“The handwritten personal papers of Martin Luther King Jr., including his sermons and the ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, will be on display in Atlanta today.”

$72.9 million: Amount that has been raised to fund a memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr. on the National Mall. The memorial is expected to cost $100 million.

The White House has denied a Guardian report that Bush is preparing to make an “historic shift” on global warming in his State of the Union address. “[The story] is inaccurate on all fronts,” a White House official said, “and especially regarding the State of the Union.”

The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), which represents 45,000 churches, has joined with leading scientists to fight global warming. “Whether God created the Earth in a millisecond or whether it evolved over billions of years, the issue we agree on is that it needs to be cared for today,” said Rich Cizik of the NAE.

President Bush’s escalation plan is facing “some of its fiercest resistance from the very people it depends on for success: Iraqi government officials.”

Private contractors, civilian government employees, embedded journalists, and other civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan “could be subject for the first time to military courts-martial under a new federal provision.”

Frederick W. Kagan, an American Enterprise Scholar who “has the president’s ear” on Iraq and crafted the escalation plan, is actually not a “military expert,” according to a look at his resume.

And finally: After six years in office, President Bush has now spent one full year at Camp David. “Mark Knoller, CBS White House correspondent and the unofficial archivist for the White House press corps, reports on the CBS Web site that the Bushes took off Friday for their 116th visit to the beautiful presidential retreat and their 365th day there.” As of Jan. 1, Bush has spent 405 full or partial days at the Crawford ranch.

Re Kagan. Since when has Bush ever regarded expertise in a field as a qualification to work for him? Loyalty and telling the preznit are what counts.

President Bush’s escalation plan is facing “some of its fiercest resistance from the very people it depends on for success: Iraqi government officials.”

bush doesn't give a flip about this, all this bone head cares about is 'winning' so he doesn't end up looking like the biggest idiot ever to occupy the white house for getting us into this mess - for no damn reason. If this escalation doesn't work, he'll escalate again, and again, and again. He'll send every last troop we have and spend every dime we'll ever have in an effort to save his 'legacy'. He doesn't give a rat's ass what the Iraqis think, what the military thinks, what congress thinks, or what you and I think.

Fred Kagan. Now here's a piece of work. Like our Secretary of Shoes, his studies addressed the Cold War & Russia. He has no Middle East expertise, no military experience, yet has the President's 'Ear'...& the President has his ass. But, he does say what W wants to hear. His initial 'splurge' was to encompass 80,000 troops. Now he's OK with 21,500.
I watched this ass clown on CSPAN telling a group of about 30 people how all this would work & how it would 'win' the Iraq war.
These are the kind of people the Neosluts have to use, becasue no one else is sleazy enough to write plans for a f*cked up mission. W didn't listen to the ISG recommendations, his Generals or Congress. But he listens to this stooge!

  12. theswan Says:

It's nice to see Dr. Martin Luther King at the top of your page.

  13. Erroll Says:

As moving as Dr. King's words are regarding civil rights, it should not be forgotten that he also spoke out quite eloquently against war and violence. In a speech that he gave at the Riverside Church in New York, Dr. King said "I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today- my own government."

His words proved to be quite prescient, drawing an unmistakeable parallel today to the disaster in Iraq when he pointed out that "Somehow this madness must cease. We must stop now. I speak as a child of God and for those whose land is being laid waste, whose homes are being destroyed, whose culture is being subverted. I speak for the poor in America who are paying the double price of smashed hopes at home and death and corruption in Vietnam. I speak as a citizen of the world, for the world as it stands aghast at the path we have taken. I speak as an American to the leaders of my own nation. The great initiative in this war is ours. The initiative to stop it must be ours."

If only today's leaders like the politically expedient Barack Obama had the courage and wisdom to emulate what Dr. King has said and apply it today to Iraq. If not, this country will continue to have its troops and the Iraqis die for the lies that have been put forth by this corrupt administration. Bring the troops home- safely- now.

  14. tarazan Says:

A good number of Republican Senators and Congress member names will be on the ballots of 2008 elections ; they know that continue backing Bush policies will go on the record for their next elections, and push their standings even lower. They also know that Bush mind is not on his or theirs elections after he and Cheney finish their current terms. For Bush..he is not hoping to win elections again...he is looking for his place in history..something he has convinced himself that by achieving this long sought illusive 'victory in Iraq',then he has achieved his goals. But this long sought victory when it is achieved , or if there is one to be found or achieved will be costly in lives and money..but before this victory arrives, 'mission' must be defined with more clarity.

