Every time one of these Administration officials speak, they should be under oath and held up as perjors if they lie to Congress or the American people. Is it too much to ask that our Government tell the truth to the people who they work for?

I've compiled some of the Senate Foreign Relations testimony into some transcripts. They are at http://boborojoview.blogspot.com, and I hope are fairly accurate. Only a couple Senators have actually released full transcripts of their remarks and Rice's answers. Take a look, I'll add to them as I get to it.

[...] Condi Rice repeatedly called Bush’s escalation of the war an “augmentation” during last week’s Senate Foreign Relations hearing on Bush’s New Iraq strateg. You know where that word is used the most? As a reference to breast implant jobs. I guess I could almost agree with Rice that Bush’s new war plan is a “boob job”. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice tried her best to make this escalation plan more palatable to the American public. “I think that I don’t see it, and the president doesn’t see it, as an escalation,” Rice told an incredulous Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE). Hagel responded, “Putting 22,000 new troops, more troops in, is not an escalation?” Rice said. . . . . . I would call it, Senator, an augmentation that allows the Iraqis to deal with this very serious problem that they have in Baghdad. [...]

[...] I believe Alfred Einstein was quoted as saying, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We’ve been sending soldiers to Iraq for years and the results has been death, destruction, and now civil war. President Bush’s solution to the quagmire in Iraq? Send more troops. (Just don’t call it an escalation; it’s more of an augmentation. Thanks, Condi.) Well, I guess there’s a reason no one ever accused the President of being an Einstein.
Rice should be held in contempt, for not answering the questions put forth and should be made to answer to a higher authority: the American people. We really deserve a lot better than she and her arrogant, evasive responses to serious questions. We're not here to serve her, but rather, she was appointed to office to serve us, the people. And, yes, she makes an excellent punching bag. She is one of many apples from the same, bad barrell.

Bush thinks by surrounding himself with people that are as incompetent as he, that he can hide his own flaws. It's the same rule-of-thumb as how to apear attractive: surround yourself with really ugly people. In this case, Bush surrounded himself with someone who is both ineffectice AND ugly. So essentially, she has done her job well and is about ready for a raise and a promotion. No?
