On his radio show today, right-wing host Rush Limbaugh criticized the military for allowing women to fight for the United States, asking what “it says about a cultured civilized society that it will round up babes send them off to basic training and send them off to the foxholes.”
How about just fat GOP fascist slobs like Limbaugh get sent to Iraq?!
January 26th, 2007 at 11:34 pmOf course he did.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:38 pmSaw a short clip about rove today and he fit the fat GOP fascist slob profile..He has got to be among the ugliest thing’s alive…..Blessings
January 26th, 2007 at 11:38 pmThis piece of crud dodged the draft during Nam and now he has the temerity to criticize anyone in uniform? For that alone he should be horse-whipped in the public square.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:39 pmwhoa… TP crew is working overtime! … go team truth!
January 26th, 2007 at 11:41 pmRush is also a sweaty, fat, balding, drug-addicted pig. Just sayin’
January 26th, 2007 at 11:42 pmI’m in an “ad-hominem” kind of mood.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:43 pmI’ll bet most of the female servicemembers who’ve been shipped home in a casket or lost a limb were simply attached to platoons in some support capacity as medics and whatnot. Rush should ask what kind of country lets its military rotate into a war zone three times instead of instating the draft so the Pentagon doesn’t have to get as practical as allowing female attachés.
Then again it’s not as if insurgents are going to skip the opportunity to shoot a supply convoy because there might be a female on board. I wouldn’t.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:46 pmWith Rush as our spokesman for our “cultured civilized society” I think we can see the futher decline in our status in the world.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:47 pmRush’s radio show should be renamed “What Not to Think”. Not that his spewings are really the product of the thought process.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:48 pmSome of those “babes” have seen more combat than Rush has seen in movies. They have also been killed in Bush’s illegal war of empire. Limbaugh is a fat, drug-addled moron who doesn’t have half the balls of the women he is degrading. WTF!!!!!
katy- is this TP’s 100 hours without Judd?
January 26th, 2007 at 11:49 pmI truly cannot take any more of this fake ,human piece of garbage. Really. I cannot stand him……the only other Person on the planet, that I can think of at the moment, that can anger me to this degree is “the destroyer”….chimp man. Limbaugh is the KKK of woman bashing. And as a woman……….I loath him.
Here is my question to everyone…anyone please!!??
When is Limbaugh going to crash under the weight of his own filth? I don’t think I can wait much longer. Who is going to lead the charge to bring this shit down? Surly there are enough researchers/writers that can put out a movie or book on him that lifts up all the slimy rocks he’s got his core crap hidden under. This society tolerates him further at its own peril. Do I seem a bit upset??

January 26th, 2007 at 11:56 pmWhat does it say about a cultured, civilised society that it would allow a drug-addicted moron access to a microphone so he can call women “babes”?
That trend is far more worrisome, in my opinion…

January 27th, 2007 at 12:12 amis limpballs still played in iraq/afghanistan?
January 27th, 2007 at 12:12 amthis should go over real well…
Yes, Rush, only males are valuable – the females are feminazis.
The rightwing nut jobs are kicking it up a notch now because there is so much anxiety in the White House, they are doing their patriotic duty in distracting their listening lowlifes. It’s like Lintball, Slanthead, BO and the rest have their marching orders.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:15 am#16….yes it is worrisome. Sorry but Rush has torn open the wound…..Let the torrent begin!!!!! In case people don’t get this yet, LimpJaw is doing to women what would in NO WAY be tolerated if it were being said about a black person, or a handicapped person. Women, in some ways, really still are at the bottom of the totem pole in this world. Guess Susan Brownmiller was right…after a long nuanced night of arguing a point, the final decision comes down to who can physically shut the other one up….brute strength. That is why women have a historic role of being 2nd banana. It’s a physical thing….at the end. But I digress……Back to BIG fat man…..Think about it……..much more crap gets by regarding women than any other minority. I don’t care if there are some successful career women. The bottom line is that women must do the job of defining themselves apart from men…then they can come together with men and have decent equal relationships. Maureen Dowd, in asking “are men really necessary” was not so much jabbing at men as getting to my previous point. Why….must women be a subset psycologically, to a man? In my view, until women break their addiction to “pleasing” daddy…..we’re screwed….if ya know what I mean.

