CNN Debunks False Obama ‘Madrassa’ Smear

Last week, Fox News and other Rupert Murdoch outlets amplified a right-wing report alleging that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) attended an Islamic “madrassa” school as a 6-year-old child. One Fox News caller questioned whether Obama’s schooling means that “maybe he doesn’t consider terrorists the enemy.” Fox anchor Brian Kilmeade responded, “Well, we’ll see about that.”

Commenting on this report today, Wolf Blitzer said that CNN had done “what any serious news organization is supposed to do in this kind of a situation”: actually investigate and learn the facts. CNN’s Senior International Correspondent John Vause filed a report from Indonesia. Watch it:

[flv http://video.thinkprogress.org/2007/01/madrassa.320.240.flv]

In the report, Vause says, “I’ve been to those madrassas in Pakistan … this school is nothing like that.” He also interviews a classmate of Obama’s who says the school was not even strictly Muslim; it also taught Christian, Buddhist, and Confucian students.

Commenting on this report today, "Wolf Blitzer said that CNN had done “what any serious news organization is supposed to do in this kind of a situation”: actually investigate and learn the facts."

This is a good sign. This is the only real way to stop swiftboating -- reveal the facts immediately.

  2. Zooey Says:

CNN actually investigated a story? They didn't sit back and say things like, "What does it mean to America if Barack Obama attended a Madrassa School?"

    Wow. About time...

Let's put this smear to bed.

  3. red state liberal Says:

If CNN is a "serious news organization", why do they continue to employ the likes of Beck?

Still, glad to see the story publicly debunked.

  4. Krazny Says:

Fox News not only didn't do this, they apparently didn't make even a token effort to do this.

    'Nuff said.

  6. Spudge_Boy Says:

Cool, the gang used my "hot tip" I feel special.

I am glad that CNN did this. It is about time that the news organizations in the MSM started reporting on the truth instead of spin. Let's hope the trend continues.

  7. orange roughy Says:

    Let me see now.

Two weeks ago CNN was accused of smearing Obama and was heavily chastised here at TP.

Two weeks later TP has nothing but glowing revies about CNN.

I can clearly see the double standard here.
And the credibility quotient of TP is astounding.

    As in... IN THE CRAPPER.

I have said this many times on TP.
It is all form and zero substance here at TP.

  8. smafdy Says:

Yesterday, a right wing, racist acquaintence of mine tried to parrot both the "Hussein" and the "madrassa" slanders against Barack Obama (using the madrassa claim only after the disingeniousness of the Hussein ploy was exposed). I trashed his sorry ass.

  9. Jay Severin has a small pen1s Says:

Funny how the source (The right wing cult that is the Moonies) wasn't enough of a Red Flag. Also having FOX report that it came from Hilary Rodham Clinton made it more appealing. 'Reporting' these days is almost amazing.

  10. Mark Says:

Why n earth would Fox News or other right wing organizations care about what really happend or what the school is really lie? It will only interfere with their message.

  11. Marie Says:

While I am no fan of Blitzer, I will give him credit for this one. This is the work of a journalist -- investigate and report. Something anathema to Fox.

As for CNN's employing Beck -- that is pandering to the least common denominator at its worst. Beck is disgusting, and a representative of the same sort of irresponsible broadcasting that we see on Fox -- but because his show isn't called "news" - it only appears on a 24/7 NEWS channel ! - I suppose they believe that gives them license to smear and slander.

  12. Bluedog49 Says:

Orange roughy, I can see you're having a little trouble with this. Let me walk you throught it: 2 weeks ago TP criticized CNN for something bad. Today, TP is praising CNN for something good. See how it works? Bad - criticize; Good - praise.

  13. Jake Says:

But all this doesn't matter. You know how it works, the claim is made loudly, the retraction is made silently. Unless, the retraction in this case is made much more loudly than the claim, it will be a typical Republican/Democrat debate that gets nowhere. (eg: any debate involving Clinton.)

  14. Spudge_Boy Says:

Two weeks later TP has nothing but glowing revies about CNN.

Can you point to which adjective or adverb is "glowing"?

The point is: It is about friggin' time the truth was reported by the MSM.

There is nothing glowing about it.

How is it that you have said this many times on TP, when we have never seen your name before?

  15. Spudge_Boy Says:

You know how it works, the claim is made loudly, the retraction is made silently.