    Another news story:

Casey says results in Iraq won't be fast

In other words, there won't be any improvement in the situation on Bush's watch. In fact, things might even get worse, in which case, we'll have to send in another 20,000 troops, and extend the tour of duty to 3 years.

  18. chimpeach Says:

President Bush’s escalation plan is facing “some of its fiercest resistance from the very people it depends on for success: Iraqi government officials.”

So, because of de-Baathification and the way the Iraqi government was set up, we don't have an Iraqi military we can count on to work with U.S. troops in the "surge" without them using it as a way of strengthening the Shiites' grip on the country. If Bush goes through with this, it is most likely going to move Iraq even closer to Iran. Simply unbelievable.

Every decision that the Great Decider has made has been disastrous. Each wrong decision has made it increasingly more difficult to find any kind of a right decision. Now there is no way to stay or to get out without leaving the Middle East in turmoil and resulting in much more bloodshed.

The moron is all out of last chances. He cannot be allowed to make any more of these decisions. It's gone too far. He's proven himself incapable of handling this responsibility. Do we really need to wait until Armageddon before prying his hands off of the reins?

Cheney said we can't have the war run by committee, and his right-wing fans have echoed that. How is it okay to have a war run by one person, especially one who refuses to listen to anyone who doesn't already agree with him; one who ignores his generals, foreign policy experts from his father's administration, respected members of his own party, and the wishes of the vast majority of Americans? This is no time to be timid. Shut him down before he destroys our country and half of the world along with it.

Rev. King was Assassinated because He opposed the vile Vietnam War!
    Monday 15th of January 2007
    by Jay Randal

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. dared to vigorously oppose the vile Vietnam War and he was assassinated for it.

Historians have mistakenly assumed he was killed for his stand on Civil Rights, but he was silenced because he strongly believed that the Vietnam War was wrong.

The warmongers in Washington, DC, were furious at King for telling the truth about Vietnam and desired his elimination before he persuaded public to end war.

Robert Kennedy, like Rev. King, knew that Vietnam War was wrong too, so he campaigned for president against the conflict and was assassinated for his view.

Both of them paid with their lives for opposing war, so Americans need to remember what they stood for, and never forget the price they paid trying to make peace.

The Iraq War is an outrage, just like Vietnam War, so it must be ended, but will others have to die for peace?

( Jay Randal, political activist and writer in Georgia, USA.)

  20. veritas Says:

If this incredible patriot (Martin Luther King) were alive today he'd be incredulous to see how far this country has descended in terms of freedom and personal rights. He'd be appalled to see such unchecked power abuse by this president. He'd be embarrassed to witness the antics of arrogrance, disregard for the will of the people, and imperialistic, aggregious offenses being paraded as democracy. This democracy is a sham in every sense of the word and it's time for the people to "wake up" and Impeach this president for high crimes and misdemeanors. It's TIME!

  24. veritas Says:

This is the most apropos time for King's legacy to come to the fore as it will shine some light on precisely why he was assassinated.....who was behind it....and how it was covered up by this country. We really haven't come very far when one ponders these questions, have we? In fact, we've regressed since MLK's time significantly. How much farther can this country descend? We're on the downhill spiral now which is evident and spiralling out of control with each passing day. Unfortunately, MLK's "dream" has turned into a bona fide "nightmare"....just look at New Orleans if you disagree.....then look at all of the domestic programs which will have to be cut or eliminated in order to "surge up" this debacle called Iraq. Bush will go down in history as the "PARIAH PRESIDENT" - who made such reprehensible mistakes that no one will care to admit that they were foolish enough to elect him as their president.

Iraq is "bush's legacy nightmare" - but then, no sociopath worries about nightmares and sleeps like a baby - Bush doesn't have a "dream" or a "nightmare"......"I sleep better than most american would think" or better said and truly what he meant is "I sleep better than most americans whose lives I've turned into a nightmare!".

