Conservative actor Chuck Norris filled in for Sean Hannity last night on Hannity & Colmes. (He should really stick to martial arts.)
Norris commented on Hannity’s plans to broadcast the fictitious scenes that ABC cut from its controversial docudrama, “The Path to 9/11.” In one fabricated scene, which ABC acknowledges was “improvised,” former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger is shown refusing to give the order to the CIA to take a clear shot at Osama bin Laden.
Last night, Norris said, “I hate to see a movie used as a political platform, whether it’s leaning right” — which he said while gesturing to the left — “or leaning left” — said while gesturing to the right. Moreover, he said, if the Berger scene did not happen, it “should not have been in the film.” Watch it:
It’s one thing for Fox News to provide their usual biased political commentary. It’s another thing to promote discredited fiction as news. Click HERE to send a message to Sean Hannity. Demand that he tell the truth about 9/11.
Full transcript:
NORRIS: Well, honestly, I hate to see a movie used as a political platform anyway, whether it’s leaning right or leaning left. You know, when I go and see a movie and I see it talking about, you know, something on the liberal side or something on the conservative side — more conservative most of the time — I, you know, it bothers me. I don’t want to go to a movie and see this here. And the thing is now, I want to ask you, now, did Sandy Berger call George Tenet or did George Tenet call Sandy Berger, and did they confirm, did George Tenet confirm that Sandy Berger did call him and that he did tell him to back off on the attack on Osama bin Laden? Was that a fact or is it fiction? Did he confirm that he was told that?
GINSBERG: Chuck, are you asking me?
NORRIS: Uh…I’ll tell you what, yeah, Ambassador Ginsberg.
GINSBERG: Well, I can tell you that I went back and studied not only the 9/11 Commission report, Chuck, but also many of the appendices that basically were addendums and other excerpts and reports from the press. There is no doubt there had been clear communications at the time of the events leading up to the efforts by the United States to essentially target bin Laden. There is no doubt, also, based on the 9/11 Commission report, as well as by those who testified, that there is no evidence that Sandy Berger essentially nixed, vetoed, stopped any effort by the agency to target Osama bin Laden. There is nothing, no proof whatsoever to that effect, and the only effort so far to somehow prove otherwise is a distorted fictionalized television report. Irrespective of whatever you may think about Sandy Berger or what may have happened to Sandy since this television show aired — it has nothing to do with it — there is no doubt that this is, indeed, the fact and what ABC is portraying is fiction.
NORRIS: Well, you know, the thing is, that’s the kind of — I didn’t see the movie, so I don’t know, I can’t say one way or the other, but the whole thing is, is that if Sandy Berger did not do that, then he should not — this should not have been in the film.
Chuck has a firm grasp of the obvious this time. Good for him.
January 27th, 2007 at 8:42 amHey, Chuck! Even a blind pig picks up an acorn every once in awhile! Good for you.
Little Seanie, on the other hand, is like a dog on a bone. He’s going to keep chewing on it until he wears down all his teeth. Kinda like GDumbya and his dirty little war in Iraq.
January 27th, 2007 at 8:57 amI didn’t see the last airing of The Path To 9/11 and don’t plan on seeing this one. I am glad, though, that someone who was involved in the making of this propaganda film has the courage to speak against it. Why does the network bother to air it at all, if high ratings is thier game? Is the administration that desperate as to demand it of the industry? Well- I guess I just answered my own damned question!
January 27th, 2007 at 9:11 amWalker has got class. However, Sandy Berger DID do thet! Walker has been misinformed if they told him Berger didn`t do that.
Hell, Berger even had his fat pants and his pockets stuffed to the hilt with top secret intelligence documents.
He ought to be brought up on enemy combatant charges and have his fatass sent to Gitmo for a ” weight loss ” program via a waterboarding session with the nice people down in Git Mo.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:12 amI saw this while using my Total Gym, and Chuck Norris still roundhouse kicked me through the TV Screen.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:13 amYou’re one tree short of a hammock, Joanie Doe. Why do you persist in showing up here and displaying your ignorance?

joanie, you infamous, slatternly, feculent bint, everything you assert is denied–RIGHT THERE–by one of your own guys. You take the ‘o’ out of country. 1-800-USA ARMY. Your reeking, cavernous twat could swallow any IED the bad guys could throw at you.

