You make a good point – why are we striking suspected targets – don’t we wait any more to be sure who we are bombing?
Mr. Shoot first and ask questions later Bush doesn’t feel the need to check himself – he just follows his gut. Remember when he mocked Clinton for firing a rocket in an effort to get Bin Laden – Bush said he wouldn’t do something so stupid as to shoot a camel in the ass.
Times change and Bush does as he pleases – preemtive strikes, strikes on uncertain targets – no matter – they’re only muslims, and so what if we kill a few by accident.
Here is a newer article to prove my previous point.
The Bush administration, undeterred by the horrors and setbacks in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon, has opened another battlefront in this oil-rich quarter of the Muslim world.
Frankly, at this point, there is absolutely no doubt that Bush is a greater threat to America and the world than Al-Qaeda could muster on their best day. If Congress doesn’t pull the plug on this guy now, there won’t be a United States, or an Israel. There also won’t be any of the oil they are so ardent to obtain. Bush is a certifiably insane psychopath who must be brought down.
Can there be any doubt that these alleged Al Qaeda camps hit in the airstrike will be prominently featured in Bush’s speech on Wednesday? Can there be any doubt that the warmongers at Fox News and the ultra-right wing blogger echo chamber will resound with fear-stoking hysteria between now and then?
Escalation is coming, folks, and it is coming soon. And it won’t be isolated to Iraq. Our fuehrer has his sights on Iran, where he expects to find his destiny as the greatest leader of our age.
This president is out of control. When or when are the men in the white coats coming for him? The generals just need to go in grab this lunatic before he blows up the whole world. Frat boy is just itching for Armageddon.
WHA at 7 has at least part of the larger, “Rovian” agenda correctly stated.
I suspect it’s not the first time for this infernal crew. Remember—they project like I’ve never seen before. And who was always accusing someone else of “wagging the dog” a few years back, no matter what he was trying to respond to?
Excellent….This is exactly the type of non-controversial action against Al Qaeda upon which we can all agree in the wake of Al Qaeda’s slaughter of 3,000 innocents on the morning of September 11, 2001.

Acutally I agree with Exley, this is the type of action the US military should be used for in this conflict, not the full scale invasion of Iraq, but hitting Al Qaeda, and supporting those who wish to install non-theocratic governments.

I am not allowed to comment about this subject on this thread, so this post will probably be deleted as well > not allowed to mention an attack on Iran is in the works soon!
Well, we will see who exactly was bombed and all the details eventually. The subterfuge was the Ethiopians putting the war lords back into power in Somolia.
All in order to go after three Al Queada suspects in the Kenya bombings?
When the smoke clears, we will then see whether or not the Somolian government is stable or another terrorist creating machine, like Iraq.
The victory is not the short term attacks or the conquest — it is the longer term effect that is more important – Stable/secure/economiclly viable govt – no training argument for terrorists.
CBS told the story as if it were ALL facts, in a neat, simplistic story. Didn’t use quotes and claimed Al qaeda was the target, however didn’t have ANY idea who was killed, oh well just another U.S. drive-by.
Oh Well, we Americans always love a good fast clean bombing. It’s easy to support, always looks like the bad guys are defeated. “It’s a slam dunk” as one CIA director has been known to say.
It’s easier and cleaner than police action or investigation and it makes for great politics to say: “Just this week our armed forces took out Beelzebub and his men in Nadaland, exacting justice for crimes against our people some decade ago” cheers ” Now we are planning a strategic placement of special forces to take out other enemies of Freedom”. Zieg Hiel!! Zieg Heil!!
Hell, I think I could be a speech writer, but this one writes itself – the propaganda is so obvious.
Rove really hasn’t given up his MO since losing the election.
I find it interesting that the pro-war trolls on this thread have taken it as fact that these airstrikes hit Al Qaeda. We don’t know that yet, and somehow I doubt it. After all, your beloved President has committed our military for 4 years attacking a country that had nothing to do with Al Qaeda. Face it, your President can’t hit the broad side of a barn. I think it is likely that this airstrike is contrived to generate propaganda leading into Bush’s upcoming speech, and that it will come out later that an essentially random target was hit. Like that restaurant full of people we bombed trying to hit Saddam on bad intelligence. But you trolls somehow find a way to avoid processing this information.
The brain dead idiocy of the trolls at this site is breathtaking.
Al Qaeda must be made to learn that no matter where they run or hide, the U.S. will find them and attack them.
Comment by Exley — January 8, 2007 @ 10:51 pm
So then why the hell are we in Iraq, Exley? Al Qaeda wasn’t there until we reduced the country to chaos and turned it into the new Afghanistan, the perfect breeding ground for terrorists. Why hasn’t your guy Bush run down bin Laden? Why do you love Al Qaeda so much that you want to protect them?
Well then, according to Walter, the way to promote free speech is to stifle free speech! It’s the liberals who are threatening liberty! Get it? Remind me to avoid George Mason University! But then again, I see that Walter only published one paper in 2006 – did the school get wise to his hateful nonsense and pull the plug?
Back on thread, the newspapers are reporting that per CBS “many bodies were seen on the ground after the airstrike” – gee I thought there were only three “suspected” terrorists they were after. I sure hope that each and every dead person was guilty of murder! But I guess we won’t know now.
Walter, give it a rest. Why don’t you put all that energy into something productive? I’m in a bad mood today (civilians getting killed does that to me) and I made the mistake of looking at one of your articles. Apparently you lack the ability to reason and are therefore a danger to those around you.
From one of your delusional writings:
“The secondhand smoke from my cigarette might harm you. However, your being able to prevent me from smoking harms me; I have less enjoyment. We cannot say which person’s harm is more important and should take precedence.”
What if that person sitting next to you has an oxygen tank so they can breathe? Would that help you decide who is being more harmed?! Or does your gratuituous “enjoyment” still carry equal weight?
If you are truly a professor, I can only imagine the discussions that go on in your classroom. Let me guess, when a student insists on asserting a contrary view do you eventually resort to shouting them down?
Universities are an important place to cultivate open minds. Your mind seems as closed as they come and between that and your faulty logic you represent a danger to young minds.
Seems the US, commanded by the nut in chief is striking the right target again…..civilians, camels, sheep, dogs, children….or how to kill an al-qaeda terrorist together with 50 innocent people….
All this without direct U.N approval, congress approval or darth vader’s approval….did i say approval?
Face it, your President can’t hit the broad side of a barn.
