The problem is not with Fox, though Fox is a problem; the problem is corporate media, but corporations are not the problem. As suggested above Fox is not really news, nor is CNN, lets stick to these two for now. Corporate media has turned news business into entertainment business (and it was never supposed to be a business to begin with, rather its a public service), as such it is not beholden to journalistic ethos and integrity. Fox is an extreme example of prostituting the fourth check in the American government, the free press. It should not matter which side of the political spectrum you are on when you decide to watch the news. Certain events and actions reported might be directly influenced by politics, but the reporting of news itself should be apolitical. Any opinion a journalist may give, should they care to give one, should be subtitled as commentary or better still, prefixed with the phrase: “in this reporter’s opinion”.
But the blame is not entirely with news anchors and journalists who have sold out. There are still good journalists at CNN as I am sure that there are some at FOX. Maybe they are just as disgusted about their complicity in slander, either direct or through inaction. Perhaps they rescind to the face of the new media The problem is that there is demand for the smut that these networks peddle. Al Franken maybe an ass, but he is right to equate this kind of reporting as political pornography. We have to ask ourselves why millions of people keep tuning it to watch the Entertainment Tonight version of the news. Can we blame corporate media on delivering what the public wants or appears to want. Absolutely. Journalism in any context, global or local; independent or corporate has a special role in this country. Freedom of the press grants protection as well as endowing the press with great responsibility. It is disgraceful to see what is happening to news media. The dying out of investigative journalism. A world where sensationalism and ratings rule. There are countries where the press is censored or under tight control of the governing party and when we see it we cry out about how undemocratic they are, how civil liberties do not exist there. Yet we allow for even worse transgressions to occur on our own soil. The freedom of press clause of the first Amendment is defiled, not only when courts refuse to respect the journalist shield laws, but when the public allows pseudo journalists go unchallenged. It not about bias its about accountability and integrity. For shame.

If a candidate has demonstrated at lower levels of leadershp that he/she is able to produce the results we seek as a people then we should back them up with our votes…regardless of their religion.
Freedom of religion still exists in America right? Does the presidency require a specific religious denomination of its candidates? It’s hard to tell.

Look at the actual work history of the candidates to determe what the interests are..then decide.

I won’t vote for the man, he has too close of ties to islam to trust him. I have lived under an islamic rule and have been forced to embrace islamic doctrine for too long to think that anyone this close to islam can be a trust worthy leader of a democracy. You all are being naive. I suggest you visit the political section of islamic forums like http://www.ummah.net/ and http://www.bismikaallahuma.org/ and find out why the muslims are so supportive of Barack Obama and what they hope to obtain by having him in power. Read the koran and hadiths of islam. The more you know the less likely you are to say the comments you have all posted. Remember, unless you have lived the life of a muslim, your better off to stop pretending it is compatable with your own way of life.
