Report: Israel planning nuke strike on Iran.
Israel is reportedly “planning and training” for a low-level nuclear strike against Iran, Fox News reports.

If Israel attempts this then China will likely stop buying $200B of US Treasury notes per yr. and watch interest rates and inflation climb with the likelihood of a hard landing and U.S. real estate crash sooner like in mid 2007.
China and India have strong vested interests in Iran especially for oil and gas to help grow their economies ( and Russia for other reasons ) I wouldn’t be surprised if they ( China and Russia ) offered military assistance to Iran.

Iran is probably a good bit more peaceful than Israel is.
Do you call a nation, that kills over 1000 citizens of a neighboring country, because of the kidnapping of 2-3 of it’s soldiers, a peaceful nation?
If any other country in the world, would have exhibited a similar overuse of military force, you could bet that a multinational militarily effort would have been deployed to intervene.
Due to the inability of any nation to criticize Israel, for fear of being called anti-semetic, they can now behave with impunity.

This may come as a shock to you–but I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that the US has a tactical nuclear strike plan for Iran as well. Also: China, North Korea, assorted former Soviet republics, some small African nations, Pakistan, and a few others like Germany (could go nationalist!) and Venezuela.

I think you’re right, but I think there’s another piece to this, too. I think that this story, combined with the one in the Observer saying that Bush is going to pour 30,000 troops into Iraq http://observer.guardian.co.uk/world/story/0,,1984418,00.html , is intended to provoke a response at home. The White House knows that the world is just about to start caving in on them. They know that the number of hearings coming up in the next couple of weeks are going to start ripping the lid off of their operations. I think they leaked these stories to the UK press, since the U.S. press has gotten skeptical of late, and they hope to prod anti-war protesters into action. When the demonstrations break out, they sprinkle a few agitators into the crowd to make the protests turn violent. All of a sudden, Bush has an excuse for cracking down. I’m pretty sure we’ve already seen the executive orders that would allow sweeping powers to quell a ‘rebellion’.
This has Cheney’s office written all over it. These are the neo-cons. These are the AIPAC and AEI associates who have been spoiling for a fight with Iran. They’re the ones who were up to their eyeballs in Iran-Contra, but got off with a slap on the wrist at best.
The problem with this story as it sits right now is that it wouldn’t make sense for Israel to attack Iran. Iran can pour a lot more shells and missiles per square mile into Israel than Israel can pour into Iran. Iran has Hezbollah to hit Israel from the Lebanon border. Syria might jump in, too. And we don’t have the troops available to fight them on land.
As for the story about 30,000 troops going to Iraq, we only have 9,000 available at the most. It ain’t gonna happen. But, it sure makes for a sensational headline, doesn’t it? And the UK press bit.

As I see it, ever since the Gates nomination, public statements have been moving in a direction which tend to legitimize the existence of the Israeli nuclear arsenal for the first time. Prior to Gates, Israel took great pains to never publicly admit that the arsenal even existed. In addition to legitimizing the Israeli arsenal, I also suspect that this commentary is intended to legitimize the actual use of nuclear armaments by the US at the same time.
There are very few civilians who have the knowledge of explosive munitions that I distilled into my short report. Without that kind of detailed technical knowledge, the public is being misled to believe that relatively safe bunker-buster technology actually exists, when in-fact it does not and cannot exist, and which amounts to nothing more than the Roman practice of “salting the fields of Carthage” to destroy the political-economic potential of the nation of Iran.
Does that help to clarify the intent?

I have written the TP staff many times about various matters. I’ve heard back from Amanda once or twice, but no one else. I get results maybe half the time, but that may be generous.
TP commenters have a sort of community, or we used to, but then we catch flack because we ask one another a personal question, or hijack an obviously dead thread. Whatever. I do think the TP staff should listen to us — and respond — when we have a concern about the site. We keep coming here for a reason — we like it. Used to, anyway.

Zooey, I think it is more important than that. Sites such as this are now an integral part of the democratic tradition as we have been forced down this line by the dereliction of the MSM. IMO, TP should embrace the idea of sponsoring such a community. Having some control over the terms of debate should be given to the members of said community. This is more important than a simple gathering of like-minded friends.

I can even put up with the ad hominem attacks. I think the real distinction between a troll and a total nuisance is that the nuisance keeps on posting when nobody is replying to it anymore. The nuisance posts the same things over and over and uses as much space as possible. It’s not presenting a point of view. It’s trying to drown out everyone else’s. It’s pretty easy to tell when someone crosses the line and just becomes a nuisance. That’s when they need to be removed.

