Yesterday on NPR, right-wing talk show host Glenn Beck criticized fellow conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh for his strident rhetoric, saying it will be “the death of our industry, and the death of our country.” Today, Beck released a statement taking it all back: “I was disappointed to see how NPR chose to make it look like I was insulting Rush, which is something I would never do.“
how dare NPR report my words exactly as i said them! such flagrant liberal bias! waaaahhhh!
January 26th, 2007 at 10:46 pmOh, I see. NPR made it look like he said what he actually said, and failed to make it look like he said something completely different.
Is that right? :P
January 26th, 2007 at 10:49 pmThink this is much ado about nothing. People are just jealous of Glen’s success.
January 26th, 2007 at 10:54 pmThose damn liberal NPR editors!!! Nice try Beck, you still suck balls and you should be an unemployed hack.
I think there is an opening at the Des Moine, Iowa Holiday Inn Lounge for a stand up comedian, good luck sh#t bag.
January 26th, 2007 at 10:55 pmJason, Beck’s the one making something of it. Beck is successful but he’s no more than a varient of Limbaugh. Kind of like Hepatitis B and C are related.
January 26th, 2007 at 10:56 pm#3 JMH
When success is due to hate and racism they deserve to be called out and removed. Modern society should not have room for such narrow mindedness, and it is the job of the rational to call confront and destroy such irrationality as that of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh who both (among other conservatives and neocons) support ignorant, racist, sexist, sectarian and violent positions.
January 26th, 2007 at 10:58 pmbuzzbomb,
January 26th, 2007 at 10:59 pmI disagree with everything Glen Beck Preaches, but I defend his rigght to speak. I’m a Moderate Liberal, so I’m open minded. You come across Hard Left. Why are you so Pro-Totalitarian?
I’m a Moderate Liberal, so I’m open minded.

Straight from Uncle Joe Stalins heart!
He was for him before he was against him which obviously shows he is for him.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:05 pmRush himself has said he is nothing more than entertainment and Beck is just following in his footsteps.
JMH, of course Beck can speak but he also opens himself to everything thrown back at him. Part of that is his schtick. There’s no such thing as bad publicity.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:05 pm#9 JMH
Dan Rather was removed for ‘misinformation’, why not the likes of Beck and Limbaugh? Rather made a mistake, one mistake. Beck and Limbaugh preach hate again and again. They belong in the antebellum South, not in modern America, which was founded on progressive principles.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:06 pmAnd maybe removed was the wrong word…. maybe fired and treated in the same way as Dan Rather which they deserve, and he did not.
Glen Beck although Ideological my opposite, iis a good spokes person for his point of views. I am slightly Pro-Business Clinton style Democrat. I’m for Hillary all the way. Great move Judd!
January 26th, 2007 at 11:06 pmFree Speech people, free speech!
January 26th, 2007 at 11:08 pmI think JMH has been taken over by the ghost of whosits on the other postings. He’s not his normal smugness. If he’s a moderate liberal then Bush is a linguist
January 26th, 2007 at 11:11 pmWe new need a 2 way conversation in this nation between Progressives and Conservatives. We need civil disagreement, not hate.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:11 pmSomebody jacked Hendler’s name.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:12 pmPro-Totalitartion??? What the hell ever, dude!! Your a moderate liberal? Yah. Just because Beck has something to say doesn’t mean he should work for CNN. He has said some really stupid things. Insinuating that Keith Ellison (from my lovely state of Minnesota) is some kind of terrorist sympathizer, saying “faggot” is just a naughty word instead of the slur it is, the guy is a moron. Let him preach his idiotic diatribes on his own blog. He is just too stupid to be on cable news and thats saying something considering his collegues
January 26th, 2007 at 11:14 pmSuccess.? At what, being a bigot, a drunk, most marriages, telavangelest bible thumper on day time tv….ROTFL..Oh I forgot, success at being another bull shit bush tool…Only the 28% and falling are buying that one.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:15 pm#14 JMH
All I have to say about free speech … Dixie Chicks … look what the right did to them for their opinion, which was not hate towards any group, but shame that bush, whose policies are horrendous, was from their state.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:15 pmThose like Beck and Limbaugh constantly make racist and sexist remarks, and refuse to apologize.
Further, should the KKK have free speech? Should neo-nazis have free speech? Either would institute genocide if they had their way. Allowing such speech, that would lead to genocide!, to go unquestioned is immoral.
buzzbomb,
January 26th, 2007 at 11:17 pmHe has a right to speak, like my favorite Commentator Olbermann. I don’t agree with everything Keith belives, he’s a bit to Far Left for me. I’m a Chris Matthews and Tim Russert fan.
Hey the hard Left supports the right of Marxist and Radical Leftists. You must tolerate all speech!
January 26th, 2007 at 11:20 pmRush and Beck deserve one another — two turds in a pot.
January 26th, 2007 at 11:21 pmJason must be on med’s….The jason before this posting was the one who wanted to “distroy all Democrat’s”, not like,” I am a moderate democrat”…LOL..Nice try.Ass .

January 26th, 2007 at 11:51 pmOops. Sorry, Jay.
Namejacking is slimey.

