Bush’s rallying cry backfires.

By Judd Legum on Jan 15th, 2007 at 7:29 pm

Bush’s rallying cry backfires.

“President Bush’s address to the nation last week outlining a ‘new way forward’ in Iraq failed to move public opinion in support of his plan to increase U.S. troop levels and left Americans more pessimistic about the likely outcome of the war.”

Something about fooling all of the people all of the time comes to mind.

Perhaps it’s simply that this President’s credibility is gone.

Whatever, I’ll take either as a sign that this President’s reign is coming to an end.

Aren’t left Americans already more pessimistic about the war anyway?

  4. Zooey says:

Maybe that’s why Chimpy looked so nervous and sweaty during his “major speech.” It was do or die time…

  5. I_am_mighty_aphrodite_and_a_zionist_fool says:

The only time it’s appropriate for a *conservative* to ever cry, is when I have him bent over the sofa while using my *angry-inch* on him. Or when he’s just been outed as a gay/pedophile sex predator with a corruption felony charge leveled at him! While those opportunities arise frequently for conservative men, this cry doesn’t qualify as one of them!

  6. Angry One says:

While a fierce battle over President Bush’s “new way forward” in Iraq is being joined in the halls of Congress, an even more ferocious war of words is taking place to win the hearts and minds of the American people. To understand the differences between “surge”, “escalation” and “augmentation,” see:

“Understanding the White House’s Iraq Vocabulary.”

  7. DrGail says:

This is starting out just like the big push to privatize Social Security — Dubya gets a good idea, tries to sell it directly to the American people, the more people hear about it the less they like it — let’s hope it turns out much the same way. This time there are many lives directly on the line. . .

  8. Marie says:

In two weeks he must give the SOTU address. It will be interesting to watch a man with dwindling respect among his own party and lack of confidence by most Americans speak with any credibility at all.
    I sure hope you’re right Dogjudge at#1
that GW’s reign is coming to an end. The sooner the better.

  9. Doug Leger says:

Bush is incapable in selling his ideas or plans because he doesn’t believe in his own lies anymore. Also, his command of the spoken word is quite limited and he’s unable to articulate the simpilist of thoughts. This is probably one of the reasons that he avoids diplomacy. He is also incapable of understanding complex sentences which is why listening to his generals and other wise counsel is too tedious for him. Cheney knows that short sentences get more action from Bush. Like “bring ‘em on” and “war’s tough”.

“Surge” is a common Russian name.
I think escalate is the only real defense department definition for ordering 20,000 troops into action.

Everyone can see that Chimpy is on his way out…one way or another.

However, everyone can also see quite clearly that he can do a lot of damage on his way down.

Congress has a clear Constitutional duty to impeach this criminal and his accomplices as soon as possible. Every day they wait, Chimpy does more damage, and the members of Congress indict themselves a little bit more as co-conspirators.

will be different as they take the entire nation down
    with their never ending bottom

take bushs most likely scernerio of using tranquilizers
    and guess what? a mess…….

which is exactly where we are right now.

has either of these totally corrupted so called public
servants done anything for you or this country, sure
    have………..

    - increased mecury in water/food
    - sky high energy costs
    - given away the forests
    - outsourced jobs
    - flooded the market with imports
    - split up families for 2′nd/3′rd time around =
    - great family values
    - on and on…. lie after lie

yah right, this time will be different, drop dead and
things will finally get better losers, give this country
and the people a breadk FINALLY

You can only fool all of the people some of the time, and Bush has already used up all of his some of the time with the American people.

Revolutions tend to start when people are dying in public. And over 3,000 Americans have done just that…

  17. unbelievable says:

“We are the greatest military power and we don’t need to prove our military power. I think we are superbly well-placed, equipped to take the initiative in this and create the atmosphere for negotiations by ceasing bombings and some of the other things we are doing. Now if our nation insists on escalating the war and if we don’t see any changes, it may be necessary to engage in civil disobedience to further arouse the conscience of the nation and make it clear we feel this is hurting our country.