The front page of the CNN web site and being mentioned on Wolfies show isn't that silent. It is medium level. : )

    Glad you noticed, Mara. Thanks!

  19. Anonymous By Choice Says:

When did CNN become a serious news organization? I must have missed that... I'm still missing it.

While I'm glad they're debunking the lies, I still wish that the fact that someone had a muslim education wasn't ammo for smear.

    Americans are friggin stupid.

As of right now, when I want the closest thing to the truth from the MSM, I watch MSNBC. When I feel like being lied to, I watch Fox. CNN lies somewhere in between them.

  24. ben Says:

    roughy -

OMG you mean TP was upset about an inaccurate story and pleased with an accurate story. That makes you upset. That sounds like the definition of credibility.

Your definition of credibility is to support a news outlet even if they are wrong all the time. It sounds like you're losing credibility by the second.

  25. veritas Says:

Gee...how the worm turns when the people revolt agains the corporate corrupt mainstream media, isn't it? The problem is that CNN and certainly FAUX News has been spinning the truth for years. The people are sick and tired of being spun around by slobbering sycophantic media whores!

  26. ChildrenofLir Says:

Fox can't play the race card to attack Obama, so they play the next best, the Muslim card.

But it won't be long before they have to play the race card. And they'll try to finesse it along the affirmative action lines. Try to show he's discriminatory against whites. Just wait.

I don't care much for Obama. He doesn't stand for anything. He's like Clinton. Spends precious minutes on air saying things like "... I plan to talk with lots of people..." oh sorry, Hilary said that today.

In fact I havent' heard Obama say anything.

  27. Uncle_Ho Says:

Does this mean MSM is finally waking up and bitch-slapping swiftboaters? One can only hope so.

  28. VerbalKint Says:

I can clearly see the double standard here.

    Comment by orange roughy — January 22, 2007 @ 6:33 pm

A bizarrely illogical misapplication of the concept of a double standard. How can a double standard be applied to a single entity, in this case CNN?

    Pathetic.

  30. Tom the Barbarian Says:

Fox News showed a terrible lapse of journalistic standards with the Obama "madrassa" story. If FOX wants to be taken seriously they will have to start producing forged documents to back up their stories. Hey, it worked for Dan Rather!

  31. ChildrenofLir Says:

Kasalari says As of right now, when I want the closest thing to the truth from the MSM, I watch MSNBC.

There's many sources closer to the truth than MSNBC. Try alternative media on the radio or internet if you want the truth.

In fact, it isn't their lack of closeness to the truth on the stories they choose to report about that's the problem. It's all the stories they leave out and fail to report on that is the biggest problem.

MSNBC is no better than CNN. And both are only a bit worse than FOX.
THey are all in competition for most failed news source. They have all failed the American people to the point of criminality.

  32. Xbot Says:

#26: Actually, his primary interest seems to be with socioeconomic issues. He's released a lot of statements about supporting hte poor and underpriveleged. Additionally, he's a self-made man. He didn't use daddy's money to propel himself to where he is. He started out middle class, and worked to improve his life.

I'm very pleased that Obama appears to be on the ballot on my first time voting. Obama as the president of my generation will hopefully be a good one-month-late 18th birthday present.

Needless to say, but I'll spell it out regardless - Obama has my vote and confidence. His name and his race mean nothing, his background does.

And while I'm an atheist, I don't expect any atheist presidents to step up anytime soon, so Obama is the next best thing. I'll wait a few years before I start adding 'Religion' as a presidential consideration.

Vote Obama '08. If only to provide this aspiring collegiate a good birthday gift.

  33. ChildrenofLir Says:

    Xbot
The problem is Obama, like Clinton, doesn't speak specifically and concretely on the issues regarding what he plans to do about anything. It's all vague statements trying to sound reasonable and good without offending anyone.

    That's what we need.

We need people willing to take a stand on very serious issues. Not waffling positions that say nothing.

It's great to be for poor people. But what does that mean concretely. What will he DO. The Democrats can't think they can get away with saying nothing except platitudes. It's too late for that. There's too many very serious problems.

John Edwards has been more concrete and specific than Obama.

Are you having trouble with praising someone for doing right, and criticizing the same person for doing wrong? Do you simply assume that the person is always to be praised or always to be criticized no matter what? Do you pay a lot of attention to O'?Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh et al. and you mistakenly believe that is the correct way to judge what people say and do?