  32. veritas Says:

Rome Burned while Nero, the fiddling despot, sat and watched. History has not been kind (and understandably so) to this obviously psychiatrically compromised emperor who facilitated and then watched (with glee?) the demise of the Roman Empire.

Have we not another Nero case right under our eyes at this moment in time? Have we not witnessed the hallmarks of profound psychiatric disease in the words and actions of George Bush?

Of course we have and one mus wonder how seriously physicians take their Oath of Hippocrates these days when they, also, observe evidence of serious psychiatric disease in one elected to office. Is it not their obligation to help someone so obviously in need and distress?

If the average person without medical education is left scratching their head following some of this man's comments, actions, etc., then one can only wonder what a medical profession who has seen this disease many times must be thinking.

One of the hallmarks of psychiatric illness is the inability to have personal insight which means that there is a sense of delusion/illusion present which disallows them to see what they truly are - i.e., never being able to admit making a mistake, never realizing how other people perceive them, hearing voices which aren't there (the voice of God is "textbook") and otherwise blasting their way through life living in a dual reality....where they are king and make all the rules (bipolar disorder) and listen to absolutely no one about anything.

What further evidence do we need? How much more damage can we afford at the hands of this obviously ill individual? How much further can we descend.

It's true that every addict, every psychiatrically compromised individual needs to reach their own nadir (bottom) before they can even begin to recognize that they are the source of their own problems. (Every business venture Bush has ever had has been bungled or otherwise destroyed until Daddy came in to rescue him).

what will bush's nadir be? how far down will we allow him to take this country? These are serious questions and decisions which the american people need to make before it's too late.

32 - Jay, that's too much like 1984. Europe has a different view. There, Concentration Camps still stand as a silent monument to the horrors that man can inflict upon man. Though this would be appropriate:

"Every one wants instant results. What people do not realize is that we are building a new nation in here (Iraq). How long did it take for us to do that in the US after the Declaration of Independence? People here want a Constitution, but you can not just cut and paste one from the one we have in the US. Constitutions need to be written, and they are written in blood."

  38. Jay Randal Says:

Faire I agree with you, but government historians would prefer to erase Bush's history or to pretty it up with concocted fallacy. For example: Pres. 43. veritas Says:

If we, as a country, have ever really "prayed", then it is time to enlist the spiritual presensc of this great Patriot-Saint of Freedom & Democracy known as The Rev. Dr.Martin Luther King who gave up his life for his beliefs, who gave up his life to the evils of his day who sought nothing more than to snuff out his personal "light"... to implore him to empower us with the wisdom to do what's right, the fortitude to withstand the clutches of an imperial presidency, the will to do our individual parts in standing up to unchecked presidential power, and to, once again, have those timeless, appropriate words on the tips of our tongues: "We Shall Overcome".... This is Dr. King's legacy and mandate.....This is our new mandate - that is to do "whatever it takes" (which means impeachment) to put a bridle on this renegade administration who have trampled our civil rights before our very eyes, who have used our constitution as toilet paper, who have denegraded every office which once held respect in the history of this country.....

Yes, Dr. King's legacy lives on - in the hearts & minds of the american people....his words were never more appropriate than they are today and, yes, he is providing us each with additional courage to stand up to the administration of lies and corruption which are the hallmark of the Bush Presidency.

Every american (and especially those who misjudged and misplaced their votes for this wolf in sheep's clothing) need to recognize that the "people" are the power - that "the people" elect these jokers in office and pay their weekly paychecks....and that this is still a government "of the people" "by the people" and "for the people" although it is cloaked under a miasma of darkness and evil at this moment......beneath this cloud of doom lies a once-great country and it's time for us to fight.....not in Iraq....but in our own country. It's is time for us to stand up and be counted and to fight for what we know to be truth.....not some fictionalized, Orwellian version of spin & lies......to stand up and be counted and viewed by our children as having the courage and "guts" to bring this country back to greatness. It can be done.....one person at a time.....and the time is now to stand up for what we believe.

Until these past 6 years, America has never been defined as hypocritical; in 6 short years, we've come to epitomize everything evil, twisted, and delusional.....where lies reign supreme and truth gets twisted into deceit. We've been manipulated by master manipulators who live in a fictionalized, computerized board game called "the great american experiment". All this at the expense of the very people it claims to serve.