Because I like you. And George Soros told me personally I could hang out here.
I have a question for you?
Who is going to be playing the part of ” Dil ” from the ” Crying Game” in your next election cycle?
Also, who is going to be playing the role of ” Dil ” from the ” Crying Game ” here at TP now that even your fearless leader ( Judd ) has flown the coup?
Who will save you from yourselves now my little specimens?
January 27th, 2007 at 9:32 amNico,
Don’t camera lenses flip the left-right orientation without a prism to correct? I’m not sure, but I bet even Chuck knows his right from his left.
One obvious problem with an SLR is weight. The prism on top of the body that lets you see a properly-oriented image is heavy. For medium-format SLRs, the prism is very heavy and is usually optional. If you don’t mind looking down into the camera and seeing an image that is reversed left-to-right, you can use a lightweight metal viewing hood rather than a prism.
Keep up the good work, kids and good luck in your new gig, Judd!
January 27th, 2007 at 9:35 amI bet Sean Hannity was rather ticked at this comment from Chuck Norris. Maybe Faux News should show a fight between the two instead of clips from this stupid movie.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:38 amThen, there’s the news which isn’t important enough for a “progressive” site:
Stars, vets to kick off Iraq war protest
POSTED: 9:06 a.m. EST, January 27, 2007
Story Highlights• Actors Jane Fonda, Danny Glover among expected speakers at anti-war rally
• Demonstrators plan to lobby congressmen Monday to bring troops home
• Active-duty troops plan to attend Saturday rally; one expected to speak
• Group sponsoring protest says its Web site has received 5 million hits this month
WASHINGTON (AP) — Opponents of the war in Iraq want their protest on the National Mall to launch a nationwide movement to bring the troops home.
TP didn’t bother running advance stories of THIS event until a couple of days ago, much too late to get a flight and a place to stay!
January 27th, 2007 at 9:43 amBy the way,
I am currently taking applications for democrats to become a member of the Republican Party right here at TP.
Get ahold of me and I will make sure you get signed up early. Hurry, space is very limited!
We don`t let just anyone join you know. You have to meet certain
” criteria ”
Side Note:
Judd couldnt handle the ” pressure keg ” I brought to bare on him with my world class and scholarly debating skill. It just got to be too much for him so he decided to ” git ” while the ” gittin ” was good.
In the cerebral martial arts world known as ” debate ” I have clearly risen to the top of the heap with my numerous defeats of one Judd Legum.
I am glad to see he took the classy way out and just bowed out gracefully instead of kicking and screaming like so many posters here do when I roundly and soundly defeat them in a debate.

TP, which is Hillarys thinktank by the way, must want to keep the war going.
I suppose the Clintons and the Soros` are making a ” killing ” on this war too just like Bushco.
No wonder they want to ” keep it going ” at all costs. And the insurgents? I am guessing they are Negropontes death squads, surgically stirring up sectarian strife and killings to ” keep this thing going ”
The Clintons aren`t exactly poster children of Americana you know.
google: Soros Mena Ark Clinton cocaine cartel
See what you will find. Very interesting.
I said many, many weeks ago that this site ( TP ) was a ” Soros funded Hillary Clinton Thinktank ”
Some said I was crazy and some STILL dent it!
Even after Judd no less, has left to go work for her campaign.
It wasnt a ” nerw oppurtunity ” that just came up for Judd.
It was a ” promotion ” by Team Hillary.
This is a thinktank. It always was a thinktank. It will always be a thinktank.
Hillarys own personal thinktank is what the news accounts have called it when it first opened up.
I posted tons of stuff about this around a month ago. Took alot of hell for it from certain posters. But it is true.
If you want Hillary Clinton to win in 2008?
Keep posting here and you will be helping her.
Intentionally or not.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:56 amFunny, Doe. I thought your post to be Satirical of the right wing.
Do keep coming, though: If any people in the middle see your posts next to our own, you’ll move a lot of minds to our side of logic and away from your side of lunacy.
January 27th, 2007 at 9:58 amNorris was interviewed courtside at a Dallas Maverick’s game by a sports radio guy. The interviewer accidentally called Norris “Walker Texas Railey”, confusing him with alleged wife-murderer Walker Railey.
Good stuff. I think like most “conservative” actors Norris is too stupid to amount to much. It’s funny he fills in for wingnuts.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:11 amEverything’s totally Chuck-Norrised out man. Chuck can take all the insurgents by himself, with one hand.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:14 amChuck Norris should join the army. He’s still young enough, right?

