‘Administration leaving out important details on Iraq.’

McClatchy: “President Bush and his aides, explaining their reasons for sending more American troops to Iraq, are offering an incomplete, oversimplified and possibly untrue version of events there that raises new questions about the accuracy of the administration’s statements about Iraq.” (HT: DailyKos)

Even people who don’t read papers and get all their news in 5 minutes a couple of times a week on television often watch 60 minutes — perhaps some more of them will see the buffoon in the White House who is sending our young people to their deaths for his stubbornness.
Now, with the McClatchy (formerly Knight-Ridder) papers coming out and pointing out the fallacy of their assertions, this is another validation.
In watching the rerun of MTP tonight, as Hadley offered the admin. line I yelled at the TV — they think the war went bad in early 2006!!! Where the hell were they in the previous years!

  9. Fools on the Hill says:

Bush used his mushroom cloud excuse for invasion on 60 minutes tonight, even though Libby goes to trial this week. Their lying will never, we must demand impeachment. It is a civic duty to hold them accountable.

Look people, get with the program. We are at war with IRAN not IRAQ anymore. Apparently Iraq was just the warm-up. And Israel’s little adventure last summer in Lebanon always seemed a little heavy handed – over kidnapped soldiers, yeah right. That was just a little excercise is softening up Hezbollah because they have been planning to hit Iran all along. This thing is “on rails” as they say and nothing will stop it. The 21st century is geting of to a great start no?

  11. Marie says:

Hadley also said that once the troops are in place, the congress will support them.
So, they will quickly as possible put more troops in harm’s way and then dare congress to cut the funding.
They boldly use troops as pawns and arrogantly boast about it.

  13. Gregor Samsa says:

offering an incomplete, oversimplified and possibly untrue version of events

Well, al I can say is that it follows the pattern.

Pres Bush and his henchmen offered an incomplete, oversimplified and wholly untrue version of a series of events to justify the invasion, and the subsequent occupation, of Iraq.

It could only be that he would offer an incomplete, oversimplified and untrue version (note I don’t use “possibly”; does anyone have a doubt at this point?) of events to justify an escalation of the conflict. Offering an accurate assessment at this time would mean to disclose all the distortions during the run-up to the war.

The invasion was sold with disinformation, and will be escalated with more. Propaganda, and misleading statements are the neo-cons’ tool of the trade.

The subject? Well, if you saw the talking heads on TV tonight, you’ll know that it was, of course, Iraq and the splurge. I call it that, any way, because Bush is spending human flesh like we splurge after we get our tax refunds.

  21. Briseadh na Faire says:

Let’s face it, Bush is sending a lot of young women and men to an early death to cement a deal for the oil companies to suck out as much Iraqi Oil as they can in the next 30 years.

Think about this: A kid gets killed in Iraq the same day his son is born, who will also grow up to get killed in Iraq the same day his son is born. And each and every year, from now until then, the CEO’s of American Oil Companies will get paid over $100,000,000 in Salary and Bonuses. Suffice to say, their sons won’t get killed in Iraq. (That’s why we’re eliminating the Anti-Dynasty Tax.)

    Worth reprinting here:

    A Nation Rocked to Sleep

    Carly Sheehan
    August 15th, 2005

Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?
The torrential rains of a mother’s weeping will never be done
They call him a hero, you should be glad that he’s one, but
Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?

Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?
He must be brave because his boy died for another man’s lies
The only grief he allows himself are long, deep sighs
Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?

Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother’s grave?
They say that he died so that the flag will continue to wave
But I believe he died because they had oil to save
Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother’s grave?

Have you ever heard the sound of a nation being rocked to sleep?
The leaders want to keep you numb so the pain won’t be so deep
But if we the people let them continue another mother will weep
Have you ever heard the sound of a nation being rocked to sleep?

  25. Geezer Power says:

I must remind some of the posters here that this is not a war with Iraq, but is the so called “War on Terror”. What is going on in iraq right now is an occupation. The war, or what was really an invasion with the most sophisticated and powerfull armaments on the planet, was over when Dubya said mission accomplished on the carrier deck just off the coast of California. We won it hands down, with minimal casualities. The ones who suffered were the civilians in Iraq, who had thousands of casualities, and have had ever since.

The reason used by Bush & Co. was 911, an unbelievable disaster that they will not allow a proper investigation on. One thing for sure, Saddam Hussein didn’t do it, and it is doubtful that Osama Bin Laden did it, but to anybody who looks on the internet, there is damning evedence that the stories that were reported by our government and the media that is controlled by them are not true.