“And I might say this is another basic reason why I am involved and concerned. It is because I love America. I am not engaged in a hate America campaign. I would hope that the people of this country standing up against the war are standing up against it because they love America and because they want to see our great nation really stand up as the moral example of the world.

“The fact is we have alienated ourselves from so much of the world and have become morally and politically isolated as the result of our involvement in the war in Vietnam.”

Just replace ‘Vietnam” with ‘Iraq’, and the message is just as poignant now as it was then.

It is a bit refreshing that after six years, they’ve stopped blaming Clinton for everything. Pretty much the only thing Bush did in his entire presidency, besides a few spills on his bike, is turning out a disaster of biblical proportion. The worst military blunder in the history of man kind.

some observations about the 60 minute interview…and his speech….

first, (both) did you notice the lines on his forehead? they are only achieved by raising the eyebrows. what emotion does that reveal?

next…(60 minutes) there was no follow up when the issue of WMDs was raised….no question about the Downing Street Memo….facts were being fixed around the policy….

Corporate Media still won’t go near that one….

as far as Bush’s rallying cry backfiring…maybe Rove’s “magic” isn’t as strong as a humble shaman….

    Briseadh na Faire,

I thought GWB’s body language spoke volumes in both the speech and the interview.

The most telling part of the interview was the portion highlighted by TP. He stammered, blinked, figeted, and I thought he actually looked frightened.

Amen, amen, and amen. It’s the ONLY thing we can do to begin the end of III’s reign. Just saw some replay of 60 minutes on Scarboro (?) – can you imagine what the rest of the world thinks when they see this moron have the audacity and moral repugnance to sit there and say the Iraqis owe us a big wet kiss for blowing their country to bits? Mom, forgive me, but what I’d do to give that walking brown egg (no offense to chickens or anything brown – referring to what the cat leaves in her litter box) a real close encounter with a real splintery 2 x4…..

And he admitted there were no WMDs which was the whole reason for invading them in the first place… Which he did in that annoyed smug tone of his that validates his sociopathic lack of empathy.

  32. Publicus says:

Bush is completely and irreversibly discredited, even among increasing numbers of “conservatives” (really, radical bullies). Of course, the Right (sic) will conclude that Bush wasn’t really conservative enough—even though he operated under their banner for six years without compromise or any check on his powers…which frequently exceed the powers assigned to the president in the Constitution.

In short, the President has lied so often, and gotten such feeble results that his support is gone. Of course, the remaining 30% may continue to live in fantasyland, but that’s about it…

Glover, Kucinich and other speakers and performers were on stage at a gala event at Memphis Convention Center. The conference, which has attracted more than 2,000 activists, advocates, policy-makers and producers of independent media, began on Friday and runs through Sunday.

Kucinich specifically criticized efforts by to the Bush administration to ease the so-called “cross-ownership” ban in a press conference after his speech. The rule keeps media companies from owning a television station in the same market as a newspaper. FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has said he would like to ease the ban.

Kucinich also said that he would hold hearings on re-instating the Fairness Doctrine, a former requirement that radio and television stations provide a right to respond to allegations in “controversial” broadcasts.

“Yes, absolutely, we’re going to get that,” Kucinich said in a brief interview.

There needs to be some sort of coalition formed and an EXTREMELY aggressive, large well placed, banner ad campaign place on each participating website/blog, to encourage all concerned Americans to put as much pressure as is humanly possible, on their representatives, to have this guy removed from office.

IMO, it’s the only chance left.

  56. barfly says:

Well, I for one look forward to the FCC hearings – as well as the trial for Libby, which is in the jury-selection phase this week. Bloggers have gotten permission to be in the courtroom, but they’s probably have to wait until daily recess to post. The varnish is going to peel off the administration’s reasons for going to war, and the trial might be the first evidence-gathering step in the march to impeachment.

    Moderation:

I just read your post from last night re: 9/11. Very well stated.

Three years ago, I too viewed “conspiracy theories” regarding 9/11 as outrageous. Having conducted literally thousands of hours of my own research – not any more.

