“Attorneys for former White House aide Scooter Libby said Tuesday that Bush administration officials tried to blame him for the leak of a CIA operative’s name to cover up for Bush political adviser Karl Rove’s own disclosures. … ‘They’re trying to set me up. They want me to be the sacrificial lamb,’ [Libby's attorney] said, recalling the conversation between Libby and Cheney. ‘I will not be sacrificed so Karl Rove can be protected.‘”
Then open your pie hole and work with the prosecutors to bring down the treasonous traitors to our country. Stop cock blocking Patrick Fitzgerald.
January 23rd, 2007 at 2:59 pmWell Duhhhhhh!!!!! Of course your the scapegoat. Is that his case? Fingerpointing?
guilty of being a republican. He’s guilty
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:00 pmSomeone set us up the bomb!
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:00 pmLooks like Libby’s gonna drop the dime.
I wonder how long before Rove’s operatives take action.
Will it be:
Place your bets.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:02 pmHey Karl,
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:09 pmHow do you like the Republican Blame Game now ??? And who are you going to roll over on ??? Heh heh heh.
Or will Libby suddenly and inexplicably recant, confess to all the wrongdoing himself, and exonerate Cheney and Rove?
Comment by TripMaster Monkey
Impossible. Someone had to give him the info. He didn’t have the security clearance to get it. I agree with your options he will be “silenced” somehow. Maybe Bush’s buddy with a good soul, Putin, can lend him the hitman he used to silence Litvinenko.
If I may I would like to add one more.
Or will he drop a load in his pants and start squealing like a good little piggy neo-con caught in his own traitorous trap.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:10 pmTrip:
Well we all know when it comes to politics, it’s party before country, it’s party before… well everything.
So I pick #3, he’ll take the fall, be well paid, pardoned.. and Americans will continue to get F’ed by both parties.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:11 pmGod, this just couldn’t be better. All these White House SOBs turning on each other. Also, it’s ironic and suiting that this all breaks on the day of the SOTU address!
Will there be calls in congress for Cheney’s resignation? Will there be pointed oped pieces trashing the VP for his obvious unethical and possibly illegal actions? Will people put 2 and 2 together and figure out that the same kind of underhanded, slimy and dishonest methodology was used by the veep to drag us into Iraq?
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:12 pmlike the ship of fools stranded on a windless sea….these rats will eat eachother. to bad they’ve steered our nation into a similar fate
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:18 pm“I will not be sacrificed so Karl Rove can be protected.”
Just one of the “GOP Quotes of the Week.”
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:21 pm“I will not be sacrificed so Karl Rove can be protected.â€
I wish our soldiers and Marines in Iraq could say something like this.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:28 pmisn’t it a little late to use that defense? why on Earth has he not said this before?
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:29 pmI’d like to think it was rats eating each other, but will Rove be important at the next election? I always understood he was Bush’s schemer/evil dark master/plotter. Being as Bush can’t run again, would McCain or whoever else gets the nomination automatically want Rove on their team being as he’s been tainted so heavily by Bush?
If no-one will want Rove after ‘08, then why would Libby protect him at all? Why not share his fall with Rove if he feels bitter at being the scapegoat?
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:30 pmStop crying you little “Girly Man” and rat of the crooks. Rove, Bush, Cheney, Wolfman and Dumbsfelt. You’re screwing up your pardon scooter, you’re really screwing the pooch.

Of course not, Libby will be sacrificed so Dick Cheney can be protected.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:46 pmHelicopter shot down in Iraq; 5 killed
AP – 11 minutes ago
BAGHDAD, Iraq – A helicopter owned by the private security firm Blackwater USA crashed Tuesday in central Baghdad, and five civilians were killed, a U.S. military official said. A senior Iraqi defense official said the aircraft was shot down over a predominantly Sunni neighborhood.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:46 pmHere’s a question. How entrenched is/was Scooter with the PNAC crowd and the extreme conservative Right? I’m wondering if larger bricks are going to fall because of how unhappy these two groups are with Bush and Cheney. True Conservatives are patient and don’t have any worthwhile horse in any race for the next 4 years.
I could see these groups turning on Bush. There are signs that Perle and others already have.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:48 pmThis is starting to remind me of an old cartoon.
(Suspend disbelief here.)
Rove and Cheney are shipwrecked on a deserted island and are left with nothing but the tattered rags they wear.
They have been there for days and have finally finished eating the last pieces of Scooter Libby.
Rove notices that when he looks at Cheney in just the right way, he morphs into a giant cheese filled hotdog with bun.
When Cheney looks at Rove, he morphs into a delicious steaming ham.
A circular chase scene ensues.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:00 pmRove, Cheney, and well, thats it for now. I can’t say the Chimp was behind anything but a bottle of Jim Beam.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:05 pmIsreali President to be indicted on rape charges?
When’s our President going to be indicted on his crimes?
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:13 pmOf course it was Karl Rove.
It’s why we were all shocked when was not charged with anything.
Maybe that’s all about to change….
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:18 pm#4 TMM – Somebody go get a shitload o’ dimes!!!
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:21 pmWe’re gonna need em to get by this toll booth marked
IMPEACHMENT
unbelievable
I was not really surprised that Rove was not charged. With Libby obstructing the investigation, Fitgerald could not proceed to gather the information which would probably lead to Rove. As you said, though, maybe that’s all about to change. Fingers and toes crossed.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:23 pmI can’t wait for the “tough on crime” Republicans to start whining about “healing America” with a needed pardon for Scooty Lie-bby.
These people care about nothing and no one except themselves.