Many years ago came across a study showing that as one moves left to right on the political scale there is a corresponding drop in IQ. I think orange-roughy is a good example of this. Notice how often when one of these right-wing visitors drops off a few observations they seem to show a spectacular inability use reason or logic.

  44. PatrioticLiberalChristian(PLC) Says:

The '08 Presidential Campaign is going to be a nightmare for the Republican smear machines. With nine Democrats and nine Republicans with their hats in the ring already, those machines are going to have to work non-stop. That leaves a lot of room for errors and opportunity to be caught red handed in smearing.

The greatest part of me is happy to see so many Democrats running, giving at least a chance of spirited debate and informed choice to voters. However, a small part of me would like to see a backroom deal among all these Democrats to form themselves into a campaign of President, Vice President, and complete cabinet as a united barrage against the fractured Republicans.

  45. canadianvisitor Says:

Hasn't there been more of a campaign with Fox talking about one news item - Osama bin laden and showing Obama's picture on the screen? And I think I also read somewhere they were also talking of a sex predator and they showed Obama's image as well.
This item is only the first I am sure that many will have to debunk.

And for those claiming he hasn't said much.... has he declared yet that he is actually running? I don't think so, so how can you expect what he will do when he hasn't declared yet?

Does Obama have any less global or intellectual knowledge of world affairs than George Bush had when he entered office or in effect, has now?

I don't think Bush had been out of the country until he became President. He also didn't even know some of the other countries' leaders. I know he didn't know my Prime Minister's name at the time. So how can anyone claim he is too inexperienced in world affairs to be President knowing who is in office now?

You need to understand a little of American History. It makes little difference if Fox juxtapositions Osama and Obama in the minds of Americans. The true Americans understand the level to which Fox news and the Neocons will grovel and the Red Necks (an American Idiom meaning those with big hats and no cattle, or big buns and little weenies, or big trucks but no brakes) (If you guys try you can probably do better!)can't tell them apart.

It's not about what "makes perfect sense" -it's about what it is. And it is not a "radical Islamic Madrassa that teaches Wahabbism", it's a public secular school. Plus Obama is a Christian.

Insight Magazine's so-called scoop is nonsense, has been debunked, and you have no leg to stand on. FoxNews' parroting of the story, without bothering to do a minimal research, was deeply irresponsible.

Finally, there is nothing wrong with Islamic teachings. Or they are as wrong as the Chistian, Jewish, Buddhist teachings. Take your pick.

His middle name is "Hussein"!? The horror! Did you really expect a newborn to pick his middle name? Just so you know: He was named after his father, who was also called "Hussein".

Your ethymology of the names "Barack" and "Obama" are doubtful -where did you get your degree in Arabic studies? Finally, no matter how much you bloviate, Sen Obama's ancestry is African: His late father was from Kenya -which is, you know, in Africa.

The Democrats are IDIOTS, because the people pushing for Hillary and Obama are Republicans!

The last 3 Democratic presidents were southern white men, for those of us who recognized the pattern.

Many Hillary and Obama voters in the Democratic primaries will be Republicans to ensure that Edwards loses and cannot run in the general!

They know both the out front and the under cover racists, will never vote for a woman or a black, ensuring a Republican victory, because if this were not true, Harold Ford would be senator, and there would be no need for affirmative action!

If the Democrats were not idiots, they would all meet in a back room and agree on Edwards as the 2008 presidential candidate and Feingold/Kucinich/Biden/Byah/Richardson as the vice president candidate and have all the other Democrats drop out the race.

Now instead of wasting their war chests fighting each other in the primaries and giving ammunition to the Republicans for the general election, they could start hitting the Republicans early and hard with the attack ads.

I how I wish Hillary and Obama's could put aside their own egos and do what is best for the country, and that is getting a Democratic president to go with the Democratic Congress, to fix the MESS left after 8 years of Bush!

As it turns out it was bad reporting, CNN was bold enough to admit it's mistake. The TP folks acknowledge what has transpired, medialogically, and hold no grudges against CNN. In fact they are more likely to watch CNN because of their correction. FOX news has yet to learn that the fairness in media is not an excuse to yell fire every time the theater grows dark.

    3) Many, if not most, of the girls are not wearing headscarfs (jilbabs).

    4) Few if any of the boys are wearing islamic skull caps or the loosely flowing tunic

    5) The kids are in standard public school uniforms

    6) At the time that Barrack was in Indonesia extremist madrassas were not only forbidden, but extremist Muslims were strongly suppressed.

