  1. ForTruth says:

    Actually that’s way too high.

  2. mad as hell says:

I’m guessing it is the rapture ready group

  3. VerbalKint says:

30% is a lot of idiots.

  4. johnny says:

Please tell me who approves of this useful idiot?

  5. RUCerious says:

Yeah, the 64% unfavorable rating ties with two AP-Ipsos polls for worst since Jan 06.
    Doin a heckuva job chympie.

One more time…the Lame Duck Limbo! All together now…

    HOW LOW CAN HE GO?
    HOW LOW CAN HE GO?
    HOW LOW CAN HE GO?
    HOW LOW CAN HE GO?

  7. RUCerious says:

There also must be a tight correlation between these 30% and the 25% who believe that in 2007, and I quote
“”Jesus Christ will return to earth”

  8. jimbo says:

30% approval = 70% for incompentent, corrupt, & no good.
2 years more of this leech or leach however it’s spelled &
i’m sure the grade will finally achieve 80% – 90% disapproval
rate. So far he’s achieved a straight out C so lets make it
    a B or A.

after all when the 109th congress got kicked out only 15%
approved which was a 85% or mid B for complete
    corruption

  9. DieNowForPeace says:

    30 out of 100 is an F double-minus.

And I thought he was a ‘C’ student?

  10. jeremy says:

It always amazes me that it’s actually that high. 30% — that’s 3 out every 10 people. One does get a bit spoiled living here in San Francisco. In San francisco one would likely not be able to find 3 out of 100 people to support THIS president. It’s just difficult to rap my head around the fact that 30% of the U.S. population is really that stupid. I guess some people can sleep through anything.

  11. GSD says:

    Jeremy,

Congrats today. Speaker Pelosi was quite a hit with me. Classy, dignified, charming. You know, all the things that loser Denny Hastert is not.

The new Speaker will do a great job.

    Congrats.

    thought so after I posted…

I am just so pissed off… what do you do? Get away for awhile? Sometimes I wish I were a stupid republican as I used to be….

  15. Gregor Samsa says:

I have resigned myself to the idea that the stubborn 30% will never, ever disapprove of this administration’s sorry record.

It is simply bewildering that so many people can still support one of the worst presidents in US history. This doesn’t bode well for the future of democracy in the US.

    ::sigh::

I just try to keep looking forward. We’re the 70%.
Leave the f*cking 30% in the dust.

  17. RUCerious says:

Thanks Z – Mad as Hell, (me too).
I was quoting a poll on
    http://www.pollingreport.com/news.htm
Associated Press-AOL News Poll conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs. Dec. 12-14, 2006. N=1,000 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.

“I’m going to read you a list of items that may or may not happen in the year 2007. For each one, please tell me if it is very likely, somewhat likely, not too likely or not at all likely to happen in the year 2007. In 2007, how likely is it that [see below]? Is this very likely, somewhat likely, not too likely or not at all likely to happen in 2007?”

And, yes, 25% agreed with the statement
Jesus Christ will return to earth
Wow. My point was a tight correlation must exist between this 25% and Bush supporters 30%.
If you know stats, the Rsquared coefficient would probably be .89 or so.

More accurate would be the 10% who make over 100k/year

the 20% are split between die-hard Republicans and just plain stupid.

As much as I’d like to think this is possible, I am afraid it isn’t: Those 30%ers are likely reproducing as we speak (or type).

Some will probably remove themselves from the gene pool -without needing any instigation- before they can pass on their genes, but most will breed.

I fear for the human race…

  23. RUCerious says:

Well, time for lights out at the RU Institute for the Criminally Insane. Morrow!@

  24. Zooey says:

    Thanks RUCerious, I guess.

That’s actually a pretty creepy poll result, isn’t it? No wonder these people consume, pollute, and run up debt like there’s no tomorrow. For them, there is no tomorrow!

I better get offline, we’re having a mad snowstorm over here, and the power could cut out anytime — again.

    Goodnight!

  25. Gregor Samsa says:

    “One dollar, one vote”?

    Heh. Good one.

  26. Chris says:

Remember, there are a small number of people that believe Elvis is still alive, or that the Earth is flat (really!), or that their wife was kidnapped by aliens, or that God speaks to that preacher they sent their tax return to. If you add them all up, it equals about 30%!

  27. TerrytheTurtle says:

If Larry the Cable Guy can reproduce, so can the 30%ers … scary.

  29. Gregor Samsa says:

    AshenShard,

Well, Larry the Cable Guy at least has the redeeming quality that he can be funny, sometimes. Even if a little crude for my taste.

Plus, his stage persona is an act. He’s lampooning the same people he is entertaining. They just so happen to be too thick-skulled to realise it. Sort of like the way Texans watch King of the Hill -on Fox, the neocons’ favorite TV network no less.

  30. AshenShard says:

    #29 Gregor Samsa

If that is really an act, then I must give it to him, he does it really well. Haven’t seen anything though that would show that he really is lampooning it though. If you have a link or something though, please tell me. Then I can watch reruns of all the Blue Collar tours and enjoy them even more.

Btw, in my opinion ron white comes off as the most liberal in those. just throwing that out there :-p

    Comment by AshenShard — January 5, 2007 @ 12:57 am

Well, I read somewhere he is not a Southener, and his name is not Larry. I couldn’t find the article, but I did find this in the wikipedia:

Before he moved to West Palm Beach in South Florida, he grew up in Nebraska as a teenager. He openly says in interviews (and his autobiographical book, GIT-R-DONE) that he willingly “turns on” the accent.