This is the largest hypocrisy of it all.....that this country cares a damn about it's own people. They care about nothing except filling their corporate and personal coffers with money....lining their mansions with gold....off the backs of the people who believed in them.

Out, Out damn spot of corruption! Out with all of the charlatans parading as decent, moral human beings.....shapeshifters - all of them!

How does this compare to past presidencies? I imagine it has to be pretty up there as the most vacationing president ever, but I really want to see some numbers. Anybody have any info? For one, they take from a system that they did not contribute into. And here, the rich can afford the accountants to find them the loopholes so that they don't contribute just the working middle class. In essence, that is stealing. And from people who are doing without as a result, even though they paid their taxes.

And we're not talking about a few people. We're talking about millions.

So, since their employers make huge profits, and the rich don't pay taxes, it actually takes money out of the system. Especially when they send it back home and don't spend it here to cycle it through our economy.

If everytime I put water into a bucket you take it out and pour it into another pot, I can never have enough water in my bucket for my family.

I do agree that we should blame the people who put us all in this situation. But the ramifications of it are that the American middle class is being forced to carry the weight of millions of non-tax payers who live here. And that does hurt.

Ultimately, the problem is the whole over-population problem we have. This planet cannot support 6.4 billion people, and it demonstrates that daily.

If someone states that dubya’s actions / inactions are LIKENED to the dragging death of their father, that IS more than just a coincedence of the two words being in the same sentence.

So, Jason, did you fail Reading Comprehension, or was it just not a subject at alternate-university Ivy-League Stanford? Let's look at the offending sentence again, shall we?

So when Governor George W. Bush refused to support hate-crime legislation, it was like my father was killed all over again.

Anyone who is capable of feeding themselves can see that Renee Mullins was referring to the intense emotional distress she experienced as a result of the horrific hate-crime murder of her father...distress she experienced anew as a result of Chimpy's callous refusal to support hate-crime legislation.

Only a ridiculous mouth-breather like yourself could claim a direct connection between the two. Are you actually trying to assert that the ad claims Chimpy dug up James Byrd, reanimated him, and killed him again?

    Only you, Jason...only you.

I've half a mind to call up alternate-universe Ivy-League Stanford and have a talk with them regarding their admission policies...oh, that's right...I can't.

"Logic" and "gut feeling" are not synonyms, no matter how dearly or desperately held that gut feeling may be. I see it a lot here in Georgia despite the years of education most of my co-workers have. They put side their eduaction for tehir religiuos barometer and instantly reject any action or view different from their own as 'wrong' and/or 'evil', while forcing their way on others and then wondering why they get the exact opposite of their intention... Thats the question and I agree with you that overpopulation is a problem, however it doesnt seem to be a problem for germans, for example. How is it that population in Germany is almost three times higher than population in Argentina, in a smaller country area? Europe, as a continent, must be the piece of land in this planet that has more population density, however, they dont have the bad levels of life-quality that latinamericans have. The problem is not overpopulation, the problem is distribution of wealth. Poor families have a lot of kids because they signify labor force. Swiss families dont have many children because all their commodities can be achieved using efficient labor force (machines, water, transport, etc.)

I agree. They have learned to live in small places (their apartments are small but cozy), in my opinion, due to the limited space they have and they have small engines (FIAT, Peugeot, etc.) because they dont have much oil. However, they have superlative indicators regarding quality of life becuz, and this is the sad thing, they have taken resources from America, Africa and Asia.
My point was that overpopulation is certainly an issue but saying that overpopulation is the reason why poor people is poor is a capitalist myth. Latinamerica must be one of the less population dense regions in the world and one of the richest (copper, woods, coffee, guano, gold, silver, etc.) yet, the vast majority of its population lives in poverty.

What you are talking about is not leveling the playing field. It is not leveling the playing field if you do not let the other team into the stadium. You are talking about excluding someone that may or may not be more qualified based on skin color. That is discrimination. If a Black run company can do it better/faster/cheaper, then so be it. But if a company run by any one else can do it faster/better/cheaper, then they sould get the contract.

Hey, here is a novel idea. Blind bidding on contracts.
Company (A) says they will do it in 6 months for $75 million. They submit a design that is accepted. Company (B) says they will do it in 6 months for $55 million, and they to submit a design that is accepted. No names are disclosed, no demographic information available. Who should get the contract?