I find it interesting that the folks who seem to behind this slander ~ and attacking Obama's beliefs because of his family and given names~ are associated with Cults of Personality themselves (on the one hand the Moonie followers of a man who asserts he is Jesus incarnate on the Earth; and on the other a man whose father was born in a polygynous Mormon colonia in Mexico).

Even worse they said Barack HUSSEIN Osama....err Obama only pretends to be a Christian to cover for the FACT that he belongs to a "terrorist sleeper cell".

I wrote this person back telling him that in 1967, there was no Islamic extremism in Indonesia other than rebel groups our CIA may have been supporting in a coup to get rid of the leftist, secularist President Sukarno, who was replaced by General Suharto, the "friend" of the U.S.

I checked out a wikipedia article today about Senator Barack Obama. It does not say anything about him being a Muslim. In fact, it states that he attends Trinity United Church of Christ.

FOX News is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the right-wing anyway.

  94. Ralph Says:

    Bluedog49, you rock.

(Troll Who Must Not Be Named), I can see you’re having a little trouble with this. Let me walk you through it: 2 weeks ago TP criticized CNN for something bad. Today, TP is praising CNN for something good. See how it works? Bad - criticize; Good - praise.

Even morons and Neocons understand that! Although they will call the New York Times a left-wing rag when it criticizes them, yet they are but mad north-north-west; when the wind is southerly, they know a hawk from a handsaw... and therefore will quote the Times when it agrees with them.

On the other hand, Neocons always lie, so they are consistent! You can set your watch by it: if the Bush regime claims that something is UP, you can be sure it is actually DOWN. And if they swear the thing is DOWN, run and place your bets quickly, because you have an ironclad guarantee that in reality it is UP.

  95. Brandon Harris Says:

Grant, the CIA has supported rebel groups in many different countries as it saw fit. The rebels in Indonesia in 1967 was a perfect example. The CIA also supported the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan during the 1980's.

I will also say this, I bet the CIA was responsible for 9/11 because how could anyone go into an international airport with weapons on their person and then, get on an airplane? Any other time you would have been searched and your take on bags would have been checked.

The CIA is the biggest bunch of terrorists in the world. The CIA murdered President Patrice Lumumba of the Congo in 1961 and then murdered Che Guevara in 1967.

  96. Brandon Harris Says:

Eric, you neocons are so ignorant. We do not need another neocon in the White House. We need someone who will lead this country forward and take care of its people.

We need someone who will not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations. The U.S. needs to leave Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Sudan and Venezuela alone. The U.S. needs to stop sending billions of dollars in military aid to Colombia and to stop supporting Israel.

What the U.S. needs to do is use the money that is spent on imperialism to be used for education, housing, jobs, food and healthcare. The money needs to be used to help the Katrina victims get back on their feet. The U.S. needs to talk directly to North Korea and restore all diplomatic relations with Cuba.

Mitt Romney will do none of this. I think he would be worse than Bush.

McCain Says Major Financiers Will Back His 2008 Bid
    December 15, 2006

One of the most prominent on the list of finance committee co-chairmen is the head of the New York Stock Exchange, John Thain. Mr. Thain, whose title is CEO of NYSE Group, Inc., previously served as president and CEO of Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

A New Jersey-based investment banker deeply involved in fund-raising efforts for the 2004 Republican convention, Lewis Eisenberg, is signing on with Mr. McCain. Mr. Eisenberg is a former Goldman Sachs partner who served as chairman of the Port Authority board at the time of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

    WHAT A COINCIDENCE!

It was Eisenberg who passed the $15 billion Asbestos Liability represented by the Twin Towers onto Larry Silverstein, the man who confessed publicly to having Building 7 "PULLED" by explosives (despite the fact that no plane struck it) - and cashed-in on the insurance settlement.

reports in the UK say the leak was from the Clintons

let me tell you about hilary Clinton

Meanwhile, as AIPAC and Israel pressure the U.S. government to force the Iran issue to the UN Security Council, Israel itself stands in violation of numerous UN resolutions dealing with the occupied territories of Palestine, including UN Resolution 1402, which in part calls on Israel to withdraw its military from all Palestinian cities at once.

