“A suicide bomber and a car bomb killed at least 65 people and wounded 138 more at entrances to a once-prestigious university in Baghdad. The strike at Mustansiriya University was a dual bomb attack: The suicide bomber detonated a vest at the back entrance of the school, and a parked car exploded at the main gate under a pedestrian bridge where students and employees get public transit.”
My opinion: There is nothing more henious than bombing a school or a university. Its like burning the library of Alexandria. Shame on this world.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:17 pmWhat’s the difference between “a surge”, “an escalation” and “an augmentation” when it comes to Iraq?
For the answer in pictures, see:
January 16th, 2007 at 12:19 pm“Understanding the White House’s Iraq Vocabulary.”
There’s more where that came from.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:21 pmSo, Juan, are you finally coming around to recognizing that the people who conducted this bombing — as well as bombings of open-air markets, employment centers, mosques — are not courageous “freedom-fighters,” but are rather nothing more than cowardly terrorists and assassins?
January 16th, 2007 at 12:24 pmThe Haifa street lockdown is an utter failure. One resident said that of the 80 families that live on the block, maybe two stayed.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:26 pmOne 26 year old woman who went out looking for food was shot in the shoulder by a militia sniper.
This is what the “surge” is going to look like.
There’s another name for it. Ethnic Cleansing, or maybe just plain old genocide.
This is just another story made up by the terrorist-loving liberal media. Things are actually going quite well in Baghdad. Businesses are humming, lovers are picnicking in the parks, the roads gleam with shiny new automobiles, taxes are low, and crime rates are comparable to Branson, MO.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:26 pmare not courageous “freedom-fighters,†but are rather nothing more than cowardly terrorists and assassins?

No more than the US.
“prestigious”? come on.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:37 pmWeak response, Juan. Try again.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:40 pmJuan, the self-righteous Exley wants to judge you today. I hope you’re not game.
January 16th, 2007 at 12:47 pmWouldn’t want some actual thinking to go on in Baghdad. So bomb the University.
Do conservatives like this occurrance deep down?
January 16th, 2007 at 12:48 pmHere’s some food for thought regarding all those bombings going on in Baghdad.
Ask yourself: with all you now know about this corrupt and criminal administration, do you still find it so hard to believe that our government would engage in this sort of behavior?
January 16th, 2007 at 1:28 pmCarnage like this is going to end with 20,000 more troops?
January 16th, 2007 at 1:48 pmOr will carnage like this end with the redeployment of 135,000 troops?
Whether or not our troops remain in place, this will continue because Bush has opened Pandora’s Box in Iraq – he has only changed the teams – the majority will slay the minority, thousands will be caught in the crossfire, and our presence there will simply add to the fatalities.
So, how’s that “surge” working, Exley? Do you like what you see so far? I know, I know, give them time. Sure.
January 16th, 2007 at 2:23 pmBlueDog, You seem confused on several issues. First of all, the surge has not yet been initiated. Two, I have stated in other threads that I am, at best, ambivalent about the surge and question whether it will work or not.
Moreover, I am puzzled as to why you would bring up the issue of the “surge” here when I have not raised it here. What is telling is that while the subject of the thread is the killing of 65 people at a university in Baghdad by terrorists you have not condemned that bombing. Interesting.
January 16th, 2007 at 2:34 pmExley sez:
Is that so?
January 16th, 2007 at 2:40 pmExley: “First of all, the surge has not yet been initiated.”
Do you read the paper, or do you make this stuff up?
January 16th, 2007 at 2:57 pmMan thats bad news poor iraqis
The good news is 4 Americans got it YEEE HAAA
January 16th, 2007 at 3:15 pmIsn’t that funny. And Bush dreams of plunging Iran into a similar nightmare. I think its suicide volunteering to join the escalation at a time like this, since we all knew this was all about Iran. Iranians won’t let one mad weed head ruin them like he’d the Iraqis. This is where it all differs. Our boys are going for the money. Bush is doing if for Israel and more oil. And the Iranians will be fighting, tooth and nail, ALL OF THEM; for their lives!

Dude, nice article and all, but Baghdad is not in Afghanistan. Stay on track here.
January 16th, 2007 at 4:31 pm#16 TripMaster….Hmmmm…Whadda ya know? Missed that article. I withdraw my incorrect statement.
January 16th, 2007 at 4:50 pm“Do conservatives like this occurrance deep down?”
No, we don’t like seeing these bombings, but we also don’t like what you liberals have to offer which is NOTHING!

You must get awfully tired doing all that cutting and pasting. What are you really, a trust-fund baby? ‘Cause we all work, yet you can be found posting here under any one of, what? thirty names, not counting the ones you steal, any time day or night. For what? Do you think this is going to drive us away? I’ve been here for over three years, and have seen many trolls come and go. I’ll still be here, after you’ve decided on some more important target, and so will the others. We have the patience to wait you out. We waited for six years to resume control, and we’ve got a mission to restore this country to the America we once knew and still love.
And I’m still Barfly.