****Dear Roberto, you know we *do* care as conservatives. I don't want those *mud-people* and *koranimals* getting any of my nice jewish/christian tax dollars! That's why we *conservatives* would argue that blind bidding would open us up to underqualified and undercapitalized companies that didn't have the expertise or skills to do the job. We would then demand they supply financial records, or enough details to determine their size, and we would immediate weed out the smaller *minority* business without having to admit to being bigots!

We do this sort of thing all of the time in the current system. Why wouldn't we do it more if there are no *minority* initiatives! But I do appreciate you carrying water for our side. 153. unbelievable Says:

    Yes, it can.

It currently isn't. It's why things are so screwed up and people are causing other species to go extinct.... people are starving to death or dying from drinking contaminated water because we've not got enough potable water in the system. Only 5% of the water on the planet is potable - and then a fraction of that isn't in cloud or glaciers or people (since we're 86% water ourselves).

Energy from the sun is like 5 orders of magnitude higher than the order of magnitude used by human civilization.

But it only releases enough for us to use in a day, and even then it is only plants that can capture it... So the more of them we destroy, the less usable energy we actually have.

How is it that population in Germany is almost three times higher than population in Argentina, in a smaller country area?

It's more than size. It has to do with what they produce and who is willing to buy it from them for how much. And what that money can buy them in terms of competition against other nations for natural resources.

I think the fact that countries fight is proof that there isn't enough to go around. Most animals, including predators don't fight unless it is for survival.

Europe, as a continent, must be the piece of land in this planet that has more population density, however, they dont have the bad levels of life-quality that latinamericans have.

Try India. Europe isn't as densely populated. And they have technology giving them a playing field advantage.

The problem is not overpopulation, the problem is distribution of wealth.

Both are problems, because without over-population, distribution of wealth would not exist in such disparity, if at all. Whenthe planet is in balance, there isn't a need to re-distribute, or hoard, wealth - because there is plenty to go around.

Thoimm Hatman said that the acceptable human population for our planet is about 250,000....

Just because you don't like to admit these *conservative* values we have that make sure black people stay in their proper place - don't be mad at me. I know that honesty comes slowly to both of us. But I join David Duke in reminding america that we are strong and powerful because of *white-power*. Just because much of the early american wealth was made on the backs of black people and immigrant minorities, doesn't mean it isn't ours! We exploited them fair and square, and we deserve the breaks we get in better schools, better social networking, better economic and educational opportunities! It's god's will! They're the cursed children of Noah, and god wants them to be our underclass! Just read your bible, and you'll discover that jesus was white and white people are destined to continue to rule the world!

  160. robert Says:

Of course it is. You just won’t accept that the field is biased toward rich, white American men.

You are wrong, I accept that it is and say it shouldn't be. But it should not be biased towards minorities either. If you give preference to one or the other, it is not balanced. Balance requires EQUAL WEIGHT on both sides.

Life doesn’t work that way dear.

So, to combat that, you give a preference to someone else? There again, you throw off balance.

I agree, but unfortunately, in the real world, Company B might not be allowed to bid in the first place - or be told that they aren’t qualified after their identity is discovered (I have seen this happen).

The way to get past that is not to give preference to another group. It is to get legislation passed that gives equal treatment to all organizations and to establish qualifications. If the qualifications are are known before the bid, then there is no need to say someone is not qualified unless they truely do not meet the qualifications.

****Excellent point! Don't forget to keep ignoring that minority initiatives are a *thumb* on the scale that balance back some of the advantage that rich white people have! After all, if you do that forever, all businesses would be owned by black people. And we can't have that! We all know that once we start giving these *minorities* a break, we won't be able to stop, until they've destroyed all white people and white businesses!

There's no way we could possibly address these injustices without hurting the *advantages* that white people already have. And that would make black people our *equals*! Screw that!

****Why would we *conservatives* ever agree to this. While it's true that our advantages come from our unequal education opportunities that ensure we would win *most* of the time. If the bids were *blind*, then we couldn't be sure to keep out the minorities! What we want is to do away with any quotas, and pretend like the playing field is level - the way we used to!

It's easier to argue that any *adjustment* to the scales are wrong, while we *permit* the imbalance to go on as it is! Just like you're doing! Yeah, institutional racism! I'm so glad you see how important it is to protect the historical legacy of white advantage!