Larry the Cable Guy is just a character he morphs into in order to entertain with tales about his fat sister, etc. His character is a satire. I could be wrong, of course, but I doubt it.

Ron “Tater Salad” White is hilarious.

you wrote: “”Jesus Christ will return to earth”

How is it that Bush is some how in the mix with your Jesus returning? I am sure you people realize now what a criminal, thug, murderer, treasonist ass this guy is.

Beijair writes: Bush is in the mix with Jesus returning because 1. the lord told him to go to war, 2. Bush is a Christian, 3. Bush was elected twice with the majority support of Christians.

Now, if you want to see some evil behavior, just read the bible. You wonder why slavery, child abuse and other crimes were once thought to be ok? read the bible.

Sacrifices, killing of women and children, burning of “witches”. I guess that all aligns well with jesus and bush. they are a couple made in heaven.

  33. beijair says:

30 percent and they are the ones that would call themselves true, hardcore Christians. They support a President that supports torture, war, killing. A president that voted against stem cell research because he doesn’t believe in killing and then sacrifices the lives of 3000 plus American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of innocent others in a war that he lied us into. Don’t forget, he was in charge when we were attacked on 9/11. Claimed/lied about WMD in Iraq. Our “moral” compass the Christian ..hahha. They seem to support strongly anything that is not moral but claim it in the name of their Jesus and suddenly claim it is justified. I burn the witch according to the command of god in his bible and therefore it is good. No, it doesn’t really amaze me that he has 30 percent support. Poll that 30 percent and I would bet they are all Christians or claim to be Christians.

  34. Scapegoat says:

25% of America believe Jesus will make an appearance in 2007

where did the other 5% come from

  35. Elliot Moore says:

    36. Clearchannel employees?

  36. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Okay, so if these poll results are to be believed (and when should any poll about opinions be believed, given how uninformed they often are?), there’s at least five percent of the population who approve of the job that Bush is doing, but who are not “pessimistic” about a Democratic takeover of Congress. How is this possible?

If you approve of the president’s performance, you would have to have approved of the way the previous Congress did its job, or else the president could not have performed as “well” as he did (in their eyes.) Now, the nation as a whole completely rejected the way the Republicans have run Congress (in part because of the way they rolled over and let the president do whatever he wanted to do), and turned it over to the Democrats who have said they will change many of the things the Republicans did, especially when it came to giving the president anything he wanted.

So I ask you. How could you approve of the president’s job performance but not be pessimistic about the Democrats taking over the 110th Congress? To me, these five percent are extremely uninformed. That’s why I think opinion polls like this are bullsh*t.

  37. freebird9 says:

well if Jesus comes for the loonies, he’s gonna be pissed. They have lived not like Christians but like the heathens they claim everyone else to be.

The President deserves a -10 rating, and as for the 110th Congress, we shall wait and see, and if they screw up, we send their butts home too.

  38. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Jesus Christ will return to earth

My understanding is Jesus will return to Earth when He’s good and goddamn ready! But then, I’m just an atheist, so what do I know?

All you can do for now is put it into perspective. Think about that 30% when some of them start trolling around here. Imagine what a pathetic clueless loser you’d have to be in order to somehow admire or approve of Bush. Imagine how frustrating it must be for them to know that 70% of the country doesn’t approve of Bush and 68% is optimistic about a Democratic-controlled Congress.

I’d like to see what the poll numbers are now for a) impeaching Bush and b) impeaching him if it’s determined that he lied to get us into a war. Then I’d like to see the poll numbers again after next Wednesday when he announces that he’s sending 20,000 more troops into Iraq. I’m guessing that, from here on out, every time a House or Senate committee subpoenas documents and the White House refuses, claiming executive privilege, those numbers will go up. At some point, impeachment gets put back on the table.

I wish I lived where it snowed. It’s not right that it’s 75 degrees in January AND I have to live with most of the 30%-ers. I said something about Nancy Pelosi at work yesterday and they looked at me like I had a second head.

Some last words of wisdom for you progressive freaks with your homesexuals and curdogs of society who have that body jewelry and believe not in God the Almighty

I am like a really fat lady at crazy daze sales or at garage sales…

Hey look everyone. It’s Angie (aka vinnie, answeil, George of the Jungle, etc.). She’s the one who was bragging about the $7 million…no, $17 million…no, $70 million…no wait, $77 million that she had gotten from Bush’s tax cuts. I’d say it’s just about time for her to start getting really abusive and having all of her posts suddenly disappear.

  45. Marie says:

Does that mean you’re leaving us?
    Bye!

  46. nanlichi says:

RUCerious is correct, there is an extremely high correlation between the Bush supporters and hard core Xians. They have a different worldview than the rest of us. We have peeled the onion of Bush supporters down to the core 25%, the faith based Xian loonies.

And what a rotten, pus-filled core it is.

The other 5% in the core are in there for the tax cuts.

  47. SKdeA says:

    Oy! Angie again!
Somehow I keep harking back to IRI as well… Memories…
    Or maybe even Santo!

  48. upside00 says:

Next time you get on an elevator with 9 other people, just remember that 3 of them are part of that 30%.

And if they have Dale Jr. NASCAR stickers on their lunch boxes, a dog-eared copy of Guns and Ammo (and/or a Brittany Spears fan club membership newsletter) under their arm, and listening to the Oxy-con Rusher on their headsets, it won’t be too hard to pick them out!

  49. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

30% of republicans would support even the most evil man in the world as their president…and they already do so I rest my case.