Actually, I think all of the sexism, racism and anti-nonchristian/westernism is a symptom of shock and disorganization from the Republicans losing absolute power. If these nutjobs were organized, their idiocy would not be so blatant.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:26 amAt this point they have become such caricatures of themselves and so culturally/socially disgusting that they are just going to cause the more critically minded of those who support Republicans to leave.

Off topic. Its on yahoo:
BAGHDAD, Iraq – In perhaps the boldest and most sophisticated attack in four years of warfare, gunmen speaking English, wearing U.S. military uniforms and carrying American weapons abducted four U.S. soldiers last week at the provincial headquarters in the Shiite holy city of Karbala and then shot them to death.
The brazen assault, 50 miles south of Baghdad, was conducted by nine to 12 gunmen posing as an American security team, the military confirmed. The attackers traveled in black GMC Suburban vehicles (the type used by U.S. government convoys), had American weapons, wore new U.S. military combat fatigues, and spoke English, according to two senior U.S. military officials as well as Iraqi officials.
And they want to escalate…
January 27th, 2007 at 12:34 am#32 Juan C
It should be investigated how insurgents got hold of US military equipment. They could have gotten it through connections to the Iraqi military of course, but I think it more likely they got it through US companies … maybe not directly, but possibly through Iran (shock!)
January 27th, 2007 at 12:39 amHere goes my conspiracy theory, Ashenhard.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:45 amThey are Negroponte´s death squads in order to continue escalation.
It should be investigated how insurgents got hold of US military equipment.
Comment by AshenShard — January 27, 2007 @ 12:39 am
I wouldn’t know about the uniforms (although I suspect someone in Iraq has to do the troops’ laundry, and sometimes stuff just “goes missing”), but I think the hardware is likely to have come from here: Thousands of U.S. weapons in Iraq missing
But don’t worry your pretty little head -conservatives are in charge and they know what’s best for all of us since they are BIG in security and do not need oversight…
January 27th, 2007 at 12:45 amService Women?
They should remain ” in field concubines ” for the troops. Just dont give them a gun.
Servicewomen,…yes Uncle Sam named them correctly alright.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:56 am#34 Juan C
I do not think it would be that bad … do you think Negroponte could live with himself over that? Or any other American who knew about it, would they be silent for long? If you are right, something like that cannot be kept under wraps for long and will soon be public knowledge.
#35 Gregor Samsa
I do not think conservatives, as in Republicans in office and run of the mill Republicans would be aware of any such dealings. They may actually see themselves as defenders of America and be too naive to see what is going on behind their backs.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:56 amIt is the ‘defense’ industry that is the problem. They don’t care who they sell to, law or no law, as long as they make a profit. And they will lie, and play the part of patriotic American business as long as they have to. This leads me to the conclusion that in wars such as Iraq, no contractors should be allowed, the military should have a structure that can deal with military tactical as well as long term strategic civilian support. In other words, all American ‘defense’ contractors should be absorbed by the federal government. It may cause military innovative stagnation, but that is worth the lives saved I think.
Service Women?
They should remain †in field concubines †for the troops. Just dont give them a gun.

Sadly there might be some truth to that. Isn’t sexual assault common in the service?