The bottom line is that 9/11 REQUIRED a conspiracy, regardless of who you believe did it. The word “conspiracy” is a legal term. Larry Franklin and AIPAC conspired to transfer secret information on Iran to Israel. Scooter Libby and Dick Cheney conspired to out Valerie Plame as a CIA Agent. Jack Abramoff was charged with, among other things, “conspiracy.”

In your writing, you clearly stated that you “WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH.” This single statement is the key to solving any crime. Until EVERY American really comes to that conclusion, the government and the media will continue to have us under their spell.

How many times have you ever heard the words “conspiracy theory” used by the government or the media in a positive light? How about NEVER? Yet we all watch the who-done-it movies and TV shows that virtually REQUIRE the investigators to have a theory about the conspiracy in order to solve the crime.

Having a theory about a conspiracy cannot be an inherently bad thing, yet we’ve all been conditioned since the Kennedy assassination to believe that EVERY theory about a conspiracy is inherently unpatriotic, insane, wacko – or whatever other negative adjective the Media and the government have conditioned us to believe. How did we all come to accept that only the law enforcement community has the where with all to “think like a criminal” – investigate the means, motive and opportunity, understand whether multiple players might be involved (the very definition of “conspiracy”), and develop a THEORY about the most logical explanation with respect to who committed the crime, and why?

It is a fact that five Mossad Agents were arrested in New York on 9/11, after having been witnessed celebrating (Google: “Dancing Israelis”). Who else celebrated in New York on 9/11? Shouldn’t we start to unravel the thread right there?

This one incident is the beginning of a path of logic that DOES NOT FIT the official government explanation of 9/11. This was the starting point for all of my research. How is it that five foreign agents were apprehended, found to have explosive, cash and box-cutters in their possession, were interrogated for six weeks, failed seven polygraph tests, and were quietly released by Israeli Citizen, Michael Chertoff?

Forget everything else you know or think you know about 9/11 and explain that single incident. You can’t. It Happened. It can only mean one thing.

Now – WHO WANTS TO KNOW THE TRUTH?
How badly do you want to know?
Pull the thread – and the entire story quickly unravels.

Means: (Sysplan, Ptech, Comverse, Mitre, Raytheon)
    Motive: PNAC Implementation
    Opportunity: Installation of NeoCon Cabal

The conspiracy was primarily between Likud (and their agents within the United States – Wolfowitz, Feith, Libby, Wurmser, Ledeen, Zelikow, Rhode, Rove, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Miller, Zakheim, Alexander, etc.) and the GHW Bush controlled CIA and Shadow Government.

GHW Bush is the largest drug dealer on earth. He uses CIA aircraft to run drugs. Afghanistan just had a bumper crop for ol “Poppy.” This is one of the means by which the globalists are able to fund their agenda outside of the Congressional budget process. Congress has been totally neutered. they DO NOT control the spending of the Shadow Government. While acting as “Comptroller” at DOD in the months prior to 9/11, Dov Zakheim stole $7 TRILLION and off-shored it to Israel. THAT’S YOUR MONEY.

Are you a coincidence theorist – or would you prefer to know the truth?

  69. ace says:

If the owners of these forums came clean with us about the pressures they face to silence any/all criticism of Israel in these threads, the entire story would become far more clear to those who doubt the power of the Israeli “Hasbara” program.

“Hasbara is specifically designed to promote the Likud’s goals – not advance the truth:

Nathan Guttman has characterized hasbara as “pro-Israel propaganda, ” while Avi Hyman has said “while propaganda strives to highlight the positive aspects of one side of a conflict, hasbara seeks to explain actions, whether or not they are justified.”

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasbara

One or two people can use the Megaphone software program to launch an e-mail barrage against a site owner demanding that certain posters be banned, lest the owner/operator be branded an “anti-Semite” or hate monger by the media machinery of the Zionists.

Their tactics are brutal, and their results are proven. Hundreds of Free Speech Advocates have been banned from dozens of message boards for the simple “crime” of daring to question the influence of Israel in US policies, and for revealing the proven espionage by this foreign power within our borders, to our detriment.