If you don`t know that the very place you post messages at is a thinktank, then there is no hope for you.
It has been PROVEN and openly admitted that TP is a ThinkTank.
Hillary Clintons personal thinktank.
I won`t retrieve all the links again for you.
You have no sense of inquisition about where you post do you?
What did you think this was anyway?
A social board?
heres a hint for you.
Google: thinkprogress thinktank center for american progress
That should clear up your confusion.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:29 amFox network has been a propaganda tool for the conservative movement since it’s inception. Why wouldn’t they use fictional history if it promoted their politics. I would hate to see a real news network using scenes from South Park as news, but it wouldn’t suprise me to see Fox doing it.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:29 amDon’t you just love it when Joanie Rachel Doe gets her talking points from a right wing blog, and then cuts and pastes all over here.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:31 amFlippin’ hilarious, I tell ya.
Kinda gives a sneek peak into the debate tactics of the right, or in this pathetic, lonely creature’s case, non debate tactics
I wonder if the scene where George Bush sits in the Florida classroom for a full seven minutes looking like a confused Mr. Hanky is also going to be shown? Maybe not, what with all the needed editing. Or, how about the scene where the bin Laden’s are whisked out of the country, once all the domestic air traffic has been grounded. Nope, I guess other, more important footage is needed to actually inform the general masses of slaves, sheep and pink monkeys, aka, Bush supporters. After all, this is HISTORY being made, here!
January 27th, 2007 at 10:38 amRegarding Chuck gesturing right when it should have been left, etc., the guy obviously was doing it in reverse, making it correct for the TV audience. If you want to find fault, find it in a less petty manner.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:39 am#19 Doe:
I know it’s a project of the Center for American Progress – a thinktank. However, I also know that it’s a progressive blog that talks about what I want to read. I myself am preparing to enter a career in politics, as part of some crazy fifth grade dream that I want to live.
I’ve been reading TP for a few years new, and have shown it too all my friends – they love and I do. I check it every day.
Let me pose this question for you:
Didn’t you know that FOX is a government mouthpiece? It’s more biased than TP is. I know TP is biased, but that’s OK, because it’s the bias I’m looking for. They do a lot of the extra research for me – when Bush says “We’ve never been about stay the course”, TP saves me a step by showing all the times he’s said ‘Stay the Course’, with transcripts.
At least TP is better than FOX in its reporting!
January 27th, 2007 at 10:42 amBetter yet demand congress shut down any radio, cable or TV channel that is put out false or distorted stories as facts. This is how the facists turn Germany against its own people. They just lied big and often the did it all over again only with bigger and larger lies.
Comments, and talking heads opinions are not news or facts. These are enteriantment shows that obessence.
We know how the right hates porn and that is what they are sending out to the public, obessence porn in the form of lies. America is being “Deep Throated, (original movie)” by the right as in the CS. There is no truths being put out by the right. They are not out save America but to destroy America and everyone to left of their political position.
January 27th, 2007 at 10:56 amWhere the hell was Colmes? Was he too chicken to take the lead on a show while Sean Insanity was away? Or was he too chicken to realize that he is chicken to take on the neocons? And whoever said that Chuck Norris was qualified to host a news show? What’s next? Toby Keith filling in for Tucker Carlson?