We were lied to to get us into this mess, and are still being lied to to continue an agenda that is dangerous to America as well as the whole planet. The stench from Washington DC is so powerful, that many republicans are also disagreeing with this Corporate government. I say that because it is more of a corporation than it is a representative government.

Keep your eyes and ears on the persian gulf, because it is filled with war ships and Bush & Co. are getting desparate. They are now ready to go on Iran, that was their main target in the first place. All of the main planning for this whole scenario can be found on the PNAC web site. If you don’t know what the Project For The New American Century is, you have a lot of home work to do. Nuff said….G:

  30. ccokz says:

    Two more habgings in Iraq

I just wrote this concerning Reagan, but I think this is a good description of GWBs motivation also

I mean I remember Reagan also as somebody who made pretty polarized statements and wasnt necessarily a content producer. “Well bomb Moscow in five minutes” was one of them. GWB and Reagan had pretty much the same humour. They can be very eratically tearing certain things down and mocking them. I mean I dont say the left is free of such attempts. Though it was the cold war and I always thought of Reagan as slightly lunatic&mad.
Despite the word on everybodys tongue was privatization.
The Repugs made billions in the eighties, think of AT&T for example, to finance their hideous spending.
People are saying when looking at GWB hes not as rigid as the repugs b4 him when it comes to spending.
That is utter bullshit. Reagan had hardly a balance after selling half of the state.
Think of Clinton. He had a 500bio$ surplus.
Now GWB cant sell anything anymore to let his cronies rock. That is easily to be recognized through the ever mounting US debt.
Reagan was pretty adventurous. Grenada for example. He liked small provocations to put up certain “borders.”
In the end, when Gorbatshov came in 1987, he could only accept the Soviets were unwilling to continue their opposition towards the United States of America. Reagan looked tired after-for example-giving a speech in front of the Berlin wall. The cold war was breeding ground for many righties to hack lefties. McCarthy for example. Reagan was no exception. Ford had the ability to unite nevertheless, Reagan had it difficulties. Reagan was a divider hen it came to welfare or state as such. Communism was the alter ego. I think the Repugs had liked to stay on this “easy” track for a while. They couldnt.
Today we got the “terrorists.” GWB is creating some similiar threat. It never really vanishes due to failures in crafting. Instead of shooting Oussama he inflamed Iraq and created anger around the Arab world.
I dont know why the Repugs think theyre winning thru black and white.
“What were looking at is good and evil, right and wrong. A new world order.”

I really think we are beyond that now. I have been writing/faxing my, and and other congress members for years and it does no good. Thats my personal opinion, and I’m not trying to influence anyone to stop contacting their representative. I think that this has been in the works for some time and the goal is to destabalize the region to cause a domino effect. Through this domino effect the remains of our economy and security will be used against us by this government to create a de facto military state. The pieces are already in place:

    Executive Order Numbers and Meaning:

10900 – Allows the government to take control over all modes of transportation, highways, and seaports.
10995 – Allows the government to seize and control the communication media.
10997 – Allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels, and minerals.
10998 – Allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.
11000 – Allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.
11001 – Allows the government to take over all health, education, and welfare functions.
11002 – Designates the Postmaster General to operate national registration of all persons.
11003 – Allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.
11004 – Allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, and designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.
11005 – Allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways, and public storage facilities.
11051 – Specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.
11310 – Grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.
11049 – Assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen-year period.
11921 – Allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and flow of money in the U.S.A. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when the President declares a state of emergency, Congress cannot review the action for six months.

Marry the above with HR6166 – The Military Comissions Act of 2006, Patriot Act 1, and 2, REX 84, The United States Civil Disturbance Plan 55-2, and it has all the makings of a soon to be Police State.

Lets see some proof.

Next, and related, this article states that it is the Sadr (Shiite) army/militia that is primarily responsible for the Shiitie death squads and violence. But, Sadr is not tight with Iran. It is the other Shiite group, south of Bagdhad, that is very close, and supposedly controlled, by Iran.

Ron Paul: The strange thing is that the failure in Iraq is now apparent to a large majority of American people, yet they and Congress are acquiescing to the call for a needless and dangerous confrontation with Iran. (…)

Concern for pricing oil only in dollars helps explain our willingness to drop everything and teach Saddam Hussein a lesson for his defiance in demanding Euros for oil.