If you notice my name disappear from among your ranks, you’ll have yet more proof of “The Agenda” in action, and TP’s complicity therein.

If on the other hand, TP stiffens its’ spine and fights for FREE SPEECH over foreign interests, then I will simply say thank you for allowing the dialogue and debate to lead wherever free and open conversations choose – all within the guidelines of the site which provide for civil discourse.

The topic of a major thread on this site must be the pending “Hate Crimes” legislation recently submitted to Congress – by Israeli interests – designed specifically to CRIMINALIZE FREE SPEECH in the event the topic turns to the policies (crimes) of Israel. They make it appear to be about protecting Gays and others, but this is simply a clever ruse. You’ve seen it right here…if you criticise Israel, you are branded an “anti-Semite.” Once so branded by these thought police, then what? No one will dare mention the word “Israel,” – which is of course their goal, to act without consequence. “Holocaust Denial” is their red herring. That is NOT the issue. The issue is free speech. Speech cannot be a crime in the United State. It is PROTECTED UNDER THE CONSTITUTION. Remember that quaint document?

    Free Speech IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.

The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith introduced the same legislation last January 6, three days after Congress convened. Extraordinary action must be taken NOW to back down ADL.

Criminalizing speech in the United States is ABHORANT TO OUR VALUES.

TP, are you listening? Can we expose the downside of this legislation?

Israel is not a race, a religion or a gender. Israel is a country, not a person. No more special rules and special laws for this COUNTRY.

Anti-Semitism office planned at State Department

    By Nicholas Kralev
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES

President Bush plans to sign a bill passed by both houses of Congress that would establish a State Department office to monitor anti-Semitism around the world, despite the department´s strong objection, administration officials said yesterday.

“The bill is expected to arrive at the White House on Thursday and the president intends to sign it,” one official said.

The House and Senate, acting shortly before the Nov. 2 election, passed the Global Anti-Semitism Awareness Act late last week.

“It´s more of a bureaucratic nuisance than a real problem. We are not going to fight a bill that has gained such political momentum,” a State Department official said.

Establishing an anti-Semitism monitoring office and producing an annual report would duplicate work by other offices in charge of monitoring human rights and religious freedom, officials say.

“We opposed creation of a separate office for the purpose and opposed the mandating of a separate annual report,” State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters.

“We expressed the view that separate reports on different religions or ethnicities were not warranted, given that we already prepare human rights reports and religious freedom reports on 190 countries,” he said.

The legislation was introduced by Rep. Tom Lantos, California Democrat and the only Holocaust survivor in Congress, in response to the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Europe and the Middle East.

How is it that Jeb Bush just happened to declare Martial Law in Florida on September 10th, 2001, just one day prior to 9/11?

How big of a Coincidence Theorist would you have to be to assume that was happenstance?

How is it that on that very same day (the 10th), Donald Rumsfeld held a press conference during which he acknowledged that his Comptroller, Dov Zakheim, could not account for $2.3 TRILLION of DOD money?

    Wow – now THAT’S a coincidence!

thank goodness times are changing and our kids are more intelligent and see that all races are equal. even if their old parents or grandparents are still idiot or just ignorant. i teach now and i believe in being objective and if you have the ability, then you should get the job, get to the next grade or whatever. never matters what color you are. i wish at times those that feel it is ok to treat minorities as less of a person, would have the opportunity to be the minority and have their lives destroyed. sometimes you need to walk in someone elses shoes in order to understand reality of life. i found that those that are not objective, open minded and honest while respecting others, are those that have yet evolved. Thankfully, those type of people are dying off.

Why was Dick Cheney meeting with a notorious “terrorist” supporter in the 1990’s? Why did the CEO of Ptech confirm Cheney’s close relationship to this man? What role did Ptech play in Cheney’s activities on 9/11?

Mid-1990s: Al-Qadi Claims Good Relationship with Cheney

Saudi multimillionaire Yassin al-Qadi will say in an interview shortly after 9/11, “I have also met with US Vice President and former Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney in Jeddah [Saudi Arabia]. I spoke to him for a long time and we still have cordial relations.” The US had named al-Qadi a supporter of terrorism and frozen his assets two days before.