I love my dogs too! They have really big balls and little pink weenies that taste like salt!
January 27th, 2007 at 11:25 amHannity and Company (i.e. Fox Noise) will just dismiss Norris’ comments because he’s an actor, and actors know nothing about politics and have no right to be lecturing us on related topics.
Oh, wait. Norris is a Republican. Never mind.
January 27th, 2007 at 11:27 amChuck, your political accumen is on par with your horrible acting.
But thanks anyway…

Comment by Joanie Doe — January 27, 2007 @ 9:12 am
And security guards at the National Archive are on record as saying that they saw Sandy take the documents off the premises. They didn’t even try to stop him. So STFU.
January 27th, 2007 at 11:34 amWhy bother to point out what direction he’s pointing? Watching Chuck, when he said “leaning left” he’s pointing to MY LEFT.
He’s just pointing stage-right and stage-left … we know he’s an actor, right?
January 27th, 2007 at 11:37 amThis raises my opinion of Chuck Norris considerably. If you would like a recap and analysis of “The Path to 9/11″ pseudo-documentary, please visit:

January 27th, 2007 at 11:37 amYou want to read a fictional account of 9/11? Pick-up a copy of the 9/11 Commission Report. What you won’t find out about 9/11 in that report would fill a library.
January 27th, 2007 at 11:39 am9-11 happened on Bush’s watch after he and his people ignored numerous clear warnings of imminent attacks. Bush did nothing. Absolutely nothing. He also did nothing to avenge the USS Cole. End of story. AT least Clinton tried. And CLinton stopped the 1999 LAX attack. Berger and Clinton were heads up. Bush-Rice were asleep at the wheel.

January 27th, 2007 at 12:04 pmmy suggestion to joanie is that she should do a lifelike reenactment of Joan of Arcs departure
WC
What is more, the documents Sandy Berger had taken were, get this, copies. The originals are still there, but it helps the rightwhinge more to try and make it sound like it was an attempt at a cover-up when one leaves that sort of detail out now doesn’t it?
January 27th, 2007 at 12:05 pmDoe, show me the proof that Berger said that. It wasn’t even postulated (look up the hard words sweetie) until Path to 9/11 was aired.
Even Patricia Heaton regrets being in that farce of a movie. Now go back to feeding your 8 dirty urchin children in your trailer park and please stay off a board where you clearly don’t have the intellect to be.

And posters here seem to think they’re talking with someone rational. Wait til the evening, when Rache’s meds thin out — then we’ll see some old style Rachel/Santo craziness . . .
January 27th, 2007 at 12:38 pmJoanie Doe: Welcome to the fray. Looks like we’ve got another misinformed pinhead from the right. I suggest you do some reading, then come back when you have something substantive to add to the conversation.
Peace for now, my little simpleton.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:39 pmBarfly,
Please, Santo was a joy compared to this one.
Oy.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:40 pmI tend to disagree with his politics, but he’s dead right on this one.
January 27th, 2007 at 12:42 pmFiction should never be presented as fact.
Zooey,
Yeah, he was at least funny, even when unintentionally so. He was like a Jekyll/Hyde kinda guy. Talking rationally under an assumed name, and then suddenly, some word or phrase would set him off, and BAM! — rats-in-the-corn-crib crazy.

You wish you would and could muster up the balls of Norris, but it just isn`t in the cards for you.
Why?
Because you have the balls and courage of Sean Hannity, that`s why.
Now go crack another one open and maybe you can have 18 beers downed by the time ” Missing in Action ” the sequel comes back on.
Is it true you get all tanked up (at home of course), pull all the shades and go down to the basement to your ” special place? ”
Your place where you get all tanked up ( literally ) don some military surplus store ill fitting fatigues and ” go to war ” right there at home?
I heard it was true. Just hearing some of your posts tends to make me believe it is true.
You always ” wannabe ” where the action is in a war……
as long as your recliner and your beer remain close at hand.

