He gets his ass handed to him in the midterm elections, he has a 25% approval rating, even his own party think she sucks dick, yet he acts in every way as if he won in a landslide. He will continue to piss away our country’s resources, lives, honor and money to defend his pitiful ego.
If we are lucky, he will be stopped before he kicks off WWIII, but that may even be too late.
Bush is deranged. He believes that he was chosen by God to kick some Muslim butt, how can a 25% approval rating compete with that?
The worst person ever. As far as damage to America, that is. There have been some bad actors over the years, but in terms of damage to our country, he is enemy number 1.

It’s time to fight against global poverty and really commit to the Millennium Development Goals which were agreed on globally. The Borgen project says that it will cost a mere $19 billion annually to achieve one of these goals- the end to world hunger. That’s nothing compared to the over $300 billion we’ve spent on Iraq so far.

This site has had problems ever since the threads on “Path to 9/11″ were posted. What’s up? Either there are tech problems and the administrators don’t care (I think this is alot of it…I’ve had posts to appear, disappear, and the re-appear at a later time), or they are putting in some manual labor and getting too selective on what they are and are not allowing to appear, or the filters are working overtime, or who the heck knows. May be a combo of all three.

They told us that they had some problems with their spam filter in December. I’ve noticed that it seems to store them in increments, and then post those in a cache simultaneously at timed intervals. I guess it cues and scans the posts for set criteria, and then releases them. It’s pretty noticable if you watch for it.
I’ve found that lengthy posts tend to do the disappear and re-appear thing or just never show up because they exceed some arbitrary word count.
I don’t know, I don’t think TP is intentionally messing with people (IRI had claimed that several times before he finally gave up). I think the site just became really popular and in a way to balance between the spam and valid posts, there have been glitches.
Judd has taken the time to email me to let me know that he’s banned someone who impersonated me. I don’t think he would have done that if he didn’t really care about us and want this to be a community, so in retrun, I look for the most logical answer. Growing Pains. Know it’s not as exciting as the other theories, but I think it’s the most likely.
Just my two cents worth…

Briseadh and Trip, while it is really frustrating trying to post and not being able to, I guess that you are giving too much credit to Judd and his team as having a clandestine agenda (Trip´s words). I guess that they are really busy in order to be searching for your posts and deleting them just because they dont like you or beacuse these posts are “dangerous to the stablishment”. I think, again, that they have technical problems. We say that trolls dont have that problem, but really, how cant we know? I always post on Climate Change threads and some of them never get to the screen, I dont think steam reforming techniques to get hydrogen to be used in fuel cells are a disrupting information against the “clandestine agenda” and nonetheless they are deleted. But, of course, I could be wrong…please, keep posting.

Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba — I AM WRITING from the darkness of the U.S. detention camp at Guantanamo in the hope that I can make our voices heard by the world. My hand quivers as I hold the pen.
In January 2002, I was picked up in Pakistan, blindfolded, shackled, drugged and loaded onto a plane flown to Cuba. When we got off the plane in Guantanamo, we did not know where we were. They took us to Camp X-Ray and locked us in cages with two buckets — one empty and one filled with water. We were to urinate in one and wash in the other.
At Guantanamo, soldiers have assaulted me, placed me in solitary confinement, threatened to kill me, threatened to kill my daughter and told me I will stay in Cuba for the rest of my life. They have deprived me of sleep, forced me to listen to extremely loud music and shined intense lights in my face. They have placed me in cold rooms for hours without food, drink or the ability to go to the bathroom or wash for prayers. They have wrapped me in the Israeli flag and told me there is a holy war between the Cross and the Star of David on one hand and the Crescent on the other. They have beaten me unconscious.
What I write here is not what my imagination fancies or my insanity dictates. These are verifiable facts witnessed by other detainees, representatives of the Red Cross, interrogators and translators.
During the first few years at Guantanamo, I was interrogated many times. My interrogators told me that they wanted me to admit that I am from Al Qaeda and that I was involved in the terrorist attacks on the United States. I told them that I have no connection to what they described. I am not a member of Al Qaeda. I did not encourage anyone to go fight for Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden have done nothing but kill and denigrate a religion. I never fought, and I never carried a weapon. I like the United States, and I am not an enemy. I have lived in the United States, and I wanted to become a citizen.
I know that the soldiers who did bad things to me represent themselves, not the United States. And I have to say that not all American soldiers stationed in Cuba tortured us or mistreated us. There were soldiers who treated us very humanely. Some even cried when they witnessed our dire conditions. Once, in Camp Delta, a soldier apologized to me and offered me hot chocolate and cookies. When I thanked him, he said, “I do not need you to thank me.” I include this because I do not want readers to think that I fault all Americans.
But, why, after five years, is there no conclusion to the situation at Guantanamo? For how long will fathers, mothers, wives, siblings and children cry for their imprisoned loved ones? For how long will my daughter have to ask about my return? The answers can only be found with the fair-minded people of America.
I would rather die than stay here forever, and I have tried to commit suicide many times. The purpose of Guantanamo is to destroy people, and I have been destroyed. I am hopeless because our voices are not heard from the depths of the detention center.
If I die, please remember that there was a human being named Jumah at Guantanamo whose beliefs, dignity and humanity were abused. Please remember that there are hundreds of detainees at Guantanamo suffering the same misfortune. They have not been charged with any crimes. They have not been accused of taking any action against the United States.
Show the world the letters I gave you. Let the world read them. Let the world know the agony of the detainees in Cuba.

I was deeply troubled to hear that you have decided not to pursue hearings into the question of the disastrous failures of the FEMA/Bush administration/federal governmental response to Hurricane Katrina. The victims of that horrible storm were further victimized by a clearly “broken” government emergency management system. How can we “fix” the system if we do not examine its flaws, and the impact those flaws have on the victims it is designed to help? I realize that there are those in Congress who wish to protect the image of our government, and who don’t want to engage in partisan political blame games. However, this situation clearly demonstrated gross criminal negligence on the parts of many of the officials/agencies responsible to protect and serve the constituency in capacities that they (the officials/agencies) received compensation/funding for. Seeking accountability from those responsible for mismanaging this situation is critical in restoring the people’s confidence in their governmental institutions and officials.
If you refuse to do your duty then your name should/will certainly go down in history as an accomplice in covering up what is ostensibly government “criminal” wrongdoing. I urge you to reconsider your decision, and help rectify this catastrophic failure on the government’s part.

Cache issue with Explorer where old threads come up and if I don’t refresh IE, new threads don’t come up. This is the only site that this happens with. I have cleared cache, ran diags, chkdsk…. doesn’t fail.
Site fails to load at all, and causes IE to crash…when I first started posting had no issues. If I run Ethereal I see that I get no response from TP server. Packet sniffing shows runt packets on the return path.
Deleted post…not some, but all in some cases. I don’t feel what I’m posting is controversial…I don’t slam Israel. In fact I support the Israeli people just not the “The Institute”… or factions of Mossad that have splintered.

First of all, I never accused the editors of TP of acting from personal reasons. It is my firm belief that this is business, not personal at all.
Second, I never claimed that our posts were deleted because of some “danger to the establishment” (whatever the ‘establishment may be). What I do claim is that there are certain topics that are verboten to be discussed on ThinkProgress, and that users who write posts concerning said topics have their posts summarily deleted, while users who persist in writing posts concerning said topics wind up banned. In the absence of any coherent explanation of why some posts are thus unacceptable while others are fine, including posts that clearly violate the listed Terms of Use of the site, I am forced to postulate a clandestine agenda.
I addressed this point a few weeks ago, but I don’t mind repeating myself.
We’re currently seeing two separate issues here regarding the ‘disappearing’ of posts. One issue, the one you reference, is that of posting a comment, only to find that it never sees the light of day. This, I will concede, is entirely likely to be a technical problem with the site, especially since the vast majority of posters who have complained of it (such as yourself) describe their posts (such as fuel cell technology), and it is clear that such posts do not fall within the ‘verboten’ topics I mentioned earlier.
The second issue…the issue which is plaguing posters like Briseadh, JTitor, and myself, is that of posts going through and being visible on the board (and sometimes even garnering a few replies) before being ‘disappeared’ without a trace. In the event of a post egregiously violating the Terms of Use on this site, they are erased and replaced by a (comment deleted by admin) message, but the ones that fall afoul of the clandestine agenda are deleted without a trace, incidentally changing the number of every succeeding post. It is usually only by comparing the numbers referenced by posters replying to older posts with the actual contents of that numbered post that one can discern that there was a comment deleted at all.
This is the behavior that Briseadh and I find so objectionable.