Comment by AshenShard — January 27, 2007 @ 12:56 am
I was being facetious -I don’t think your average Republican is aware of any of this.
I was making reference to the taunts that many conservative trolls would spew here about “liberals” being “soft on terror and weak in security”, and to the fact that the Bush (mis)administration has claimed many times they do not need oversight. Clearly, some oversight could have been useful here.
January 27th, 2007 at 1:03 amFurther OT, but I figured I have to share this… I’m taking a Modern German History course and am reading a book called Absolute Destruction by Isabel Hull which explores German military culture and looks at how the institution and the thinking led to war crimes … I have found it frightening some of the rhetoric used in 19th/early 20th century Germany to justify actions taken by the military which is similar to the rhetoric by this administration
Isabel quotes from a German officer who fought in the Franco-Prussian war: “War, as compared to peace, is something entirely abnormal; it produces exceptional/emergency situations… In their stead it returns to conditions that permit the unlimited justification of individual power and might” then, ” War Interrupts the legal condition of peace explosively… and during its activity comletely suspends the entire legal norms characteristic of peace…(pp 123)
another quote, this from the left in the Reichstag: “the current moment, when our troops are risking life and blood in battle … is inappropriate [for questioning.” (pp. 106)
Hull also goes into how the military refused to accept any sort of negotiation short of full victory for the army, and would not recognize any combatants who were not uniformed, ie were militia rather than professional military.
I haven’t finished the book yet, and those are just a taste of some parallels i see so far, but I think its worth reading for those who want something else to point out the poor foreign policy and the fighting of the Iraq war by this administration, not to mention Gitmo.
January 27th, 2007 at 1:13 amClearly, some oversight could have been useful here.

If he sleeps calmly with all the dead peasants his Contra troops left in El Salvador and NIcaragua, and think he is just fine. Torturers are really average guys. They love their kids, they go out with their wives, have a beer with friends. Its just a job from them. In Chile and in Argentina, the torturer was the friendly neighbor all along. They are not special. Negroponte, as Bush I, Cheney, Wolfowitz, etc. are convinced that what they are doing is the correct in order to save the country from their twisted POV. National security is an excuse for all kind of atrocities, just as your book says.

Im always amazed at how US citizens believe in their government and their institutions in almost any kind of situation, which shows two things IMO:
1) the advanced social and political conscience of US people.
2) the great opportunities that US government has to deceive US people.
In III world countries, any common citizen knows government is made just for one reason: make some 30 families richer than they are. This is true in almost any latinamerican country. No one here over 5 years old believes in the government, we all know they are screwing us big time, but unless they screw us mildly we can stand this, cuz we are like that: lazy, ignorant and fearful.
But some US citizens are shocked by the possibility that the government had lied to them in whatever issue: military, economics or politics. I have seen frequent posters here grasp to the idea that the government cant willingly go all the way against its own people. Maybe its becuz I dont understand too much US internal affairs, but thats hilarious. Every government will screw its own people in order to benefit the ruling class. And sometimes screw it big time.

Liberated But Alone…
Okay, so you burned your bras and now you are liberated. Yes, you’ve gained many freedoms that were previously not acceptable for women.
You can ask a man for a date and even be the one who proposes if you decide to do so.
You can pursue your own careers and many of you have proven that you are quite capable of leading as well as following.
You can drink beer straight from the bottle, go to male stripper shows, smoke cigars, and use any choice cuss word that you want; whereever you want.
You are indeed liberated.
You’ve worked hard for it, you’ve earned it, and no one should deny you what countless generations of your gender have struggled and sacrificed to accomplish.
However, none of this makes you necessarily attractive, desired, wanted, or pursued.
In fact, should you be one of those women who is caught up in the current trend to act and be “bitchy,” doing so actually makes you very unattractive in the eyes of most men. Yes, you say that you can live without men who will not readily accept you should you have a bitchy attitude? Fine. Just realize that you’ve narrowed the field of men down to a very small minority. Furthermore, any willingness on their part to give in to a woman who feigns equality when really exercising control may be more out of their desparation than any kind of true acceptance.

