  1. RealityCheck says:

We are supporting a Shia majority puppet government, which means we are basically supporting Iran’s expanding influence in Iraq, all the while we are threatening to attack Iran. Of course, in killing Sadaam we are also doing the bidding of Iranians, who hate him more than George does, without it costing the Iranians a dime. Go figure.

  2. Rick Brannon says:

Bush has created a Shia Crescent from Iran into Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, destabilizing Gulf countries and posing a challenge to the US. He is the most irresponsible, disastrous president ever witnessed by our Republic.

  3. Clyde the Ripper says:

    Mr Brannon,

If you choose to run to replace DUHbya, you have my vote.

  4. Paul in LA says:

The idea that it was ‘botched’ is ludicrous. Bushco’s various disclaimers are such tired lies from such tired liars that it is a shame that so many people still bite the bait and look proud of themselves.

Did Bushco want Hussein to be a martyr? You damn skippy.

“We are supporting a Shia majority puppet government, which means we are basically supporting Iran’s expanding influence in Iraq” –RealityCheck

Iran supports, and has long supported, the Shi’ites in Iraq. Both Sadr’s group and the SCIRI are paid for by Iran, going back a decade at least.

Bushco is not ‘threatening’ to attack Iran, it is in the final stages of DOING so.

WHY did Bushco try to turn Hussein into a martyr? Because, dear friends, the POLICY HAS BEEN CIVIL WAR FROM THE START.

    I’ll second that.

    is it too late?

  7. Darryl Mason says:

In the centre of Sydney yesterday afternoon, two eight year old school boys are waiting for a bus. Both have Saddam’s execution video on their mobile phones. All their friends have it as well, according to the conversation I overheard.

The bus takes ten minutes to arrive, the two boys watch the execution over and over again.

“What a legend,” one kid says, “Look at his face. He’s not scared of dying.”

“I’d be sh.ting myself,” his frend says, “I’d be heaps scared.”

“Me, too. My dad said Saddam didn’t kill nowhere near as many as Bush did.”

“Yeah,” his friend says, “Bush killed more than Hitler.”

This is also why it matters.

And their parents were probably worried about them watching porn.

    They’ve found something better.

    WarSnuff.

  8. SKdeA says:

Whoa Darryl Mason, you have given me chills.
Too bad they will probably end up drafted.

why do folks show surprise that the adminonostra would do this? why the naive view on what they want? honestly. they only want war and oil. it makes them a ton of money, and there is nothing that is going to make them quit except arrest
    let us wake tfu.

  11. Sharon Cox says:

I agree oldtree, what a terrible deadly mess our country and the world is in because of a few greedy, insane war mongers…..Blessings

  12. Sam Thornton says:

It’s strange. Hussein exhibited courage, strength, and a quiet self possession at his moment of death after being confined for months in a 6 by 8 cell and heckled by ghouls at the last. His final words were a prayer. What circle of hell have we sunk to?

  13. Paul in LA says:

    Disgusting what you’re saying, Sam.

“Hussein exhibited courage, strength, and a quiet self possession”

Those qualities, outside of their context in action, have ZERO inherent virtue.

“He exibited courage, strength, and a quiet self possession as he held his three month old baby out the window the highrise.”

“Abraham exibited courage, strength, and a quiet self possession as he held the dagger to the neck of his son, as God had ordered.”

Two brutal stories which are fetishized by many, to my absolute horror.

  14. Sharon Cox says:

What circle of hell have we sunk to.? By Sam Thornton…..Well Sam, we have sunk to this level because we didn’t watch close enough, we were lazy when the greedy war mongers took over our country, stole our election’s and pretended to be the good guy’s and wraped them selves in our flag and thumped their baught bibles and duped radical relegious group’s that want to control us all…..Polatic’s and relegion are big business and now they are selling off our country and using the media to continue to devide our country…..We are led by greed and the insane….Much has to be changed but first all the citizen’s have to wake up…Blessings

  15. Whitey HermAphrodite says:

Idiots made a martyr out of him, especially by doing it on the day they did… VERY symbolic:

    http://www.iraqslogger.com/index.php/post/452/Hijacking_Eid_and_Hanging_Saddam

The cellphone footage made it look like a Shia lynching and will enflame the civil war even more. Sunni who didnt even like Saddam are going to see this as a slap in the face and its just going to make things worse.

The more and more hated america becomes in the world, the more and more this guys stature is going to grow in death, because he was esentially put to death for standing up to america.

If he was such a genocidal guy who allegedly killed millions, why was he executed for killing less than 200? Where was the justice for the rest of them? Gee, could it be the prosecution didnt want to be implicated in the crimes of the person they were putting on trial?