January 23rd, 2007 at 4:32 pmI hope Libby is in a very secure and safe area. There is no telling what Cheney has ordered to keep him quiet. I wonder if Libby will have a mysterious heart attack just days before testifying. Or will it be a poisoning of one Scooter Libby.
I just cannot see Cheney allowing him to divulge any information.
I am going to keep a close eye on this one and see if Scooter lives to tell all.
Keep in mind, Scooter Libby is a member of PNAC.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:38 pmIf Libby is changing his tune, I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact that Dems control both houses of Congress. When Libby signed on to go down, they were working with a compliant congress.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:41 pmBush defending Carl:” One is a Rover,and one is a Scooter,and as a decider..I got to choose.I chose Carl.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:41 pmA jury that includes four critics of the Bush administration’s Iraq policies was seated yesterday to try former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby Jr. on perjury charges.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:47 pmYes, evidently, the biggest problem they had finding jurors was that the defense kept disqualifying anyone who didn’t agree with the Bush administration and they ran out of disqualifications and ended up having to allow qualified jurors who don’t agree with Bush. I would have thought that to be a non-admisable reason for disqualifying a juror, but whatever.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:58 pmHillary Clinton and the Israel Lobby
As Clinton embraces Israel’s violence, as well as AIPAC’s fraudulent posture on Iran, she simultaneously ignores the hostilities inflicted upon Palestine, as numerous Palestinians have been killed during the continued shelling of the Gaza Strip over the past year.
As one of the top Democratic recipients of pro-Israel funds for the 2006 election cycle, pocketing over $83,000,
Similar to her husband and the current president, Hillary Clinton will never alter the U.S.’ Middle East policy that so blatantly favors Israeli interests.
January 23rd, 2007 at 4:58 pmOooh… c’mon, Scooter- Sing like a jailbird. I don’t doubt for a second that Rove and Cheney are behind the outing of the CIA operative. Was there ever any doubt? The Republican M.O. is now in full gear: eat your own and leave no witnesses.
January 23rd, 2007 at 5:01 pmYes, evidently, the biggest problem they had finding jurors was that the defense kept disqualifying anyone who didn’t agree with the Bush administration

I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was one of the signatories to the Statement of Principles of the PNAC.

January 23rd, 2007 at 5:22 pmI almost kinda feel sorry for the guy.
Eh..well, not really.
January 23rd, 2007 at 5:32 pmCheney’s Problem: Its ok to look the American people in the eye, and LIE….because it is really for their own good, and Sadam is a punk….and when he is taken out, we’ll all be heros and No One will care about the Truth. Unfortunately for him, the Cakewalk ended in a Quagmire.
January 23rd, 2007 at 5:46 pmThis is still all “smoke and mirrors.” The person Libby was, and still is, protecting is Cheney. The man behind the curtain was responsible for the CIA leak, and everything else that has transpired within this administration. He’s good at not leaving fingerprints, because he gets his loyal lackies to do all the dirty work for him. As for Rove, that’s Bush’s best buddy, and whatever Rove did (on behalf of Bush), he did so with total knowledge by GW.
January 23rd, 2007 at 5:47 pmSee the string below this one on TP…backs up what I’m saying in #40.
January 23rd, 2007 at 5:53 pmDog Eat Dog
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:05 pmI have not been following this closely at all, but…
is there a chance that Libby is laying the ground for a defense that will intersect with information that can be kept secret and kept out of court? Could he be implicating people and putting evidence into play that will allow Bush hide behind a “state secret” shield — thereby invalidating the trial?
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:09 pmKC
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:12 pmIt’s Cheney, stupid ;)
Scooter, when will you realise your former best mates have made you walk the plank, offered you as a scapegoat, in order to save their own behinds?
You have nothing left to lose. Cooperate. Tell the whole story. We all need to know.
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:37 pmHey Scooter, say hello to Ken Lay when you see him. (I don’t believe Ken Lay is dead. He’s probably in Qatar helping them build their energy companies)
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:45 pmMr. Libby, just a few simple answers should clear all this up:
“Why was anyone in the White House talking about Valerie Plame for any reason?”
“Why on earth would you be willing to perjure yourself for such lying, unprincipled derilects like Rove and Cheney?”
“Why did you let Ms. Miller sit in jail for 85 days?”
January 23rd, 2007 at 7:10 pmThey want me to be the sacrificial lamb,’ [Libby’s attorney] said, recalling the conversation between Libby and Cheney. ‘I will not be sacrificed so Karl Rove can be protected.‘â€
Then you shouldn’t let that happen, Scooter. Open up, and sing like a bird…
January 23rd, 2007 at 8:05 pmDidn’t his momma warn him…
…that, “you ARE who you associate with.” ?