Independent is Good, But…
Before you dismiss the rest of this article, please read on. It could very well be that the point being made here will help any female reader gain some needed insight into the workings of the male mind and visa-versa.
You see, few males would ever demean a woman who has done well in her chosen career. Most of us enjoy a gal with some spunk.
One of this writer’s favorite movie scenes is from “Overboard,” starring Goldie Hawne and Kirk Russell. Her character joins him for a beer at a redneck bar. When she reaches for her drink, Russell’s character states that, “I’ve always been attracted to women who drink their beer straight from the bottle.” The point is that we men enjoy our women in all shapes and sizes and with all of your liberties as well, but we are absolutely turned off and disgusted when you feel that you can only relate to us with an “attitude.”
-
Understand How Men See You…
Much like the gay male who overdoes his femininity with flamboyance, we view a female who is overly aggressive, manipulative, demeaning, and indignate in much the same way. There will never be any substitute for the expression true humanity, whether it is demonstrated by a man or a woman. Nothing is more attractive to a male than a liberated woman with a balanced attitude that is genuine and considerate.
I happen to work in an environment filled with young adults. Not only that, but I have two grown sons. If overly aggressive women could but hear the disgust for them as these young fellows talk, they would have to reconsider their self-deluded arrogance that demands they portray themselves as bitchy women. Except for whimps, there are few real men who really want anything to do with women who are self-gradiozed and demeaning toward men.
These are the same women who revel in denigrating men for their supposed cluelessness. In truth, this issue has less to do with any difference between the sexes and much more to do with whether or not one is going to be a decent human being.
I’ve had the experience of dating a woman who, although she was physically gorgeous, portrayed a superior attitude in all that she said and did. Her response to our four dates together resulted in an e-mail message stating that I was very “basic and simple” and that she was really looking for her “equal.” Even if I am basic and simple, the point is that she has obviously taken this attitude toward all men because that was most of the content of our conversations–her thirteen years of dating one “jerk” after another. However, I do think that she deserves her “equal.” After all, bitchy guys do exist as well.
Like my four-date-nightmare, there are too many women who complain about men not being romantic. The truth is that we guys are very capable of being romantic. It’s just that a woman with a self-centered attitude isn’t worth the effort on our part. Oh, we’ll go to bed with her as long as we can tolerate her barbs, griping, and whining but don’t think for one minute that we are going to ever get down on one knee and ask if she would like to wear our engagement ring.
No, that request will be saved for a truly liberated woman–the one who is liberated from herself.