AIPAC's hypocrisy is nauseating. The Goliath lobbying organization wants Iran to cease to procure nukes while the crimes of Israel continue to be ignored. So who is propping up AIPAC's hypocritical position? None other than Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York.
As one of the top Democratic recipients of pro-Israel funds for the 2006 election cycle, pocketing over $83,000, Clinton now has Iran in her cross hairs.

Wolf Blitzer said that CNN had done “what any serious news organization is supposed to do in this kind of a situation”: actually investigate and learn the facts.”

And then, of course, they put Glenn Beck on the air to continue peddling stupid lies. Because that's what "serious" news organizations do -- they find out the truth, and then figure out which audience demographic it is profitable to tell it to.

  110. OCPatriot Says:

  114. cynical ex-hippie Says:

Olberman cleverly pointed out that a madrassa is a graduate college, and people attend after getting a 4 year college degree. The right wing nutjobs seem to think Obama was in graduate school at age 6. Could Barak Obama be the next Doogie Howser? And what would it mean to America? What will he type in his computer journal at the end of each show?

  115. Chad Says:

I'm a freelance reporter based in Jakarta, and I gotta say this equating a Madrassa school with terrorism really makes my blood boil.

Even the caption under the video on this blog, which picks out the part of the report where a classmate "says the school wasn't even strictly Muslim" is upsetting - as though if it WERE strictly Muslim that would make Obama more suspect. The caller on FOX who wonders if Obama might think terrorists are not the enemy is clearly ignorant. That's troubling, but at least that person will probably never get a job in journalism.

And characterizing the headmaster as "bristling at the thought" of his school being labeled a Madrassa - though I can imagine he'd be peeved that FOX would get the facts wrong, I don't see him shivering with contempt at the word "Madrassa". They are respected as an education option here.

Say it with me, folks: a Madrassa is not a terrorism school. Nor is it a radical Islamic school.

What I hear in the CNN report is that they're buying in to the idea that Madrassa are hate camps. I see the comments on the blog going right along for the ride. Why is the allegation that he might have been exposed to Muslim ideas considered to be slander?

The CNN reporter even describes Madrassa as violence and hate breeding centers, though he qualifies it by saying "like the ones in Pakistan and Afghanistan". I don't think that was a responsible way to use the word. I appreciate the efforts to correct the record, but it'd be nice if they didn't totally miss the point by doing so.

The CNN reporter is right that the Madrassa which Obama attended is in an exclusive neighborhood and is what locals call an "International School", which are basically holding pens for the offspring of white people, diplomats, and Jakarta's elite. Now THAT sounds like a breeding ground for criminals and hate. At least it's not as elitist as say (bristle) Yale.

I visited a Madrassa for a report on US funding for education in Indonesia around the time Bush came to visit here. There had been a brief scandal when people first heard that US funding might be going toward Madrassa (and therefore funding terrorism training). The school I visited for the report had a serious shortage of books and desks, but they provide one of the best elementary educations a kid can get in Jakarta.

Say it with me again, folks: a Madrassa is not a terrorism school.

  116. Chad Says:

No, a madrassa is not a graduate school. Kids from preschool to high school age attend madrassa in Jakarta.

  117. Jeff Says:

Funny how you leave out that the news organization that original "broke" the story claims they got their info from the Hillary Clinton campaign who immediately blamed the right wing.

  118. Alan R Says:

The Fox newsies used a banner headline beneath the story about Obama.

    It read...."HILLARY OUTS OBAMA"

The reporting was done...with a minor mention that it might have been some Hillary Clinton operatives who put out the story, but that there was no confirmation of that.

Yet...there was the headline. To be seen on TV screens across America. Often, nowadays...you go to a bank...and there's Fox to watch while you're waiting. Here in Phx...at the waiting rooms of the Maricopa County offices...as well as the Phx city offices...there's Fox.
So...even without the words...the lie gets great notice by captive audiences. OY.
When oh when will the presence of a giant news organization as a propaganda tool of the administration be investigated? There have GOT to be laws against that. And if there aren't...there should be!!!!

  122. Nadia Says:

Let me clarify that the Besuki Elementary school where Senator Barack Obama attended during his stay in Indonesia is no where close to a madrasah, it is a public elementary school attended by Indonesian children from all backgrounds.

I know this for a fact even more because my aunt was his classmate and she and my father lived right behind the school. It is located in the elite suburb of Menteng in the capital city of Jakarta.