WASHINGTON: US President George W. Bush has said the execution of Saddam Hussein was mishandled, admitting in private comments to US TV journalists that the ugly scenes during the former dictator’s hanging were second only to the Abu Ghraib scandal in terms of disastrous mistakes in Iraq.
The comments came as Mr Bush conceded in a television interview that the invasion of Iraq had greatly destabilised the country – although he insisted that Iraqis should still be grateful to the US for starting the war.
As the White House scrambled to stem a flow of Republican defections over Mr Bush’s plan to send another 21,500 troops to Iraq, Mr Bush again defended the invasion, saying that Saddam had been competing with Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon and had been making the region unstable.

At least 16 Republican senators have either publicly opposed the escalation plan, or voiced scepticism. The defections have increased the likelihood of a Democrat-led congressional resolution opposing the surge.
Although such a resolution would have no practical effect – as Commander-in-Chief Mr Bush is free to ignore Congress on troop deployments - it would lay the ground for potentially overwhelming opposition if violence in Baghdad were not quelled.
Carl Levin, Democrat chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told CNN that such a resolution would also send a “very, very strong message to the Iraqis that they must resolve their differences. Think about it from their perspective. Judd wants to be, and frankly, is a credible journalist. If he allows this site to be linked to highly contentious conspiracy theories, he loses the very thing he is trying to build, and TP gets labeled poorly. If I were him, I’d take the same position. I can’t imagine the manpower it would take to read through every comment and decide what stays and what goes. Thus, my guess is that it’s a spam filter issue — whether key words, links, or IP addy (a tricky one since big ISPs use the same IP addys for many people).

You see, the technological equipment necessary to allow cell phones to make calls from a commercial aircraft wasn’t available in 2001. Only recently have a couple of European air carriers started to install the necessary equipment.
The cell phone calls could not have possibly been made as claimed.

I agree with that. 9/11 derails entire threads (perhaps, such as this one). There are a lot of people out there who claims something about a ghost plane. I think those are right-wing paid people in order to discredit valid doubts about the 9/11 events. The one who has the entire guilt that we discuss 9/11 is US government´s. There are so many unanswered issues, even after the Comission Report, and judging the POV that this government has regarding the value of life, that is almost impossible not to think there is something fishy. First off, I nned to say sorry for saying you would want it spoon feed. That was wrong. Part of the issue is that I don’t know what you know, what you have read on the subject? Most of the comments I have seen have come from realible sorces that have backed up there facts. The issue that I have is what I hear are lies from this administration. The administration puts together a commission to investigate 9/11, 727 days after the event kicking and screaming. Then the comission report comes out and it is a whitewash. All I ask is that a impartial comission be assembled to reinvestigate. 9/11 is at the core of everything that is happening now and will be happening for some time to come. I would like to know the truth.

Part of the issue is that I don’t know what you know, what you have read on the subject?
Quite a bit. Mostly internet stuff – things people posted links to here, and I had a student last year who burned me a cd on the current stuff to see what I thought.
I was also an architect for 14 years before I began teaching it, so the tower collapse aspect of the theory for me is a big thorn.
All I ask is that a impartial comission be assembled to reinvestigate. 9/11 is at the core of everything that is happening now and will be happening for some time to come. I would like to know the truth.

I have no problems with that. I think it would answer a lot of questions and resolve some disputes. Give some people closure to the disconnects. But it won’t happen on Bush’s watch. It’s why we have to continue to be a united voice in the political arena for the next two years, and hope that we manage to get a candidate who willing to do that.
I’m not sure, however, that is is possoble to get an impartial candidate for president who isn’t a slave to the Corporations that fund their campaigns. Sad.