January 27th, 2007 at 3:21 amAggressiveness vs. Attraction…
In a perfect world, liberated women would be less aggressive and good men would be much more understanding regarding how to treat a woman more as a person than prey. Those couples who are enjoying a truly mutually fulfilling relationship are doing so because they have worked at developing balance, understanding each other, and relearning the simple truth that all of us need to be treated as valued human beings if we are to love truly and feel genuinely loved in return.
The world isn’t perfect but, then again, each of us has the ability to readjust our thinking so that we can bring both maturity and understanding to our own primary relationships.
Either that or we’ll just have to adapt to being unhappy and very much alone.
May every woman experience nothing but the right to be free in every way and do well in whatever they attempt to do with no man-made obstacles to have to confront along the way. That is your right and that is what your fore-mothers worked so hard to accomplish for you.
All I am saying here is that some of you are obviously making the mistake of becoming exactly what you have historically hated in men.
Don’t be a bitch and if you are one, don’t blame it on men. Take responsibility for yourselves and be our friends, companions, counterparts, equals, lovers, and partners.
What kind of country gives deferments to capable young men with boils on their butts?
January 27th, 2007 at 5:59 amRush Limbaugh now using women as a tool to attack and insult his opponents or what he calls ‘Liberals’ for sending the ‘babes’ to Iraq. Limbaugh gave example of football game to make his point. Limbaugh as a draft dodger cannot claim any experience on military. Football players are all playing in the field and indeed body and muscles are needed for the game. But military does not work the way Limbaugh described it. In military it is a family and team effort. Not everybody in the military now in Iraq is in combat..not even 60%…What do the rest do ?…they complete the job as a team..from procurement to comminication to intelligence, to medical care. Limaugh’s ignorance is clear…Navy carriers have thousands of people who run the show on the carrier, but the pilots who excute the missions are small in percentage to the total number of people on the carrier. The people who prepare for the mission just as important as the pilots who fly the mission. Large number of women in the military help in all aspects of military tasks needed from medical,to procurment to many other functions. Limbaugh here meant to attack ‘liberals’, as usual for allowing women to go to Iraq. In Second World War, women flew aircrafts over the Pacific on missions to the Soviet Union delivering needed materials and supplies to help Russians eastern front against the Nazis….Rush who himself avoided war, should be ashamed to tackle such subject. He is the same person who attacked Michael J. Fox claiming he was ‘faking it’ when he appeared on televsion,..this man has no boundries when it comes to respect of others…he made his millions attacking people behind his microphone in the name helping the public..sad, he is only helping himself .
January 27th, 2007 at 7:29 amOn his radio show today, right-wing host Rush Limbaugh criticized the military for allowing women to fight for the United States, asking what “it says about a cultured civilized society that it will round up babes send them off to basic training and send them off to the foxholes.â€
***************************************
It’s always been blindingly obvious to me that Limbaugh is a Neanderthal throwback who secretly feels threatened by the idea that a woman might be just as good — or even better — at something than he is, but this latest statement just makes him look more ridiculous than ever. For one thing, women are prohibited from serving in front-line combat, so they wouldn’t be in a foxhole — and perhaps if Limbaugh had ever served in the military himself, he would know this! If it comes to that, there’s a woman living in my building who’s a Navy vet and proud of it — I know for a fact that if Limbaugh had the guts to say this to her face, she’d make certain that he was very VERY sorry!
Knowing Limbaugh, however, I’m surprised that he didn’t make some sort of remark to the effect that all us “Femi-Nazis” should be sent to the front lines as a way of getting rid of us — but given how much he despises us, I guess he thinks it would be too good for us to die in honorable service to our country.
January 27th, 2007 at 7:47 amNow here’s the thing. Okay, I can bite that women shouldn’t be allowed to have rights that men feel could compete with their manliness… but in return Rush needs to accept this. If women can’t play pro-football, or defend this country, or do anything outside of cooking dinner and raising the kids, then 500 pound men who feel the same way he does can not have sex with women (or men for that matter). It’s not a question of whether or not a 500 pound man who feels the same way Rush does is CAPABLE of having sex with a woman, it’s just that he shouldn’t be allowed. I’ll break it down for you like Rush was ever so gracious in doing. It’s like taking a 500 pound man (who feels the same way Rush does), placing him in a sexual situation with a “meek, frail, weak woman,” and expecting him to not squash her with his big, over sized head. It’s not that he can’t do it… it’s just that he shouldn’t be allowed to try. *rolls eyes* I’m so sick of these weirdos.
January 27th, 2007 at 8:41 amExactly- And especially when Rush is so eager and willing to go in thier stead. Pack your bags, Russ- You’re heading off for ninety days and ninety nights in beautiful downtown Bahgdad at Club Iraq.
January 27th, 2007 at 8:58 amAs usual, Limbaugh, like the remainder of his chickenhawk crowd, does not understand the dramatic impact the cuirrent administration has had on the attrition rape of our military, particularly in Iraq. The Dumbya/Dr Vader cabal has our military so stretched out and thin (and they can’t wait to attack Iran) that we need every breathing human being available to answer the call. Hopefully the time of these bloodthursty warmongers is growing short!
January 27th, 2007 at 8:58 am#56 – Lauren..I don’t think Limbaugh is interested in his sex appeal or his ability to have sex..I think he is more consumed with his ‘toungue appeal’. Yes, he might be a member of gorilla club, but his obsessions with liberals’ attacks will always surpass and exceed any sexual experience he might encounter or desire.

If you fail miserably at the cooking and cleaning portion of your duties their is always left what keeps a man with you in the first place.
If you fail at #s 3,6,9 and 12? If you fail at even that?
You are on your own.
Sorry, fact of life.
And besides, you women have only had the right to vote for like only 80 years. What the hell do you women want?
The world?
Now run along and be a good concubine and make your man some meat, potatoes and homemade bread for supper.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:23 amIn Mr. Limbaugh’s mind these are “babes” he would otherwise have a “chance” with if they weren’t off defending his freedom to be a sexist idiot.