The New York Times reported 9/13, Thursday that a group of five men had set up video cameras aimed at the Twin Towers prior to the attack on Tuesday, and were seen congratulating one another afterwards.
Police received several calls from angry New Jersey residents claiming “middle-eastern” men with a white van were videotaping the disaster with shouts of joy and mockery.
“They were like happy, you know … They didn’t look shocked to me” said a witness.
They were seen by New Jersey residents on Sept. 11 making fun of the World Trade Center ruins and going to extreme lengths to photograph themselves in front of the wreckage.
Witnesses saw them jumping for joy in Liberty State Park after the initial impact. Later on, other witnesses saw them celebrating on a roof in Weehawken, and still more witnesses later saw them celebrating with high fives in a Jersey City parking lot.
Based on that phone call, police then issued a “Be-on-the-Lookout” alert for a white mini-van heading for the city’s bridges and tunnels from New Jersey. When a van fitting that exact description was stopped just before crossing into New York, the suspicious “middle-easterners” were apprehended. Imagine the surprise of the police officers when these terror suspects turned out to be Israelis!
According to ABC’s 20/20, when the van belonging to the cheering Israelis was stopped by the police, the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers:
“We are Israelis. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are your problem.”
Why did he feel that Palestinians were a problem for the NYPD?
The police and FBI field agents became very suspicious when they found maps of the city with certain places highlighted, box cutters (the same items that the hijackers supposedly used), $4700 cash stuffed in a sock, and foreign passports. Police also told the Bergen Record that bomb sniffing dogs were brought to the van and that they reacted as if they had smelled explosives.

The Gomel Chesed Cemetery is a ‘Jewish’ cemetery. While he was scouting the cemetery for ivy cuttings, he overheard what he believed to be a conversation spoken in Hebrew, which drew his attention. Curious, he walked toward the voices until he was close enough to accurately hear the conversation and confirm that it was indeed being spoken in Hebrew. He found himself along a heavily vegetated fence line that sat on top of an eight-foot high retaining wall, which concealed his presence from the men engaged in the conversation. The two men he saw and overheard were casually leaning against the retaining wall beneath him. As he watched and listened, a third man arrived to the meeting in a Lincoln Town Car. He emerged from the rear seat of the car while the driver and another passenger remained in the car. The two men leaning against the wall, upon seeing the arrival of the 3′rd man, changed their relaxed posture into that of attentiveness, signifying respect and the importance or ranking of the person that had just arrived. It was clear that the two men were waiting and expecting the arrival of the third, indicating that the meeting was pre-arranged. What the observer of these happenings heard beneath him after the normal niceties were exchanged between the three men alarmed him.
The man who arrived in the Town Car said, “The Americans will learn what it is to live with terrorists after the planes hit the twins in September.”
One of the men that had been leaning against the retaining wall expressed concerns regarding whether the upcoming presidential election (Nov 2000) between Bush / Cheney and Gore / Lieberman could impact the plans. The man that arrived in the Town Car pacified the doubts by saying, “Don’t worry, we have people in high places and no matter who gets elected, they will take care of everything.”

Both Republican and Democratic party are controlled by the same people. There is no two party system. There is a common cause by some in both parties to fool people through a few social issues into believing that the two parties are somehow different. While people in this country are debating issues such as abortion, gay marriage, and a few other peripheral issues that don’t mean a damn thing to me, we allow or constitution and bill of rights to be taken away. We allow a coup d’état of this country to take place by globalists that want to make you and I thier bitch and make money off us to line thier own pockets. Bill and Hilary Clinton, Soros, The Kerry’s are all schills in this cabul. The easiest way to destroy Americans independent thinking is to destroy the middle class. What has happened in the last 30 years to the middle class…pretty obvious to me.
How to destroy the middle class is to create a unfair trade advantage, so that we purchase more and at the same time export jobs oversea’s to maximize profits for corporations that could give a shit about American’s the constitution or what is best for this country. Create treaties such as Nafta, Cafta (both under Clinton), export semi-skilled and skilled jobs overseas. Second, dumb-down America through importing drugs, and to marry this excess with entertainment. Third, drop interest rates so that Americans become slaves to banks…oh wait a second then just file bankruptcy….do away with that too. Fourth, allow the borders to fail, so that millions of illegal immigrants flood this country. These illegal immigrants will build you a house for a fraction of what American laborers would charge. Contstruction workers in my nieghborhood were middle class. I don’t know any “American” construction workers anymore. I can go on and on, but it’s so obvious. There is such thing as right or left anymore, only good people and evil people.

The Lebanese people are complict in their support of terrorist organization called Hezbollah. BTW Isreal did something that they should have done ever since they agreed and did withdrawl from southern Lebanon and in turn the Lebanese government continued to let Hezbollah operate even though under the terms of the withdrawl they agreed to disban them.