Oussama Ziade, CEO of Ptech, a US computer company that al-Qadi had invested in and that will be raided for suspected terrorism ties, later will claim that al-Qadi “talked very highly of his relationship” with Cheney. Ziade will claim he only knew al-Qadi for a few years starting around 1994, so presumably the contact between al-Qadi and Cheney happens during the mid-1990s.

“Ptech was with MITRE Corporation in the basement of the FAA for two years prior to 9/11,” Singh said. “Their specific job is to look at interoperability issues the FAA had with NORAD and the Air Force in the case of an emergency. If anyone was in a position to know that the FAA – that there was a window of opportunity or to insert software or to change anything – it would have been Ptech along with MITRE.”

    http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?read=68985

Ptech “produced software that derived from PROMIS, had an artificial intelligence core, and was installed on virtually every computer system of the U.S. government and its military agencies on September 11, 2001,”

His company “ODIGO” gave the early warning to Israeli Nationals on the morning of 9/11 to steer clear of the Twin Towers.

His other company PTECH developed software based on “PROMIS” which Cheney used to blind NORAD & the FAA on the morning of 9/11.

Alexander is said to have fled the country. It is claimed that he is in Namibia (of all places)

US submits extradition request for Kobi Alexander

The United States submitted a request to Namibia on Monday for the extradition of fugitive Comverse CEO Ya’akov (Kobi) Alexander.

The request came four days before the official cutoff date for such an appeal. Namibia’s justice minister was expected to convene an emergency discussion on the extradition request on Tuesday.

Alexander, who was accused in a multimillion-dollar stock manipulating scheme, was released on bail earlier this month by a Namibian judge. The Namibian government said at the time that it opposed bail pending a formal extradition request from the US, according to Justice Ministry official Dennis Khama.

Earlier, US Attorney Roslynn Mauskopf said that she would seek Alexander’s swift extradition to face charges in federal court in Brooklyn.

    HERE’S THE TRUTH:

ALEXANDER IS A MOSSAD OPERATIVE WHO WORKED HAND-IN-HAND WITH GHW BUSH AND CHENEY TO IMPLEMENT 9/11.

ALEXANDER IS ACUALLY ALREADY IN THE UNITED STATES (AND HAS BEEN FOR WEEKS) IN THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM.

    WHY?

    UNDER WHOSE CARE?

WHY IS THE US GOVERNMENT PROTECTING A MOSSAD AGENT HERE IN AMERICA IN THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM?

    BECAUSE CHENEY DID 9/11.

    ISRAEL’S MOSSAD HELPED.

AGENT CHERTOFF IS COVERING IT UP.

    Velma:

Advocating the banning of ANY poster (who provides commentary, theory, fact, or otherwise, supported by numerous links for your review and consideration) is contrary to Freedom Of Speech.

Considering that you have just posted one of the more racist diatribes I’ve ever read (just one day after Martin Luther King Day), I find your suggestion to ban me particularly ironic.

What I posted makes you “uncomfortable?” What you posted makes me “uncomfortable” too – but I totally support your right to say it, and trust the community to view you in the context you have created for yourself.

Neither of us have broken any of the rules of this message board. If you advocate banning of anyone who posts anything that “makes you uncomfortable,” you are not part of any solution. You may as well talk to yourself. At least then you’ll be “comfortable.”

If on the other hand, you seek the TRUTH, and you find ANYTHING that I ever post that is not true, by all means – it is your obligation to this community to call me on it – to provide links to the research materials that disrove my claims, and to set me straight.

The right to Free Speech in America comes with the understanding that we will all be made to feel “uncomfortable” from time to time when we hear things we’d rather not have heard.

Anyone who advocates censorship – particularly when no rules have been violated, is doing a great disservice to this country at a time when Fascism is wrapping its hand around our collective throats.

Be careful what you wish for. Being “uncomfortable” is a small price to pay for being alive and free.

