out of the mouth of a Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahlmer if they were asked if they have trouble sleeping at night after killing so many people. He is bragging about his peaceful sleep, while our brave troops die in Iraq???

This SICK Chickenhawk who is going to his grave REALLY thinking he is another FDR or Churchill probably thinks he is Napoleon too. There’s always one of those in every sanitarium. Bush is NUTS.

This isn’t hype or exagerration either. It’s not my purpose to score political or debating points for progressives, by using over the top rhetoric.

“Now where did those WMD’s go (he looks under the podium he is standing at)”I know they must be here someplace” He’s sleeps well at night and is comfortable telling jokes about the lie that is responsible for MASS MURDER.

Somebody buy Bush a bag of pretzels. This nutjob needs to be put out of his misery.

  10. JTitor says:

All’s I have to say is Keith Olbermann for President.

Totally speechless….Zooey did you see him right at the end almost shed a tear he was so impassioned by what he was saying. Please everyone write MSNBC and tell them what an incredible person Keith Olbermann is: Email Keith Olbermann

  11. JTitor says:

Seen it Bowdler, and knew what you meant. Probably the best Keith Olbermann then a decent Scarborugh…whats the world coming too?

  12. Bowdler says:

Bush stated: “I sleep better then most people think”. Since he is a complete idiot we can safely assume he confused the order of his words. It should read: “I think like most people sleep better.”

  13. Zooey says:

    JTitor,

Every time I see Keith give a Special Comment, I think it’s the best one — the most impassioned one. This one was the most intense I’ve seen so far, it looked like he was shaking, he was so angry. I did think he was going to lose it. I’ll send an email. Thanks for the link.

  14. Bowdler says:

I didn’t notice the tear on Olberman, but I did see the expression of naked disgust at the end.

  15. JTitor says:

    Bush needs to be impeached…NOW.

Please everyone fax or telephone your congress person. Below is a link of the fax/telephone numbers for all of congress:

If you fax please follow the instructions below or most won’t read them:

    1. Send your fax on a letterhead if you have one.

    2. State the topic in a heading or opening sentence.

    3. Include your own name and mailing address.

    4. Be very clear how you stand, and why.

The world is waiting for Bush New Year resolution. End of 2006 was so dramatic with rope around Saddam’s neck, came after many consultions he made with Prime Minister Al-Maliki in a trip to Jordan, then followed by Shiate leader..Al Hakim in Washington…then Sunni leader Al-Hashemni, all came after firing Rumsfeld, appointing Gates….losing the GOP influence on the Congress…but now he found the best advise is to follow Lieberman and McCain with a ’surge’ toward ‘victory in the making’ entering the fifth year into this war in March 2007.

  24. Zooey says:

    Comment by unbelievable

Keith was almost yelling his entire comment. It was about GWB’s intention to send more troops into Iraq to save face. He didn’t use the words “save face,” but that was the premise. C&L will probably have it, or maybe U-tube.

I want to have Keith’s babies — and that would be a real commitment on my part. :)

  25. Bowdler says:

18: “The patronization wasn’t necessary.” the patronization wasn’t intended for you. It was intended for to keep some of my more objectionable (by TP standards) (i.e. Isreal = apartheid) unbanned.

Too bad Keith doesn’t get more exposure, as he is the only media person with any balls.

  32. Bowdler says:

26: My guess for the new plan forward is: increased troops.
Remember when Gates went to Iraq right after he was installed? He met with some privates, and as young kids are wont to do, one of them impertinently offered a suggestion to Gates. He suggested that they send more troops. My experience with impertinent youthful suggestions is that they would propose something stupider, such as: “We want to have the new X-Box” or “Can we get Howard Stern?” The fact that they “impertinently” suggested just what Bush et al was plotting to do leads me to only one conclusion: they were plants. The propaganda fix is in.

For Truth, disgusting, and funny……”Kinky is using a feather, Perverted is using the whole chicken”

Last night, as we mourned the 3,000+ troops and 650,00+ Iraqis needlessly dead, I held a vigil candle and a placard that read: Impeachment Purge – NOT Deadly Surge!

Until we impeach the current corrupt president (and his president in charge of Vice) the deadly duo will continue to kill our troops and thousands of Iraqis, without shedding a tear or without a pang of remorse.

If those two don’t deserve impeachment and removal, I simply can’t imaginee a high crime or misdemeanor that would deserve it.

i learned something new when my kids were home… it’s called a “rule breaker” – the person you can sleep with and not suffer negative repurcussions from your significant other… for my son, it’s tina fey (!) and for his girlfriend it’s sacha baron cohen (!!)… i’m so proud…

  48. Jules says:

katy – you are telling me that you and a significant other did not ever have a “list.”