The debt was out of control with Reagan and Reaganomics turned into an utter failure, except for the top 1% of the country. GB1 just continued the Reagan doctrine and we saw what happened to that wuss.
Then Clinton came in and adjusted the tax structure (yes, he RAISED taxes on the wealthy and balanced out the tax burden) as much as possible and addressed our economic policy. We then entered into the most prosperous years this country had seen since the immediate aftermath of WWII. There have been some claims that the middle-class accumulated more wealth during the Clinton era than any time in US history, but obviously that is impossible to prove due to differing economies and dollar valuations, etc… However, the fact that such an argument can be credibly put forth is telling in and of itself.
Do you remember the word “Surplus”? It’s the opposite of “Deficit”, which is a bad thing by the way.
Then GBjr came in and returned things to the level of Reagan’s failure. Clear enough for you?

Actually, I dont believe in metaphysics. None of that has been proven by science, however, that doesnt mean it is NOT interesting. I admire the way that druids and indian tribes got in touch with themselves and nature. Perhaps the modern hi-tech man should learn a lot about this philosophy. I practice aikido and the world changes once you are inside the tatami. Science can describe it as heartbeats, body dynamics, force, etc. but science fails to grasp the real meaning of the art, of course.

I also want to know the truth about 9/11, and not have it suppressed. I am not a conspiracy theorist, I simply like to know the facts. And the facts, in this instance, do not add up. Really, to quite a staggering degree.
First of all, the pancake theory’s physical impossibility really does point to some sort of demolitions. There is absolutely no way, under physics, that a building can go into freefall, terminal velocity, whatnot, under the pancake theory. The math doesn’t even come close to working. Was it patient terrorists setting the whole thing up over months of time? I want to know. Was it a rogue faction within our government? I want to know.
Why were the stocks for all of the airlines used in the attacks traded 11x more heavily in the few days leading up to the attack? I really want to know that one, and I want to know who it was involved in those transactions. Follow the money. Basic Investigations 101. Those numbers are off the chart as far as anomalies go, yet the MSM refuses to go near then. But, the facts are there. Anyone can check the stock market and see the activity. It was real, and someone got very, very rich off of this horrible tragedy.
Speaking of getting rich off of the tragedy, why did Silverstein buy such an enormous insurance policy on the buildings so close to the attacks? Why did Silverstein, on camera, approve the demolition of the building, using a term ONLY used in professional demolition work? Why did firemen, also on camera, say they finally got word that they were “pulling the building”? “Pulling a building” is only used in those terms. It takes far, far longer than a few hours to set up such a demolition job.Coincidence? That is a more insane conspiracy theory than all of the stuff the UFO folks come up with.
Why the hell were our military conducting terror alert tests involving FLYING PLANES INTO BUILDINGS that very morning? Why did Dick Cheney insist that the Air Force stand down? How the hell did those planes stay in the air for so long, when there are countless instances of F-16s reaching planes off course in under 15 minutes with longer distances to travel to reach said off-course plane?
Do I think George W. Bush did it? No, I do not. Do I think Israel did it? No, I do not. That does not, however, mean I am willing to rule out rogue factions within the intelligence community in those and other countries. The Community, as they like to refer to themselves, consider themselves a separate entity from the governments and citizens alike that they are supposed to serve.
Honestly, to me, it seems like a combination of bait & switch on the stock market, combined with insurance scam. And a distinct possibility that Cheney wanted a Gulf of Tonkin to get the ball rolling on his decades-long agenda against Iraq and Iran. Does it sound crazy compared to the official story? Perhaps, but not really, to anyone who has seriously studied history. There have been numerous false flags in human history, including those that Americans participated in. This is all on the public record, and officially acknowledged by historians and the government alike.
We’ll never know until an actual investigation is put forth, however. We do know, for certain, that regardless of who committed that horrible atrocity, this Administration used it for their own political means. Even if that is their only role in the entire matter, that is unacceptable.
To those who absolutely don’t even want to look at the evidence, consider this: Do you think the many honorable, well-regarded members of the scientific community, and most of the people who want to know the truth LIKE the thought of such conspiracies being true? Because let me tell you, it f**king sucks. It absolutely sucks to think that there are people who could be so evil, and so two-faced about it all. I’d much, much rather we had concrete, publicly discussed and reviewed evidence directly linking terrorist cells to that tragic day. Sure, the conspiracy theorists who get off on everything being linked to some great, Illuminati-like uber-conspiracy do. But those of us just looking at the pieces of the puzzle and seeing SO MANY contradictions to the “official account” are most assuredly not having a good time.

