Kristol, Cheney, et. al. keep me believing in an afterlife – since they prosper in this world, I have to believe that they will pay in the next phase.

For one thing, the accretion of the radical Islamist enemy in the form of a coherent state would be the easiest thing for us to attack with impunity, minimal loss of US life, and successful outcome. Witness the rapid elimination of the Taliban from Afghanistan, quite successful until your neocon ilk diverted attention to a needless war in Iraq.

Probably the best course of action in this sorry mess is to redeploy US forces to the Iranian, Syrian, and Saudi borders, allow a safe exit to refugee camps for anyone who wants out, and then let the militias duke it out without external involvement or broadening of the conflict, or help them work toward a diplomatic solution if they ever become willing. Failing diplomacy, the emergent winner of the civil war will either be someone we can deal with or someone we can’t. If the latter, we’ll know exactly where they are.

But people like you are so hell-bent on “winning”, which apparently means total and unquestioned capitulation of the populace to your nazi demands, that you can’t see any other way but your own disastrous approach.
