Karbala is a stronghold of the Shia Mahdi Army. Only American troopers were targeted in the operation (5 dead 3 injured). There were no injuries inflicted on any Shia forces in or around the vicinity of the compound. Can you imagine what happens when Bubble Boy Bush orders the American troopers to be embedded with the Shia forces in greater Baghdad?…. Watch the spin…

No doubt bush will complain that the Iraqi government needs to insist that those opposed to bush’s occupation dress up in uniforms that will easily allow us to identify and kill them and then Iraq would have democracy.

They did, look at any book on insurgency, disquise and infiltration are classic insurgent tactics. It’s not their fault we don’t read our own doctrine.

The longer we are there the wider the Iraqi militia groups and the Iraqi military will become. The militiamen will accuse the men in the military of working with the enemy and the military men will accuse the militia of killing them along with the “occupiers”. Hard to remember that both groups, in their own ways and minds, are trying to fight for their country. Or at least what they think their country should be. All the while we are sitting in the middle of it all with an occupying military and corporate strongmen to take away their source of revenue that can help them become stable. Get out now and le the Iraqis decide what to do without the interference of an armed invasion force. And yes they Iraqis would fight any outside influence including al Queda if the US wasn’t there to provide the “face of evil” as a recruiting tool.