OMG – we joke about it all the time. Keith is number one on my list. Mine is not too long. My husband adds to his and then forgets who is on it.

Terry – I am unsure my hasband was terribly worried about Ms. Cruz’s mental state or questionable judgement when he made that particular call. Lets just say he is a visual learner.

Well, Zooey, I knew that Keith would be up on crooksandliars…the same cannot be said of the Wings game.

Plus, tonight wasn’t just a mere game…it was also the jersey retirement ceremony for Steve Yzerman…required watching if you’re a resident of Hockeytown. ;)

TripMaster – sorry about the Michigan loss….I am jumping to the conclusion that as you are a Wings fan, you are from Michigan. 55. Wayne A. Schneider says:

President Bush and Vice President Cheney repeatedly gushedabout General George Casey…

“Gushed”? Like little school girls? The image amuses me.

Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment was, as they often are, incredible! Once again, he has found a way to say what needs to be said to this fraud of a chief executive currently “occupying” the White House (and I don’t mean in the sense of “residing”.) It’s time for President Bush to go!

  56. Larry from C says:

Katie Couric, Bryan Williams, Charles Gibson need to take a good long look at ALL of Keith Olberman’s Special Comments. That is what a real newsperson is. That is what a real newsperson does. Keith puts it all on the line: his job, his standing, his credibility and even his life. And he makes pennies compared to all you.

Time after time Katie, Bryan, Charles you let us down. Ignoring, Skewing and Minimizing stories that hurt the corporate owners who sign your checks. Corporate owners who’ve pledged their loyalty to Buscho. Katie, Bryan, Charles: had you done your job we wouldn’t be in this war. 2/3 of a million Iraqis wouldn’t be dead. 3,000 Americans wouldn’t be dead. Iraq wouldn’t be polluted with radioactive dust that’s going to sicken millions for the next million years. That’s how powerful and important your job is. You could’ve prevented all this.

Katie, Bryan and Charles: watch Keith Olberman please and learn what courage is. Try and remember how important your job is. Dare to speak the truth. Hold nothing back. Keith holds nothing back.

  57. Jaded Prole says:

Olberman has earned the title of journalist whereas Cheney and Bush have earned the titles of Traitor as mass murderer. We need a focused mass campaign to remove them from office as well as to end their madness.

  58. impeachcheneythenbush says:

I’ve seen Judd the last couple times on tv, and was not impressed. The first time I saw him, he was arguing AGAINST impeachment. Last night, he said that the new Democratically-led Congress shouldn’t vote down the new emergency supplemental. That they shouldn’t fund “the surge” but should probably continue to approve funding for the current 150,000 in country. (Actually, I think it’s closer to 134,000 right now). Sorry, but anybody who says we should both keep the current administration in power AND continue the war is not my idea of a Progressive.

Let’s see how long this post lasts before it’s removed!

Then they can remove mine, too, because I find myself agreeing with this statement. Progressives do not want the war to continue or this adminstration to be allowed to do any more damage to our country.

now, if only he had better exposure…

    just sayin’…

  62. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    katy,

So you’re saying it’s the Center for American Progress that supports both continued war and an unfettered Bush administration? If they do, that would disappoint a lot of people besides me.

Perhaps Mr. Podesta, or some other senior person at CAP above Mr. Legum (no offense, Judd) could explain why the CAP has this policy. I would like to know why they think continued war is in our best interests, and why allowing the president’s crimes to go unchecked and unpunished would be better than demonstrating to the rest of the world that we mean it when we say that we are a nation of laws. I would really like to hear their explanation.

  63. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    To Mr. John Podesta,

Why does the CAP not endorse impeaching (and removing) this president for his many high crimes and misdemeanors? Many say that the impeachment of Mr. Clinton divided the country too much and that the American people would not support impeachment. This is untrue. It wasn’t the i>impeachment that the American people didn’t like; it was the mis-use of impeachment that they rejected. The Republicans did it just to mess up Mr. Clinton;s life because they viscerally hated him (and his wife.) There was no compelling national interest in punishing Mr. Clinton with removal from office because he didn’t want his wife to know he had an affair. But there are MANY compelling reasons to impeach Mr. Bush for his numerous crimes.

Mr. Podesta, don’t make the same mistake so many in Washington make. Just because something was done badly doesn’t mean it shouldn’t ever be attempted again. The Republicans failed before because no matter how solid their case was for lying under oath, it still didn’t warrant removal from office. Are you going to make the claim that Mr. Bush’s lies do NOT warrant removal from office? I, and a lot of people who post here, would really like to hear that explanation. So why not join in the conversation? Tell us why you oppose impeaching Mr. Bush for his numerous high crimes and misdemeanors? (And remember: Ours isn’t the stupid side.)
