Former escort visits Haggard’s church.

Former escort visits Haggard’s church.

Mike Jones, the former male prostitute whose had a three-year sexual liaison with evangelist Ted Haggard, attended services at Haggard’s New Life Church yesterday. “A couple of ladies cried when they were touching me,” Jones said. “I was thanked for exposing the church, for helping Ted Haggard. A couple of them said they hoped I get God into my life. And they all said ‘God bless you,’ every one of them.

This the way you’re supposed to resolve a sinful situation. I hope Mr. Jones surrenders his life to Christ Jesus. Sin must be revealed, but we must also forgive and seek redemption.

“for a fact”? Does god talk to you? How else would you know “for a fact”?

    We’re human, we make mistakes.

His was no mistake but blatant, prolonged hypocrisy.

The only mistake he made -and the only thing he is sorry about- is that he got caught, that lying, hypocritical weasel.

  12. Hector Garcia says:

Mr.Male prostitute, you’re lucky, since God is a non-existant entity, it has forgiven you and your “promiscuity” long ago.

But beware of “entities” like Haggard, anyway.

  13. Kat says:

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but why is this story on TP? There seems to be plenty going on in the world and in politics that is of great significance to our futures, so I am having a hard time rationalizing the inclusion of this gossip piece on a site like this. It seems to me to be below TP’s usual standards. There is no lack of real news today – there are many items not covered here at all. What gives? Am I missing something as to why this article is important… today?

  18. Earthling says:

To Daryll and any other person who posts here suggesting that the fact that this man is gay means he needs to seek redemption or get Jesus Christ into his life, or any other tired anti-gay rhetoric masquerading as understanding and forgiveness of the sinner, I say this: GET OVER YOURSELVES. Being gay is not a sin. Period. God (if there is one) created gays as sure as he/she created heterosexuals. End of story. So please Daryll, et al., get off your holier-than-thou, sanctimonious soap box. Live your life as you see fit, and let others do the same. As far as the church ladies being nice to this man and blessing him, that’s what they did to his face. Without a doubt, what they say behind his back is a whole other story. Like most purported Christians, they’re all a bunch of hypocrites.

  19. Lisa says:

Anyone watch Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandra, and her documentary on HBO about the Christian ‘right’? Daryl? DARYL!?

Much of it had Ted Haggard explaining why the church has become political. He reminded me of a frog flapping his lips; kind of like Bill Kristol. They showed a lot of behind the scenes footage, how these churches are using Rock & Roll to bring in younger members, how they raise money from guilt, etc. Good show. It starts with the mega-churches and the enormous white crosses going up over the South. Disturbing, but informative.

Also…to you who think this isn’t ‘TP worthy’, it’s directly related to the 30%’ers. I often see posts wondering who they are. Watch this and you’ll get a good idea.

But, on the other hand, when people like the ladies at the church express gratitude for the exposure of such hypocrisy, as they did when they thanked Mike Jones, they are setting an example for other people who claim to be religious.

We all need to focus more on cultivating our own character than slinging mud at the lack of character of others.

Where in the Bible is it written we should lower taxes on the wealthy, stop giving health care and aid to the poor, turn away downtrodden immigrants, or bomb countries who don’t agree with our views? The Republicans use “values” to fool Christians into voting against their true beliefs. Sad.

BTW what does MFR mean MoFoRequirement?

  67. hellinabucket says:

Aren’t the laws of nature important to God Daryll? What does the bible say about oil? What do you think God sees in Halliburton? What about no bid contracts? Do you think God approves of no bid contracts? For that matter, what do you think God feels about profit? Now remember when Jesus walked into the temple and busted it up because of people just making a profit.

  71. John Gilpins says:

    Is this surprising? Hardly!

I would imagine that Mike’s male hooker business is kind of slow with his REVELATIONS about Ted, and what better place to drum up a little business. Christian fundamentalist churches must have more gays per square-foot than Castro Street bars. I hope Mike had business cards, and gave them to potential clients.

No doubt Mike must have graduated from the Wharton School of Business. Showing the merchandise is one of the FUNDAMENTAL lessons taught in Advertising 101. This guy has some smarts, and I would guess the merchandise is on sale.

I’m sure millions of gay Christian fundamentalists pray for good male hooker sales. Why not!!!

When Mike walked in the church, their prayers were answered. I’m sure many were chanting: ‘PRAISE JESUS, PRAISE JESUS.’

It’s such a blessing, too. Tithing puts a big dent in gay fundamentalists’ wallets, and a good male hooker sale IS a gift from God.

And you thought there wasn’t a God. Ha! Ha! God works in mysterious ways.

    John

  72. gorn says:

It hurts that you liberals criticize an individual for giving their life to Christ and turning from their wicked ways. Now I know that you’re not a party consisted of morals and values.

I don’t know what “liberal” has to do with anything, but personally I have no problem thinking you’re daft if you are “giving your life” to an ancient middle eastern dead mystic.

The concept is laughable, which you would realize if you weren’t brainwashed. Why not “give your life” to Mohammed, Mithras, or Moroni?

Better yet, do what your mystic advised and observe the Golden Rule. That pretty much sums up the entire value of any book of religion or philosophy.

(BTW, I am observing that rule myself, by showing you the Truth, the Light, and the Way).

  73. Donnie McDaniel says:

Daryll is just waiting on Haggard himself. Why settle for the male hooker when he can get right next to GOD himself with Ted? As for the speck in the eye, I do believe that bible you are thumping says a mote! I know it might be the same to you, but at least quote the exact words. Try not to be so Bush like. That is the same quote he tried to use with an Irish reporter and reversed the words. Give truth a chance. I promise you, it won’t hurt a bit. If your gonna preach it, have the decency to know it!

  74. Destardi says:

Some of the “progressives” posting on here, are disappointing.

    “butt plugs”?

No tolerance for religion/respect. Daryll, IMHO was not being intentionally disrespectful with his comments; how intelligent do you have to be to see that.

Maybe, just maybe, “Mr. Jones” should seek some sort of healing, whether it be through God, or therapy, or whatever else, not because he’s gay, but because he’s sold his body for money, and indulged in things that may not be the most ideal of vices.

To be so intolerant of ANY talk involving God, is disgusting. I may not be a bible thumper, but I do believe in Karma, God, Spirituality, a higher purpose, whatever, and those posts in my mind certainly are not representative of the progressive mindset I was hoping for.

    jus sayin