Buildings are 95% air (it’s how you inhabit them). They only ever fall, like everything else that isn’t solid, at 32 ft per second squared (this means that they accelerate as they fall). Traditional explosives are not necessary… Though a plane filled with jet fuel that explodes could be considered the only necessary force. Physically it was enough.
I’ve studied physics, statics and engineering. I then practiced it for 14 years in the industry.
The way the towers fell do not prove conspiracy.

Don’t start.
It’s not that the Dems don’t have a plan. They just don’t have one that Bush or the Repubs in the 109th agreed to. Murtha wanted to redepoy the troops, but oh no, we couldn’t do that.
Bush said that he’d pull out America’s troops if the Iraqi government asked. They asked. He ignored them. It’s on TP if you know how to use the search option.
Saw Katie Couric interview a commander on CBS News last week. He said that historically speaking, it takes about 10 years to quell an insurgency. Are you ready to commit our troops, including possibly one that is a member of your family or a friend’s family, to 6 more years of Iraqi occupation?
And what of Bush’s plan? Is he going to smack the Iraqis on the hands if his “new way forward” doesn’t work? Oh wait…the only negative thing that will happen if the Iraqis don’t take advantage of our escalation and stand up so that we can stand down will be that they will lose the support of the American people. Yeah…that’ll get them moving.

January 16th, 2007 at 11:36 amAs much as I respect you, since you’ve been a congenial and thoughtful poster for as long as I’ve been perusing TP, buildings do not just freefall without demolitions. Yes, buildings are mostly air. But a skyscraper is constructed of incredibly strong steel girders that don’t just melt or shatter, and certainly not in a unilaterally even spread across the width of a building. Even the weight of all that steel collapsing in upon itself simply does not allow for a freefall. One layer hits the next layer, which halts the freefall for just a moment. There is vastly more resistance in such a fall than air resistance, which is absolutely, 100% proven able to prevent an object from accelerating all the way to terminal velocity. That is one of the specific reasons why they have to use demolitions…to powderize the layers below the freefall as the building collapses in upon itself in such a manner as to prevent that resistance from occurring.
Next, there are virtually no instances of a fire, or even an explosion causing any building, much less a skyscraper, to collapse. In the extremely rare cases when they have, the buildings have been smaller, the fire far hotter than mere airline fuel burning off, and the fire has raged for far, far longer than those in the Towers. Moreover, the likelyhood of a building fire causing a skyscraper to fall straight down is incredibly tiny. A building is far more likely to fall at an angle, especially once the portion above the fire impacts the portion below the fire. That is another major reason for demolitions, to prevent the fall from straying. What’s more, the Towers were specifically designed to withstand temperatures far in excess of that airline fuel is capable of. Nearly twice as hot, in fact.
We are honestly supposed to believe that a fall with such incredibly small odds of occuring once happened not once, not twice, but three times in just a matter of hours? The statistical likelyhood of that occuring is…well, it’s just beyond staggering.
Like others here, I did not believe that there was a conspiracy of this sort for years after 9/11. But the evidence that something is severely amiss is just too overwhelming. The fact that the administration flat out refused any sort of investigation until long after the pieces of the building were sold off for scrap metal is downright frightening. I want to know who did it, why they did and, and how they did it. If it ends up being terrorists, again, awesome. But at this point, the answer that supports the evidence is far more depressing and frightening than Al Qaeda could ever hope to be. And that is just the physical evidence. That doesn’t even cover the possible insurance scam and insider trading informatio.
