I heard this moron Friedman on the show. He spent his whole time dusting off his own turd and trying to explain how he's been right all along on Iraq. A more insufferable twit I never heard.

For the life of me, I can't imagine why anyone named Friedman, ostensibly a journalist, proven liar and incompetent observer of foreign affairs, would be given the opportunity by msm to support the invasion of Iraq, and disparage the opposition, can you?

Hmmm, this will really take some time to unravel........Wait.

You don't suppose he will also support the illegal invasion of Iran too?

Wow, like I had ESP or something.....

"When will anyone challenge the Friedman and the neocon crowd over their Orwellian claim that you can “bring Democracy” to a foreign country by invading and occupying it, and killing, maiming and displacing hundreds of thousands of its inhabitants.

******At the risk of repitition, Mun, can YOU spell J-A-P-A-N? Next question, can you spell G-E-R-M-A-N-Y? And with that, I am obliged to tell you, you flunked H-I-S-T-O-R-Y.

The only thing Fried-man is concerned about is that he isn't going to be able to give those speeches he gives for $10-25 grand a pop. Fried-man couldn't give a crap about anything else. Don't forget he's got to pay for those private college education for his kids and all. Somebody really needs to tell him that his kids can get their education paid for if they just sign up for a little service in that little country in the middle east. It'd actually be an action packed adventure really. A real life video game. They could get killed and all but hey, there's a risk to everything isn't there Tommyboy?

This is a blatant lie. Friedman is playing George Bush's game. He can't name one liberal who said Arabs are incapable of democratic rule.

Nor can he make a good case for creating democracy at the barrel of a gun.

What's most disturbing is that Freidman seems to think that Americans are incapable of democracy! The last election must be ignored - the 70% of the country that disagrees with him must be disparaged & disenfranchised.

I really do wish I lived in a country that was 70% liberal. But - unlike Freidman - I must live in reality as it is - not as I wish it were.

It's not that liberals think people in the Middle East are incapable of democracy. It's just that so far, these folks have shown they are incapable of democracy when their country is overrun by a foreign military occupying force that is blasting their homeland to smithereens. I'm glad I decided not to subscribe to TimesSelect, so I don't read Friedman anymore. Go away, Tom! Most of the country does not buy your Bushloving spin anymore!

You can't defend Bush's lies about WMD by arguing that we liberals didn't KNOW that Hussein didn't have them. Most of us never claimed we did know for sure one way or the other. But Bush guaranteed that Hussein had them - it was supposedly bulletproof. The key point about Bush's lie was that he took his assertion outside the realm of probability, by assigning it a probablity of 1. Its a matter of comparing what Bush actually knew with what he falsely said he knew.

And on the basis of that lie, he got 3000 Americans and probably hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed.

Weapons inspectors, who did NOT have free rein to move about Iraq, SWEAR that the honest, above-board and forthright Saddam Hussein destroyed all Iraq’s WMD’s. Why, that’s good enough for me……..
Comment by mighty aphrodite — January 20, 2007 @ 11:44 pm

Ah, more blathering from Mitey Coprolite.

That the weapons inspectors, prior to the invasion in 2003, were restricted in their movements across Iraq is a myth that has debunked many times over. Read this, from February 2003:

Along those lines, in February alone the U.N. inspectors have paid at least a half-dozen surprise visits to installations making guidance-and-control systems. They’re also inspecting sites where unmanned aircraft are developed.
UN Finds No Long-Range Iraqi Missiles

Or this from Hans Blix himself:

BLIX: Well, we aren’t going to tell anybody, and least of all media, where we’re going in the next few days. But we will certainly — surprise visits are everywhere, yes. We are not giving notice in advance. But the inspectors go to where they want to go, and when they arrive at the place, they tell them, “This is where we want to inspect.”
Blix: ‘There is a very strong power behind us’

And it's really funny you keep trying to discredit the inspections -as if they didn't work- when we all know that Hussein's WMD were not found because they simply didn't exist.

And for the moronic, NOT Impressed

What were you saying earlier about ad hominem attacks showing you have no point?

Blix: ‘There is a very strong power behind us’

And it’s really funny you keep trying to discredit the inspections -as if they didn’t work- when we all know that Hussein’s WMD were not found because they simply didn’t exist.

And for the moronic, NOT Impressed

Friedman is a hopeless fool.

Bush's failure to produce any WMD at all after guaranteeing as a slam dunk that Hussein had them is one of the most egregious crimes that has ever been perpetrated aginst our democracy. There are a lot of reasons to impeach Bush, but Bush should be impeached for the WMD hoax above all. Friedman simply doesn't have the concept of accountability.

Arabs incapable of democracy? I worry more about American pundits.

Aphrodite:

When are you planning on signing up to do your patriotic duty and go to Iraq?

Or are you not really a patriot, but instead a hypocrite?

Dear Outraged, Randy, assorted and various Progs - You would be good for a chuckle if your inclination to believe EVERYTHING bad about GWB (and empathize with our poor, misunderstood, and beleaguered enemies) was not so pathetic. (I'm sure YOU understood pre-WWII Japan's outrage at the US oil embargo and need to attack Pearl Harbor.) Weapons inspectors, who did NOT have free rein to move about Iraq, SWEAR that the honest, above-board and forthright Saddam Hussein destroyed all Iraq's WMD's. Why, that's good enough for me........

And for the moronic, NOT Impressed - when you BUY oil at an agreed to price - it is not S-T-E-A-L-I-N-G. Please tell me mom and dad did not spend their life savings on YOUR education. It was a waste of money and they deserve a refund......

Narcissistic and immature, and intellectually dishonest. Can't get over how wrong he was so throws a tantrum and blames the people who said from the beginning that invading Iraq was a very, very bad idea. You just have to think a little about human nature to realize that. Has nothing to do with Arabs' ability to live in a democracy. Has to do with the fact that Bush is there to steal, and while busy setting up his stealing arrangements, he managed to kill, maim, torture, humiliate, and ruin the lives of many hundreds of thousands of people. Who wouldn't join an insurgency under those conditions?

mighty a---Pumped tonight, are we? You've got lots of big talk on this list, but no facts. I'm sure they'll appreciate your hot air in Baghdad. Still support Bush and his War? GO FIGHT IT. Our beleagured troops will be glad when you get there to take their place.

All talk about the postwar lies about WMD ignores an important point. Scott Ritter (former Marine, Republican, and former UN Inspector) and other top US officials said there were no WMD in Iraq in summer 2002. They were ignored. Iraq allowed UN teams into the country (Nov. 2002-March 19, 2003) and they found NOTHING. Bush kicked out the UN Inspectors on 3/19/03 and attacked Baghdad with overwhelming force.

mighty a--remember the excitement and thrill of "Shock 'n Awe?" Bush led us straight over a cliff. Who would ever believe him again--except for you?