I don’t know about you — but it seems to me that this man has already been taking the blue pills (as opposed to the red ones) for a very, very long time indeed — because he insists on believing what he wants to believe irrespective of what the facts might be.
January 27th, 2007 at 11:38 amimagine the sh*t storm that would rain down on any liberal/progressive if they were to say comparable things.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:03 pm(not that they would)
these blowhards (ie Glenn Beck, Hannity, Coulter…) are given carte blanche to spew whatever comes into their pea brains w/o so much
as a blink from the MSM.
this will only continue until there are real consequences doled out for this kind of behavior.
“Sadly there might be some truth to that. Isn’t sexual assault common in the service?”
Yes, and if she complains about it, she usually is punished in some way. We have a woman in Oregon who was sexually harassed by her commander. She was home on leave and found out that they were sending her back to again be under the same commander. She refused to go and she has been court-marshaled. The only reason why she is not in jail is because she agreed to a deal where she agreed to stay in the military for another 3 years (she was due to be out in less than a year) and is not sent back to Iraq to again be victimized by this man.
January 27th, 2007 at 1:38 pmYou’re right, Rush. In order to preserve the precious life of one American woman, I expect you will therefore march straight to your local Army recruiting office and offer yourself in her place. The Decider expects sacrifice, and I’m sure the Gods of War would regard you as a two-for-one special!
January 27th, 2007 at 3:54 pmYes – Well, Rush is too obtuse to be liked by the women. He thinks that they’re sex objects for someone else’s pleasure. He’s too obtuse to be liked by men, either. He thinks they’re sex objects for his “hidden pleasure”, but any gay man I know wouldn’t be caught dead with someone like him. So, he’s stuck between a rock and a drug place. Poor, poor little (LITTLE?) Rush. I wonder what his blow-up doll looks like? YIKES!
January 27th, 2007 at 4:13 pmHow did this thread ever arise? Doesn’t everyone know that no one sane listens to Rush? (I was going to say ‘in their right mind’ instead of ’sane’, but realized that that could be misconstrued.)
January 27th, 2007 at 5:49 pm# WaltTheMan…….it is PRECISELY because so many “Americans” DO listen to Limbaugh that this thread has arisen. As a woman, and someone who recognizes that what Limbaugh dares to say about women far exceeds (in vileness) what he would say about blacks for example, I deeply resent his remarks. And women need to address these things. It’s no different than swiftboating….and I will not be swiftboated. He is an immoral and cowardly human being and it needs to be said…LOUDLY….and OFTEN.
January 27th, 2007 at 6:20 pmHe’s just trying to dodge the reality that women, who he considers the weakers sex, will go to war,but he won’t.
Typical yellow-bellied coward.
January 27th, 2007 at 6:57 pmObviously Rush hasn’t met my wife.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:42 pmI’m 5′10″ and lying. My wife is 6′ and solid as a rock. When we married 33+ years ago she could stand her own against anyone.
Rush would be mincemeat to her.
Rush’s attitude only means that he is afraid of women standing up for themselves. Which means that he is afraid of his manhood. Poor Rush!
#75 – unbelievable,
January 27th, 2007 at 10:04 pmYou nailed it.

I’m sorry, rachel/vinnie/angie/joanie. I just don’t have time to read another of your long-winded, empty-headed, failed attempts to incite anger. I’m sure it was a gem just like all of your others. Could you just give us a synopsis?
Really now, you’re putting in way too much effort and getting way too little in return for it.
January 28th, 2007 at 12:11 amWhat does it say about us? Well, who is going to replace all the warriors that can’t attend because of a pimple on their ass?
Just asking.
January 28th, 2007 at 1:04 amafricanrevolution.com good, very good! Not only that, reputable, very reputable! Do you realize how you are being duped?
January 28th, 2007 at 1:31 amI want to know from where this myth that women were somehow exempt from warfare arose? While rarely the first choice for assault troops, I sure many a sister has ‘manned’ the ramparts of besieged cities.
January 28th, 2007 at 4:56 pmI think women should be able to apply for combat jobs if they want to- no quotas or lowered standards, just an equal chance. Perhaps very few women would qualify, but at least they would have a fair chance.

I would be all for that if it were true 100% same standard. No “gender norming” or anything. Few may make it, but those few would be worth it. I have served with women in combat. Damn they are good shots!
