FISA court judge wants NSA order shared with Congress.

As TPMmuckraker notes, the Bush administration “has refused to release any part of the order issued yesterday by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court authorizing NSA surveillance within the United States, saying doing so would risk exposing operational details.” But in a letter to Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Arlen Specter (R-PA), the presiding judge notes that she has “no objection” to the material being made available to Congress; it is the Attorney General who refuses to share it.

it is the Attorney General who refuses to share it.

His loyalty to the Shrub over We The People requires his name be added to the list of those not fit for public office.

In my understanding, the Attorney General of the United States is charged with being the top Law Enforcement Officer of the United States.

..i.e., a prosecutor who might go after organised crime, corporate fraud, oil companies who won’t pay royalties for drilling offshore and on public lands, etc….

The current AG is nothing more than a crooked cabal’s personal defense attorney…

  6. Jay Randal says:

Gonzales was put into the AG position to protect Pres. Bush, not to uphold any laws nor to defend the Constitution.

Well, Little Alberto also said the other day that judges shouldn’t be reviewing cases involving national security because they don’t know anything about it.

In his case, he shouldn’t be the Attorney General because he apparently doesn’t know anything about the Constitution.

I think Dick the Prick likes to keep him around, though, because he routinely stops by his “undisclosed location” and entertains him –> http://thumbsnap.com/v/pMPqjqXK.jpg

  14. veritas says:

IMPEACH ALL OF THESE FRAUDS AND UNPATRIOTIC BUFFOONS!
Sure, Gonzalez doesn’t want the names of those spied upon to be released because it will become another “watergate” where political opponents were wiretapped to the advantage of the Republican party. Let the FISA reports roll and, when they do, the truth will be out – that this wiretapping had little to do with concern about terrorists (otherwise, why didn’t they listen to the threats before 9/11????) but has absolutely EVERYTHING to do with spying on innocent americans who posit against the excesses of this administration as well as their political foes.

Wow! This is going to really blow up in Bush’s face! Let the “outings” begin and then let’s get to what really needs to be done….full and unequivocal impeachment of Gonzales, Rice, Cheney and Bush. They have never epitomized the american moral character and, now that they’re running for cover, epitomize it less and less with each passing day.

Soon they’ll be too embarrassed to even come to work!

  15. veritas says:

P.S. Where did Alberto “DoLittle” Gonzalez get his law degree?? Mail order per chance? He has to be the most ill-informed (when it suits him of course), ignorant, illiterate attorney in this country. It’s a cinch why Bushco would snap him up as Attorney General….surrounding himself with “yes men”, bigots, and people who “owe him” political favors….never anything to do with qualifications…..never.

  16. veritas says:

Evidently, Alberto DoLittle never had the required course in CONSTITUTIONAL LAW in whatever second-rate law school he attended….or perhaps like his bud, Dubya, he was AWOL for most of his education.

  17. veritas says:

Once Gonzo gets the heave, then Cheney will purjure himself in Scoot’s case…and will be down the chute as well….which leaves CondiCandi who has become Little Laura’s nemesis and will be shoved aside so soon Bush’s prophesy will be brought to fruition: Only Laura and Barney will be by his side. All the rest have jumped or are jumping the rapidly sinking USS Titanic.

Any government appointee whether elected or appointed can be impeached by congress. Historically more federal judges have been impeached than any other office holder and every one of them were appointed.

Actually there is an attorney named David S. Addington that is completely delusional and the largest enemy within!!!!!!!

    Here’s a link:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Addington

And a quote from the link:

Addington has consistently advocated that under the Constitution, the president has unlimited powers as commander in chief during wartime.

    more from the link:

For instance, he helped to shape an August 2002 opinion from the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel that said torture might be justified in some cases.

This is man an EVIL ENEMY OF THIS [once] GLORIOUS COUNTRY!!!!

    Mr. Addington,

For what reason did you do this a$$wipe? To prove a point? You helped drive this country into the ground!!! Are you PNAC???

You are useless to this country and you need to stand trial!!!

May you suffer greatly in the future for what your bile and spittle have heaved upon this country!!!

    http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/01/18/sen-leahy-slams-gonzalez-over-torture/

CNN’s Blitzer: Democratic leaders in the new congress have plenty of bones to pick with the bush administration.

Kelli Arena: Democrats pounced on several of the administration’s anti-terror policies including domestic wiretapping, the detention of terror suspects in guantanamo bay.

The way Blitzer and Arena framed the exchange between Leahy and Gonzalez is downright twisted. Both Blitzer and Arena made it sound as if Leahy was out to pick a fight in a bar instead of getting to the truth of the unconstitutional systems the Bush administration has created.

Comment by troll alert slayer puh! in your face — January 19, 2007 @ 5:34 am

Is this sentence even supposed to be in English? I recognize some of the words as being from my own native language, but they are used so strangely and incorrectly, that I have no idea what the poster is trying to say here. One thing IS clear: this poster is no “great debater”.

  37. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    RUCerious,

    Wayne is right.

Artivcle VI, Clause 3: The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Gonzalez, like all cabinet officers, is impeachable and removable from office. And considering the horrendous and unconstitutional legal advice that he has given Bush, I think it’s fair to say that he violated his oath of office. The idea that the president should be allowed to have whoever he wants in his cabinet has been proven null and void by this president’s appointments. Virtually to a person, evey single person he has appointed to some government job has been working to subvert the clear meaning and plain intent of the constitution, especially Alberto “VO5″ Gonzalez (and his predecessor, John Ashcrofthole.)
