Colbert & O’Reilly confirmed.

Colbert & O’Reilly confirmed.

The rumors were true. “It may feel like looking into the mirror for Bill O’Reilly and Stephen Colbert next week. The Fox News Channel host and Colbert, who has essentially based his comic character every evening on Comedy Central on him, will trade appearances on each other’s programs Jan. 18. … ‘I look forward to the evening,’ Colbert said. ‘It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O’Reilly.’”

  1. nitpicker says:

Will they be searching the Colbert audience for falafels?

O’Reilly will live to regret this…

  2. Rick Brannon says:

this will be the stuff of legends…

  3. Krazny says:

Oh sweet jesus, I hope they have this on You Tube, Damn it will be funny.

  4. Heterodoxy says:

Bildo, you thought Letterman was a shalacking?

No worries, it will go right over Bildo’s head. The lower end of the bell curve Faux news dumplings will say “I love this guy, who is he?”

  5. Rebel In CA says:

With this much hype, this could turn out to be dud.

  6. hellinabucket says:

As much as I like Colbert and loath O’Reilly, I see a trainwreck for both. Unless of course Colbert just runs with it. The formats are so different. Are the show’s writers swapping also? Then it may be gold. If not then it may just be regretable by both parties.

  7. Zep Tepi says:

See, it’s just a big game.

It will be funny as hell though to watch the ratings plummet on both channels!

  8. Zep Tepi says:

But we must also be careful what we wish for, Orwellia looms large.

  9. Zep Tepi says:

So does this mean Condi is in love with Colbert as well?

  10. TerrytheTurtle says:

Zoo, you gave up cable a few weeks too soon…?

  11. unbelievable says:

I’ve seen Michael Moore and Ron Reagan Jr. wipe the floor with O’Reilly. It’s not that hard for someone with a modicum of intellect. Bildo is so predictable in his self-service that getting him to paint himself into a corner without being aware should be fun for Colbert and a great spectator sport for the rest of us.

  12. Zep Tepi says:

Oh man, this will drive the trolls nuts.

    Condi loves Colbert!

  13. steve says:

If anyone thinks that Colbert is going to ‘wipe the floor’ with Bill-O they are crazy. He is going to play it icy, icy cold, with all the hero worship that Colbert (the character) would actually have for Bill-O.

    People, he’s a performer.
He’s not going to go blow to blow with Bill-O, as much as any of us would want. He’s going to play it deadpan cool and Bill-O might even walk away with more respect for Colbert than he has right now.

This is not going to be a dueling match, its going to be a drooling love fest.

  14. kelso says:

I hope Colbert has Giraldo Rivera on his show next.

My cable ends on 1/16, so I’ll miss it by two days. It will be all over the internets though. :)

  16. Zoo says:

And that is what the White House Press Club thought when they had Colbert speak at their annual circle jerk.
    Comment by Spudge_Boy

Yes. If Colbert plays it right, BO will leave the show feeling good about the whole thing, and then later on he’ll think to himself, “Hey….wait a minute….”

  17. ForTruth says:

This will be a serious classic, down in real history.

  18. Jim says:

I agree with those who are saying that Colbert won’t “wipe the floor” with O’Reilly. I suspect, though, that it will be even better than that. Colbert knows that O’Reilly has no sense of humor and no sense of irony. This should work brilliantly in Colbert’s favor. Of course, you never know until they go on the air. I was greatly disappointed by Jon Stewart’s kid-gloves treatment when he had Rick Santorum on “The Daily Show.”

  19. DoubtingThomas says:

This will truly be must-see TV. Maybe Colbert will give O’Reilly a gift basket of loofuh sponges and a phone card on his way out.

  20. TerrytheTurtle says:

    the internets

Oh heck there goes my beer….

    Oops, sorry. :)

These things are becoming second nature — internets, the Google, etc.

i was pretty disappointed with the green screen show down with the decemberists… but, i wasn’t sure what to expect either…

this colbert/olielly should be pretty good… ballsy of colbert to go to olielly’s turf also… i bet billo will be sweet… e bet both will…

  23. TerrytheTurtle says:

I’m betting O’Reilly will banjo him.

  24. Bill says:

    It is on tonight!!!

    Demystifying Gift Cards

Buying a greeting card for the woman in your life can be a daunting task. I have seen more than one man with that deer in the headlights look on his face heading to the greeting card racks. Being the dominant creature that he is, he summons his strengt…