They are. Much happier with that job choice to the cubicle job I was planning on taking.
This Summer I plan to do some community work. I’m hoping to hook up with a few churches (as much as I’m an atheist, you can’t deny the value of a bunch of people in a room that come specifically to listen to a speaker) to spread the word of An Inconvenient Truth – that’s my objective while I’m still under the constrictions of school. I get less sick days than most minimum wage employees, I swear..
The town I’m in is pretty conservative – I was the only liberal in my government class (but I was still elected president of the class by one vote), but I was happy to be able to present parts of An Inconvenient Truth, and lots of ‘Special Comments’ by Keith Olbermann.
Anyone have suggestions for community work I can do this Summer? We’ve got a good enough planning commission that has beautification already done (they’re trying to make our city one that is 100% walkable – that you can walk, by sidewalk, to every house and business), so I think spreading words is about the best I can do.

Wow! I am not sure what is more disgusting, the blatant lies and distortions being perpetuated by one brain-dead conservative blogger (there seems to be several on every blog I read) or the nasty vile personal commentary aimed in Joannie Doe’s direction. The objective, my friends, is to advance an intellectual discussion in which we can all debate, learn, and contribute to the vital national dialogue. I truly feel like we have an opportunity to speak honestly and provide more REAL knowledge to each other than is possible through our TV sets and our local rag of a newspaper. Unfortunately, the poor pathetic Joannie Does of the world and the equally pathetic idiots who stoop down to her low level do nothing to advance such a lofty agenda.
January 27th, 2007 at 2:11 pm#10… Zippy,
SLR cameras are film cameras. All network news shows are shot on video. And with video, you never have a reversed or flipped image as you would in a film camera.
The only “flipping” would come if the camera was hooked to a TV and you were watching yourself, or if you had a camera with a flip-out screen, you were in front of the lens, and you turned the screen to face you (to shoot video of yourself) – in THAT case things would seem backwards.
But Norris wasn’t doing that. He was in a studio. And even if he was looking at himself in the studio monitor – your instincts to move your hands left or right correctly should over power how you are perceiving yourself in the monitor.
To me, I’m willing to bet he wasn’t thinking about motor skills while trying to think about politics. He can’t do both at the same time.
January 27th, 2007 at 2:20 pmBush works for the Likud Party. His father, Poppy, did a deal with Likud during the Clinton Administration to ensnare Clinton in a tryst with a Mossad “Swallow” (Monica) in order to ensure GHW’s control of the agenda going forward. Poppy did a deal with the devil to bring down an American President using a foreign spy service to do it. This is called a CONSPIRACY. GHW Bush, Cheney and Ken Lay then conspired to create the California Energy Crisis in the year prior to the elections in order to set the stage for the OIL EXPERTS to take the White House in 2000. The Co-Conspirators then set their sites on working together to pull off their agenda, using elements of Poppy’s CIA and Likud’s Mossad to plan and implement 9/11 – the PNAC proscribed PRETEXT for the acquisition of the resources and territory of the Middle East. One Problem. Israel double-crossed the Bush Cabal and is blackmailing them BIG TIME. Israel controls everything inside the US. They have every single phone wiretapped and have their software running every vital system. Israel actually controls the launch and targeting codes of the entire US Nuclear arsenal. Chertoff controls Homeland security on Israel’s behalf. He is Mossad. Cheney ran the 9/11 operation, and used Mossad operatives to pull it off. Then Israel threatened to expose the Bush Administration’s role in it unless Bush and the rest of his cabal did exactly as Israel demands. Bottom line – Israel owns the United States – thanks to GHW Bush. None of this is speculation. These are facts.

