Deval Patrick will be sworn in today as Massachusetts governor,

offically becoming the nation’s second African-American elected governor. Patrick will “take the oath of office on a Bible given to John Quincy Adams by kidnapped Africans whom Adams helped free in the Amistad slave ship case he argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1841.”

Congratz to Patrick on becoming governor! Very nice choice of bibles as well. I am sure TP and the rest of the Dem community is very proud of you and your religous faith.

  2. Kurt says:

I am from this great state : and I can finally say I am proud of our new Governor, Deval Patrick — not the out going “not even good enough to be a used car salesman”, Mitt Romney. GOD halp this country if Romney emerges as the front leader in ‘08.

  3. Your Conscience says:

America needs to quickly act or in the very near future America will be inundadted with elected black officialls who will force us to be Africans and stop Christmas for Kwanzaa. Seal the borders and lock the doors.

Hey what do you know, it is easy to be a bigot. That didn’t require any thinking at all.

  4. RUCerious says:

Kudos to the new Governor. May his tenure in office be productive and effective.

  5. DieNowForPeace says:

Why did John Quincy Adams hate America?

  6. DieNowForPeace says:

In post #1 did somebody take a crap on their keyboard then decide to post it?

  7. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

    Rogerx2,

I’m proud of Gov Patrick for working hard and becoming the Governor of Massachusetts. Period.

Gov Patrick’s faith is his own business.

  10. Karim says:

This is a historic day indeed.

  11. Roger_Roger says:

#9 Apparently it isn’t just his business as he is taking his Oath publicly with a BIBLE he picked specifically. He is obviously making a very Religious statement and I support that.

  12. ForTruth says:

That movie Amistad was horrific. I can’t believe that shit happened.

  13. Dahu despirito says:

With the end of the republican party’s manipulation and facism leadership here in Massachusetts we as a state have a change to have moneys appropriated in a way that all will feel the positive effects. Healy was truly the worst of the worst. A dangerously arrogant woman with profound limitations and a cowardliness unsurpassed. She ran her campaign not unlike Hilter’s. A low down and dirty politician. White supremacist witch.
It was just a matter of time before yellow stars and pink triangles would have been sowed onto the lapels of the outcasts and the unpopular element of this state that healy in her stupidity did not have a willingness to deal with. What a horrible woman. What a shameful greasy governor romney proved to be.
