Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong said he’s concerned that President Bush has proposed cutting funding to the National Cancer Institute for the second year in a row. “The people who want to be president in 2008 should talk about something that kills 600,000 Americans a year,” he said.

**************************************

Does this mean that Lance won't be accepting any more "Tour De Crawford" invitations to go biking with Bush any time soon, since he's not only not providing more funding but is in fact proposing cuts in funding? Yeah, Lance -- this is the sort of thanks you get from Bush for providing him with such a wonderful photo-op...

Marijuana. The chemical THC injected into the tumor. Studies have already been done showing it eliminates cancer. You heard it here first folks.

This posting is proof positive that...

...even well-informed, well-intentioned, Progressives have a hard time digesting the concept of...

...the criminal Bushites stealing so much money...

...that approval/disapproval ratings are the least of their concerns...

...Too many of us cannot bring ourselves to believe that this administration is perpetrating (through the office of the POTUS)...

...the biggest FRAUD, con job, rip off of the American tax payers in history...

...$9 billion dollars is NOTHING compared to the overall tally they've stolen through Iraq no-bid contracts, contracts to non-existent companies, security companies....

...the list goes on and on...

...then add on Katrina, tax breaks to oil companies, tax amnesty (remember that one when the Bushites first rolled into D.C.?)

...the Repulsivescam-led Congress voted in a one-time tax amnesty for offshore corporations to declare their offshore profits at a lesser rate of (from 35%) down to 5%...

...they said it would bring more corporate criminal enterprises into the fold, and to have them pay a portion of their taxes owed, and keep the rest to reinvest in the American economy...

...but as we all know now, they took their windfalls and invested them in emerging (foreign) markets...

...now the Bush dollar is tanking, and there are plans to merge U.S. , Canadian, and Mexican currencies into an "Amero" (like the European Euro)...

Nope, I'd say Bushiva and L'il Dick have done exactly what they set out to do...

katy - It did indeed seem wierd of wierds that it was supposed to take several months to deploy (since most of the buildup was stop loss and keeping scheduled rotations in country). That would mean that as soon as they are all there, they can start coming back.
Hmmmm.
Casey's a short timer, for sure.

speaking of GEN. CASEY, this story was in my local paper... found this link at the google news:

Casey: Troops might start leaving Iraq in summer

By ROBERT BURNS, The Associated Press

TALLIL AIR BASE, Iraq - President Bush's troop increase in Iraq is not selling well at home, in part because critics worry that it won't work and that even more troops might be on the way. But the top U.S. commander in the country is sounding a more optimistic note.

Gen. George Casey told reporters Friday that even as the first of the 21,500 U.S. reinforcements take their positions, security in the country might improve enough for the extra forces to start leaving by late summer.

"You're going to see some progress gradually over the next 60 to 90 days," Casey said, standing alongside the visiting Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

Asked when he thought some of the added U.S. troops could be pulled back, Casey replied, "I believe the projections are late summer, but the first troops are just arriving," so nothing is sure.
[...]

so, what kind of ploy is this?

Must concern you alot that McCain, who polls ahead of Hill’reh,
Comment by Jason M. Hendler — January 22, 2007 @ 9:09 am

There is very little I can add to what other posters have said to skilfully rip your inane post apart except one thing: You have some gall to come here and post taunting comments, when it is you you have been wrong all along; wrong about the invasion, wrong about the occupation, wrong in your support of Pres Bush's other misguided initiatives, wrong about Global Warming, and more recently, wrong in your predictions about the mid-term elections.

In true Bush cultist fashion, you do not base your opinions on reality, Mr. "Standford/Ivy League Graduate" Hendler. But we already know that.

From Huffington Post:

Burdened U.S. military cuts role in drug war
Air and sea patrolling is slashed on southern smuggling routes.

By Josh Meyer, Times Staff Writer
January 22, 2007

WASHINGTON — Stretched thin from fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. military has sharply reduced its role in the war on drugs, leaving significant gaps in the nation's narcotics interdiction efforts.

Since 1989, Congress has directed the Pentagon to be the lead federal agency in detecting and monitoring illegal narcotics shipments headed to the United States by air and sea and in supporting Coast Guard efforts to intercept them. In the early 1990s, at the height of the drug war, U.S. military planes and boats filled the southern skies and waters in search of cocaine-laden vessels coming from Colombia and elsewhere in South America.

But since 2002, the military has withdrawn many of those resources, according to more than a dozen current and former counter-narcotics officials, as well as a review of congressional, military and Homeland Security documents.

Internal records show that in the last four years the Pentagon has reduced by more than 62% its surveillance flight-hours over Caribbean and Pacific Ocean routes that are used to smuggle cocaine, marijuana and, increasingly, Colombian-produced heroin. At the same time, the Navy is deploying one-third fewer patrol boats in search of smugglers.

The Defense Department also plans to withdraw as many as 10 Black Hawk helicopters that have been used by a multi-agency task force to move quickly to make drug seizures and arrests in the Caribbean, a major hub for drugs heading to the United States.

And the military has deactivated many of the high-tech surveillance "aerostats," or radar balloons, that once guarded the entire southern border, saying it lacks the funds to restore and maintain them.

The Department of Defense defended its policy shift in a budget document sent to Congress in October: "The DOD position is that detecting drug trafficking is a lower priority than supporting our service members on ongoing combat missions."

Members of Congress and drug-control officials have said the Pentagon's cuts and redeployments have hamstrung the U.S. drug interdiction effort at a time when an estimated 1,000 metric tons of inexpensive, high-quality cocaine is entering the country each year.