Ally or enemy, it would seem you are an ass either way. You realize you are posting this on a blog, right? Meaning there’s a 99.99% chance you are full of shiat. The .01% chance that you will follow through with lame threats now has documentation, thereby turning you into a cliche (different than the one you are now…) and you aren’t nearly as anonymous on the internet as you might think. I’m not so stupid to think I have anonymity either, but I play the odds… that you fall in that 9/10’s that most trolls do.
/just sayin.
January 27th, 2007 at 3:04 pmAll you have to do so see the progressive hate is to read any of the discussions on TP. January 27th, 2007 at 4:20 pmRemember actors have to use stage left and stage right, which is opposite from there vantage point. When blocking scenes on stage or film if they are told to exit left, it means left from the vantage point of the camera or audience.

There are certain things I won’t do.
I won’t lie. I won’t back down unless I am wrong, and I won’t cling to a position if it is shown that I am wrong. These are my limits.
But what I will do is argue with the rightwhinge trolls. They who claim superior morality when ultimately, what they mean is the ability to persecute others. Those who scream about how amoral the left is, when it is their side that not only tortures, but champions torture.
I will fight them not because it is condusive to discussion on these boards, but because I have learned from the 2000’s. I have learned from the 2K era, and what I have learned is if you do not fight against evil, if you just ignore it, evil persists and wins. I have learned that you do not put up with Ann Coulterists, the true designation of these trolls, you do not put up with being lied to and you do not put up with being insulted because all it does is make you look weak and them look right.
Sure, netiquette demands we ignore the trolls, but the truth demands that we do not, and the truth, more then any claim by any religion, is sacred. Sure, I will swear, I will tell them precisely what I think of them (When I call someone an idiot, I mean it) and I will fight them on their own ground. You may call this stooping to their level, I call it being blunt.

Don’t progressives have the reputation of being touchy-feely wimps because we’d rather talk things out instead of the more conservative view of “Get ‘em”?
January 27th, 2007 at 5:09 pmProjection is a defense mechanism to not face the truth. Poor boy has it in spades.
Let’s hear some righteous indignation over Oliver North’s actions, eh, Kevin? You wouldn’t want us to think you have a double standard about governmental misdeeds.

January 27th, 2007 at 5:14 pmI agree, trueblue. I think the difference between the two is we don’t hate irrationally – unlike conservatives who hate and fear everything. Why else do you think the United states has a bigger military budget that all the other contries of the world combined? So conservatives can sleep at night, safe in the knowledge that they won’t be sold into slavery while they sleep.
A sad ending for a political party once known for its courage in taking the lead in ending slavery.

January 27th, 2007 at 5:23 pmYay!
Kevin
Right now I have two different designations for Rightwingers based on the validity of their arguments and the pattern of their arguments.
One is the Rightwhinge. They actually have very little idea as to what the government does, pays for and helps them with. They will moan about taxes, and then about poor service delivery. They will accuse the gay community of being a bunch of sluts, and then deny them the right to a contract obligating them to monogamy. They will whine about the morals of the left, and then defend to the death the right to torture. Indeed, even in terms of civil discourse, they will whinge about how the left is a bunch of haters in one breath, and then slam someone in the most hate-filled manner possible in the next.
The rightwhinge will also call all who oppose them un-American, and accuse anyone saying a given situation is bad, of supporting the enemy. These are the guys who would much rather everyone closed their eyes and ignored the lion in the room, then have anyone point out it is there, eating people.
Then you have the rightwing. The rightwing, is basically misguided. They believe, honestly believe that CEOs actually care what happens five years from now if their company doesn’t look after the enviroment or its workers. They are supremely confident that if they lower wages and taxes, companies will hire more people – even if those companies don’t actually need more people, and that the only thing dictating to a rich person where he lives, is how much he is taxed.
They believe the left to be something it is not, a bunch of people who want higher taxes for the sake of higher taxes, who want to make gay marriage mandatory and religion illegal (Unless, it is somehow, the religion of America’s enemies.) This is because they listen way, way, way too much to the Rightwhinge.
The Rightwhinge will always be impervious to logic, reasoning, factual evidence and just plain common sense. They will always support their guy, even if all evidence points to their guy being wrong. As examples of the rightwhinge, well, go look at the rightwing punditocracy.
The rightwing, on the other hand, are capable of reason. They are basically good people, and once you can wake them up to the fact that the left is just not what they thought it was, they start to argue reasonably.
Now, with the left the thing is, we like to argue. We enjoy disagreeing with each other, learning from each other’s arguments and indeed, sometimes frustrating each other over something. As a lefty I support Israel’s right to exist, I don’t believe the 9/11 conspiracy, and I think Hillary Clinton is unelectable for several very good reasons that have nothing to do with her surname or sex. These are issues which other lefties disagree with me on quite passionately, heck Judd’s gone over to working on Hillary’s campaign, but even as the debate gets heated none of us leave it hating each other.
We are capable of hate, nobody isn’t, but we try to step back and make our decisions with a clear head. We argue the economic means to end terrorism, global warming in truth has a lot of arguments which aren’t global warming in its favour, because it is the most obvious solution to jihad if people just stop and think.
Africa is a impoverished hellhole once you move out of SA, but it is not the source of global terror that Saudi Arabia is all on it own. Take away the money, and terrorism has no alternative but to localise or die out. Keep the funding strong, and terrorism can spread as much as it likes.
January 27th, 2007 at 5:33 pmWell, to be fair, I thought in acting, that your left is right and your right is left?