Lets face it, even though Saddam loyalists are only a fraction of the reason Iraq is a complete clusterf#ck, Saddam WILL be remembered by history as the leader of the country that was the gravevard of american military might and the beginning of the end of the american imperialist empire. And Iraq WILL be the graveyard of american military might, mark my word. China and Russia are loving every minute of us being over there, the more and more resources we pump into that shattered land, the less resources we will have available to play strategic chess with them. And the more we inflame the arab world, the more and more of thier oil is going to Russia and China instead of us.

Bush is delusionally messianic, and he is so surrounded by equally deluded people that he will litterally not stop sending troops into the slaughterhouse/civil war until there are no more troops left to send.

We should bring back the draft. Now. All these chesthumping flaghumping bibleblathering hipocrites would get alot less enthusiastic about this war if they and their children had to stay there until iraq is peaceful.

The last thing Bush + co wanted was Saddam alive to spill the beans about the depth of thier cronies past involvement with him. They were co-conspirators to his crimes and him to thiers.

Cheney and Bush are probably jerking each other off whilst watching the execution footage.

  16. Jay Randal says:

Saddam was lynched by the Bush Regime, but in death he is more of a threat to the Bush family than he was alive! Karma is a bitch and the Bush clan are falling down the rat hole to Hell!

  17. Rick says:

We know who the fascist enemy is. The fascists are TP. We know who you are.

  18. El Tonno says:

That’s right Rick. There will be a popular march & vigil at nightfall in Washington, D.C. today. Everyone should be bring torches for maximum ‘Nurnberg’ effects. Wanna come?

Concerning Saddam: extremely bad handling, but one f***er down. Plenty more where that came from, some of which are ‘allies’. The ‘illicit’ clip will be a good ending to the “Best Tortures of Saddam, Ultimate Gold Pack Edition” DVD that should be out soon.

  19. Whitey HermAphrodite says:

Yes Ricky Dick Dick, we here at TP are definitely the fascists, seeing as how we beleive in an all powerful leader who can break (uhm, I mean ignore) any law he wants as long as he swears to us that we’re at war with smelly guys in caves. Thank god he and all the presidents who come after him would never ever fabricate some imaginary war based on an event of a magnitude only moderately greater than that of the Christian-fascist bombing of the oklahoma federal building.

Yes, us, the ones who believe in a 3 way system of checks and balances, are definitely the fascists here. An independent judiciary is DEFINITELY a the hallmark of a fascist regime. An we all know Nancy “the Nazi” Pelosi
wants to begin her tyrannical rule over the House by instituting the Hitleresque policies of “oversight” of the poor opressed Fuhrer Bush.

Yes Ricky, we are all shivering in our jackboots that you know who we are.

And we know who you (and anyone who thinks like you) are too.. inbred redneck white trash too stupid to see the contradictions and hipocracies of the positions you hold. I see you haven’t removed your fingers from your family members nether regions long enough to type out much of your wisdom here at TP, but we do thank you for your articulate and thoughtful thoughts.

Go back to humping your flags and your bibles. Take your favorite saviour on a stick and shove him up you a$$. If he was the real deal or hes in any way aware of what people are doing in his name, he’d do exactly what he did to the money changers in the temple…tell them to get the f#ck out of his house..

  20. Rick says:

We love the fight. And we will be taking care of the fascist leftists. TPers will be dealt with. You are pussies, and you will be dealt with as the pussies you are.

  21. Rick says:

Whitney Hermaphrodite, you fascist nazi leftists will be one of the first lined up against the wall. You are the enemy, and all americans know it.

  22. Whitey HermAphrodite says:

Hahahahah. Thanks Rick the Horse Molester for the thoughtful and articulate explanation of why we are “nazi leftists”.

You want to “line people up against the wall” who disagree with you, and you call us the fascists. Uh huh…

I dont think you understand, you people arent in charge any more. Your Fuhrur is a neutered, lame duck fratboy. He cant even pass gas in congress anymore.

“All americans know it”? Quote me some polls, please?

Is that why you lost congress recently?

Because all American subscribe to your creepy Turner-Diaries-esque idealogy?

The only ones who are going to be lined up against the wall are your leaders, against the wall of a holding cell along with their buddies Abrahoff, Ney, +Cunningham. Libby, Delay, and a host of other scumbags you undoubtedly worship will soon follow.

Its really funny watching you inbreds implode. You call us pussies but last I checked us brown people are making a mockery of your cokehead fratboy’s “mission accomplished”, “bring it on” banner over there in Eye-raq. I assume you’re over there now, showing the mightniness and power of your white NASCAR americanism.

I wish every kid who just thought he was protecting his country or needed a steady paycheck could get shipped out of iraq and get replaced by a trash talking moron such as yourself, so you could spew your macho talk somewhere meanigful until one of those pussy arabs detonated an IED in a nearby dead dog and sent your crooked hillbilly teeth through the roof of your mouth. You say you “love the fight”. Well, looks like they do more. Thats why your pathethic president flip flopped and doesnt utter the words “we’re winning” anymore.

By the way, pit bulls love to fight even more than you do. Does that make them better than you?

  23. Worldwide Condemnation says:

But the number of injured has far outstripped the dead, with the Veterans Administration reporting that more than 150,000 veterans of the Iraq war are receiving disability benefits.

Advances in military technology are keeping the death rate much lower than during the Vietnam War and World War Two, Dr. Col. Vito Imbascini, an urologist and state surgeon with the California Army National Guard, told IPS, but soldiers who survive attacks are often severely disabled for life.

“If you lost an arm or a leg in Vietnam, you were also tremendously injured in your chest and abdomen, which were not protected by the armor plates back then,” he said. “Now, your heart and chest and lungs and heart are protected by armor, leaving only your extremities exposed.”

Dr. Imbascini just returned from a four-month deployment to Germany, where he treated the worst of the U.S. war wounded. He said that an extremely high number of wounded soldiers are coming home with their arms or legs amputated. Imbascini said he amputated the genitals of one or two men every day.

“I walk into the operating room and the general surgeons are doing their work and there is the body of this Navy SEAL, which is a physical specimen to behold,” he told IPS. “And his abdomen is open, they’re exploring both intestines. He’s missing both legs below the knee, one arm is blown off, he’s got incisions on his thighs to relieve the pressure on the parts of the legs that are hopefully gonna survive and there’s genital injuries, and you just want to cry.”

According to documents obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University, 25 percent of veterans of the “global war on terror” have filed disability compensation and pension benefit claims with the Veterans Benefits Administration.

One is a Jul. 20, 2006, document titled “Compensation and Pension Benefit Activity Among Veterans of the Global War on Terrorism,” which shows that 152,669 veterans filed disability claims after fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. Of the more than 100,000 claims granted, Veterans Administration records show at least 1,502 veterans have been compensated as 100 percent disabled.

Pentagon studies show that 12 percent of soldiers who have served in Iraq suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. The group Veterans for America, formerly the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, estimates 70,000 Iraq war veterans have gone to the VA for mental health care.

New guidelines released by the Pentagon released last month allow commanders to redeploy soldiers suffering from traumatic stress disorders.

  24. Paul in LA says:

“Well Sam, we have sunk to this level because we didn’t watch close enough, we were lazy when the greedy war mongers took over our country,” — Sharon Cox

No, that’s false. This happened because the Military-industrial complex purchased media companies and conspired up a good plan to take over the country and drive it to an unbelievably profitable war.

And there was very little anyone could do about it.

Conspiracies are a concommitant of large, complex societies, and they can and do occur in all countries. In this case, what Eisenhower warned of and said would occur, did.

We need to focus the blame in the main on those same Military-industrial media projects — CNN/Time-Warner, MSNBC, and of course FOX.

Boycott the Valentine’s movie “Music and Lyrics” in February, to send a message to CNN/Time-Warner that there are consequences for lying to America.

  25. Tracy says:

What is the point of TP’s terms of use?

  26. Hemlock for Gadflies says:

#2 Rick Brannon makes an excellent point, one which ought to be getting far more attention in the MSM.

This idea of a “Shia crescent” is spot-on. The Gulf oil emirates from Kuwait to Oman all have sizeable Shia minorities. Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province (the one nearest Iraq) is majority Shia. In all of those otherwise Sunni emirates, Shia are second-class citizens. In the 1980s, Iran repeatedly attempted to foment unrest among the Shia to destablize the emirates.

That will be a strategic problem for the US and is, like so many others, is one of our own creation. More problematic for this administration is the fact that the problem will be linked to Iran’s development of nuclear weapons — a nuclear Iran will be more attractive to these disenfranchised Shia and less able to be cowed by US threats; but, more importantly, any misbegotten US attack on Iran would simply inflame the situation. One solution might, in part, be to pressure our oil-producing “allies” to liberalize and defuse their own Sunni-Shia splits before they are enflamed, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for the Bush administration to do that. Among other things, it would require the ability to think strategically — something this administration has proved itself genetically incapable of doing.

Kudos, Rick Brannon, for shining a light on this. Hopefully it won’t go back into the dark.