Though the majority of the Indonesian population is Muslim, we do have public elementaries just like the US, and while we do have a religious class they do not teach them anything even close to extremism. And at that age, they most likely taught them the very general basics of Islam.

There are madrasahs in Indonesia but this elementary school is not one of them.

  123. Roadrunner Says:

  139. Lee Says:

Obama freezes out FOX reporters, he is only following Hitlary Clinton lead to make sure there is nobody to ask real questions. What a surprise.

Fox host Steve Doocy pointed out that madrassas are “financed by Saudis” & “teach this Wahhabism which pretty much hates us,” then declared, “The big question is, was that on the curriculum back then?” Later, a caller asked," Does Obama’s schooling means that “maybe he doesn’t consider terrorists the enemy.”

    Damn Good Question.

  140. drak Says:

    Lee,

If FOX "NEWS" knew how to ask real questions, Bush and Cheney would have been running for cover years ago. Could you be any more openly insulting and sophomoric with the "Hitlary" Clinton line? If you knew jack about history you could see a lot more parallels between the current administration and the Nazis. It sounds like something you picked up from Limbaugh, who seems to have a pathological issue with Ms. Clinton. Here's a hint about Rush: try not to listen to drug addicts, even if they are on national media. They're just not reliable sources of facts.

As for this whole question of whether or not Islam hates us, I'd just like to point out that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all suppossedly worship the same God, and all of them have parts of their respective scriptures that allow violent nutbars to terrorize and kill in the name of said God. Basically, all the major religions can be used to justify depraved and savage behavior, if that's the way you want to interpret them. So, if you're a REAL American, and believe in the separation of Church and State, any of the Big Three Religions will have at least a few followers that do indeed hate you for it. Many of said nutbars are in the process of attempting to take over the country.

It's really all about what people do with their religion, not which religion they follow. At least I haven't heard anything from Obama that sounds like the typical Neo-CON lunacy about having a Crusade, or being elected by God, or some such BS.

On the other hand, I suspect that Obama doesn't consider terrorists the real enemy, or he wouldn't be in Washington in the first place. That place is crawling with terrorists, the kind that kill half a million innocents based on a lie, and then try to justify it. The kind that smile and nod when their worst members kidnap and secretly imprison and torture people. The kind that look at poverty and suffering, and laugh their asses off.

-And as far as I'm concerned, I'll consider all the Presidential candidates part of the same terrorist organization until I start hearing one of them screaming the "I"-word at the top of their lungs. You know: "Impeachment".

Need proof? Remember the Bush-Gore debates? Bush said something about how young people think they're invincible, and think they don't need insurance. Wolfie was interviewing members of the audience after the candidates spoke, and the first woman he gave the mike to said she'd "never vote for Bush because he said young people don't need insurance." Blitzer said nothing, letting her comment stand-obviously he liked the impression it left with the viewers. The woman can be excused-she was obviously just completely ignorant, but Blitzer is supposed to be a professional. LOL Here at TP, it seems if news outlets slant things your way, they're news outlets, otherwise the full force of the govt should be used to shut them down. Anybody see "War Stories" with Oliver North tonite? It was all about the heroic and courageous service of African Americans in the military. That's the "racist" Fox news channel for you.

  142. chicarowah Says:

It amazes me that Americans are so memeory deficiant that they don't know that our beloved Democrat, Roosevelt in the 30's was sending money hand over fist to Hitler. Just incase you don't remember, take a guess, who was responsible for the IRS' initiation, Dem or Rep. You might be surprised. Look it up folks.

  143. James J. Says:

As individuals of the United States of America, we spend too much time in trying to criticize people about their religion, ethnicity, etc; when really why does it matters what school one goes too, what the color of one skin may be. We need to stop always trying to down people for where they come from or what they look like, and start trying to accept those for who they are. What does it matter if he went to a Madrass School or not.

  144. Skip C Says:

As of right now, when I want the closest thing to the truth from the MSM, I watch MSNBC. When I feel like being lied to, I watch Fox. CNN lies somewhere in between them.

    Comment by Kasalari — January 22, 2007 @ 7:02 pm

So you are the one that watches MSNBC. You have made my day, I've been wondering what kind of person you were.

  145. Gary S. Says:

Boy, I don't get it. Fox news seams to be the only news outlet that gives both side to stories. CNN and all the major news outlets only give the liberal agenda with no other viewpoints. I like to hear all sides and develop my opinions from there.