Unless of course, what you are talking about is a general principle such as documentaries based on the truth – not including fictional events billed as being the truth.
Of course, concepts like actually following through on being a moral person, tend to escape the rightwhinge.

You wouldn’t know “bad” if it bit you on the ass. Let’s take a brief stroll down Bush’s “Memory Lane,” shall we?
Candidate Bush in 2000 said the U.S. would neither be the policemen of the world, nor nation builders. Yet that is exactly what we are doing in Iraq. Bush lied.
President Bush, by fighting his “war” on terror, is spending this country into debt so deep that it will take generations to bring us out, if ever.
President Bush has given no fewer than 6 separate reasons for invading Iraq. Each new reason was trotted out when the prior reason was no longer working with the American people.
President George Bush sat in a Florida classroom for 7 minutes with a blank stare on his face while America was under attack, and after a second jet crashed into the World Trade Center.
Donald Rumsfeld told Americans that he doubted the “war” in Iraq would last 6 months. We are now approaching 4 years. And today on crooksandliars.com we are treated to a story revealing that insurgents in Iraq are dressing up as American soldiers, using American weapons, and kidnapping actual Americans and executing them.
Bush and his cronies (including his wife) bitch about no good news coming from Iraq, yet CBS’ Lara Logan tells us that the State Department won’t let journalists report the good news stories. I’ve yet to see one Republican cheerleader of Bush and the war on here point out all the good news stories that Fox Noise has posted on their Web site.
Vice President Dick Cheney shoots a man in the face and refuses to be interviewed by local police until the next day. For some inexplicable reason (likely he was drunk) he hides behind “national security.”
The Bush administration regularly elevates the terror threat level over the objection of Sec. of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, who is on record as saying the evidence was not strong enough for such action.
Vice President Dick Cheney tells voters in 2004 that America is sure to be attacked again by terrorists if John Kerry is elected president.
President George Bush tells voters in 2006 that if the Democrats take over Congress, the terrorists win.
In his 2006 SOTU speech, Bush tells America that we need to wean ourselves off foreign oil in 10 years. Several days later administration spokesmen tell the media that Bush wasn’t being literal.
President George Bush, channeling John Wayne, tells us that he wants Osama bin Laden “dead or alive.” Later Bush recants, telling Americans he doesn’t really care about bin Laden any more.
President George Bush, with the deaths of American soldiers hovering around 3,000 and tens of thousands with blown off limbs, head injuries, burns to their bodies, and psychological issues that will last the rest of their lives, tells America that we’d be surprised at how well he sleeps at night.
Sec. of Defense Don Rumsfeld, with the deaths of American soldiers hovering around 3000, and tens of thousands with blown off limbs, head injuries, burns to their bodies, and psychological issues that will last the rest of their lives, tells America that the only thing keeping him awake at night are the reports in the media about Iraq that may not be truthful.
Republican leaders in the 109th Congress tell America that the 2 most important issues facing this country are flag burning and same-sex marriage.
President Bush eats birthday cake and takes guitar lessons while Hurricane Katrina bears down on America.
