Frighteningly enough, Reilly actually held up fairly well and was amusing in his own right. Makes you wonder where that halfway decent person goes during the other 99% of the time.
Colbert did get in his digs though. Always does. The 30% off and the Sexual Predator comments were great.
“Then what am I?” was great too.
Great part in the Faux show was actually hearing the staff crack up. Bears. Godless killing machines. LOL.
#1 – SilverWolf – I disagree – while O’Reilly maintained composure, it was pretty clear the that Colbert drove the show – at least on his turf – when Colbert was on FNC with O’Reilly, he was a bit more subdued, but not much.
If you watch O’Reilly often enough (don’t ask me why I bother) – his body language with Colbert definitely indicated that he wasn’t entirely confortable – whereas, Colbert looked totally at ease.
But – conservatives just don’t seem to have a sense of humor.
#4 – Unfortunately? I used to watch a few bits and pieces of O’Reilly now and then just to satisfy my curiosity, but I got too disgusted and haven’t seen his show in more than a year.
Looking back at the vids, I see what you mean about his body language, I missed that when I watched them at first.
I have to agree, MrTimPA…Bill-O attempted to preempt Colbert a few times by being even sillier than Colbert…the problem is, he’s not clever enough to pull it off.
Colbert made him look like an utter and complete fool, both times.
SilverWolf – null: Yup – Bill’O just doesn’t get that he was being skewered – gently of course. This morning the F&F bozos had BO on (via phone) and they (F&F) fawned all over his “performance” – what a joke..:)
null: Like I said, conservatives just don’t have a sense of humor…:)
I have come to the conclusion that successful humor requires humility. Colbert has it in spades, otherwise, how could he make fun of himself? Many self-proclaimed conservative “humorists” lack it and their bombast only serves to obscure their pathetic attempts at humor, not enhance it.
thanks for posting this! … i missed the fox version and realized that it was just as well and would see it on these internets soon enough…
colbert ran the show… very weak, silly questions from ollielly…
the “going after the younger” 50s, 60s crowd was a crack up…
I have GOT to get my hands on a copy of that picture that Colbert held up in O’Reilly’s face at the end of the Colbert Report, (the “San Francisco secular progressive” pic).
Such a good episode. I love how O’Reilly at one point did that incredulous, quit being so sarcastic put down thing he does and Colbert just kept on doin’ what he was doing.
#10, Toon Guy,
You hit it.
Humility is a word O’Lielly or Bush are unfamiliar with.
I thought the WH Press Corps would ask Dennis Miller to be the stand up this year. (Rich Little?!)
When it comes to a lack of humility, Miller fits right in with the two above.
Another nugget from Colbert on O’Lielly’s was the fact Jon Stewart was rated above Bill-O as a TV star / personality.
Of course, Jon Stewart produces Colbert.

If Colbert didn’t stab o’liely through the jugular with a ballpoint pen I don’t want to see it.
January 19th, 2007 at 8:53 amI LMAO all the way through it.
You could hear O’Lielly’s staff laughing off camera, as well.
I also realize this doesn’t mean anything, but c’mon, folks, laughter really is the best medicine at times.

Have a nice day..!
January 19th, 2007 at 9:22 amIt seemed like both shows were being run by Colbert…he just did his show over at Fox and at his usual time and place.
January 19th, 2007 at 9:26 amMust see TV?
I don’t friggin’ think so.