Halliburton has in fact built Civialian forced labor prison camps in the United States. This is one of 800:

    http://www.democracyforums.com/showthread.php?tid=297

These are the actual GPS coordinates of its location:

    Latitude: 41.92
    Longitude: -106.521944

    This is the Program:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_Inmate_Labor_Program

The Army Corps of Engineers awarded Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root a $385 million contract to construct detention centers somewhere in the United States, to deal with “an emergency influx of immigrants into the US, or to support the rapid development of new programs,” KBR said. [Market Watch, Jan. 26, 2006]

You might be more “comfortable” not knowing about it, but you cannot deny its existence – or ban truth-seekers for exposing the truth.

I’d like to discuss this with you further, but it is only a matter of time before TP nukes your posts and bans you for daring to discuss 9/11. I’m mildly surprised it hasn’t happened already.

  86. ace says:

    Tripmaster:

Thanks for your interest in communicating. I’m not interested in posting my e-mail address in a public forum. As for an alternate site, Americablog seem to allow open discussion and provides for enough length-of-post to lay out the facts & links in context. The insistence on “brevity” and “No conspiracy talk” in much of the blogosphere generally serves the interests of those who do not want the thousands of dots to be connected – in order.

The CIA, The Mossad, DOD and DHS are all represented right here in these threads. It’s funny that you can read all about these programs in mainstream news articles, but to accuse anyone within these threads of being an operative for one of these organizations results in eyes rolling.

Personally, I think we should discuss all of these matters right here in the open. If TP decides to delete posts or ban us, so be it. It’s not a reflection on me. I merely represent the Truth and Free Speech. If TP wants to become known as the advocates for inhibiting investigation of the things that matter most to American citizens, that will be a reflection on their credibility, not ours. I challenge TP to do an investigative expose on “Swift Luck Greens” detention center. How can discussion of prison camps within the United States go unreported by the “Progressive” blogs? What could be mor Regressive than civilian hard labor prison camps built on the same model as Nazi Germany?

The only way to take back our country is to lead with the truth.

You’ll note that virtually NOBODY will challenge what I have posted with actual facts and links to back up their contentions. That’s because the TRUTH is the truth, and the facts speak for themselves.

It’s not a giant leap of logic to connect the dots once you allow yourself to think like a globalist criminal with no soul and unlimited resources.

Reveal the Truth – Relentlessly. It’s our only hope.

Entirely understandable. Perhaps we can exchange email info at a later time, in a less troll-intensive environment. ^_^

As for an alternate site, Americablog seem to allow open discussion and provides for enough length-of-post to lay out the facts & links in context.

I’ll see you there, under this nick (it’s the only one I use).

If TP decides to delete posts or ban us, so be it.

I’ve said on more than one occasion that, while I’ll respect the spirit of TP’s request not to discuss 9/11 (on the grounds that it hijacks threads) by refraining from bringing it up apropos of nothing, if the topic comes up as a natural part of the discussion (as it often does), I am not going to sit here and censor myself on the topic. What’s more, you’ll see that posts about 9/11 Truth are all well and good…provided you’re ridiculing the movement. That sort of lopsided censorship – deleting posts that discuss 9/11 Truth, while allowing posts that ridicule it and slavishly cleave to the Official Version of Events, are allowed to stand – demonstrates most eloquently that the moratorium on 9/11 Truth discussion here at TP isn’t about ‘hijacking threads’ at all…it’s about TP protecting its own interests, at the expense of the truth.

I’ve made it clear that I won’t be cowed into submission by TP. If they want to ban me, fine. There’s plenty more boards out there, and this one has been circling the drain for a while now.

I challenge TP to do an investigative expose on “Swift Luck Greens” detention center. How can discussion of prison camps within the United States go unreported by the “Progressive” blogs?

Indeed. We, sadly, expect this sort of dishonesty from our more traditional media, but an internet blog, and a ‘progressive’ one at that, practicing the same dishonesty is shameful.

Reveal the Truth – Relentlessly. It’s our only hope.

See you at AmericaBlog. I look forward to continuing this conversation. I’ve already posted in the ‘Watch This’ thread.

  89. TripMaster Monkey says:
