Rove, Bartlett subpoenaed.

Rove, Bartlett subpoenaed.»

“White House anxiety is mounting over the prospect that top officials — including deputy chief of staff Karl Rove and counselor Dan Bartlett — may be forced to provide potentially awkward testimony in the perjury and obstruction trial of Lewis (Scooter) Libby.” Rove and Bartlett have already been subpoenaed by Libby’s attorneys, Newsweek reports, and while it’s not certain they will testify, “the odds increased this week after Libby’s lawyer, Ted Wells, laid out a defense resting on the idea that his client…had been made a ’scapegoat’ to protect Rove.”

yeeeesssssss. oh, where is that supposed republican loyalty now?

another bloodsucker under oath.. trolls, what do you have to say about this one??

go fitzy go…. rove will be getting it from all sides… you know fitz would have loved to nail rove as well.. this may be his chance…

  2. smafdy Says:

Here we go. There’s no honor among thieves, and apparently none between rats - these guys are going to be at each other’s throats. Let’s hope there are enough buses for them to throw each other under.

Hopefully, America can awaken itself from it’s consumerism-induced stupor in time to react with an appropriate sense of outrage.

Maybe if it comes to light that they’ve been giving each other blow jobs…

    One can only hope.

  4. Zooey Says:

    Heh.

I can smell the sweat from here….

  5. trueblue Says:

FDL covers the trial live every day.

They blog from the courtroom. (One of two bloggers given press credentials, I believe.)

  6. buzzbomb Says:

This is going to be the year it all falls apart. Too bad all of this could have been avoided if it wasn’t for the Supreme Court handing the most incompetent buffoon on the planet the helm of the United States.

  7. hellinabucket Says:

True buzzbomb but this is where we are now. If the defense is going to throw Cheney, Rove and others yet unamed under the bus the knives will come out and backstabbing will become more commonplace in DC than earmarks.

  8. katy Says:

i’ve been looking for this story since marie posted it earlier…
    here’tis!

  9. katy Says:

i want to pull out my 8×10 of patrick fitzgerald - which i hid when fitzmas didn’t happen, he broke my heart so - but i don’t dare put a hex on any of these proceedings…
    keep on keepin’ on, dearie…

  10. Marie Says:

    Thanks, Katy

I am afraid that no one will be sent to prison for their crimes, but the notoriety and unavoidable display of the White House corruption and manipulation will add additional fuel to the growing clamor for impeachment and removal from office.

I am going to enjoy seeing them squirm. And I hope my fears will not be realized — I hope the whole damn bunch of them is imprisoned.

  11. ChildrenofLir Says:

    “potentially awkward testimony”

    What does that mean?

    Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Don’t get lured by hopes that “potentially awkward testimony” will be given, and the WH is all in a sweat. Oh please. A sweat. They are teasing us with this crap.

  12. ChildrenofLir Says:

Nothing will come of this trial because Fitzgerald is just playing at being a prosecutor. There’s no teeth in this. It’s a show. And Libby will get a slap on the wrist, and everyone will feel like they DID something, except they did NOTHING.

  13. trueblue Says:

    Marie, katy, everyone @ TP,

Ms. Martin’s testimony has already showed that the WH uses the Sunday Morning talk shows to control issues.

    If it’s Sunday…

That story also links you to actual testimony of the trial.
    Very interesting.

  14. Jay Randal Says:

I hope Rove gets charged with perjury and obstruction of justice too!

  15. ForTruth Says:

Hey now, just hey, hey hey, hey.

Can’t you just object to the subpoena?

  16. trueblue Says:

    already shown.

    Jeez, way past my bedtime………..

  17. John Gilpins Says:

    A subpoena? OMG!

Do you know what that means?

A subpoena has to be served.

Servers, don’t worry!! Rove is either at:

    1. Baskin-Robins

    2. A Dupont Circle bar.

    3. Jeff’s house.

    4. His mortgage company inquiring how he bought such an expensive home with a less than stellar salary.

    John

  18. Zooey Says:

Can’t you just object to the subpoena?
    Comment by ForTruth

They can object all they want. The Judge has the final say as to whether or not the subpoena is quashed.

  19. ForTruth Says:

Sweaty, fat, bald, little pigs, with pee in thier pants.

  20. Marie Says:

    #13 trueblue
Excuse me if I may have said this before –
I have frequently written to MTP and accused Russert of doing everything but supply the top hat and cane for Cheney’s tap dances — today I wrote him again. Just to tell him that apparently I wasn’t the only one who saw him as a pushover — and doesn’t he feel foolish, particularly because the complacent and intimidated press were complicit by default in the mess we’re in today?

  21. ChildrenofLir Says:

#20 and doesn’t he feel foolish

    None of them feel foolish.

THey feel fuelish. As in let’s have more war so my fuel stock goes up.

  22. Zooey Says:

    Marie,

    SNAP!!

  23. katy Says:

thanks for that blue … have been checking it out per your recommendations…

anyone: is this ms. martin a “hostile witness” or what?
    did she get whitleblower protection?
is she one of the answers to BnF’s prayer?

  24. ForTruth Says:

Thanks Zooey, now the Judge will…

  25. bellesouth Says:

well! that ended that! Ugh. Mods?

  26. Zooey Says:

Thanks Zooey, now the Judge will…
    Comment by ForTruth

Since the defense attorney seems to be pissing off the Judge to no end, probably nothing — unless Rove can pull some “national security” shit out of the air, then we’ll see.

  27. Zooey Says:

    bellesouth,

We have a crazy-assed troll haunting us right now. It goes by a new name everyday, and steals names constantly. Be on the alert, don’t feed it, and if it jacks your name send Faiz an email. They say they’re working on a fix.

  28. ForTruth Says:

Ya ever see anyone fire a patato gun? It’s pretty cool.

    Comment by Zooey

Sorry Zookeeper,no offence meant, but you fed and nourished this self same troll all the way back to when it was ‘patricia reglin’,'little birdie’ and Wellsley.

  30. Zooey Says:

No offense taken, troll alert, but I’m not feeding it anymore, am I?

When I knew better, I did better.

  31. ForTruth Says:

The troll got a gastric bypass, and only needs a little food at a time, like a little birdy.

  32. Zooey Says:

I had no idea that troll was little birdie, and Wellesley? That’s plain weird.

  33. Jay Randal Says:

Notice: Post 25 is an imposter who has hijacked my name to post vulgar comments on TP threads. I have reported the troll to TP Staff for using my name. Please contact TP to complain about it!

  34. troll alert Says:

    Comment by Zooey

Take my word on it. PAT is also trolling as ‘Joanie Doe’ now as well;trueblue has been unwittingly feeding it.

Jay and Spudge-The troll writing nasty things about you two is also this same one.

  35. troll alert Says:

    Comment by troll alert

Sorry folks, that statement may not be accurate:
trueblue identified the the troll correctly at 6:07 pm. on the Hannity thread.

  36. the fly-man Says:

Back to the substance, don’t you think the decider is going to step in pardon Libby, and just stop this dead in it’s tracks. How can he let this happen to his folk? The public can’t have a clear record of anything they have done why would the administration want this debacle on record?

  37. troll alert Says:

why would the administration want this debacle on record?
    Comment by the fly-man

    Good question.
And would the pardon hold up for the Wilson/Plame civil trial?

  38. little birdie Says:

    troll alert=unbelievable

  39. Red Bear Running Says:

Maybe Fitz could slip in this question to Barlett,” Mr. Barlett, what did you do with the pages of Pres. Bushs service record book, when you, Karen Hughes and Joe Allbaugh cleaned out all references to Bushs AWOL year. If you take the Fifth, it will be the same as admitting you did!.Remember Mr. Barlett,Perjury is a Felony”!

  40. upside00 Says:

I love watching these scumbags turning on each other like a bunch of crabs in a bucket. Let’s just hope this finally comes home to roost for PudgeBoy Rover. He has been swiftboating everyone else for so long, maybe he can feel the pain himself.

But if perjury was REALLY an issue, nobody in this WH Cabal could escape. Never has there been so many disgustedly dishonest people in one place since the Nixon administration…. and they were rank amateurs compared to these a@@holes.

  41. Randy Nason Says:

Well, alrighty, then- Let’s get to the bottom of this mess. Let the cow chips fall where they may.

  42. Liberal in New Mexico Says:

Well, they’re ALL guilty of perjury. Who’s holding the treason card and who gets to claim insanity as a defense? C’mon! Times a wastin’!

  43. ExLaxley Says:

actuallly…duh…this may not be the Rove-B-Q we were hoping for.. my legal mind is guessing this may be all some sort of collusion…..Rove gets on the stand, pleads the 5th, looks guilty as hell doing so and thereby gives some validity to Libby’s “took one for Rove” defense. I bet it won’t work, but Kkkarl would be a fool to do anything on the stand but plead the 5th.

  45. veritas Says:

Who cares about Rove? I see that this has the potential to go straight up the chain of command as “songbirds” have testified that “the entire White House was abuzz with it”….for Libby to claim memory loss is absurd when it was the “premiere” obstacle standing in the way of the Bush Cabal in their decision to already attack Iraq. It’s the old mafioso MO: If you can’t get the guy, get his spouse! Nothing too mystical or unique here at all. Nothing even beginning to be defined as “Rove’s genius”. I see Rove as a spoiled little fat boy who played the schoolyard bully (rat) who vowed one day to “play ball with the big boys” in any way, shape or form that he could. It certainly wasn’t in athletics with that disgraceful, paunchful bod! But who really cares about another chickhawk like Rove?

It’s the other Chief and Vice Chief Chickenhawk who will be taken down by the testimony of insiders on this one. Just in time for impeachment….perhaps impeachment would be too good for someone accused of treason??

  46. DieNowForPeace Says:

    Comment by troll alert

I got that. I just don’t understand the Wellsley thing, although I did see that person turn into little birdie. Strange…

  48. Liberal in New Mexico Says:

Remember what happened to: The Three Billy Goats Gruff? I’m new to this site, but can see that things really do go to hell over the weekend.
Anyway- back to the topic: I think it will be a case of the whole boy scout group going down into the drink because no one can swim. I think it will be even better than Survivor or Idol. I must say, that I just can’t seem to muster any sympathy and almost enjoy the feelings of sadistic depravity that creep into my subconcious. I really want bad things to happen to these scum bags and that’s ok - ’cause I’m still a good person. Okey-dokey!

  49. Reginald Yoyodyne Says:

Since we’re talking about people whose integrity can essentially be purchased, I guess the WH would be concerned.

  50. Raven Says:

Scooter Libby may yet have a chance to redeem himself, and perform his patriotic duty by singing long and loud.
I’m looking forward to Ari “Oleo” Fliescher’s testimony……….