President Bush fights the creation of a 9/11 Commission. After his interview by the Commission, with V.P. Dick Cheney at his side and likely holding his hand, Bush tells America what a good time he had talking to the members of the commission and tells us how much he appreciates the commission and its work.
President Bush and his administration uses the term “stay the course” more times than anyone can count in defining their strategy for Iraq, yet they and others outside of the administration tell the American people that Bush has never used those words, and that the strategy in Iraq has never been about “stay the course” (see Ken Mehlman).
President Bush says we will pull out of Iraq if the new government asks us to leave. Members of the new government ask us to leave. Bush ignores them.
Behind closed doors and at the 11th hour, prior to a vote on a bill dealing with national security, Republican members of the 109th Congress attach an amendment banning online gambling. Members of Congress vote on the bill, not knowing that the online gambling ban is there.
The Republicans in the 109th Congress refused to provide any oversight of contractors working in Iraq and wasting billions of dollars.
Sen. Ted Stevens, Republican from Alaska, defined the Internet as a “series of tubes.”
Sen. Pat Roberts, Republican, promised to release Phase II of a Senate investigation regarding how the WH used intelligence in the lead-up to the Iraq “war,” and then proceeded to stall for 2 years.
———
Now tell me, Kevin. How the hell could the Democrats top all of this shit? Look at each of the items I have posted, and tell me how any of them are good for the country. What are the Democrats going to do that is worse than this? What’s that? The bad old Democrats passed 6 bills in 87 hours and didn’t let the Republicans have any meaningful debate or attach any amendments? And how is this different from the Republican-led 109th Congress? Oh boo freakin’ hoo. Cry me a f*cking river.
January 28th, 2007 at 11:21 pmWC
I could forgive Bush those minutes he was stunned by 9/11. Heck, we all were.
What I cannot forgive, is the fact that he then went into hiding and addressed the nation from a bunker.
And then had his propaganda machine try and call Carter a coward.
Jimmy Carter had his faults, lots of them, but when 3-Mile Island’s nuclear reactor started its melt down, he flew down there to still any panic.
He also averted the crisis via his excellent reaction time to it, and his administrative ability.
Compare this to Dubya on Katrina, and how it took him two days to arrive in NO and even then he seemingly had no idea what was going on. Compare a president the rightwhinge calls one of the worst in America’s history – based purely on what their TV says, with GW Bush.
January 29th, 2007 at 12:17 amBruce,
At the very least, they should have whisked Bush off to a safe location. At the time, for all they knew, Bush could have easily been a target, too. While I am not sure, it’s likely Bush’s destination was public knowledge at least 24 hours prior to his visit. There were 4 planes hijacked; who’s to say one wasn’t headed to crash into the school where he was? Instead, he sits there, and then goes to another part of the school and gives a short speech, and THEN leaves the area.
January 29th, 2007 at 12:39 amWC
No. Lots of presidents, and leaders in general have been presented with a conflict between personal safety, and doing their duty by their people. When Carter went to 3-Mile Island the disaster was still ongoing – he was risking his own life and he knew it.
The difference is, the good ones did their duty. Bush’s duty on 9/11 was to go to New York and avert panic, show a brave face to America’s enemies and be with his people. Instead, he chose personal safety.
January 29th, 2007 at 1:11 amBruce, the difference is that Carter’s life is not worth anything. He is just as Anti Semitic as you Anti American libs are.