You're stuck on the "equal" thing again, Robert. Fortunately, this is an area where it is possible to make things more equal.

The pendulum has been quite high for the white-owned and operated construction firms for so long, that it must swing back a little on the high side for the minority-owned and operated construction firms, in order for them to try to catch up. Levelling the playing field, if you will.

This process takes time, but in the end, if we just let the pendulum settle, things will even out.

You have to admit that the large and well-established construction firms are able to undercut the newer firms in terms of bids, because they can afford to take the loss for a really cool job. C'mon...

Yeah, forget about the courageous message of civil rights for all, and peace. Go to work, keep those tax dollars flowing, move along, nothing to see here.

And he had his arms around the Black people as if they were nothing but props. That's how he sees all people. I wondered....who still lets this guy talk?

I only wish today there was someone with the brevity and vision of a man like Dr. King...maybe we'd not be in this handbasket on a one-way trip to destruction.

In the words of Sharon Cox, Blessings, we need them....

    #67 #47, blah blah blah,

You either/or question seems to imply that a country founded on religious freedom (not Christianity) has wealthy individuals who do not consider the poor a burden ….

Can you name such a place? Even France considers the poor the nobles oblige (obligation of the rich), which means they accept them as a burden.

    Comment by Jason M. Hendler — January 15, 2007 @ 2:16 pm

Noblesse Oblige, the correct spelling of the french expression In French, means, literally, "nobility obliges".
"Noblesse oblige" is generally used to imply that with wealth, power, and prestige come social responsibilities.

So, frankly, your reading (and writing) skills in french are even worse than in english, if possible.

Republican Idiot. Well, that's an oxymoron. I'll call you Jason M. Hendler for clarification purposes.

  191. Evil Spaniard Says:

#71 For one, they take from a system that they did not contribute into. And here, the rich can afford the accountants to find them the loopholes so that they don’t contribute just the working middle class. In essence, that is stealing. And from people who are doing without as a result, even though they paid their taxes.

And we’re not talking about a few people. We’re talking about millions.

So, since their employers make huge profits, and the rich don’t pay taxes, it actually takes money out of the system. Especially when they send it back home and don’t spend it here to cycle it through our economy.

    Comment by unbelievable — January 15, 2007 @ 2:24 pm

Sorry, but this time I must disagree with you. For long time the "maquiladoras", the factories stablished by USA corporations in Mexico have been exploiting the extra cheap workers, giving them pennies and making them work for countless hours in horrible working conditions (lots of at work injuries, treating them like cattle...).

More: Central Americans have experienced what is the "spreading of liberty and democracy" from the USA before, see the United Fruit History, full of military interventions of the USA, and crushing of workers unions:

    http://www.unitedfruit.org/chron.htm

Frankly, if illegal immigrants come to the USA to earn more money, I think they deserve it, because their fathers and gradfathers have produced a lot of the wealth now has the USA.

The theory of the "money circling into the system" is very pretty, but the money of the USA comes from the outside, many times through ugly acts of your government. The "american dream" is sustained greatly by the influx of foreing money, not the inside production, and ultimately, this is the reason why so many USA Presidents are war prone. To defend this influx of money. Many times, the USA sucks the money of the countries around it, empoverishing them, and causing the influx of immigrants to the country. They are poor people who follow the money.

Probably this view of the world will clash with the USA commonner's one, but, is what we see from the outside.

But, again, the ones with some power to change things are the legal USA citizens. Don't give a free ride to the uber rich for the sake of some crappy jobs. Slap them with the law, voting against giveaways to cozy ex GOP cronies and corporate welfare. Too much poor people in your country play in the rich team, against their own interests. When protesting against hideous labor conditions become a social stygma, you know that workers are brainwashed.

If the liberals in your country (I don't even dare to use the word leftists, there is too many bad PR campaings weighing in the subconscient of every USA person, thanks to so many years of brainwashing) engage in a battle against the illegal immigrants, the only benefitted would be, again, the uber rich. After the dust settles, they simply can say "hey, you convinced us, we must hire only USA citizens. But our poor multinational corporation wouldn't make it if you don't accept being paid even less than the immigrants. You know, we must do a lot of paperwork with legal workers".