I do not support speech to destroy America
I do not support speech advocating an Islamic State.
I do not support hate speech.
However, as an American, I must support the overthrow of our government if that government becomes tyrannical … such a belief is at the base of the founding of our country. I do not believe that our government has reached this point yet, however, I am not particularly optimistic about the future, though hopeful.
And no, speech advocating the overthrow of the American government is not particularly hate speech, it is speech that recognizes that the government has past its usefulness and must be removed, peacefully or violently, in order to allow further progress.
America and the American government are not one and the same. The government can change an any number of ways and still leave our great country intact. I could cite historical precedent, but there are so many therefore I will leave such to be self-evident for now.

I bet Bush is one of your ‘biggest’ customers. Which can’t be sayin much.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:28 amNote the repeated use of the word “potato” in faux jay randal’s posting. Hardly surprising, as his favourite bedtime snack is new england man chowder.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:39 amYou guys are full hate!
January 27th, 2007 at 12:42 amCan’t we be civil? Please?
January 27th, 2007 at 12:49 amI think name-jacking then mentally masturbating is pretty hateful.
January 27th, 2007 at 1:05 amStill the attention is on Mr. Beck and Mr. Limbaugh. They cant get enough, it’s like crack. They see The Donald and Rosie going at it and they have to say stupid things, pretend they believe them or not and elbow their way to the front of the lens.Simplistic morons, and who are their listeners, simplistic morons. They have become cartoons, animated entertainment stooges.I’m all for letting the market forces take over. Listen to an hour or so of either gentlemen’s show, write down their advertisers and contact them and tell them that the association with the host that promote their product will initiate an immediate boycott from you. Plain and simple. It works.
January 27th, 2007 at 3:49 amI disagree with everything Glen Beck Preaches
Comment by Jason M. Hendler — January 26, 2007 @ 10:59 pm
And I disagree with everything Abercrombie & Fitch -I think their stuff is tacky.
But, who exactly is Glen Beck Preaches?
January 27th, 2007 at 3:50 amIt’s those pesky old law suits, again. Just throw the Nazi some Rx drugs- He won’t know what hit him.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:03 amHas anyone noticed the reverse psychology NPR uses daily? I may be paranoid but it seems they have convinced listeners they are “liberal” while giving air time to hacks like Limbaugh and Beck. How often do you hear an interview with Barbara Erhenreich or Noam Chomsky or Norman Finkelstein on NPR?
January 27th, 2007 at 9:21 amThe other day they broadcast a portion of a statement by Bush and as a reply aired a statement by Joe Lieberman as if he is the recognized voice of the Democratic Party! An interview with John Murtha would have been more appropriate.
I call them Neocon Public Radio. Over the years, it seems like NPR has changed its tone. It used to be obnoxious know-it-all DLC talk. I never liked that. But now it’s straight up GOP talking points with thin DLC veneer (stay with me, here). But they interview so many damn neocons and neocon think tanks. And now Glenn Beck? Why? He’s not popular. His entire program is being pushed like crazy on this country. He’s not a rising star with a grassroots following. I guess it’s a corporate meida thing. They are subtley trying to manufacture a base of support for a dying market segment. Stupid move.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:00 am(sniff) That’s so beautiful! I think I’m going to cry…..
January 27th, 2007 at 10:05 amYaddy-yaddy-yah-dah… By the way, Rush- How’s that nasty old boil on your a-? Oh, I’m sorry- I didn’t realize THAT’S your FACE!
January 27th, 2007 at 10:44 amCriticizing Glenn Beck is not akin to censorship. I live in the retarded state of North Carolina. There is not a single liberal news outlet in the state. The television and radio programming for news is uniformly far right wing. The people of this area hear nothing but bigotry and small mindedness from the like of Linbaugh, Robertson, Beck and the like. Comedy Central and Olberman are the only redeeming lights, and they are entertainers rather than real newspeople.
Call a spade a spade — homophobia, sexism, racist slurs are undignified crap that don’t pass as news, entertainment or anything other than smug, self satisfied stupidity and arrogance. If these cretins are permitted to belch forth their ugly without challenge, we are surrendering to the lowest common denominator in our culture.
January 27th, 2007 at 1:16 pmWhen Beck heard: I swear allegiance to the flag - he thought they said: FAG.
January 27th, 2007 at 4:06 pmRush -If I was in a fever pitch of horniness, I wouldn’t touch you with someone else’s dick.
See! Glenn Beck is schizophrenic. “the death of our industry, and the death of our country.†is not an insult to Glenn Beck. His brain is fried and should be commited or confined to his home.
January 27th, 2007 at 4:23 pmGlenn beck is an ass. Yes we all know that. But in this case we don’t even know what question he was asked. Its quite possible Limbaugh wasn’t mentioned with respect to the “divise rhetoric” and only inserted by the editor.
So if Beck did not know that he would be quoted as talking about Limbaugh, when in fact he wasn’t then its fair for him to be mad about it. Even though of course he’s being a two-faced idiot regarding his true opinions. But if he’s right about the facts then we should not all turn him into a “tar-baby” on this. After all, don’t we claim the same right: To be quoted correctly on the FACTS.
